00:01Previously on Project Runway All Stars...
00:03It's the unconventional challenge.
00:08We go from team challenge into, like, animalistic mayhem.
00:10Hey, you're stealing my .
00:12Oh, my God. Justin is a genius.
00:18It's perfection. That's like some kind of wonderful bird.
00:22I love this dress.
00:24It's almost wheezed like a lacquered tweed.
00:26The winner this week is...
00:28Justin!
00:29Yay!
00:30I have never won one challenge in the entire project one day.
00:35It's not terribly flattering on her.
00:37And the silhouette is taking it so 80s.
00:40This is not enough.
00:41It just looks like another pretty dress in any department store.
00:44The eliminated designer is...
00:46Alexandria.
00:49Fourteen of the best designers from Project Runway are back.
00:55This time, the competition is bigger than ever.
00:59Each week, their skills are tested to the limit as they compete for the largest prize in runway history.
01:07Who will be cut?
01:09And who will have it all sewn up?
01:11This is Project Runway All Stars.
01:12What do you think we're doing?
01:21We are going to the Gershwin Theatre.
01:22And as we were walking up, I realized it's wicked.
01:23You guys, I don't think we're at Parsons anymore.
01:24This looks so cool.
01:25I love the smoke.
01:26I'm surrounded in like smoke machine.
01:27It's kind of overwhelming and I don't know what's coming next.
01:31Oh my gosh.
01:32How about this for an entrance, huh?
01:33Alyssa descends from the heavens in a bubble.
01:34What could be better than this?
01:35What could be better than this?
01:36Designers, welcome.
01:37You guys, I don't think we're at Parsons anymore.
01:38This looks so cool.
01:39I love the smoke.
01:40I'm surrounded in like smoke machine.
01:42It's kind of overwhelming and I don't know what's coming next.
01:45Oh my gosh.
01:46How about this for an entrance, huh?
01:56Oh my God.
01:57Alyssa descends from the heavens in a bubble.
02:00What could be better than this?
02:02Designers, welcome to the Gershwin Theatre, home of the Broadway production of Wicked.
02:08This musical has become a global phenomenon seen by over 42 million people worldwide.
02:15It's the story of the good witch Glinda and the wicked witch of the West before Dorothy arrived in Oz.
02:24Wicked's theme is that there are two sides to every story and that's a little clue to this week's challenge.
02:31Please welcome the current witches of Oz, Broadway stars Christine Dwyer and Jenny Barber.
02:38I'm trying not to freaking fangirl out right now because I want to.
02:45Well you may know my character Elphaba as the wicked witch of the West.
02:49And my character is known as Glinda the Good.
02:51But in Wicked the Musical we learn that things may be deceiving and what you thought was wicked may actually be good and vice versa.
02:59One of the best parts about being in Wicked is getting to wear Susan Hilferi's Tony Award winning designs.
03:05They are fabulous, couture inspired, one of a kind creations.
03:10The black dress that the wrist is wearing right now is what inspired me to go into fashion.
03:15This is coming in full circle for me.
03:18Designers, the theme of this week's challenge is good or wicked.
03:22As a tribute to Glinda and Elphaba's famous rivalry, let's make this a fashion face-off.
03:32Oh.
03:33We are having a fashion face-off.
03:37Surprise, bitch.
03:38You will each face-off against another designer.
03:41There will be a high score and a low score awarded within each pair.
03:44In Elphaba's famous hat, there are six good cards and six wicked cards.
03:50Justin, you won last week's challenge so you can pick first. Come on up.
03:57I don't like that I'm going head-to-head with Justin because I like him and I'm gonna have to take him down.
04:02I am faced off against Kate.
04:07I refer to her as the evening wear princess and that's just so out of my realm.
04:12So I feel like she automatically has a slight edge against me.
04:16Oh.
04:18Going head-to-head with Helen has me a little worried because Helen's really good.
04:22I have my competition set out for me.
04:24I'm super intimidated going against Chris.
04:28I mean, he does gowns. He's dressed Meryl Streep.
04:31He's a force to be reckoned with. It's pretty terrifying.
04:35I am paired up against Sam.
04:37And I really like her, but that doesn't stop me from taking her down.
04:41So I got the wicked and Gunner got the good.
04:45Obviously, he's gonna lose the challenge to me.
04:48Just not even a question about it.
04:50Your challenge is to create a couture-inspired gown,
04:54which conveys feelings of wicked or good.
04:58I may look like a good girl, but I got a naughty side too.
05:02I wanna explore it a little bit.
05:04Couture, by definition, means hundreds of hours of detailed work.
