00:00I see McFarlane's not only enlisted the help of artists, but now assassins.
00:04Here's a look at McFarlane Toys.
00:06DC Multiverse, McFarlane Collector's Edition, Deathstroke the Terminator.
00:30Deathstroke is the most feared and respected mercenary in the world.
00:33His elite military training and genetically enhanced physique make him a very dangerous combatant.
00:38But his deadliest weapon is his mind.
00:40A master strategist and tactician, Deathstroke specializes in psychological warfare tactics that he uses to devastating effect.
00:48Wilson here knows that every task needs a tool, and before we actually look at the tools of the trade,
00:53let's take the tape measure and see how tall Deathstroke the Terminator stands.
00:56Of the recent releases that McFarlane has put out, Deathstroke probably was pretty high on my list,
01:02along with the recently looked-at Mirror Master.
01:04If you haven't had a chance, by the way, to look at the Mirror Master review that I've done, go check that out.
01:09Actually, hold on a second. Don't check it out just yet.
01:12Watch the video for this first, and when you're done, jerk back and watch the video.
01:18Thank you in advance.
01:19The tool of the trade, for me at least, isn't necessarily one that gets loaded,
01:23but it certainly is loaded with numbers.
01:25Eh? Okay, that wasn't the best.
01:27My tool of the trade is my tape measure.
01:29My tape measure is telling us that Deathstroke stands at 7 inches in height,
01:33working out to be a figure that's 18 centimeters tall.
01:36I can tell you right away, the one thing I really like about Deathstroke is the classic look of his costume,
01:40and it fits in really well with the recent released figures that we've gotten from Todd and his team.
01:44I'm using this really lately as my stand-in Batman.
01:47I know for a while it really has been the Nightfall Batman,
01:49but I feel like really he's been replaced, even though this one doesn't really have the wires built into his cape.
01:53A missed opportunity.
01:55He still right now is my go-to Batman.
01:58Bringing, though, other figures of a classic style.
02:00Here's what the figure looks like with the Silver Age Joker.
02:03Why not?
02:03Here's the Riddler as well.
02:05Now, Riddler did get a couple of releases.
02:07I actually really prefer this Riddler a little bit more.
02:09I also really prefer this version of Two-Face a little bit more, so let's bring him in.
02:14Deathstroke?
02:14Here's Deadshot.
02:15Let's bring in Deadshot also.
02:17Off to the side here as well.
02:18Let's bring in the recently looked-at Nightwing.
02:21Oswald Cobblepot?
02:22Why not?
02:22He can make an appearance too.
02:24And speaking also of appearances,
02:25this really isn't the first time that we've gotten ourselves a Deathstroke Terminator.
02:29We did technically get this guy here as well,
02:31but obviously the one in the foreground is a little bit more modern.
02:35Slade gets stuff.
02:36You want to look at his stuff?
02:37I figured you would.
02:37The figure first does come included with a trading card.
02:40The trading card, unfortunately, though,
02:41by maybe the way I was taking it out of the clamshell,
02:43kind of the little reinforced frame of plastic that kind of holds it in there,
02:47hopefully not to prevent suffocation.
02:49But unfortunately, though, by maybe the way I removed it,
02:52it caused warpage.
02:53I really hate a warped card.
02:56But one thing I do really like, though,
02:57is the image that they've used on the front.
03:00Really good use of source material.
03:02Because, again, you can look to the right,
03:03so you can look to the left.
03:05Go back, go back, go back and forth.
03:06And see, really, if they've matched all the features on the figure,
03:10or have they missed some of that.
03:12In this case, no, I don't think they've missed the mark at all.
03:14Really nice looking image of Deathstroke.
03:16On the side there as well,
03:18probably not spelled out,
03:21or not flat top from Dick Tracy,
03:23but at least printed out,
03:25we've got McFarlane Collector's Edition on the side in silver.
03:27On the back, his real name is Slade Wilson,
03:30in case you didn't already know that.
03:31This paragraph, in case you didn't already know that,
03:34I've read at the beginning of this video.
