00:00I don't really know how Teth's going to feel knowing that he's been tucked away in a packaging this long.
00:04Here's a look at McFarland Toys.
00:05DC Direct Page Puncher's Black Adam comic, Black Adam.
00:09DC Direct Page Puncher
00:39Supervillain Known as Black Adam.
00:42I guess it's not really a gift if you have to steal it for yourself.
00:44I'm also looking at Producer Tony while I'm saying this because I can't help but notice he's stolen my sandwich.
00:50I don't know. Take another bite.
00:52Take another bite.
00:54Let's take the tape measure, though, shall we?
00:55And see how tall the Page Puncher's Black Adam stands.
00:59I know, again, it's been an older figure.
01:00It's been locked away with all my other kind of figures that I've kind of had the idea.
01:05Do I really want to get around to opening these up?
01:07Or am I fine just to kind of keep and content to keep them?
01:09Still in their plastic prison.
01:11You know, it kind of dawned on me also as well that as we're getting near the end of the lineage of the DC Multiverse line
01:17and what Todd and team had been doing so well for the last couple of years,
01:20there's only so many figures that they can get out before the license runs out.
01:24That kind of caused me then to open up to John Constantine with the idea really in mind.
01:29Will we ever really get another Constantine?
01:31I start to kind of feel the same way when it comes to Black Adam.
01:34And there has been, again, a couple of Black Adams that have been released,
01:36especially if you'd like to follow Dwayne the Rock Johnson.
01:39We know how well that worked out.
01:41But before we kind of talk about things, let's do this thing.
01:44We're going to take the tape measure and see how tall the page puncher's Black Adam stands.
01:47The answer to that question, by the way, is seven inches in height, working out to be a figure.
01:51That's about 17 and a half centimeters tall.
01:53I don't think you'd have to switch to a secondhand to count just how many Black Adam figures we've gotten from McFarlane Toys.
01:58The ones that come to my mind, obviously, are the movie tie-in ones that feature the Rock very predominantly.
02:03If you like the look of the Rock and would like to have them in different versions of Black Adam,
02:06there was a cloaked and a non-cloaked version.
02:09I think there was also a gold label collection of him as well.
02:11If you like, though, a comic version of Black Adam,
02:14then your best option is either getting the page puncher's one here,
02:17or there is also the endless winter of Black Adam.
02:20A figure I never really picked up.
02:22A figure, though, I happen to have the same body of with Captain Marvel's hair.
02:25Or, essentially, just kind of look at Black Adam.
02:27He would be a black-clad version of this figure right here.
02:31While we're also talking about Captain Marvel, I also happen to bring in this one as well.
02:35This one was cool because it did have more of a classic golden age look to his face.
02:38He also had a real fabric cape, too.
02:40I'll be sure not to make the mistake of saying that Black Adam does come in clue with the display stand.
02:45When we looked at John Constantine earlier this week,
02:47I failed to mention that the figure came in clue with that stand.
02:50The stand, by the way, is just basically your traditional circular black bit of plastic
02:54with the DC logo branded, right dead center in the middle.
02:59In walking distance from that, if you had tiny little legs,
03:02there's a peg right there that can plug into either one of Black Adam's boots.
03:06Hold on to this for dear life.
03:09This figure has an incredible times trying to even stand.
03:13I'm surprised even just by Miracle alone that he's standing the way that he is.
03:17I'm seeing it now, though, because the figure may take a fall.
03:20That would be the perfect hue for him just to fall right over.
03:22However, the figure does also come in clue with a comic.
03:25Now, this is the same comic that came in clue with this Batman
03:27with a Superman now looking at it that looks a lot like Liam Neeson.
03:31Liam Neeson, Superman, front and center.
03:35Had already looked at these figures, and then just recently we also looked at John Constantine.
03:38Sort of Constantine was the catalyst, I guess, if you want to look at it this way,
03:42of reasoning why we're looking now at Black Adam.
03:44Now I can at least say, years later, I have looked at three figures,
03:48Liam Neeson's Superman featured on the front,
03:50and now we can finally say we've looked at Black Adam quickly, quickly,
03:53flipping through the comic, just to show you what the illustration looks like inside.
03:57One thing, though, that they've done is they've designed all the characters
04:00to look like their figure counterparts.
04:03So, like Black Adam, for example, you'll see that he does have the tattered cape
04:06and the gold shoulders on his arms.
04:10I'm not going to spend a whole lot of time, obviously.
04:12Oh, I like this image right here.
04:14That's a really cool image, and it really does showcase
04:16how big of a beast Black Adam actually is.