05:08You only have two days.
05:10Oh, boy.
05:12Couture, it's one of a kind.
05:14A lot of handwork and lots of details.
05:17And that's how I work, so that's the perfect challenge for me.
05:21You're gonna sketch here before shopping at Mood with your budget of $250 each.
05:26What?
05:27Thank you so much to Christine and Jenny.
05:29And I'll see you guys on the runway in two days.
05:32You're not supposed to say good luck in the theater, so break a leg.
05:36I think I'm ready to sketch.
05:38I'm ready to sketch better.
05:40Aha!
05:41So I'm creating a good look, and my vision is to create this beautiful kind of structural short dress
05:51that will have an overlay dress that will facet at the waist.
05:55But because it isn't my realm, I am very nervous about it.
05:58He's more brooch.
06:00I'm sketching one sleeve asymmetrical gown.
06:02The flames symbolize the wicked, and I think it's a great graphic detail.
06:07I am doing good.
06:08So my vision is very sleek and upscaled.
06:12I want to put pants for the gown because no one else would think that way.
06:18Okay guys, it's time to go to Mood.
06:20Wait for us.
06:22We're coming.
06:27Guys, you have 30 minutes to shop.
06:29Spending somebody else's money.
06:31Couture for $250 is nuts.
06:34Boning.
06:35Where's boning?
06:36Excuse me.
06:37My design style is definitely more wicked.
06:39It's just what naturally comes from me, and I see this awesome sequin material.
06:44And so I go with that.
06:45It's going to be really sexy and tight, and then it's going to have like a big mermaid hem.
06:52And then I'll need five and five.
06:54Okay.
06:55Can I get five yards of this?
06:57I chose wicked.
06:58So my outfit isn't going to be black like most people's.
07:03It's going to be gray.
07:04And so my idea is to make a long fishtail dress.
07:10I think it's very show-stopping.
07:12You guys, 15 minutes!
07:15Ooh, this is a workout, Ben.
07:18This is a workout.
07:19Let's go this way.
07:20Okay.
07:21And then it's just going to be a peg that's all ruffled.
07:23I got good, so I'm going to do all of these crazy ruffles out of silk organza and just
07:28kind of taper them down to the floor.
07:30I want to like bring something really fresh because I want to win it.
07:33I know I can't afford all of this.
07:35$2.50.
07:36$21.
07:37$2.50.
07:38I got you, girl.
07:39I got you.
07:40Woo!
07:41Time, guys!
07:42Thank you, boo!
07:43Woo!
07:44Woo!
07:45Woo!
07:55Love it.
07:57Something tells me they put the evil pairs together.
08:00We might be enemies on the runway in a day or two.
08:04They're both going to be so good we're going to have a tie.
08:06It sucks that I have to go against Chris.
08:09It really does because he's, I think, one of my closest friends here.
08:13But it's important for me to win this challenge, definitely.
08:15You know, the more the judges see me in the bottom, they're just mentally going to be
08:18like, ugh.
08:19My regals or whatever?
08:20I'm going to love you.
08:21What is it?
08:22Lace?
08:23Oh, Sanji, I love.
08:26I feel like there's definitely some stiff competition with Sanji.
08:30It's making me really push myself to be edgy.
08:33I mean, look at Sanji.
08:34She's so edgy.
08:35I need to, like, meet that halfway.
08:43Fabio is the winner.
08:44For the first challenge, I was the winner last week.
08:46And so, you know, two winners competing against Zizona.
08:49I know how talented Fabio is, so I'm intimidated, but I'm excited too.
08:56Oh!
08:57So it's a gown in the front, completely backless, and then pants.
09:02Gotcha, bitch.
09:04I think the biggest risk that I'm taking is that I'm not going traditionally with a gown,
09:11but I'm feeling confident.
09:13Obviously, Justin is a talented designer, but I think this is what's going to settle the score.
09:18I really want to beat Dimitri, dude.
09:20What?
09:21I really want to beat Dimitri.
09:23That's my goal in life right now.
09:28I love Dimitri, but I want to beat him so bad.
09:31Good God.
09:32Like, I don't even care.
09:33I could go home next week as long as I beat him on this one.
09:36It's not going to be easy.
09:38Oh, no.
09:39For nobody.
09:40He underestimates me completely as a designer, and I would love to kick his ass.
09:45That's time.
09:46Let's go.
09:47We're done for the day.
09:48Off we go.
09:52Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
09:54There is one too many ideas here.
09:57Dresses are being completely reworked.
09:59I have never felt this much anxiety.
10:02It looks like...
