00:00Having a look at the Hellblazer, maybe a little too late.
00:03Here's a look at McFarlane Toys, DC Multiverse, Page Puncher's Black Adam comic, John Constantine.
00:24John Constantine wields the dark arts to save his soul as well as the Earth itself.
00:28An expert sorcerer and magician, Constantine isn't known for his glowing personality,
00:33but when it comes to the occult, he's the best investigator there is.
00:37A notorious man with skeletons in his closet.
00:40Constantine's moral compass is as grey as it can be, but deep down he wants to do the right thing.
00:45I think the safest thing we can do right now before we get to the demonic details is working class warlock.
00:50Let's first take the tape measure of mine, and we'll see how tall the figure stands.
00:54Let's just glaze over the fact that this figure is considerably old.
00:59And why, oh why, Magic Storyteller, are you looking at him now?
01:04We'll get down to that in a second as well.
01:07First, though, John Constantine is going to stand 7 inches in height, whether he's late or not.
01:13That's going to work out, though, to be a figure that's 18 centimeters tall.
01:16Okay, so what brought this all about was the fact I already had a look at this figure right here.
01:20This was Batman Year One Lieutenant Jim Gordon.
01:23And in that review, I said that Jim Gordon was in fact just using essentially the same body as John Constantine,
01:29a figure I never had the chance to look at.
01:31Sure enough, though, saying that, viewer comments would be then telling me,
01:35you know, really, if you have the time, you should get around to looking at Constantine,
01:38because he's a good-looking figure.
01:39I completely agree with you, and that's why we're looking at him a little late.
01:46He's actually been sealed inside of a plastic prison, probably suffocating.
01:51But we're finally again looking at him now.
01:53Bringing in some of the examples of figures now that will be displayed with John Constantine on the shelf.
01:58Not necessarily Jim Gordon, because, again, they're sporting similar fashions.
02:01But I probably had plans, though, to display this guy with Dead Man.
02:04Maybe, perhaps, even Wesley Dodds Sandman.
02:07And hey, why not? He's there anyways.
02:09How about the Year One Batman with short arms and all?
02:11I guess if you don't miss extra hands, then John Constantine isn't all that short on accessories.
02:16The figure does have, first of all, a book of spells.
02:18He does also have a spell casting hand.
02:20That would be the one that he has.
02:22But on either side of him, the figure first does come in clue with a comic book.
02:28Now, the comic book is more so for Black Adam.
02:31It does also feature, though, the Man of Steel and the Caped Crusader on the front.
02:34Whether you like the looks of these characters or not, they have also been reused molds.
02:38We have seen a couple of times also after the fact.
02:41I will say, though, for what it is, the illustrations on the inside look really nice.
02:46Now, I also, while speaking of John Constantine, I happen still to have Black Adam, the page puncher's version of him, still sealed inside also his plastic prison.
02:56I might find now, I mean, I've already opened up Constantine.
02:58What's really then left to look at?
03:00Probably going to be looking at Black Adam this week as well.
03:03But yeah, back, though, to the illustrations.
03:05I think the illustrations are actually really nice in these.
03:07That can really be one thing that turns me completely away from a comic.
03:11If I open up the book and the art style is garbage, then I just put the book back down.
03:16I really need to be invested in the styling of the art.
03:20If the art, again, looks good, it brings me in.
03:22And then I'm more interested in the story.
03:24While I was, though, talking away, I wasn't showing you really much of the story.
03:28I'm going to leave it to you guys.
03:30I'm going to leave it to you.
03:31If you've already read the comic, don't spoil it for anybody else.
03:34But hopefully this will be then something that's going to maybe bait somebody.
03:37You know, that comic did look kind of good in the way he was going on about the illustrations.
03:41I'm sold.
03:43You can go pick up the figure for yourself and, you know, you'll have the extra.
03:46Now, actually, this comic does get featured as well with the Black Adam.
03:51It's also was featured with both Superman and Batman.
03:53We've looked at both these two figures in the earlier reviews.
