00:14I be Orangebeard the Pirate Captain, and this be my first mate, Odie the Stupid.
00:19Here's your spooky spawn in the brand new Boss Fight Studio, Garfield and Odie, Halloween Adventure.
00:42Out of Garfield's most memorable stories is the one-two punch of the 1985 television special and comic Garfield's Halloween
00:48Adventure.
00:48Boss Fight Studio is celebrating the 40th anniversary of this hilarious and spooky outing with a special action figure 2
00:54-pack.
00:54Pirate Garfield has 25 points of articulation, a treat sack, wooden sword, pirate hat, interchangeable peg-leg, and alternate expression.
01:01Pirate Odie has 13 points of articulation, treat sack, interchangeable peg-leg, and alternate expression.
01:07You may be selfish and all that, but the one thing he's not, no, is a scaredy cat.
01:11Whether that's the case or not, we'll just have to wait and see.
01:13First, let's grab the tape measure and see how tall the new Boss Fight Studio, whoo, Halloween Adventure, Garfield and
01:18Odie are.
01:20I found this set on Big Bad Toy Store.
01:22Unfortunately, though, right after I ordered it, the set had sold out.
01:26Sure, you could still probably find it if you hop into an old wooden boat, go out in the middle
01:30of nowhere to some dilapidated house,
01:32listen to an old man sitting in his chair telling ghastly and ghostly stories,
01:36only to turn around and find out that the old man took your boat.
01:39That's gotta suck.
01:40What hopefully isn't going to suck is these figures.
01:43Now, there are some issues I'm going to fully explain in this review.
01:46I have a few little problems with the way that they design the characters, but overall, I think they look
01:50pretty good.
01:51For how tall they're going to be, though, after all that, boy, long-winded or what.
01:55First, the figure of Garfield stands about 4 inches.
01:58That's going to work out to be a figure that's about 11 centimeters tall.
02:01His first mate, Odie, is going to be obviously a little bit taller than that.
02:04He's actually more closer to about 4 1⁄2 inches, or about 11 centimeters tall.
02:09Unfortunately, I couldn't find any other Garfields in my collection,
02:11but I do have at least some figures that would be good for the spooky season.
02:14First, here's the first wave of figures from Jada Toys' Scooby-Doo.
02:17What's going on, by the way, with Wave 2?
02:19They've announced it.
02:20They've showed already images of it.
02:21Where are the Wave 2 Scooby-Doo, Jada Toys?
02:23I'm asking you.
02:25But in the meantime, though, we have, again, Shaggy.
02:27We've got Creeper here in the front, Mummy in the back.
02:29Figures that we've also looked at during the spooky season happen to be from Jack's Pacific.
02:33The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror figures, I'll just kind of bring in a couple right now.
02:36Werewolf Flanders, Vampire Krusty, and Kong Homer.
02:40These are a couple of figures I did also want to dust off for the spooky season.
02:43These do not happen to be from Jada Toys, or Jack's Pacific, for that matter.
02:46They're from Kenner, and that's the real Ghostbusters monster line,
02:49both the werewolf and Frankenstein's monster.
02:52Not really a monster-sized amount of accessories that come included with Garfield and Odie.
02:56There's a few little notable things that I wish the figures could have come included with,
03:00like, for example, the big pumpkin that would have covered over Odie's head.
03:03The figure doesn't have nearly enough peg legs, for example.
03:06And I feel like even, like, the treasure chest that, of course, the ghost pirates come back
03:10to claim, I think would have all been really well-welcomed accessories.
03:14But I think for what we get, aren't that bad.
03:16First of all, you get yourself some trick-or-treating bags.
03:18There are a difference between the two.
03:20This would be Garfield's.
03:21This would be Odie's.
03:22And the only reason why this is Odie's is this has to fit inside his mouth.
03:26I'll show you guys that.
03:26It actually involves first swapping out his face with that face that's right over there.
03:30Kind of looks like the whistle at, like, some construction plant.
03:35The figure does also come included, at least for Garfield, his wooden sword.