10:03A Bride of Frankenstein.
10:04All right.
10:05Let's get down to the get down.
10:06Gunner has a lot to do today.
10:07Who's Gunner?
10:08Who's Gunner?
10:09Who's Gunner?
10:10Who's Gunner?
10:11I'm going to...
10:12It's going to be a peg.
10:13Does that detail continue down?
10:14Oh, yeah.
10:15Yeah.
10:16I feel very confident with my design, but I'm looking over at Helen's and I'm seeing all
10:20of the technique that she's using, and I am feeling a little bit of heat.
10:22Stop talking.
10:23Get working.
10:24Keep going.
10:25Keep going.
10:26I'm going to do all of these crazy ruffles out of silk organza and taper them down to the
10:32floor.
10:33Hopefully I can just nail this.
10:34I call them feathers, but it's actually organza.
10:35Yeah.
10:36And I'm going to tie that all into the embroidery.
10:37Oh, cool.
10:38Helen's dress is fantastic.
10:39She's going way further than anybody else.
10:40I'm just trying to get mine done and have some time to work it.
10:41You know?
10:42We get it.
10:43My design will be beautiful if it's executed the right way.
10:45And I'm going to do all of these crazy ruffles out of silk organza and taper them down
10:47to the floor.
10:48Hopefully I can just like nail this.
10:49I call them feathers, but it's actually organza.
10:50Yeah.
10:51And I'm going to tie that all into the embroidery.
10:52Oh, cool.
10:53Helen's dress is fantastic.
10:54She's going way further than anybody else.
10:55I'm just trying to get mine done and have some time to work it.
11:00You know?
11:01We get it.
11:02My design will be beautiful if it's executed the right way.
11:09But I'm not going to lie.
11:11Jay's is like gorgeous.
11:12And so I just need to make sure that mine is equally as beautiful with a little bit
11:17of an edge.
11:18We shall see.
11:19You have to hand sew it?
11:21Yeah, because to machine sew it, it's going to ripple the charmeuse.
11:26This design is risky for me because it is so far out of my comfort zone.
11:31For the past two challenges, I've made pretty white dresses.
11:34Which, don't get me wrong, I make my living off of pretty white dresses.
11:37But let's see if I can do a wickedly pretty dress.
11:46Hello, all stars.
11:47How are we doing?
11:48Hi.
11:49Hi.
11:50Okay, fun challenge.
11:51To create contour-inspired gowns based on the themes wicked or good.
11:57Now, obviously every week is very important to win, but this week we have a super special
12:02prize.
12:03Your winning design will be displayed in the Gershwin Theatre for everyone to see.
12:08Oh, my God.
12:09That's amazing.
12:10I mean, this is epic exposure.
12:13So we're going to start with Mr. Chris Marsh.
12:17All right.
12:18Hello, young man.
12:19Hi.
12:20Oh, young.
12:22Are you good or are you wicked?
12:24Wicked.
12:25Wicked.
12:26Over this basic gray stretch wool fishtail dress, there is going to be this big petticoat
12:31that I've been working on.
12:33This can't look at all crafty.
12:35Right.
12:36Concentrate on that win.
12:37Okay.
12:38Because it's an epic prize.
12:39I will.
12:40All right.
12:41But unfortunately, I have to beat Michelle.
12:43Well, that's the thing about this challenge.
12:44You guys have basically got one piece of competition and that's whoever you've been paired with.
12:49I wish I hated her.
12:50Looking at Chris's, it kind of feels like it needs to be in like the best little whorehouse
12:55in Texas.
12:56I feel like my dress is a lot stronger than his.
12:58Minimal is fine, but it has to be exceptionally well done when it comes to couture.
13:03Yes.
13:04Tell me about your wicked witch over here.
13:06I wanted to make something dramatic because the show was dramatic.
13:10So I went with traditional black.
13:13Craftsmanship is great.
13:14This is a couture challenge.
13:16It has to have a wow factor to it.
13:19Absolutely.
13:20And who are you up against?
13:22My friend Gunner.
13:23So he's a good witch.
13:25Gunner again.
13:26Dimitri's look is like a Nancy Kerrigan gone wild look.
13:31It's like ready to die.
13:32This right now feels a little bit old fashioned.
13:35You've played it safe and I think you need to push it.
13:38Okay.
13:39I have wicked for this collection.
13:42I presume so.
13:44Tell me, who are you facing off with?
13:46I'm facing off with Bobby O.
13:49And how are you feeling about that?
13:50Because both of you have been winners.
13:52I know.
13:53And we got so close over the time we're here.