03:57Go check that out if you have a chance on or a little bit of time on your hands.
04:00Not yet, though, because obviously we have to kind of get through what we got going on right now.
04:04What we also got going on right now is a trading card.
04:07The trading card, disappointingly, does have the same illustration as the comic.
04:12It's fine.
04:13However, though, with not probably any plans to get another John Constantine,
04:17saying that now, watch McFarlane then release a brand new figure of him.
04:21And then doing this entire review would then just be, it was just a waste of time.
04:24I hope, though, it wasn't a waste of time.
04:26At least we got the chance to sit down.
04:28You know, just got to mingle.
04:29We got to chat.
04:30We got to, again, you know, talk shop.
04:32Talk shop, as they say.
04:34If this isn't the only time that we're going to get John Constantine,
04:37then the card really complaining about it now doesn't make any sense.
04:40If it is, though, the only time we're going to be getting the figure,
04:42I will say one thing.
04:43Some of the page punchers did make the mistake of having the same illustration as the comic.
04:47It's only really, though, John, when you look on the back of it,
04:50that it does tell us the real name and it does have an illustration of him.
04:53I would have rather, though, this be the picture that was on the front of the card
04:57and not just this is the front of the cover of the comic.
05:00A read-up, by the way, though, is something, though,
05:03I was already sharing with you at the beginning of this review.
05:05So, you know, you can pause it if you want.
05:08I mean, you're only really doubling up the same thing that I've already done for you.
05:11But if you want to pause it, feel free.
05:13There you go.
05:14There you go.
05:16You okay, though, if I don't pause it for everybody else
05:18that wants to move forward with this review?
05:20Oh, thank you so much.
05:22Let's move that off to the side.
05:23Okay, so John Constantine does have himself a book.
05:25I just realized it now.
05:27I've still got tape right across the book.
05:30It doesn't necessarily ruin the pages of the book
05:32because, really, there's nothing written at all,
05:34scripture-wise, across of the two pages.
05:37The book can't be closed.
05:38It can't be opened.
05:39But there's nothing, unfortunately, on the inside.
05:41You know, if you have a book like this that's opened already,
05:45I would think, though, that they would have gone at least and written something,
05:49even if it really wasn't actual words,
05:51even if it wasn't something we'd be able to see and say,
05:53because, obviously, you're not going to want any of us casting spells.
05:57That's a whole lot of legal issues on McFarlane's team.
06:00But, though, if they could just scribble something in.
06:02You know, when if you've watched somebody doing,
06:04like, writing something in a TV series or in a movie,
06:08you think to yourself,
06:09boy, they're writing that really fast.
06:10And if you really were to have the chance to look down,
06:13you'd realize it would just be chicken scratch.
06:15It would literally look like you took a chicken,
06:17you put a pen in its hand or its claw,
06:20and then you chased the chicken across the page.
06:22That would also be the way that I write on pages.
06:25But, anyways, the book itself, I mean,
06:26there is at least something on the outside.
06:28There's the occult symbol.
06:30I just wish, though, there was something...
06:31Boy, he's writing really fast.
06:34I just wish there was something on the inside of the book.
06:36The book, by the way, though,
06:37can be held in Constantine's hands.
06:40Basically, just take that wedge in between his fingers and his pointer,
06:43get that all in there,
06:44and it does, in fact, survive the blizzard test.
06:47While he's surviving blizzards,
06:49the figure does also come in clue with a spell-casting hand.
06:51It's very much similar, though, to Dr. Fate.
06:54Dr. Strange is also another one as well.
06:55All the dear doctors seem to be doing the occult.
06:58On the one side, it just basically has him palming the affixed accessory.
07:03On the outside, though,
07:04this is really where all the extra paint goes in there.
07:07So they would have generally started with a translucent bit of orange plastic,
07:10and then painted all the grooves meticulously.
07:14Tiny little hands.
07:15Tiny, tiny little hands.
07:17I'm sure there's a joke there somewhere about someone who has very small hands.
07:20Painted that carefully in yellow paint.
07:23This hand, by the way, can be swapped out,
07:25so what you do first...
