00:00Gone the form of man, rise the demon, Edrigan.
00:03Uh, again.
00:05Here's a look at McFarlane Toys.
00:06DC Direct, the new Batman Adventures, Edrigan.
00:30Edrigan was a lesser demon of hell who burned with rage and ambition.
00:35When he rebelled against the Master Lucifer, the Infernal Lord allowed the magician Merlin to bind Edrigan to a human scribe named Jason Blood.
00:43When danger threatens, Jason switches with Edrigan, but is transported to hell while the demon is in control.
00:49For his part, Edrigan resents being forced to act like a hero for a human and plots to gain his freedom.
00:55I think judging by the size of the demon, I may have to switch places with some of the figures I currently have on my shelf.
01:00Before we get a closer look at the demon, Edrigan, I'm going to take the tape measure, as of course we always do here, and let's see how tall the figure stands.
01:07While I'm doing this, I'd like to thank the folks over at McFarlane Toys that again came through and did provide this sample.
01:13Edrigan is available either in stores, or if you've had no luck to find this in the wild, you can also check online.
01:19The figure as a whole is going to stand at 6 inches in height, working out to be a figure that's 15 centimeters tall.
01:25Speaking of switching, one could have also swapped this figure with the DC Direct one that got packed with Clarion.
01:30A two-packed, in fact, that we've actually looked at earlier here on this channel.
01:34Unfortunately, though, as it normally be the case, Murphy's Law, I can't find that figure at all.
01:39So I'm not going to be able to bring in that original Edrigan.
01:42However, though, however, I can bring in some of the other figures that we've already had a look at, more importantly, like Mr. Freeze.
01:47Not that Mr. Freeze ever really teamed up with the demon, but though that Mr. Freeze was a figure that we looked at this week.
01:53Bringing in the blue Batman, just because that's also a re-released figure from Todd and his team.
01:58Let's also bring in some other figures that tend not to see light of day here lately.
02:01Here's first what the figure looks like with the original Batman animated series Bane.
02:05And, of course, we've also got Killer Croc.
02:07Some could say, what a croc.
02:08This figure doesn't come in clue with a Clarion, and I'm okay with that.
02:11I think, really, most people would be more interested in getting Edrigan over having a two-pack.
02:15Especially, also, that the two-pack would involve costing, obviously, a little bit more than buying the singular release of him.
02:21Even though he doesn't actually have the child demon.
02:23What he does have, though, instead, is the figure does have a screenshot from the episode.
02:28This is the new Batman Adventures.
02:30One thing I will say, though, is that the image that they used isn't the clearest.
02:33It could have just been where they pulled the source from.
02:37But I feel like they probably could have used a clearer image.
02:39Not, maybe, in fact, one where Edrigan has to share the screen with somebody else.
02:42The back, by the way, is pulling from the episode of The Demon Within.
02:46Which was a Season 1, Episode 10 episode.
02:49Episode 10 episode.
02:51Synopses is that Batman and Robin enlist the aid of the demon Edrigan when an ancient artifact is stolen.
02:57The original air date for this was May 9th, 1998.
03:00It was directed by Atsuko Tanaka and a story by Stan Berkowitz.
03:06One thing I liked before, you can also take these and fold them out.
03:09If you're one that doesn't really like to have photos displayed on your mantle,
03:12hey, as an option available, you can display these on your mantle instead.
03:16Somebody could have kind of walked through your house.
03:18Oh, do you have pictures of the family?
03:19I think they walk over.
03:21Is that a picture of a demon?
03:22Yes, in fact, it was.
03:24Let's go ahead and just kind of move this out of the way for right now.
03:26The figure does also come in clear with the display stand.
03:28And those by now familiar with the new DC logo stands will know that McFarlane Toys
03:33essentially does use the regular DC Direct shape, but then cast it instead in black plastic.
03:38Instead of having the front side and three-quarter turn rotation of Edrigan,
03:43what they choose, though, instead is just simply print the new Batman Adventures on the top.
03:47I kind of like this.
03:48It's a little more cleaner.
03:49It's a little more precise.
03:50It's directly to the point.
03:51Some, though, prefer, though, the turnaround.
03:53If you're obviously interested in that, you may want to source out and get the DC Direct one instead.