04:20I don't really know who I would have cast as Black Adam in the films.
04:23I know, certainly, though, it wouldn't have been Dwayne the Rock Johnson.
04:26Come on.
04:27Let's move that off to the side, though.
04:29If you like the look of that comic, you'll also see it as well with the card.
04:33This was the same card as John Constantine,
04:35so how boring is this?
04:37If you have these sitting inside your trading card sheets,
04:40I mean, just to flip through the page, you'd be thinking,
04:42do I have a duplicate?
04:43You don't.
04:44You do from the front.
04:45You don't from the back.
04:47The back does show, actually, Black Adam on the top corner,
04:50whereas John Constantine also was featured on the top corner as well.
04:54I just don't like this.
04:55I really wish, though, that...
04:56I mean, saying this now after the fact, years later,
04:59I would have really rather had the Black Adam featured
05:02and John Constantine featured
05:04instead of a comic I already have an image for.
05:07But let's move those to the side.
05:09Okay, so for the accessories that come in clear with this version of Adam,
05:12the figure does have these electricity effects.
05:15I don't mind these.
05:16I mean, if you want to throw things like this in for figures' accessories,
05:19often at times I generally prefer these a lot more than hands.
05:22The hands themselves, by the way,
05:24he already has a gestured hand on one side
05:26and a closed fist on the other.
05:29The effect pieces are actually different from one another,
05:31so, you know, if to look at one and then see the other,
05:34I don't think...
05:35No, looking at them, they're not exactly the same.
05:38By now, I'm sure you've seen enough of these
05:40to know that they're using translucent yellow plastic.
05:42There's a little bit of give to it.
05:44It's kind of more of a...
05:45I don't want to say like a gummy plastic,
05:46but it's kind of a cross between a gummy plastic
05:48and a more rigid kind of plastic material.
05:52These, by the way, though, as you can see,
05:53serpently spin on the top.
05:55So what you do is basically just take yourself your figure,
05:59keep saying basically while you're doing it,
06:00and wrap it around his arms.
06:04I'm sure, though, you'll have much more success doing it
06:06than what I'm doing it right now.
06:07It's just because everybody's looking at me.
06:08Stop looking at me, please.
06:10Everybody kind of look over there.
06:13Okay, good.
06:13They're looking away.
06:14What you basically just do, though,
06:16is you fit that on his arms,
06:17and you do this on this side as well.
06:21Again, I struggle because everybody I know
06:23is looking at me right now.
06:25There we go.
06:26Basically, just wrap them around his arms.
06:28I mean, you probably could get a better look
06:29than I've got right now,
06:30but it does the job, and it does the job.
06:32I feel fairly well.
06:34So, removing those,
06:38let's put them off to the side.
06:40They'll, I'm sure, come back
06:41for the final looks of the figure.
06:42And getting a closer look at Black Adam.
06:44If you really want a Black Adam from the comics,
06:47I think this is the closest one that we have.
06:49Again, there is the endless winter release of him
06:51that doesn't have the shoulder pads,
06:53doesn't have the cape,
06:54but I don't think it has as good of a head
06:55as what we're getting here.
06:57This comes from a guy, of course,
06:58saying that years later.
07:00The head sculpt, I think, is pretty good.
07:01And he seems a little muddier
07:03on the complexion of the paint.
07:05Outside of that, though,
07:06I think it's one of the better-looking
07:07Black Adam faces that we have.
07:09Again, with only counting on one hand.
07:11I mean, how many of these figures
07:12we've actually gotten.
07:13Now, you don't maybe like the look,
07:15necessarily, of the shoulder pads.
07:17I would think, though,
07:18there's probably a way to remove the shoulders
07:19because what they are
07:20is they're attached on the top here.
07:22If you were to cut these off,
07:23not that it's,
07:24I'm not saying that I would,
07:25if you were to cut these off,
07:26you'd never really know
07:27that they were there in the first place.
07:29The cape would be a harder thing to pull off
07:30because, again, like, pulling it off,
07:32it's plugged onto the fact
07:33the big back of the figure's torso
07:35and obviously would just leave a garrish hole.
07:37This would also be something
07:38that's connected directly
07:40to his lightning bolt on the front.
07:41So I don't think taking the cape off
07:43would really be an option.
07:44The gold works really,
07:45generally, quite well with the figure.
07:47I don't think it necessarily takes away
07:49from what this should look like
07:50as a Black Adam character.
07:51I like the lightning bolt.
07:53I think that's done well.
07:54That was actually something else
07:55I didn't like about
07:56the Endless Winter Black Adam
07:58was that he had a very chunky outline
08:00around the lightning bolt.