07:26Hopefully, the book will stay in place.
07:27Just pop the hand off the peg.
07:29Pop.
07:30Then this new hand.
07:32The one only critique I would say, though, about the hand
07:34is it looks wrong in size.
07:36Doesn't it look basically like the hand's been inflated?
07:39It's way too big of a hand
07:40for really what we're dealing with for Constantine.
07:43But, I mean, if you're looking at it this way,
07:45it's only really when you spin this around
07:47do you think, well, wait a minute.
07:48Did somebody just...
07:50blow up his hand like a balloon?
07:53Maybe he's got himself a bee sting.
07:55If he's got a bee sting,
07:56I hope, though, he's got a spell to relieve that.
07:59But that's pretty cool.
08:00I like that they actually include a spell-casting hand,
08:03and, of course, he's got the book on the other side.
08:04It gives him something to do
08:06because if not for that,
08:07the only thing he'd really be able to do
08:09is read a book about Black Adam.
08:11Let's remove the book for right now.
08:12Take this swollen hand off him.
08:15I'll then put that off to the side
08:16and we'll put the regular hand back in place.
08:18That looks a little bit more normal.
08:19What looks normal, though, too,
08:21is the fact if you're looking at the two bodies,
08:22Lieutenant Jim Gordon and John Constantine,
08:25Jim and John share the exact same bodies.
08:28The one notable change, though,
08:30I did mention, though, in the review of Jim Gordon,
08:32is that Constantine does have a ripped open knee in his pants.
08:37I was going to say jeans.
08:38I don't think those are jeans.
08:39But a ripped away knee area in his pants.
08:42Jim Gordon doesn't have that.
08:43I don't think the police force would...
08:45I mean, especially the fact that he's a lieutenant.
08:46He's moving up the ranks.
08:47He doesn't want to, obviously,
08:49walk in one day with ripped knees.
08:50That's not going to work all that well
08:52when it comes to promotions.
08:53But, like, the legs themselves are exactly the same.
08:56The shoes, although I've got this one bent,
08:57are also the same.
08:59And the jackets are identical, too.
09:02It stands to really reason, as well,
09:03that if you had both figures...
09:05Keep your arm down for a second.
09:06If you had both real figures,
09:08theoretically, you'd be able to pop off Jim's head,
09:11pop off John's head,
09:12and crisscross applesauce.
09:14You'd be able to swap them around.
09:16Kind of like throw Mama from the train.
09:17You kill my wife, I'll kill your Mama.
09:20I really don't know how that has anything to do with plastic figures.
09:23But the idea, you would be able to swap them around.
09:25And the only thing, unfortunately, though,
09:26John Constantine has very much more paler skin.
09:30Jim Gordon prefers himself a tan.
09:32So, while you would be able, in theory,
09:34swap the heads around,
09:35it ain't going to look right.
09:36It ain't going to look right at all.
09:38But the plastic that they use, though,
09:40for the jacket is more of a softer plastic.
09:42I do like the fact that this one does have a tie.
09:44Actually, you know what?
09:44That is one thing, too.
09:46Yeah, I thought maybe, like,
09:47the ties were a little bit longer.
09:49Ah, that is one thing, too.
09:51You'll notice that Jim Gordon,
09:52I just realized this now,
09:54didn't actually,
09:54they didn't paint the sides for the tie.
09:56See how John Constantine has that.
09:59Jim Gordon doesn't.
10:00Oh, I can't believe I left that off in the review.
10:03I'll see myself out.
10:06No, I'm not going to see myself out.
10:08For the rest of the figure, yeah,
10:10well, he does have, though, the painted-in tie.
10:12So, that's a little bit nice of extra detail.
10:13I think the face sculpt is really good there, too.
10:16It doesn't necessarily look like Keanu Reeves.
10:18I mean, this looks more like comic Constantine.
10:20I think the head sculpt is well.
10:22The hair looks good, too.
10:24And it's painted well in yellow.