13:56So it's kind of tough competing.
13:58It's really sweet.
13:59I mean, we'll serve friends.
14:01We'll survive.
14:02Good luck.
14:04Remember your competition.
14:05Really.
14:06I'm pairing it with pants and also with this idea that she's harnessed into the gown.
14:12Oh, that's already bad?
14:14Oh.
14:15I feel like there is one too many ideas here.
14:17Mm-hmm.
14:18This has to look like a gown.
14:19Right.
14:20You saw what happened to Alexandria last week.
14:22Mm-hmm.
14:23She leaves the table saying, remember what happened to Alexandria last week.
14:26She went home and I don't want to go home.
14:28So, not a good critique.
14:30You're obviously good.
14:31Yes.
14:32Who is the wicked to your good?
14:34A little evil smile over there.
14:37I really wanted to do kind of this very regal, hopefully not costumey look.
14:43I think you've got a very modern silhouette.
14:45Mm-hmm.
14:46I see you in this and I see a couture dress.
14:49Mm-hmm.
14:50Which is awesome, high five, well done.
14:52Okay.
14:53I cannot get over the irony that you pulled the wicked look.
14:56I was actually really excited.
14:58Okay, so we've had two white dresses from you.
15:00Yes.
15:01And this is clearly the antithesis of both of those dresses.
15:03Exactly.
15:04Avoid every bone in your body that's taking it into a costume place.
15:08Absolutely.
15:09What have you done to your hand?
15:10It's from making ruffles.
15:11Yeah, both my hands went numb.
15:13Oh, gosh.
15:14Making this?
15:15Yeah.
15:16Use this sparingly.
15:17Mm-hmm.
15:18This fabric could read...
15:19Kingstonura.
15:20No, looking like a shower looper.
15:22Right.
15:23Like, you've got this beautiful dress.
15:26I'm sorry.
15:27As much as I was thinking I was going to just come in second to Helen,
15:31now I'm feeling like actually maybe I do have a shot to be number one.
15:35My dress is wicked.
15:37She's wicked here, she has a split here, she's wicked there.
15:40You've got tough competition today.
15:42I know.
15:43I've seen Helen's dress.
15:44I know, I've seen Helen's dress.
15:45Don't go predictable in any way, shape or form.
15:48Mm-hmm.
15:49Maybe a wide leg pant is going to look more elegant.
15:51I like your advice a lot.
15:53Right now, it's Dollsville.
15:55This is boring as hell.
15:57Okay.
15:58Seriously.
15:59Okay.
16:00You need to take some Sam, inject that into this dress and make it the most killer cool couture gown.
16:07Okay.
16:08For this challenge, I don't think Sam is my competition because this isn't really her forte as a fashion designer.
16:14I feel confident that I could win this.
16:17I want you guys to all remember this is the couture challenge.
16:21Get rid of anything that resembles crafty and replace it with exquisite details.
16:26All right, good luck.
16:28Bye-bye.
16:30Bye-bye.
16:37So Xana leaves and I decide to start over because I'm going home with what I already have on the mannequin.
16:43So I take the material that I decide to work with, which is the sequins, and I decide to make it the main feature.
16:49I think you should still put the pan under there.
16:51No, no, no.
16:52The pan is not going anywhere.
16:55Trust.
16:56Trust and believe.
16:58After Xana's critiques, I'm really out of place.
17:03I'm switching a little bit the game plan.
17:05I'm draping a second dress just so I have two options to try on my model.
17:11Hey, girl.
17:12Maybe it will work this way.
17:14I don't know.
17:15This one is a lot of pins, so let's be careful.
17:19When the model comes around, I have two dresses to fit on her.
17:22One that I love and then one that I like.
17:25Okay, so pants fit.
17:27I need a light.
17:28I need to hit my head and tell me what to do.
17:30One thought.
17:31I love this, but are you going to hear Isaac Mizrahi say it looks like a apron?
17:38Or a bride of Frankenstein.
17:40You guys are like my life up.
17:42They all talking about Fabio dress.
17:45For half an hour speaking about, hmm, this dart.
17:49No, seriously.
17:51But I would wear this if I were a woman.
17:54It's called the work room, not the talk room.
17:57So if they want to talk, let them talk.
18:00I will work.
18:02I get excited when I see it.
18:05Let's do it.
18:06Listen, thank you for everything.
18:08Go, go, girl.
18:10Ha, ha, ha.
18:11It's going to be beautiful.
18:12Yeah, Sam.
18:13The sparkle is really beautiful.
18:15It's going to be Stella.