03:59Now, assembly for this, by the way, when you're having basically this pulled out of the packaging,
04:03consists of three parts.
04:05Now, when you go to put the post into the hole, it's not just a case of fitting a circle into a circle.
04:10When you look at it, though, you can see that...
04:12If I could just hold this real close.
04:13You can see that...
04:14See the top of this is actually flat.
04:16Normally, though, you'd have yourself a cylinder or a long post.
04:19But the only part that's different is this flat piece right here.
04:23And when you put it in, you'll have to see that it also has to go to a direct size or a direct shape.
04:27So you can't put the regular circle in.
04:30You can.
04:31You'll only have to force it.
04:32You'll only end up breaking it.
04:33And you'll cry like a child instead.
04:36No, what you'll have to do differently is use the flat end.
04:38I know we're not going to eat up a whole review just talking about the display stands.
04:41But you'll see.
04:42That fits fine.
04:44Then you get yourself the waist clip.
04:45Now, the waist clip is different this time around.
04:48McFarlane Toys enlisted the aid of using a spring, where this does open up, and it fits around Edrican's waist.
04:54The thing about it, though, is using one that basically is used all across the board,
04:58and they're basically painting a big, broad brushstroke across all the figures.
05:02You'll notice, though, with Edrican, he's got notably a much wider waist.
05:05So this doesn't really technically fit really around his waist.
05:08You'd have to rely more on having this clipping around his leg.
05:12And even then, he's got a meaty thigh.
05:14Let's just take that off for at least right now.
05:17Put the figure down for a second.
05:18The figure does, I would say, normally use a display stand.
05:21Probably be a good idea.
05:22Just because Edrican is a little broader in the shoulders, a lot more weight up in the top of the torso.
05:27Display stands certainly would be readily available, or should really be readily available.
05:32Now, this also, I've noticed, too, is a little tighter on the post.
05:35We looked at Mr. Freeze earlier into this week, and I noticed with his, it sat really loose on the post.
05:43Edrican seems okay, though.
05:45With that aside, the figure does also have some swappable hands.
05:48On the ends of his forearms currently, the figure does also have closed fists.
05:53If you don't like the look of closed fists, perhaps may I recommend instead the figure does have some gripping hands.
05:58What he's actually gripping, though, is unknown,
06:00because the figure doesn't have any other accessories than what you're currently seeing right now.
06:03If you didn't want to swap these out, though, it's just a case of yanking off the ones on the ends of his forearms and swapping out with these instead.
06:10I think, though, choosing instead to go with the much better-looking sculpted hands, he does also have, like, demon kind of clawing hands.
06:16More relaxed hands than anything else, but at least these give you the chance to see his nails.
06:20He keeps his nails in somewhat pristine condition.
06:23There's no additional paint or anything on that.
06:24I don't think it necessarily needs it either.
06:26Swapping out the hands, though, hold on to the forearm.
06:29Don't let go of whatever you do.
06:30This guy's not going to like the idea of you yanking off his hands anyways.
06:33But you'll notice, though, taking off the hands, not hard at all.
06:37Putting the new hands in also very, very easy.
06:40We'll do it on this side as well.
06:42Pop that off.
06:43Swap it out with a relaxed hand.
06:45And now you're good to go.
06:46Yeah, this definitely gives him a little bit more character, personality.
06:50Although, again, it's going to make the figure a little bit more top-heavy.
06:53I did notice, though, getting this guy out the gate, out of the packaging.
06:57Seems a little loose in the ankles.
06:59We're going to kind of talk about that more in a moment.
07:01First, though, picking up Edrigan.
07:02I feel like if you had picked up already the two-pack with Clarion, you're essentially getting the exact same figure.
07:08I don't know, though, if Edrigan ever got a singular release.
07:10You can let me know down below in the comments section.
07:12But for what I remember, and from what I've seen, this looks to be the original Edrigan.
07:16And not really much changes when it comes to, certainly, the colors either.
07:20The reds are all still there.
07:21The grays are all still there.
07:22And, of course, he still has really quite an ugly-looking mug.
07:26The thing about the figure's face, though, is while really retaining the same mold as the original Edrigan,
07:31I think from what I remember, the colors seem, on the yellow at least, a little bit more custard in color.