03:36Don't tell everybody,
03:37or they're going to want me to read it for them.
03:39Let's move the card off to the side.
03:40The figure does also come included with a brand new display stand.
03:43Not new in the sense of the shape,
03:45not new in the sense of the color,
03:46not new either by the fact there's that peg off the far corner.
03:49New more so for the fact there's the new DC Classic logo down below,
03:52that's now the logo that we are using,
03:54kind of moving forward.
03:55I like the look of the logo.
03:57I'm not going to spend a whole lot of time talking about it.
03:58I don't really like the way it's placed.
04:01I really feel like it should have been turned around,
04:03but that's neither here nor there.
04:05Let's put that over here.
04:07Now the figure does come included with quite a lot of guns.
04:09I can tell you right away,
04:11here's one issue I really have with the figure,
04:12is that they tried their best to reuse existing molds
04:16that were already there before.
04:18As an example, I'm going to bring in Keanu Reeves.
04:20What weird segue we have right here.
04:23The only reason why I really bring him in,
04:24and I know they probably have likely used the firearms as well
04:27for their armory sets, but that Keanu Reeves,
04:29can I just bore your gun for a second?
04:31No, no, no, I'll bring it back.
04:32And no, I haven't touched your dog.
04:33Let's just move on.
04:34Let's move him out of the way here.
04:36The gun that we actually got with Keanu,
04:38even though that's not the name of the actual character,
04:40in fact is the same gun that we also get with Slade.
04:43It's not to say, again,
04:44I know that they probably have likely released this
04:46with the armory sets too,
04:47but I'm only, again, really using this example
04:49more so to drive home the fact that they are reusing molds again.
04:54It's not a bad thing,
04:55but the problem with this though,
04:56and the clip, by the way, is not removable.
04:58The problem that goes with this though,
05:00is that you're taking something that already exists
05:02and then you're trying to find a way
05:03to make a figure work with it.
05:05And I don't feel it works all that well.
05:07Some of these work a little bit better than others.
05:09I mean, I think you can kind of buy into the fact
05:11that Deathstroke would have large weapons
05:13like this from the wield.
05:15This would be most definitely taking out his target
05:17and everything else around it.
05:19Hopefully nobody's walking their dog at the time
05:21that he's taking out his target.
05:22But these, I think, are overly large guns,
05:26but I think I can kind of say,
05:27okay, maybe, you know what?
05:29They're big, but they're big to the extreme level
05:32that I could see something like Deathstroke
05:34carrying these around.
05:35I have more of a struggle when it comes to the M16.
05:38The M16, I feel, is just way too big,
05:40especially when you put it against the size of his body.
05:42I mean, the figure does have a gripping hand.
05:44In fact, actually, he has another one over here as well.
05:46If you put like the M16 into his hand,
05:48the handle isn't necessarily large,
05:51but I feel the moment you put the gun into his hand,
05:53and it might just be me,
05:55I feel like the gun is way too large.
05:57Now, if you were to say, like, take this gun,
05:59obviously this gun's much larger,
06:00but I feel like this is so much more over the top anyways.
06:03I'm a little more accepting of a gun like this.
06:06I'm less accepting of a gun like this.
06:08The figure does also come included,
06:10as with the other three guns we've already had a look at.
06:12He also has a pistol.
06:14Now, the pistol is a good size.
06:16I don't think it's overly large.
06:17The thing about it, unfortunately, though, with that,
06:19while it's not as large to fit in his hand,
06:21what they tried their best to do
06:23was they gave him a holster on the side
06:25to specifically hold this pistol.
06:27Now, if this pistol did exist
06:29before the release of Deathstroke,
06:31the thing about it, though,
06:33is making the molding of the holster
06:35the size to accommodate this pistol,
06:38I feel it ends up making it way too big.
06:40It looks like he's carrying around,
06:41like a lunchbox,
06:43a big, large lunchbox,
06:44probably not,
06:45and you probably could have stored
06:46a couple of sandwiches in there
06:47instead of a pistol,
06:48but I feel like it maybe
06:49is a little too large for the figure.