18:16Did y'all tell Alexandria this last week?
18:18Let me know.
18:20I'm missing a piece.
18:22I got like leather bits in my eye.
18:25I think some dresses are being completely scratched.
18:29I feel fine.
18:30I see some other people are freaking out.
18:32I can't figure this out.
18:34Oh my God.
18:36Time's flying.
18:37I have to finish the outfit.
18:39I still have to finish the pants.
18:41I have to do the hem.
18:42I have to do the waist.
18:43All right, you guys.
18:44It's time.
18:45Let's go.
18:46I have never felt this much anxiety.
18:49And ever.
18:52Bye, couture.
18:53See you tomorrow.
18:58Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
19:01Here comes the dress.
19:02Priest's dress is not.
19:04I don't like it.
19:05Dimitri Dima.
19:08I don't know how couture it is, except for the fact
19:10that you can see her couture.
19:12It's just a little bit of a little bit of a costume.
19:13Let's go.
19:14All right.
19:15And then we're back in the work room.
19:16Oh, look.
19:17She's so pretty.
19:18This is bull .
19:19I'm just kind of running things through my head, like exactly what I'm going to do as
19:25soon as I see my model.
19:26And the major things just to get it complete.
19:29get it complete, and then if there's time,
19:31iron, steam, and make it look decent.
19:34I don't know.
19:35Sitting next to Sam and looking at the piece
19:37that she's working on, it's all over the place.
19:39I feel confident that I'm gonna win this competition.
19:42This is what makes this piece culture, hand stitch.
19:46Models.
19:47Models are the ones.
19:48Hello, models.
19:48Hi, how are you?
19:49Hello, model ladies.
19:50How are you?
19:51Oh.
19:52How's it going?
19:53Hey, how are you?
19:55This is your skirt.
19:56I have a lot to do, so I usually get naked
20:00so I can fit you.
20:03Here comes the dress.
20:05I'm feeling really good.
20:06I love the way my dress looks.
20:08It looks great on my model.
20:09I think it's one of the best ones.
20:11I'm gonna get this up to the right spot.
20:13Chris, dress is not my personal...
20:18I don't like it, okay?
20:21Give the drama, like, you know what?
20:24Dimitri Dima.
20:27You can tell that he was a ballroom dancer
20:29because he just made a ballroom gown.
20:32I don't know how couture it is,
20:33except for the fact that you can see her cooter,
20:35so it's cooter tour.
20:37All right, girl, let's go to the Chi Hair Care Salon.
20:39Get your hair done.
20:42Tuck it all up and under.
20:44I want to kind of...
20:45a really large, oversized, like, faux bun, like that.
20:47Yes.
20:48So I want to do just the center part,
20:50really Valentino.
20:51I'm gonna do a double braid very close to the head.
20:53That'll come back.
20:56I take my model to the Mary Kay Color Design Studio.
21:00What I'm thinking is a non-existent eye,
21:02like, either white or nude.
21:04I just want to go kind of, like,
21:05darken the stairs a little bit in her eyes.
21:06So we're gonna take the Mary Kay at play
21:08and just paint on a gorgeous white eyeliner.
21:11Okay.
21:11From the QVC accessory wall,
21:15I picked some beautiful statement pieces.
21:18Okay, perfect.
21:20And I think I have a pretty good chance to win.
21:23So cute.
21:24It's, like, radiating.
21:25My gown is drop-dead gorgeous.
21:27Ready to win this,
21:28because it's a couture challenge,
21:30and I want to win it.
21:31And you stand like this, yeah.
21:32Hold for me.
21:34I'm looking at my finished design
21:35and Helen's finished design.
21:36They're both amazing.
21:37But I'm starting to feel a little bit like,
21:39maybe Wicked is the way forward.
21:42We only have five minutes left.
21:46Can you relax your arm a little bit?
21:48At this point, Jay's is amazing.
21:50I love it.
21:50So I know that Jay has it.
21:53And I'm out.
21:54It is me.
21:56I'm really proud that I stuck to my gut
21:57and can nobody tell me
21:59that this is not a dress made by me.
22:01Okay.
22:01Let's go.
22:02After you.
22:05Coming up on Project Runway All Stars.
22:07I really love this dress.
22:09It lacks drama.
22:10It just looks messy.
22:12It's a little bit of a train wreck.
22:13It just doesn't hit me as Wicked enough.
22:18The winner of Project Runway All Stars
22:20will be given the chance
22:21to create their own capsule collection with QVC

23:02Uh oh.
23:03Ooh.
23:05Oh no.
23:06Hello designers.
23:08Hi.