08:02I prefer, really,
08:03to have the lightning bolt
08:04a little bit more refined,
08:05where you can see the trim around that
08:07is kind of more,
08:09I would say,
08:09like a caramel beige.
08:11That's a good way
08:11of describing something,
08:12humble for a viewer.
08:13He also has the gold down below here
08:15in his trunk,
08:15some gold nicely done here
08:17on his gauntlets on his arms.
08:18Even, like, really,
08:19the sculpting that they did
08:20to his torso.
08:20For an older figure,
08:22I think they've done
08:22a nice enough job, really.
08:24It isn't really quite black, either.
08:26It almost does seem like there's,
08:27and it could be really
08:28just the way that the light's hitting it,
08:30almost like it's got
08:30a little bit of a purplish tint
08:32to the black.
08:34It could very well
08:34just also be my eyes.
08:35Oh, my eyes.
08:37One issue I do have
08:38with the figure
08:39isn't necessarily the fact
08:40he does have the cape on the back.
08:41Now, the cape is a soft enough plastic.
08:43It's got some rips and tears
08:45and holes in it,
08:45so it looks like it's torn
08:46and it's tattered.
08:47My big real issue
08:48with the figure
08:49comes down below in his boots.
08:50There are two real things
08:51that I find problematic.
08:54Wrong with this.
08:54First of all,
08:55the obvious one
08:56is the fact that
08:57they painted the boots,
08:58they painted the top of the boots,
09:00and yet meeting in the middle,
09:01unfortunately,
09:02this area of black peg
09:03couldn't have been used
09:04at least with gold plastic
09:05or even gone in there
09:06and painted.
09:07Painted probably would have
09:08been a harder thing
09:08because moving this
09:09back and forth
09:10likely would have flaked
09:11the paint off,
09:12but I really feel like
09:13at the very least,
09:14even if it didn't match,
09:15it matched a lot better
09:16than going with black.
09:18Gold, I think,
09:19would have worked.
09:19Maybe they didn't want
09:20to use gold with a weird...
09:21I mean, I think we kind of
09:22by now have gone past
09:23the gold plastic syndrome.
09:25That was a real problem
09:26facing gold plastic figures
09:27back in the day,
09:29around like that late 90s,
09:30early 2000s.
09:31If you had gold figures
09:32back then,
09:33a lot of times
09:34they would crack,
09:35they would split.
09:36I think you could easily now,
09:38or well within,
09:39or well later into the 2000s,
09:41you could easily use gold plastic,
09:43and I don't think
09:43you'd have a risk
09:44of breaking anything
09:45or the plastic being inferior.
09:47I just don't like
09:48that it's separated like this.
09:49I would have to really go back
09:51and look at the comic again.
09:52Let's just put him down here
09:53for a second.
09:54The other problem
09:55is something I'm going
09:56to be talking about.
09:57It has a lot to do
09:57with what he's doing right now.
09:59Let's see if we can find ourselves
10:00an image of Black Adam
10:01where he's got his boots.
10:03I just want to see.
10:04I don't want to be the guy
10:04that says,
10:05well, he shouldn't really
10:07have had a black space.
10:08No, right there.
10:09Right there.
10:09Yeah.
10:10It's all gold, guys.
10:11It's all gold.
10:14That's a good,
10:14like a nice illustration
10:15of Black Adam.
10:16So again,
10:17I feel like the gold
10:17should have been there.
10:18Having it not there
10:19draws more attention
10:20to the fact it's wrong.
10:22What's also wrong,
10:23unfortunately, though,
10:23is the way that the ankles work.
10:25This is something
10:25that happens ever so often
10:27when it comes to DC figures
10:28is that they're unratcheted
10:30the joints.
10:31So they work in a way
10:32where they click here,
10:34here, and here.
10:37Do you think anywhere
10:38in between those three
10:39would be a good place
10:40to have the figure standing?
10:41Unfortunately,
10:42when you have it in this way,
10:43the figure always
10:44falls backwards.
10:45Don't worry.
10:45I got you.
10:46I got you, buddy.
10:46If you have it too far forward
10:48this way,
10:48then the figure leans forward.
10:51You almost kind of
10:52really want to have it
10:53where it's in between this
10:54and in between this.
10:56Somewhere in between there
10:58would be the best place
11:00to stand the figure,
11:01and yet you can't.
11:02It's frustrating.
11:03You can't get it to the point
11:04where it's balancing enough.
11:06This Black Adam
11:07falls frequently.