06:52It sort of throws the proportions off a little bit.
06:55What doesn't throw off the proportions, obviously,
06:57is the fact the figure does come
06:58and also includes some swappable hands.
07:00Now, on the ends,
07:00he already has,
07:01on the ends of his forms, that is,
07:02he has one to hold
07:03the bottom stock of the gun.
07:05He also has a gripping hand on this side.
07:07What he does also have at his disposal
07:09is a close-punching fist
07:10and another gripping hand.
07:12So if you want to have him
07:13dual-wielding weapons,
07:15simply would just attach this hand.
07:16You want to see it?
07:17Okay, I figured you would.
07:18Just remove the hand from the peg,
07:20like that.
07:21Take the new hand,
07:22obviously, we will want to use,
07:23and just pop it on the peg.
07:26There we go.
07:27And now,
07:28now let's take these overly,
07:29oversized guns
07:31and do our best to kind of
07:32fit them in his hand.
07:33Now, this one is the little harder one to do
07:34because you kind of have to twist
07:35to get it in his hand.
07:37Is it a little too big?
07:38Some could say yes.
07:39Some would say not big enough.
07:40For those that say not big enough,
07:43I think that's,
07:43I think it's too big of a gun,
07:44to be honest.
07:45But anyways,
07:45get both the guns in his hands.
07:47It does make, obviously,
07:48his arms a little more front-heavy.
07:50And this one's a little harder to hold
07:52just because, again,
07:53like the way that this handle is designed.
07:55But if you want to have him
07:56wielding both guns excessively,
07:58you can do that with Deathstroke here.
08:02Let's remove the guns.
08:04Put them off to the side
08:04for at least right now.
08:06Okay.
08:07As for Deathstroke himself,
08:09how did the figure turn out?
08:11There's technically, by the way,
08:12two releases of Deathstroke.
08:13One more in the classic colors
08:14of the blue, the orange.
08:16Colors that really realistically
08:17shouldn't really go together,
08:18and yet they go well in hand.
08:19Of course,
08:20says the guy also
08:21that just looked at Mirror Master
08:22and thought that orange and green
08:23worked really well.
08:24I think like the blue,
08:25if you're familiar with Deathstroke,
08:26you'll be automatically familiar
08:28with these colors.
08:29There is also, as well,
08:30a variant release of this guy
08:31that's going to change the blue
08:32and the orange in favor
08:33of more of a silver and a black.
08:34I'm not really sure
08:36if I'm going to get my hands
08:36on this one.
08:37Truth will be told,
08:38I'm kind of more interested
08:39in getting just the classical
08:40look of Deathstroke.
08:41Now, Deathstroke's known always
08:42for having one half face,
08:44so you can't really see his eye
08:45on one side.
08:46So that's been well represented here.
08:48A little bit of gold there
08:49on the side for his ear.
08:50And then you can see there,
08:51there's the eye on the other side.
08:53The way they've painted
08:54the figure looks good.
08:56I mean, if you really were
08:57to be a stickler for the details,
08:58you could probably say for yourself,
08:59like the neck color
09:00isn't really quite the same orange
09:02that they've used for his face.
09:04I'm okay with that.
09:05The gold looks really quite good.
09:06I like the use of this metallic blue
09:08they've got to the top here.
09:10The blue also works really well
09:11for the arms,
09:12the torso area.
09:13The thing that's also interesting too
09:15is that this particular color
09:16carries with it
09:17some additional texturing.
09:19Both the abdomen area has this.
09:21This is supposed to really replicate,
09:22I guess, his chain mail.
09:24But he's also got texturing there
09:25also on his leg.
09:27Now, whether they have, in fact,
09:28used these body parts
09:29from any other figure,
09:30I could only really just guess
09:32that that would probably be the case.
09:33Or maybe they would have had
09:34to tool this figure from scratch.
09:36The back of the figure
09:37looks just as good
09:37as it does from the front.