07:36The original Edrigan, I seem to recall, being a much lighter yellow.
07:41Lighter yellow in, obviously, the head and then the hands and his legs down as well.
07:45It's funny, though, that this guy walks around in shorts and, like, elf shoes.
07:49The cape looks also to be the exact same from before.
07:51It's using a much softer, though softer, a much heavier cape.
07:56I mean, using a rubbery material works fine and good because it does have a little bit of give.
07:59You can do a lot more with a cape.
08:01You can't do this if this was plastic.
08:03But because of that, though, it does make the figure a lot heavier.
08:06And, again, stating this already, getting this guy out of the packaging,
08:09I noticed that his ankles seem loose.
08:11This one more so than this one here.
08:13But all in all, though, I really like the look of Edrigan.
08:16Truth be told, though, I really would have liked if this guy could have come and included some accessories.
08:20But I know, really, that the budget was eaten up with just the size of this figure.
08:23The thing about it, though, is with McFarland Toys essentially just rehashing molds that DC Direct had already done before.
08:29DC Direct essentially did do all the costs, all the paying up front,
08:33to make the molds, to cast the molds, to release the figures the first time.
08:36McFarland Toys essentially is just going in there and just reusing the molds that already exist.
08:40I don't think he's necessarily tweaking or changing anything that's already there.
08:44So he's already saving the cost on the mold.
08:46He's not saving the cost.
08:47He's obviously saving the cost of producing the tooling.
08:50So I think that with that budget being saved, they could have included some additional accessories.
08:55Now, again, he doesn't have Clarion, but maybe a scroll, maybe something could have included with the figure.
08:59The fact that even the fact that they teased that the figure does have a gripping hand and he doesn't have anything to actually grip.
09:05Just a scroll, just something I think could have gone a long way.
09:09Or a torch, even like a torch would have been fine.
09:11A torch or a scroll, something along those lines.
09:15For the figure's articulation, though, if you're familiar with the original Edrigan, then you'll know this one as well.
09:19He is, though, quite prickly, as you'll see on the sides.
09:23His ears are very spiky, as well as he's got the horns on the front of his face.
09:26So when you're holding on to the figure and you're turning him, you can really feel, especially his ears.
09:31Don't be running around the kitchen with this guy in the hand.
09:34Because if you happen to fall on Edrigan's ears, ouch, you're not going to be hurting your ears.
09:38You're going to be hurting your eyes.
09:40But yeah, the figure does have a ball joint, so you can rotate it back and forth.
09:44Head looks, it's going to look up not much, though.
09:46The head looks a lot better lower, though.
09:48The figure's head also does rock back and forth, which kind of gives you a cool looking pose for it.
09:53For his arms, they swivel back and forth.
09:55You can also hinge them out.
09:57Despite having so much mass, the figure surprisingly pulls off a quite successful T-pose.
10:02The figure does also have a single hinge in the elbow that allows the forearm to rotate back and forth.
10:07Whether you want to use these hands, whether you want to use the closed fists,
10:10or whether you want to use the C-clamp gripping hands,
10:13they all basically give you the same swivelage all the way around,
10:16and the same hingage, where you can move that back and forth.
10:19Say, what?
10:20No.
10:20Also a hinge there as well.
10:21Upper torso is going to be on a ball joint, so that moves quite freely up and down.
10:25Not only really is it on a ball joint, but you can also see as well,
10:28he's got a crunch joint right in the middle of his tummy.
10:32There is no swivel there for the waist.
10:34I don't think it necessarily needs it.
10:35The color is pretty close.
10:37There are a few little things that you'll see where the red isn't quite the same color.
10:41The red seems brighter, though, on his arms.
10:43They also seem brighter down below here on his legs.
10:45They seem more muted right around this area here.
10:48The legs do split out.
10:50Now, these are on hinge joints.
10:52I did notice, though, something about this.
10:54Oh, it's almost this one leg.
10:55Mr. Freeze had this problem, too.
10:56One leg seems super tight.
10:58The other leg seems more freer to do what it needs to do.
11:01Speaking of what it needs to do, it can also do this.
11:04You can bring the legs forward.
11:05You can bring them back.
11:06There's no swivel.
11:07While it may look, though, there's a cut where his shorts would be.
11:10That's more just paint.