11:09So that's why I was saying
11:10earlier,
11:11hold onto these for dear life.
11:12Don't let it go
11:13unless you have like
11:13300 of them over here.
11:15Definitely plug these
11:16onto the display stands
11:17because then you're not
11:18going to have any issues
11:19with Black Adam
11:20taking the tumble.
11:22For the figure's articulation,
11:23Black Adam is on a ball joint.
11:25Head-wise,
11:25at least it is.
11:26Head's going to rotate
11:27all the way around.
11:27At least there's enough
11:28space clearance
11:29to round his cape
11:30where rotating the head
11:31doesn't seem to be a problem.
11:33Head's going to look down.
11:34Quite low, in fact.
11:35He's actually looking at
11:36how much problems
11:37he's having standing.
11:39And the head can look up.
11:40The figure doesn't really
11:41have a flight stand
11:42as mentioned.
11:43I showed you guys
11:44all the things he has
11:45at the beginning
11:45of this review.
11:46A flight stand
11:46would be a good thing
11:47to display with this figure.
11:48I'm probably going to be
11:48making use of one
11:49that's right over here.
11:51His arms do rotate.
11:52Not the easiest though,
11:53but at least the shoulders
11:55being attached up here,
11:56not here,
11:57you could still pull off
11:58successfully a full arm rotation.
12:01The arms hinge out
12:02at 90 degrees.
12:04You can also take the biceps
12:05in the arms
12:06and swivel them
12:06back and forth,
12:07back and forth.
12:08The figure does have
12:09a double hinge on the elbow.
12:10Hmm.
12:11I wonder what the rock
12:11is doing right now.
12:13Probably peeing
12:14in a water bottle somewhere.
12:15What's that all about?
12:16The hands do rotate
12:17all the way around.
12:18They're a little harder
12:19to kind of get in there
12:20just because the gauntlet's
12:20in the way.
12:21The upper torso
12:22is going to be on a ball joint.
12:24The lower abdomen
12:25is also the same.
12:26Legs split out.
12:27Yes, they do.
12:28Yes, they do.
12:29You can take them
12:29and move them forward.
12:30You can move them back.
12:32There's a swivel there
12:32at the top of the thigh.
12:35There's a double hinge
12:35on the knee.
12:36The one thing though
12:37that the figure doesn't have
12:38is there's no swivel
12:39in the boot.
12:39The boot looks like though
12:41yeah, yeah,
12:42you can't budget at all
12:43and we've already
12:44kind of discussed
12:44the big issues
12:45when it comes to
12:46the figure's ankles.
12:47Ratcheted joints
12:47are fine and good
12:48but to get them
12:49somewhere meeting
12:51in between each joint
12:52that's the problem.
12:53That's the heartache
12:54you're going to be facing.
12:56No heartache really facing
12:57is the fact the figure
12:57does also have toe articulation.
12:59That bends fine.
13:01If you can get yourself
13:01a display stand going
13:02I'm going to do it right now.
13:04I don't want to just hope
13:05that I got this guy balanced
13:06start talking away
13:07wrapping up this review
13:08like I hoped to do
13:10and have this guy
13:11falling forward.
13:12I'm going to get him
13:13on display stand.
13:14So even then
13:15he really wants
13:18to lean backwards
13:18if it wasn't really
13:19for the fact
13:20that it's plugged down
13:20to the bottom of his heel
13:21he probably would do that.
13:23This Black Adam
13:24is really the one
13:25that's going to be
13:26standing in for me.
13:27Maybe I might
13:27if I can find it
13:28for a cheap enough price
13:29get still the endless
13:30winter Black Adam
13:31because again
13:31like he's got
13:32I think this has
13:33the better face
13:34I think the other one
13:35has the better costume
13:36except for the fact
13:36that the lightning bolt
13:37is there's too much
13:38of a chunky edge
13:39around it.
13:40I think this one
13:41has the better head
13:42even if I end up
13:43picking up the endless
13:44winter dirt cheap
13:45we're talking like
13:46really dirt cheap
13:47maybe I might see
13:48if I can swap the head
13:49out on this one
13:50with the other Black Adam.
13:52All in all though
13:52it's a good looking figure
13:53and while also too
13:54that this happened
13:55to be the same week
13:55that we were looking at these
13:56I'm going to bring back
13:57in John Constantine.
13:58Constantine more so
13:59I looked at
14:00because he was using
14:01the same body
14:01as Jim Gordon.
14:03I don't think any body
14:04has really been used
14:05any body has been used
14:07for the Black Adam here.
14:09I think he's a unique figure
14:10that's built only
14:11specifically for his own.