09:38He obviously has
09:39this armory bandolier
09:40that you could really
09:41technically take off
09:42if you want to.
09:42This is basically
09:43just all a loose piece.
09:44But I feel it adds to the character.
09:45Why would I feel a need
09:46to ever take that off?
09:48The gold looks good.
09:49He's got that on top of his glove.
09:51Bands that also as well.
09:53Dividing, of course,
09:54the darker blue
09:54with the lighter,
09:55more kind of
09:56Superman blue, I suppose.
09:59The only other issue
09:59I have really with Deathstroke
10:01isn't just the fact
10:02that the guns, I feel,
10:02are too oversized
10:03for the figure.
10:04I feel like there are
10:05a few little things
10:06that they've done
10:06when it comes to
10:07painting this figure
10:07that don't really work for me.
10:10The orange works well,
10:11I feel, for the glove.
10:12It's somewhat of the same orange
10:14that they've also used
10:14for the belt.
10:15Now, they've gone in here
10:17and they have painted
10:17what only seems to be
10:19the top flaps
10:20of each of the individual pockets.
10:22There are areas
10:22I feel like obviously
10:23have been left off
10:24completely from the painting line
10:26and then they get started
10:27to get over here.
10:29I don't really feel like
10:30these need to even be here.
10:31I mean, if you look at
10:32kind of what the unfinished
10:33pocket would look like,
10:34I don't think it's all that bad.
10:36I think it draws more attention
10:37to the fact that
10:38the top flaps
10:39are the only things
10:39that got painted.
10:40I really feel like
10:41they didn't need
10:41to paint this at all.
10:43Something else also
10:44that when you kind of
10:45look at the figure,
10:46you realize that
10:46they've added darker areas
10:48to some areas
10:49that are orange
10:49and then they've left
10:50other things just unfinished.
10:52As a good example,
10:53you can see
10:54like the top of his boots,
10:55the flaps that he has,
10:56all here get painted
10:57with a darker wash of brown.
10:59Yet his feet
11:00don't get that at all.
11:02I feel like he would have
11:03had to decide
11:03one or the other.
11:04It can't be both.
11:05Either have the plastic
11:07matching the boots,
11:08so of course the two colors
11:09would go well together,
11:10or paint the feet
11:11so that the top flap
11:13would look also matching
11:14that of the feet.
11:15I just feel like
11:16there's too much
11:17of a separation of color.
11:19They really should have
11:19matched better these together
11:21or really kept the color
11:22more closer
11:23to the bottoms of his boots
11:24and then only just added
11:26a slight bit of it.
11:27I feel like maybe
11:27there's maybe too much
11:28there on the tops.
11:30He does also have that
11:31in the trunks area as well.
11:32I think maybe just
11:33pulling it back a bit,
11:34just pull it back a bit.
11:36It doesn't need to be
11:36as much as it is right now.
11:38For the rest of the figure though,
11:39again, there's no real issues
11:40I have necessarily
11:41with Deathstroke
11:42other than oversized guns
11:43and areas where I feel
11:44like there was just
11:45too much generosity
11:46given to the paint,
11:47where there didn't need
11:48to be generosity
11:48in the first place.
11:50For the figure,
11:50there's articulation
11:51going to Deathstroke's head.
11:53Now his head does rotate
11:53all the way around.
11:54This also gives us now
11:55a chance to see as well
11:56the little strands
11:57that he has always
11:57on the backs of his mask.
11:59You want to be careful
12:00though as you flip this around.
12:02The head does bend down.
12:03It does look up.
12:04You can also rock it
12:05back and forth as well.
12:07The upper torso
12:07may be a little harder
12:08to get to just because
12:09he's got the bandolier
12:10in the way,
12:10but it does in fact
12:11have a ball joint
12:12so you can rotate
12:13that all the way around.
12:14Further from that,
12:15the figure does also
12:16have a ball joint
12:16at the base of his abdomen.
12:18The arms rotate
12:19all the way around.
12:20You can also do this
12:21with the arms.