11:11That's all it's doing.
11:12There's a hinge only in his knee.
11:14The lower leg doesn't rotate or anything like that.
11:16Don't turn it, whatever you do.
11:18There is no articulation here for the boots or the shoes.
11:22There is an ankle pivot or an ankle rocker, I should say, but there is no pivots.
11:27I do really wish that this figure could have had pivilage in his anklage so that you can
11:31actually rock these back and forth.
11:32Because of that, though, you're always kind of feeling that you're balancing this figure
11:35on not really even flat feet because the feet kind of angle up like this.
11:39I mean, he stands fine on them, but I think if he had had only just an ankle pivot, the
11:45figure could have done a better job of balancing.
11:47Because when you put him down on a shelf, for example, see how his duck bills down below
11:52aren't completely flat.
11:53They almost kind of go this way.
11:55And that certainly doesn't help when it comes to the stability of Edrigan.
11:58Outside of, though, it's a nice looking figure.
12:01I really am disappointed, though, that I couldn't even find where I put the other Edrigan.
12:04Now, again, that other Edrigan was released by DC Direct or DC Collectibles, if you prefer,
12:10as part of the Batman New Adventures.
12:12He was packed along with, as well, with Clarion.
12:14And I swear to you, I thought the figure was, I thought I had him in a tote.
12:19And while I was kind of going around looking for the things I want to use for comparisons,
12:22thinking, though, I would be able to easily find Edrigan, his whereabouts, again, unknown.
12:27So while, unfortunately, you don't get yourself Clarion, you do get yourself, I guess,
12:31as a trade-off, you get yourself a framed photo of Edrigan.
12:33And a little on the blurrier side, I do kind of wish it was a little clearer than what
12:37we actually get here.
12:38But as a singular release, if you want to save the cost of getting a two-pack for Clarion
12:42when you have little to no interest in the child, getting a singular, though, release
12:46of Edrigan might be the better bet for your collection.
12:48I don't really know if it's a good idea to rotate a recycled demon, but yet we push forward.
12:53You may notice, though, I'm pushing forward without the use of the display stand.
12:55While the display stand is the same one that we've gotten already from McFarlane Toys
12:59and the new Batman Adventures, having recycled the base, recycled the post,
13:03and unfortunately, recycling the waist clip just isn't going to be able to fit around
13:08Edrigan's wider waist.
13:09It works okay with regular Batman animated series figures, but because, again, Edrigan
13:14is a beefier boy, it's not going to do as easy of a job fitting around his.
13:19The figure is a recast, essentially, from the one that we've already gotten before.
13:23Some may have already picked up that two-pack from DC Collectibles in the past and may choose
13:27just to pass on Edrigan altogether.
13:29The thing about this guy, though, is that the colors seem a little richer from what I
13:33remember, and while, unfortunately, again, he doesn't have Clarion, what he does have,
13:37though, is not the clearest of photos, but at least he gets himself a screen grab from
13:41the episode he appeared in.
13:43Other than that, though, some swappable hands are about the only other thing that the figure
13:46does have.
13:47And because, again, they save, really, the cost of producing this figure from scratch, just
13:51really using a retooling of a mold that they already have or had belonged to another
13:56company, I feel it could have maybe been the opportunity that they could have invested
13:59some of the additional budget to then include maybe a scroll, a torch, something, though,
14:04that Edrigan could have been known for outside of the regular hands he already had before.
14:09A big thank you, again, though, to the folks over at McFarlane Toys that did provide the
14:12sample.
14:13This was the new Batman Adventures, and this was Edrigan, the Demon.
14:16What do you guys think of the figure?
14:17Let me know down below in the comments section.
14:19One question, certainly, I would like to pose to you guys is if you already have the Edrigan
14:23from DC Collectibles, is there enough, at least, for the changes that they've made that's
14:28worth picking this figure up again?
14:29If you guys did also enjoy this video, you can do it a solid throw at a like.
14:32You guys want to stick around for more?
14:33So, I hope so.
14:34Hit that subscribe, turn on that bell, so you're going to get the reminders every time
14:38that a new video gets posted.
14:39And speaking of posting videos, there's going to be more posting and coming your way.
14:43As always, thanks for watching.
14:44See you guys next time.