14:12He is a little cumbersome
14:14obviously he's got
14:15a lot more armor
14:15than maybe some fans
14:17of Black Adam
14:17would really like
14:18to have had.
14:19The biggest issue
14:19really is not necessarily
14:21the fact he has
14:21so much armor
14:22on his body
14:22it's more so down here
14:24here and here
14:27between like
14:28the gap space
14:29between his foot
14:30and the top of his boots
14:30and the fact
14:31that he has
14:32those ratcheted joints
14:33where they have to hit
14:34a certain ledge
14:35causes conflict
14:37when you want this
14:37I would say
14:39the one that was
14:39going to change
14:40the hierarchy
14:40of the DC films
14:41moving forward
14:42but again
14:43that didn't really
14:43work so much
14:44for The Rock
14:44he's certainly though
14:45from a figure standpoint
14:46a better looking
14:47Black Adam
14:48than we got
14:49on the feature film.
14:49I didn't feel the need
14:50really to add
14:51the extra electricity
14:52effect on the arm
14:53of Black Adam
14:53I think one is more
14:54than enough
14:55it gives sort of
14:56more of an imposing
14:57strength behind the character
14:58he certainly needs
14:59the strength in his arms
15:00he certainly doesn't
15:01have it though
15:01in his ankles
15:02the ankles
15:03again are the one
15:04problem I have
15:05really with the figure
15:06the sculpt is fine
15:07I don't even mind
15:08the fact that he also
15:09has the armor
15:09on his shoulders
15:10and the tattered cape
15:11on the back of his body
15:12ideally though
15:13I really would have
15:13liked it without
15:14but it doesn't bother
15:15me that it's there
15:16what really does
15:17bother me though
15:18is the ratcheted
15:19in between areas
15:20that ankles have
15:21on some of these
15:22DC figures
15:23it doesn't always
15:24happen with all of them
15:25but the ones that you get
15:27another one that always
15:28really kind of bothered me
15:28was the hush Batman
15:29where that mold
15:31there's always something
15:32about that angle
15:33where you can't get it
15:34in the spot
15:35that you have it
15:36it either leans
15:37too far forward
15:38or it leans
15:38too far back
15:39Black Adam has
15:41something similar as well
15:42I don't know still
15:43if I'm going to be
15:44getting that endless
15:44winter Black Adam
15:45I think for right now
15:46though I'm very content
15:47to keep this one
15:48on the shelf
15:49as my go-to Adam
15:50says now the guy
15:51well I'm sure
15:52I'm going to be
15:52finishing up this review
15:53and posting it shortly
15:54then of course
15:55McFarlane Toys
15:56is going to be announcing
15:56hey we've got
15:57a classic Black Adam
15:59in fact
16:02if you listen
16:02very carefully
16:03you might even
16:04be able to hear me
16:05go
16:05I just opened it
16:09I am still though
16:10like the look
16:11of the figure
16:12I mean like
16:12the paint on the face
16:13is good
16:13it's a little
16:14on the muddier side
16:15I like the look
16:16of the suit
16:17you know again
16:17like the armor
16:18isn't bad at all
16:19yeah
16:19good Black Adam
16:20just don't release
16:21any more Todd
16:21please
16:22then this would be
16:23done for nothing
16:24but what do you guys
16:25think of Black Adam
16:26let me know down below
16:26in the comment section
16:27is this a figure
16:28that you consider
16:29to be your go-to Adam
16:30or do you prefer
16:31another one instead
16:32I'm sure there's
16:33probably a collector
16:34out there that says
16:34no no no
16:35for my collection space
16:36I like to have
16:37Dwayne's Black Adam
16:38he's the predominant
16:40figure featured
16:41on the front of my shelf
16:41and then all the other
16:43figures have to bow
16:43before him
16:44because the power
16:45of DC hierarchy
16:46is about to change
16:47it never really
16:48changed at all
16:49Dwayne
16:49you just said that
16:50every time you
16:51enter a film franchise
16:52you always think
16:53that you're going
16:53to be the one
16:53that course corrects it
16:55you did technically
16:56do it for the
16:57Fast and Furious films
16:58you did somewhat
16:59do it lightly
17:00for the G.I. Joe
17:01even though again
17:02you were really
17:02only in the second film
17:03I don't think
17:04he really changed
17:05much in the way
17:05of hierarchy
17:06in the DC
17:07or films for that matter
17:08I guess maybe he
17:09I guess maybe he did
17:10make Jumanji cool again
17:12but Jumanji was cool
17:13anyways when it had
17:14Robin Williams