03:40The sword does have a peg.
03:41There's a reason for that peg.
03:42We'll talk more about that in a moment.
03:43It comes also included with a swappable leg, the pirate hat, a swappable face.
03:47That's all on Garfield.
03:49I guess, really, considering that we've already done all that of talking about it,
03:52let's actually show things on the figure itself.
03:55For starters, you can go ahead and take the trick-or-treating bag.
03:59Now, I find this is the better hand to have him holding it.
04:02Saying that, though, he has one problem.
04:04And actually, both these figures have this problem.
04:07Tiny little pegs.
04:09At times, though, pegs that don't really hold all that well.
04:11He holds the bag okay.
04:13The one problem, though, with at least this hand, see how small this peg is?
04:17This falls out frequently.
04:19You're always finding yourself constantly putting it back in.
04:22But I think, overall, he holds the bag decently enough.
04:25You can also take his trusty sword and wedge it into his other hand like that.
04:30Now, obviously, the one thing that's missing right now is his pirate hat.
04:32The pirate hat just fits over top of his head like that.
04:35And I think we've now got a completed look.
04:37Garfield and Odie going up to that woman's door.
04:39Was he threatened to destroy her curtains if she doesn't offer up more of the candy?
04:43It looks good, though.
04:45What's also kind of cool, but it doesn't work all that well,
04:47is that there's technically a place to store the sword.
04:51There's a hole here on the side of his sash.
04:53And looking at that peg we looked at earlier,
04:56you're supposed to take the peg, and it's supposed to attach into that hole.
05:00And it doesn't do that.
05:01The hole, first, I don't think is deep enough.
05:03And it certainly isn't large enough to accommodate the peg.
05:06What I end up having to do, and I feel like I didn't do it well enough,
05:10I took a screwdriver.
05:11I just made, I tried to make that hole a little bit bigger.
05:14And even then, it doesn't fit.
05:16But, so, I'm going to have to see if maybe I can find a way to make that hole a
05:19little bit bigger.
05:20For all intents and purposes, it's designed to hold the sword,
05:24but it doesn't end up holding the sword at all.
05:26I just dropped the sword on the floor.
05:28Garfield does also come include a swappable leg.
05:31Now, when he starts to be Orangebeard the pirate, he actually has a peg leg first.
05:36I guess realizing how uncomfortable that would be,
05:38I mean, Garfield's already lazy as it is.
05:40He ditches the peg leg in favor of just his regular leg.
05:44Like, how would, first of all, Garfield's foot even fit inside of a peg leg?
05:48It would be one of those questions we really don't have answers for.
05:50How you remove the leg?
05:52Well, I have an easier and complicated answer for that.
05:55You have to remove the leg.
05:57But, unfortunately, though, by the way they've designed this figure,
06:00let's make sure, first of all, his hat's all the way on there.
06:02To remove the leg, look at the tiny little peg that greets you at the door.
06:06It's small.
06:08Small in a way that I'm worried that the plastic is going to snap.
06:11I'm not probably planning to do this that often.
06:14I think, likely for Garfield, I'm going to just keep the peg on him when he's on display.
06:18For the purpose of this review, there's the hole there on the inside of his leg,
06:22and that's just going to fit onto his peg.
06:24It is supposed to snap in place.
06:26Snap, again, is probably not the best word to be really using.
06:29But you can tell when it's attached on there.
06:32Like, I think I've got that on there.
06:35Moving sometimes, though, the leg does result in the leg popping off that peg.
06:39Just, again, providing that you're very careful doing it,
06:41you can pop it back in the peg place.
06:43But it doesn't happen so much, though, for Garfield.
06:45It happens a whole lot more, though, for Odie.
06:48He does also have a swappable face.
06:50Now, again, you could either decide to have him displayed with the pirate hat on his head,
06:53or you could also remove the hat.
06:56Like that.
06:56He's got fully finished and painted underneath the few little things that it's missing, for example.
07:02On the inside, actually, he has what almost would have looked like places to put his whiskers.