23:09This week we joined forces
23:11with the biggest musical on Broadway
23:13for a wicked challenge.
23:15You had two days to create couture inspired gowns
23:19based on either good or wicked.
23:21You faced off against another designer
23:23so a high score and a low score
23:25will be awarded to each pair.
23:30Let's say hello to our judges.
23:31First, one of the most iconic names
23:33in American fashion, Isaac Mizrahi.
23:35Hi kids.
23:39Georgina Chapman is sorry
23:40she can't be with us this week.
23:42But instead we are so honored
23:44to be joined by one of the most colorful figures
23:47in fashion.
23:48Please welcome the fabulous Betsy Johnson.
23:52Woo!
23:53Hi guys.
23:54Hi guys.
23:58Our next guest is one of the stars
23:59of television's biggest comedies.
24:02As the smart and sassy Alex Dunphy,
24:05she's won four Screen Actors Guild Awards
24:07with her fellow cast from Modern Family.
24:10Please welcome actress Ariel Winter.
24:12Woo!
24:13Woo!
24:14Hi.
24:16The winning gown will go on permanent display
24:19in the lobby of the Gershwin Theater
24:21to be seen by thousands of people every week.
24:24Have a great show.
24:33Welcome.
24:35All I keep thinking is Paris Fashion Week.
24:37It's like really high end,
24:38attention to detail, kind of edgy.
24:41And when I think if anyone would love ruffles,
24:43it would be Betsy Johnson.
24:44It looks so expensive.
24:46It's beautiful, Benjamin.
24:55I am ecstatic.
24:58As much as I was thinking I was gonna just come in second to Helen,
25:02now I'm feeling like actually maybe I do have a shot.
25:05Oh, it's so lovely.
25:06It's totally Benjamin Mack.
25:08I like my look, but all I can focus on is how short her dress feels.
25:23But I love it regardless, the handwork is there, the detail is there.
25:26The fashion gods will listen in.
25:27It just feels like me if I were to do couture.
25:31If I were to do couture.
25:33She looks amazing.
25:42She looks amazing.
25:43The dress has drama.
25:45Anything you could wish.
25:47Work it.
26:00Best girl.
26:01I just have this smile that I just can't keep off my face.
26:04I'm so proud of myself to see something that I felt like really could have been made in Paris.
26:09Wow.
26:13I'm really excited about this look.
26:24It is so me, but also so not me.
26:28I'm proud that I could have pushed myself out of my comfort zone and make this weird, spooky looking pretty dress.
26:43She just sparkles, and I think she looks amazing.
26:52She looks sexy and confident and like a starlet, and this is by far the gowniest gown I've ever made.
27:07I think my dress looks really great on the runway.
27:09I think it has a really great movement to it.
27:12It screams wicked.
27:14It is exactly how I envisioned it.
27:24Yeah, hit that pocket.
27:26I'm still nervous.
27:27I know that I'm not presenting a gown, but I'm presenting my interpretation of a gown, and I'm really proud of what I did.
27:34I say Tilda Swinton wearing this.
27:42She looks stunning.
27:44I'm just happy that I came at the right place because it looked like the dress was floating on the runway, and Fabio's work.
27:58It's definitely different from mine, so I have no idea what to expect.
28:02I love my piece.
28:12I think it's so strong.
28:14If I were a couturier designer and was asked to design a gown, this is how I would design a gown to go on the red carpet.
28:22For having started it only a few hours ago, I'm just happy that those sequins are blinking.
28:35It looks really pretty.
28:36It's not as bad as I thought it would be.
28:45As you know, each pair has a high score and a low score.
28:49If I call your name, please step forward.
28:52Michelle.
28:55Justin.
28:57Sam.
29:00Sonji.
29:02Benjamin.
29:04Dimitri.
29:06Congratulations, you guys.
29:09You're the winners of your fashion face-off.
29:13Sonji, Sam, and Dimitri.
29:17The three of you have the highest scores of the week.
29:19And that means one of you is the winner of this week's challenge.
29:23Chris, Fabio, and Helen, you have the lowest scores of the week.
29:28And one of you is going home.
29:31The rest of you guys are safe.
29:32Please make your way to the backstage lounge.
29:45Designers, one of you is about to have your design on display at the Gershwin Theater.
29:49And someone else will be eliminated tonight.
29:52Dmitri, let's hear from you first.
30:03Tell us about your theme and your gown.
30:05Well, my theme was Wicked and I found the stream and I took it apart piece by piece.
30:12I built the upper body and then I played with crystals and feathers.
30:16I love this dress.