10:26It does actually kind of look like,
10:28of course, now I'm going to be forgetting his name,
10:30White Wedding.
10:31I got a nice day for a white wedding.
10:37I can't remember the name of the singer now.
10:39This is going to come to me,
10:39or somebody's going to just tell me down below.
10:42Billy Idol.
10:43Thank you for the person that was yelling.
10:44Oh, that was loud, by the way.
10:45Somebody who was yelling that in the back room.
10:47It does look a little like Billy Idol.
10:48He's got a little bit of stubble down below developing on his chin.
10:54It's definitely, though, a well-painted head sculpt.
10:56It's something, though, that I can now appreciate more having the figure out of the packaging.
11:01Having him, though, sealed inside that plastic prison and all,
11:04I didn't get the chance to kind of appreciate him as much as I can appreciate him now.
11:07For the articulation on John Constantine,
11:10yeah, if you're familiar with this guy,
11:12then you'll then be automatically familiar with the articulation on this guy, too.
11:15The head's going to be on a ball joint, so it allows the head to rotate.
11:18I would, though, say all the way around.
11:20It means, though, he's going to give himself some chin rub.
11:23Nobody likes a chin rub.
11:25All across the top of the collar.
11:27The head's going to look down, up, up, and back and forth as well.
11:33Arms rotate all the way around.
11:35You can also hinge them out as well.
11:37Rebel yell.
11:38I got more, more.
11:40You can bring the arms out at a little less than a 90 degrees.
11:44I feel like this one actually struggles a little bit more to pull off that T-pose.
11:48But, yeah, they do rotate, though, all the way around.
11:50Constantine does have a bicep swivel.
11:53He does also have a double hinge on his elbow.
11:55Hello?
11:56Hello?
11:56I've got to get this guy, by the way, a cell phone.
11:58A little tiny bit of rectangular plastic.
12:01The guy needs to be either deep in thought or on the phone.
12:05Hands rotate all the way around.
12:06You can hinge them also back and forth.
12:08I think, though, you could probably also use this body for a hush.
12:11Even though, generally, hush generally had his jacket closed up.
12:15If you want to use, I'm sure, this for hush, you'll probably do that as well.
12:18Upper torso is going to be on a ball joint.
12:20Just watch the tie.
12:21It is a separate piece.
12:22The figure does have lower from that an abdomen ball joint, too.
12:26Whoa!
12:27Legs split out on nice ratcheted joints.
12:30Get a good, loud look of that.
12:32Okay, stop that.
12:33Legs move forward.
12:34They move back.
12:35There's a nice swivel there at the top of the thigh.
12:37Okay, double hinge on the knee that now has the ripped knee, unlike Jim's.
12:41And then he does have an ankle pivot, an ankle rocker, and the toe has articulation.
12:45Would you believe it?
12:46You probably would believe it if you already have Jim Gordon in your collection.
12:50Speaking of having things now in my collection, even though he really was part of my collection,
12:53he was part of my sealed collection.
12:55Getting the nudge that I needed in the right direction, somebody after, I think actually
13:00three or four people, after I did do the review of Jim Gordon, said, hey, you know, guy, I
13:05was okay the fact that they called me guy.
13:07You know, hey, guy, if you've already looked at the Jim Gordon, it would be splendid.
13:12Splendid.
13:12If you could go and look at the John Constantine from the Page Punchers line.
13:17You ask?
13:18I provide.
13:19And certainly, though, I hope, even though as late as it may have been, I hope you guys
13:23have enjoyed this review.
13:24Now, this guy, again, sculpted, though, the same body.
13:27I mean, they have, again, taken some luxuries when it comes to the paint.
13:30Jim Gordon goes with the more darker of the trench coats.
13:32Prefer his shirt's also in blue.
13:35Constantine likes the more lighter, kind of almost even more like Sam Loomis kind of
13:39design of outfit.
13:40But he is certainly going to look nice, especially when I've got him displayed with, like, the
13:43likes of Sandman.
13:45Sandman, really, I think is going to be displayed on my shelf along with John Constantine.