07:06I'm looking at the inside of his hat, for example, and there's nothing really that would show...
07:11Like, there's no pegs on the inside where a hat would necessarily peg onto his head.
07:15So, why are there holes on the sides?
07:18I had to go back.
07:19I'm looking at the packaging again.
07:20I don't see whiskers.
07:22Unless the plan is, with the other Garfield figures that Boss Fight is released,
07:27maybe the idea is you can swap the whiskers out.
07:29Let's say, for all intents and purposes, you want to maybe use this head with another Garfield body.
07:34Maybe you could take the whiskers off the other Garfields.
07:36I'm saying all this because I don't have the other Garfields right now.
07:38Maybe the whiskers could technically peg into the holes on the sides of his head.
07:43That's a whole lot of just guessing.
07:45My guess would be, at least, I'm going to be likely displaying Garfield with the pirate hat on his head.
07:49It looks fairly cartoon accurate.
07:52Although, I think to look at the cartoon, these parts would be a little higher on the sides.
07:56The middle part would also be a little bit higher.
07:58It looks more like Cap'n Crunch's hat than the more squatter hat that we have right here.
08:03Now, if you want to change out the face, you could remove the hat.
08:06You could also just tuck the eyes underneath.
08:09But what you'll first have to do is just kind of unpeg it like this.
08:12Very easily, you can see where the shapes do match.
08:15So, you've got, again, like a square peg right there.
08:17You've got the square hole.
08:18To change the face out, just pop the new face in place.
08:21And now you have Garfield with a more surprised look on his face.
08:24Now, go ahead and put the pirate hat on there.
08:26Let's just say you want to be complicated.
08:28You want to be difficult.
08:30You want to remove the face without having to worry about removing the hats.
08:32Well, to put it all back in place, you have to tuck it then underneath the hat and plug it
08:37in like that.
08:37So, it works.
08:39I just honestly think it's a whole lot easier if you just remove the hat first.
08:42But if, you know, again, you want to be difficult, be difficult.
08:46Garfield's articulation, going through that right now, the head's going to be on a ball joint.
08:49It allows the head to move up and down, back and forth.
08:52His waist does also have the same, too.
08:55His arms move forward and back.
08:57Every, though, once in a while, as I'm doing it, you'll find that the hands, I find, the hands pop
09:00off.
09:01So, what I'll end up just doing a lot of times, moving the arms around first.
09:05There's a bend, by the way, in the elbow.
09:06There's a hinge, very tight, though, in the elbow.
09:09And then I'll just end up putting the hand back in place.
09:11It's only really this hand.
09:13The other hand doesn't seem to be as much of a problem.
09:15Legs move forward and back and out.
09:17He does have a bend in his knee.
09:19He also has articulation here in his feet.
09:21So, you can move those back and forth, up and down.
09:23And he does also technically have tail articulation there as well.
09:27It's a good Garfield, but the same problem I have really with Garfield.
09:31It's the same problem I've really had with Odie by a lot.
09:33And it's just by things staying together.
09:36Legs will pop off.
09:37Hands will fall out.
09:38It's just a lot of things that you'll find yourself constantly going back and having to redo.
09:43Garfield, Odie, you'll be doing a whole lot more of that.
09:47Garfield fully was fully constructed.
09:49I mean, in the way that, you know, as you move things around, sure, if a hand popped out, it
09:53was a small thing.
09:54You would just pop the hand back in place.
09:56Odie, you'll find yourself doing a whole lot more of that, unfortunately,
09:59because the figure is going to have a little bit more problems to him.
10:02He has, first of all, a peg leg.
10:05In the special, he really is supposed to have four peg legs, not just one.
10:10And then if you wanted to swap out the legs, there it goes.
10:14Everything on Odie sadly falls apart.
10:16You can pop off any one of his legs.
10:18Let's make sure we get that all the way on there.
10:20You can pop off one of his legs, for example, and then you can pop the new leg in place.
10:24Now, I would think, though, and I've only just done this to the back.