30:18I think it's so pretty.
30:19One thing about it is that it lacks drama.
30:23I do love that you see so much of her skin.
30:26I wish you could see more of her skin.
30:28And I do wish that it was a little longer in the waist so it actually sat in the proper way.
30:34I agree with Isaac. It just doesn't hit me as Wicked enough, especially when it floats.
30:40I was trying to find the balance. I didn't want to go too theatrical and costume it.
30:45Well, to be honest, I think I'm going to disagree.
30:47I don't think that you need to show more skin with the dress and I think the dress is
30:52absolutely beautiful and I think you did a wonderful job.
30:55Can you turn around for me so I can see the back?
30:58See, the back looks more Wicked to me than the front.
31:01It's gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous. I loved it and really, really good job.
31:06Helen.
31:07Well, my theme was good. What I decided to do was use a more tailored silhouette
31:11and I decided to go with, of course, a softer palette because I was good.
31:15And this piece here is 10 yards of ruffled organza that I made.
31:20I personally liked it because I felt wherever I went, I would have a side table to put my drink on.
31:27I thought that was what was really fun about it.
31:29Could you rest your arm like that? You know what I mean? I thought that's got a function to
31:34something. Maybe it opens up and it's a drink cabinet.
31:37I don't love the ruffles. The ruffles kind of make it look like a duvet cover. It's not my favorite look.
31:44I think of all the dresses, I appreciate how much handwork you did on this and I really see it.
31:50You know what a good lesson to take away is maybe? Sometimes what you work the hardest on is the least
31:55good bit. Like just because you spent so many hours on those ruffles doesn't make them good.
32:00Thank you. Thanks so much. Hi, Sanji.
32:02So my theme was good and I went for a very silvery goldish dress that I placed an overskirt on top of.
32:10This dress is beautiful. I love the detail. It looks very powerful with the collar at the top
32:14and I don't even have much to say about it. It's just that beautiful.
32:17This is amazing this dress. Thank you. You know what I like so much is the treatment of the lace
32:22and the trim you match that with is fabulous and I love seeing that much of her leg and covering it
32:28at the same time. Can I see the back? Sure. Oh, that skirt is so beautiful. Great job. Thank you so
32:36much. Truly. Okay, Chris, you're up. So my theme was wicked and I didn't want to make something black.
32:43One of the things that I also thought made it look wicked is this fishbone detail that I put down
32:48the front and the sleeve. Tell me about the fishbone thing. Is that made of t-shirt fabric?
32:54It's made out of, well, actually I don't know what this fabric is. It's just the color was good and
32:58it's stretchy. To me it feels like one of those t-shirts that you see in like California. I mean,
33:03it does, but that's what I thought kind of like done this way tone on tone. It's not doing a thing for
33:08her body. Look at it. It's really not. Well, it's by this time of the day, it's shifted way over.
33:15It's wonderfully, wickedly wrong, but I come from the land of dancing costumes and tutus and
33:22I love the costumery about it. I'll be honest. I'm a little surprised because I thought that this
33:28would be your challenge. You're surprised. Sorry, I just didn't, I just didn't love it.
33:33Let's hear from you, Sam. I had wicked and I just wanted to make it really like sexy and strong,
33:37but it was like really boring. And that's what Xana said. So I started over and decided to
33:42feature the sequence more and I want to make it still sexy. And so when I changed the neckline,
33:47I added this sheer silk mesh to it. Well, I really love this dress. It looks really raw.
33:53I love that it is flowing and feminine, but still structured. I think you did a great job.
33:59Congratulations. Thank you. This dress is obviously a pretty dress. I mean, it works.
34:04I love the color of the dress. I love this idea of crow black, but I wish it had been longer in the
34:11back and slightly shorter in the front so that it actually forced movement as opposed to stopped
34:16movement. Right. It doesn't do wicked to me. It does beautiful and glamorous, but you got so into the
34:23front that you did forget about the back a little bit. I like how it looks in the back. I think it's
34:28simple and I love the sequence. I think it has a beautiful silhouette. It's just a beautiful dress.
34:34Thank you. Let's move on to Fabio. So my theme was good. I am not traditional. From my personal
34:42aesthetic, I like to play with male and female and this idea of gender roles and then present to you
34:47what I consider to be my interpretation of a gown. I like what you just said and I think that was a
34:51great statement, but it kind of looks like an apron to me. It has a very like kitchen vibe to me.
34:57Everybody else seemed to conform to the couture gown thing except you and I get that you didn't
35:02want to and then that's not your aesthetic to make a gown, but it does not give me couture. It gives me
35:07like the opposite of couture. It just looks messy. I love that you're going for something different.