12:21What's that?
12:22That's 90 degrees.
12:23What's that?
12:23That's a T pose.
12:24What's that?
12:25I think I've given you
12:26enough information.
12:27But the arms do hinge out.
12:28You can also as well
12:30swivel at the bicep.
12:31It does really,
12:32when you look at it,
12:32it kind of looks like
12:33there's no swivelage happening,
12:35but you can in fact
12:35actually turn the bicep.
12:37The figure does also
12:38have a double hinge
12:38on the elbow
12:39so he can make himself
12:39a muscle.
12:40There's also a hinge
12:41back and forth for his hands
12:42so he can rotate them
12:42all the way around.
12:44For Deathstroke's legs,
12:45they split out.
12:47Now his holster,
12:48as big as it may be,
12:49at least is separate
12:51from everything else
12:51around it.
12:52So when it comes
12:53to splitting his legs,
12:53you won't have
12:54any issues whatsoever.
12:55Legs go forward.
12:57They go back.
12:57They go what?
12:58They go back.
12:59There's a swivel
13:00at the top of the thigh.
13:01The figure does have
13:01a double hinge on the knee.
13:03No articulation,
13:04which was kind of surprising.
13:05I thought this top
13:06of the part of his boot
13:06would be able
13:07to move back and forth
13:08but doesn't seem
13:09to be the case.
13:10He does have
13:10an ankle pivot.
13:11He does have
13:11an ankle rocker.
13:13And the figure does
13:13also have, yeah,
13:14toe articulation.
13:16One last thing
13:17just before we kind
13:17of wrap up this review.
13:19Leaning off to the side here.
13:20I should have really
13:20had this guy more ready.
13:21Here's the modern
13:22Deathstroke
13:23that we had before.
13:25Again, pick your poison.
13:26I mean, both figures
13:27are fine,
13:27but we really haven't
13:28gotten many examples
13:29of Deathstroke
13:29the Terminator.
13:29I prefer the one
13:31that I'm currently
13:32tapping at over here.
13:33Not as much
13:34the one I'm tapping now.
13:35This was a fine
13:36Terminator for its time,
13:38but I feel like
13:38the new Deathstroke
13:39is definitely doing
13:40things a lot better.
13:41He's not perfect.
13:43There are a few things,
13:44again, when I'm looking
13:45at the figure like this,
13:45I think to myself,
13:46he would be good
13:48and perfect
13:48if he didn't have
13:49like the following things.
13:50And really,
13:51those following things
13:52are only really two things.
13:53Again, I feel like
13:54the guns could have been
13:55just a little bit smaller.
13:56The M16,
13:57maybe more so
13:58these guns,
13:58I think I could probably
13:59get a little bit more behind.
14:01Some have also,
14:02unfortunately,
14:03caused an issue
14:04with making the holster
14:05on the side of his leg
14:06overly big
14:07when it didn't need
14:07to be big before.
14:08Had they maybe even
14:09given him a smaller pistol,
14:11could it then justify
14:11giving him a smaller holster?
14:13And it wouldn't look
14:13as large as it is right now.
14:15The only other thing
14:16that I could pick out
14:17as being a point to mention
14:18is probably, again,
14:19like the paint.
14:20I feel like the gloves
14:21work fine.
14:22The back of the pockets
14:23would be right back here.
14:25The back of the pockets
14:26look fine.
14:26I don't feel like
14:27he necessarily needed.
14:28This would almost be
14:29a kind of case
14:30where I'm saying to myself,
14:31paint, I think,
14:32didn't need to be applied
14:33to this figure.
14:34It didn't need to be applied
14:35to the tops of the flaps
14:36because I think it just
14:36draws more attention
14:37away from them.
14:38I feel like also,
14:39like the trunks
14:39and the tops of his boots
14:41need to be toned down
14:42just a bit.
14:43Other than that, though,
14:44I really like the look
14:45of Deathstroke here.