10:28It doesn't really matter.
10:29You could put, really, the peg leg here on the front of his body, too, because they all work with
10:32the same pegs.
10:33It's just, I'm trying to avoid having to remove the legs.
10:36Obviously, I get it.
10:38Striped sleeve is going to go with striped shirt.
10:40Technically, really, the peg is going to go in the front of his body.
10:42But really, though, Odie, when he's going out for his trick-or-treating night with Garfield,
10:46doesn't really even have peg legs in the first place.
10:48He just has his regular dog legs.
10:50So I have no real plans to display the figure with that.
10:54And by the way, again, like, look at the size.
10:56Look at that tiny little stem.
10:58An equally small peg, too.
11:00Where did the leg, where does his leg go?
11:02His leg's right over here.
11:04And of all the legs, of all the legs, this leg seems to be the one that falls off the
11:08most.
11:09I'm saying it now in advance because I know the legs are probably only going to fall off again.
11:13Odie does also have a swappable mouthpiece.
11:16So the way that this works is the head is attached by a ball joint.
11:21So let me just show you the differences between the two.
11:23You've got the tongue sticking up for Odie on the one, and you've got the teeth biting on the other.
11:28So if you had, like, for example, the trick-or-treating bag,
11:31it wedges in between the teeth like that.
11:34Works okay.
11:35The problem comes, though, is when you're trying to attach it back onto his body.
11:40Attaching it here isn't so much the problem because it's only really going to...
11:43There goes the leg again.
11:45It is only going to attach by balls.
11:47You know what?
11:47I'm just going to leave the leg off right now.
11:48It's attaching here by heat, by this.
11:51So that's fine.
11:53When it goes to attach to the top of Odie's head, though, this piece right here is supposed
11:58to go right in here.
11:59I know what simple shapes look like.
12:01That's a simple square.
12:02That's a simple square peg.
12:04And yet I always find myself never being able to get this properly onto Odie's head.
12:09I've forced it.
12:10Now, when you're also putting it in, you have to kind of put it in on an angle.
12:14You can't just put it straight up.
12:15You have to kind of tuck the teeth underneath the head, but it never really ever stays in
12:20properly in place.
12:21Let's go ahead.
12:22Where's his leg?
12:23Again, this happened, what, now twice?
12:25Everybody could take a tally of how many times this happens.
12:28Take the leg and pop it back in place.
12:31Yeah, I think Odie you're going to have to probably be a little bit more careful with
12:35when it comes to kind of moving things like his legs and attaching new heads in place.
12:39I think I probably would...
12:40Having said that, though, I probably would just end up going and displaying the figure with
12:43his tongue sticking out anyways.
12:44Anyways, the face for Garfield, face for Odie, sorry, looks pretty good.
12:48Got a little bandana there painted nicely with the polka dots.
12:51You got that little earring there on the top.
12:52That's not a real earring.
12:53I don't think...
12:54Poor Garfield.
12:55I don't think...
12:55Well, poor Odie.
12:56I don't think Garfield would have actually pierced his ears.
12:58But you got a little earring there at the top.
13:00Of course, the striped shirt, little tail there at the back.
13:02That looks pretty cool, too.
13:04Odie's cute.
13:05He just doesn't stay really well together.
13:07His articulation.
13:09I wouldn't really want to be able to say his head would rotate because that would be a bold
13:13face lie.
13:13He technically really has more of the possibility down below here in his neck, but his neck
13:17is always, always going to be falling off.
13:20Is that three times?
13:21That is three times.
13:22Each of the individual legs, by the way, is going to be, for all intents and purposes,
13:25on their own pegs.
13:26You can move also this part of the leg around.
13:29And there's technically articulation here in the individual feet as well.
13:34But the problem...
13:35Again, how many times have I now said problem?
13:38The problem is, really, Odie can't stay together.
13:40This part of his head just doesn't stay attached properly to the peg.
13:44Whether, again, you want to use that head or you take this off.
13:47Swap it out with the tongue head.