13:48And as I did say earlier, that's probably going to be a perfect time to bring in Deadman.
13:52And I think, like, the trio, maybe without Jim Gordon, because he has other things better
13:55to do.
13:56I think, though, the trio can be on display.
13:58As for the occult characters I have currently in my collection, I'm so carried away talking about
14:02the occult.
14:03I completely forgot the fact that John Constantine also comes included with a black display stand.
14:08He's currently using it right now.
14:10These stands, though, while we always kind of knock the fact that McFarlane Toys always
14:14includes them with the figures, and you probably have hundreds of these things by now, they're
14:18always really handy to have.
14:20Handy also for displaying not only just the figures that we're getting from Todd and his
14:23team, but also handy, too, for displaying with other figure companies that still continue
14:27not to include stands with their figures.
14:29I've also got them displayed with the occult hand.
14:32Unfortunately, though, with the hand, it is swollen.
14:34It is extremely big when you look on the back behind it.
14:39I don't know why they made the hand as big as it is.
14:41It almost needed, like, just to be small.
14:43Well, it needed to be the exact same size hand as the hand he currently had before.
14:47Same hand that he has on the other side of his body that currently holds his occult book.
14:51The hand is a bit awkward, too.
14:53It doesn't have a posability point to it.
14:55I mean, you can kind of turn it around so it does look a little bit better, but if you
14:59have it upright, it seems to sit on this real awkward occult angle.
15:05There's nothing really occult about that angle.
15:06I just felt the need to throw that in there as well.
15:08Body-wise, though, he's the same body, but he did it before.
15:11He did it before Lieutenant Jim Gordon did, and he's also got himself a completely different
15:15head sculpt.
15:16I like the head.
15:17I think the head actually looks really good for John Constantine.
15:19If this is the only time, the only time that we're going to be getting this character of
15:23Constantine, I'm glad at least that I could get around to doing a review of him, whether
15:27he was late or not.
15:29Please forgive us down below in the comment section.
15:31If you guys, what do you guys think of John Constantine?
15:34Let me know down below in the comment section.
15:35I guess it's, you know, it's somewhat also fitting that we're looking at this character.
15:38I think they have announced, though, in Hollywood that Keanu Reeves will be coming back to
15:42reprise his role of John Constantine.
15:45I don't know if necessarily that's going to mean that he shaves.
15:47He's sort of doing the same thing.
15:48Have you noticed that with Keanu Reeves?
15:49He does kind of the same thing as Jack Black.
15:51Jack Black now just kind of says to himself, you know what?
15:54I'm going to keep the beard for whatever I can for whatever role.
15:56If you can have me cast in a movie where I basically just look the same way as would
16:00walk out the back door of my house every morning, then I'm going to take the role.
16:04Keanu Reeves seems to do the same thing as well.
16:06If you can keep him in a movie where he doesn't have to really all that do much, like if he can
16:10have his hair longer, if he can have a beard on his face, if he can just basically
16:14look like Keanu stopped caring.
16:16If you have a role for Keanu for that, he's going to sign on right away.
16:20So I don't know, again, if we're going to have long-haired, bearded John Constantine for
16:24a follow-up film, or if he actually is going to get a clean cut, clean shave.
16:29We'll have to wait and see.
16:30If you guys did enjoy this video, do it a solid down.
16:32Come on.
16:33Throw it a like.
16:33If you guys want to stick around for more so, and I hope so.
16:36You know, now that, again, we've opened up John Constantine, I'm looking over right
16:40now.
16:40Black Adam's still over there.
16:41Probably suffocating as we speak, but he's still inside that box.
16:46Probably going to be looking at him this week as well.
16:48So I hope you guys are going to be coming back for that.
16:49As always, thanks for watching.
16:51See you guys next time.
16:53See you guys next time.
17:00See you guys next time.
17:02See you guys next time.
17:03See you guys next time.
17:03See you guys next time.
17:04See you guys next time.
17:04See you guys next time.
17:05See you guys next time.
17:05See you guys next time.
17:06See you next time.
17:06See you next time.