14:46Now, again,
14:46I'm not really sure
14:47if I'm going to be getting
14:47myself the variant release
14:49of him that's essentially
14:49just going to be
14:50taking the same mold,
14:51stripping away all the things
14:53that make him garish
14:54like this.
14:54The blues,
14:55the oranges,
14:56and swapping them out
14:56instead with silvers,
14:58grays, and blacks.
14:59But I think if you really
15:00are looking to collect
15:01the classic-looking figures,
15:03the one that we're getting
15:03right now is the best
15:05Deathstroke we've gotten.
15:06I would have said
15:06that extending out
15:07your arm to fire a gun
15:08like that would be
15:09next to impossible.
15:10But then again,
15:11we are also talking
15:11about Slade Wilson.
15:13Slade Wilson,
15:13outside of the few things
15:15that I did mention
15:15in this review,
15:16is pretty perfect.
15:17I mean, there's,
15:18yeah, again,
15:18like, you have to kind of
15:19look at the mold.
15:20The mold on its own
15:21stands on its own.
15:23I think the only thing
15:24that really does miss
15:25a mark,
15:26speaking of an assassin
15:27after all,
15:28this hired gun,
15:28I think the only thing
15:29he misses on is paint.
15:31And in this case,
15:31it's not that he lacks paint.
15:33I feel like he almost
15:34even has too much of it
15:35had they, again,
15:36just pulled it back a bit
15:38on what he has
15:38for the tops of his boots
15:40and the front
15:40of his actual trunks.
15:42Because unfortunately,
15:42like, even as you see
15:43as the figure rotates
15:44on the rotisserie,
15:45all the paint
15:46that the paint team gave him
15:48seemed to only be
15:49on the front of the figure.
15:50The back of his trunks
15:51don't have it.
15:52The back of the pockets
15:53don't have it either.
15:54He does technically
15:55have it on the back
15:56flaps of his boots,
15:57so it's not like
15:58they completely
15:58just called it in.
15:59But I still feel like
16:00there's a lot less paint
16:02that need to be
16:02on this figure.
16:03It's fine to put paint there,
16:05but I think that you have
16:06to be kind of strategic
16:07where it needs to go.
16:09And I think where it went,
16:10where it ended up going,
16:11though, on Wilson,
16:12we're all in the wrong,
16:13we're all in the wrong places.
16:14I think if anything,
16:15the boots needed to be
16:16colored the exact same
16:17as the flaps,
16:18or again,
16:19like the flaps
16:19didn't need to have the paint,
16:20so they blended better
16:21with the boots.
16:22Other than that, though,
16:23perfect looking Slade Wilson.
16:25A Deathstroke does have,
16:26again, some armory
16:27at his disposal.
16:28Some could say still
16:29a little too large
16:30on the guns.
16:31These large guns,
16:32I think,
16:32make a little bit more sense.
16:34The M16 that I pointed out earlier,
16:36probably could never see
16:37myself displaying that.
16:38I mean,
16:38seeing, though,
16:38as I pulled Keanu's,
16:40I know, again,
16:40it's not Keanu Reeves,
16:41but seeing as I did
16:42borrow his gun before,
16:43I might just give him
16:44the M16.
16:45I'm sure he'll come
16:45and used to it.
16:46But what do you guys,
16:47though,
16:47think of Slade Wilson?
16:48Let me know down below
16:49in the comments section
16:50those two points
16:51that I pointed out
16:52in this review.
16:53The excessive need
16:54for the paint
16:54and the oversized guns.
16:56Are those two points
16:57that you would also agree
16:58are the only things
16:59that stumble on this figure?
17:00Or do you disagree
17:01and think,
17:02this guy has no idea
17:03what he's talking about?
17:04If I have no idea
17:05what I'm talking about,
17:07do let me know down below.
17:09If you guys did also
17:09enjoy this video,
17:10you can do it as solid
17:11throw it a like.

17:15at some more DC Multiverse
17:16reviews in the pipeline.

17:19yelling in the back,
17:19hey, that's my thing!
17:20Well, I hope that would
17:21be your thing