13:52These legs.
13:53These legs.
13:54And attach that back in place.
13:57Yeah.
13:58Odie is a good-looking figure, but he's just a mess to stay together.
14:02Back legs is probably the one thing that you're going to notice the most is falling off on
14:05the figure.
14:06But then also, too, it's just this head.
14:09This head never stays onto this peg.
14:11I mean, cosmetically.
14:12Oh, that was not a sound I really wanted to hear.
14:15I mean, like, for the way that they're designed, they're cool-looking characters.
14:18The problem with it, though, is, like, Odie.
14:20Odie is really the worst of the two.
14:23Now, I kind of look at this and I think to myself, like, what would I have done differently?
14:27Not that really my opinion matters.
14:29But I think, like, the construction works okay, but I probably would have just gone
14:33away completely with the idea of a tiny little stem and an even smaller ball joint.
14:37I would have relied, I think, on bigger ball joints on the legs and even done the same
14:41for the head, too.
14:42This peg system, the way that they've designed this piece, where that's supposed to sit
14:46inside the head, it never stays in place.
14:49I wouldn't really have expected the boss fight to actually come with two separate heads
14:53for Odie within the mouthpiece attached, because, again, I know that's going to be an
14:57additional cost of plastic.
14:59The set looks okay, but, again, like the construction of them, they never really want
15:03to stay together.
15:04Legs, again, more so Odie, really less for Garfield.
15:07Garfield's biggest real problem is, actually, if you ever want to change out the leg, then
15:11you're probably going to find that the leg, you're going to have to really fight against
15:14pulling it off the peg.
15:16And his hand is going to fall off a little more frequently than you would like.
15:20But Odie is really a mess when it comes to him staying together.
15:22His back legs, I find frequently, from the moment I got this guy out of the packaging,
15:26fell off all the time.
15:28And changing out his head is one of the biggest hassles I have to contend with.
15:31If you can get past those obstacles, reaching over those obstacles that were presented in
15:37front of you, and you don't mind just having these things on the shelf where you're not
15:40really going to be messing too much with them, then, yes, they are good-looking figures.
15:44Pick them up, though.
15:45Start to move them around.
15:46Start to move and bend their joints.
15:48That's really when you're going to start to notice the real problems hiding behind the
15:51scenes.
15:52Having swappable faceplates and mouthpieces are, as Garfield would say, nice touch.
15:57What isn't, though, is the way it was executed.
16:00I think Boss Fight Studio had, for all intents and purposes, good plans in mind when it came
16:04to constructing these figures, with the idea that you could remove the faces, you could
16:08remove and change the legs out with the peg legs.
16:11First of all, Odie doesn't really have peg legs.
16:13He has four at the beginning of the episode when he first walks on the counter.
16:16But then he kicks them, or I think Garfield knocks them all off, and most of the time
16:20that he's going out for the adventure of trick-or-treating with Garfield, he's not
16:23even got really peg legs in the first place.
16:25So right away, that's not something I have planned to display with the figure.
16:28You don't have to let me know down below in the comments that I put the peg on the
16:30wrong leg.
16:31Yes, I know if I was to match up the sleeve and match the stripes, he really should have
16:35had the peg leg on the front.
16:36But considering, really, that he doesn't even have it in the adventure, I'm fine just to
16:4086 that altogether when it comes to displaying these guys on the shelf.
16:44Garfield is probably the better of the two figures.
16:46More of him seems to stay together.
16:48He has, again, this weirdness where he's got these holes on the tops right by his ears
16:53that look for, really, that they should have whiskers.
16:56But I guess they chose to leave the whiskers off.
16:58Maybe does that mean that Boss Fight does have swappable whiskers with their other Garfield
17:03figures?
17:03I'll only really know that if I end up picking up the others.
17:07Odie really is the hardest figure to kind of deal with out of the packaging.
17:10There's so many things on the figure that just doesn't stay together, or you'll find
17:15that they're often falling off.
17:17Swapping out the mouth, for example.
17:18Now, the tongue mouth, unlike the one that bites his trick-or-treating bag, seems like
17:23you could actually push enough pressure against it, and it snaps, clicks into place.
17:27I couldn't get that at all to happen with the other one, so it's constantly falling off.
17:32It stays okay in the neck area, but the head fur Odie just never seems to stay on top
17:37of it, and it falls off.
17:38What also falls off is you, how many did we count?
17:41Four or five times it happened over this review.
17:43The back of his leg, one of his leg, falls off the most.
17:46In fact, actually getting him out of the packaging, that leg was left behind.
17:49And I thought first that I broke it, realizing later it was just a tiny little peg.
17:54The tiny pegs, I think, is my biggest problem with this.
17:57And I would think, though, that that's probably going to be a problem that's across the board
18:00with all the Boss Fight Studio Garfield figures.
18:03You can't be using small pegs like that.
18:05And I could say that a peg would work probably equally as well as a ball joint, but a ball
18:10joint would probably keep the leg better in place.
18:13Swapping out just a little stem and a tiny, I mean, it looked like a pin needle head on
18:18the end of it.
18:19Could they not have just used a larger ball peg?
18:21I think you probably would have had, first of all, less likely things to break on it.
18:25And then also, like the legs for Odie would have stayed better in place.
18:28Because the back legs, I know, aren't flat, but even just to move the legs, they're always
18:33falling off.
18:35Frustrated.
18:36Can you even tell?
18:36Probably a guy, a hard guy to read.
18:39I'm very frustrated with Odie.
18:41I'm not really as frustrated with Garfield.
18:43Now, I don't really have plans to have these things displayed all year round anyways.
18:47At the time that I start to kind of pack things up for Halloween, when Halloween's all over
18:51and I have to start thinking about Christmas, I think most likely I'll be putting these guys
18:55back into a tote with all the rest of my Halloween-themed figures and collectibles, with only really
19:00the idea of bringing them back for Halloween 2027.
19:04But what do you guys think of the Boss Fight Studio Halloween and Odie, Garfield and Odie
19:09Halloween Adventure set?
19:11Have you picked this one up for yourself?
19:13If you have also had similar problems with your Boss Fight Studio Garfield figures, whether
19:18again, it be the Halloween Adventure or not, let me know your experiences with the company
19:22down below in the comments section.
19:23If, in the meantime, you guys did enjoy this spooky review, do it, of course, the solid
19:28and hit it with a like.
19:29If you guys also want to stalk me over on socials, you can so easily do that.
19:33You don't need to listen to some old guy talking about when he was a kid and saw pirates
19:37dropping off their gold.
19:38Why didn't we get a treasure chest?
19:40Why didn't we get a treasure chest, at least with this set?
19:43I hope.
19:44I don't know how far really Jada Toys, how far really ahead Boss Fight Studio is thinking
19:48about this.
19:49Could maybe we get ourselves a ghost pirate set that comes in with a little treasure chest?
19:52We don't need floorboards.
19:53We don't need to have a pirate ship out in the distance.
19:56Just ghastly, spirited pirate ghosts with a treasure chest.
20:00I think I would love to have that set as well.
20:02But yeah, if you guys do also want to stalk me on socials, you can find all those necessary
20:06links down below in the video description.
20:08If you also need a fix for the rest of your video content for the rest of Spottober, I know
20:12technically, yeah.
20:13I mean, we could talk and discuss the elephant in the room.
20:15Oh, it's a ghost elephant too.
20:16We can talk the fact that it's way past Spottober now.
20:19We're like well into November, but we're still going to be kind of looking, sprinkling
20:23in a few extra Halloween goodies in there.
20:25I'd like to really consider that it's going to be Halloween all year round, even though
20:29my outdated calendar tells me I have to stop.
20:31We're not going to stop.
20:32We're going to keep pushing forward, but there's going to be a lot more content coming your
20:35way.
20:35So keep your ghoulish peepers peeled to this channel.
20:37As always, thanks for watching.
20:39See you guys next time.