35:14Unfortunately, this dress was not right for this challenge. Thank you guys. I appreciate all the
35:19comments. Designers, you've all given us a lot to think about, so we're going to deliberate and
35:24we'll call you back. Thank you.
35:33Hi.
35:35What did they say, Bob? They called it an apron. They said it didn't fit the challenge.
35:39Well, you might guess who loved mine. Betsy. Betsy.
35:42Betsy loved it. Betsy Johnson said that she could put a drink on my ruffled peninsula,
35:47whatever you want to call it. So I thought that that was a beautiful runway. Yes.
35:52Let's talk about the looks that we really liked. Dimitri. Honestly, his dress, I'm obsessed with it.
35:57It's elegant and beautiful and powerful. That's my type of dress. I would definitely wear that.
36:02It was quite elegant. Yes. Oh, definitely.
36:05His workmanship has been beautiful throughout the entire competition.
36:10Should we move on to Sanji? I really love this dress.
36:14She looked like she was a hero in like a fantasy action thing, and I loved that.
36:18The front of that dress was divine, and then the back of that dress was so beautiful.
36:22It looked like a full dress. You didn't see the cutaway. What a beautiful skirt.
36:29Let's talk about Sam. The blue-black of it is very chic. Yeah.
36:34I liked the fact that it was so raw. I just thought the dress was beautiful. I love the sequins. I love the
36:40colors, and I just thought it was a beautiful dress. Now, let's move on to the low scores. Let's start
36:50with Helen. It's an epic failure. Can you really critique such an epic failure? It's terrible.
36:55It does look like a duvet cover with some ruffled kiddie pillows that are being thrown on a bat.
37:00I would have liked that all ruffles are all placed. Yes.
37:04So let's move on to Chris. This was the week I was expecting to see him shine because it was this
37:13Broadway thing. It was this couture thing. This was sort of a mess. Not sort of a mess. This was a
37:18train wreck. It kind of looked like a Hot Topic t-shirt dress. Let's move on to Fabio. I just don't
37:29like it coming from him. The randomness of the weird asymmetry. Kind of schizophrenic. Isn't any strappy
37:37with very ladylike front. I didn't get the mix. If you're not going to conform to the challenge,
37:43then you have to face being in the bottom. So do we know who's going home? I think we do. Yes.
37:51Let's bring them back out.
37:52Designers, one of you is about to have your design on display at the Gershwin Theater.
38:00And someone else will be eliminated tonight.
38:09Designers, one of you is about to have your design on display at the Gershwin Theater.
38:15Dimitri, you're safe. Thank you for your work.
38:18Thank you. See you next week.
38:20Thank you guys. Nice meeting you.
38:26Sam and Sanji.
38:29One of you will have your gown displayed at Wicked on Broadway.
38:34And that designer is...
38:40Sanji!
38:43Good job. Congratulations.
38:45Thank you so much. I really appreciate it.
38:46Thank you. And Sam, great job.
38:49We'll see both of you again next week.
38:50You can leave the runway. Thank you.
38:52I won. Oh my God. I'm so excited.
38:55I consider myself way more of a ready-to-wear designer. And for me to kind of force myself
39:00to get out of my comfort zone to create something like this means the world to me.
39:04Sanji won.
39:06Sanji won.
39:07Nice job.
39:12Do you know anything that feels like a tour?
39:17One of you had a low score, but is safe.
39:20And that designer is...
39:22Fabio.
39:23Oh my God. Thank you so much.
39:25Thank you so much.
39:26Thank you, darling. You can leave the runway.
39:26So much. Thank you. Good luck, guys.
39:28Chris and Helen, tonight one of you will be in and one of you will be out.
39:40Chris, we have great respect for your work and we really thought this was your challenge to win,
39:46but this gown just missed the mark for us. And there were so many elements that just didn't mesh.
39:54Helen, we could see what you were trying to accomplish, but we had serious problems with your
40:00execution. Your dress was beautiful from some angles, but all wrong from so many others.
40:09Chris, Helen, you're both talented designers, but only one of you can stay.
40:13The eliminated designer tonight is...
40:26Chris.
40:29Helen, you're still in the competition. Thank you.
40:32You can lead the runway.
40:39Chris, thank you very much for joining us. You're a fabulous designer.
40:43But now, you know, good.
40:45Thank you. Thanks.
40:47Bye.
40:49Sometimes you end up making decisions you wouldn't have normally because of the time pressure and the
40:55situation. Does that happen in real life? Not always.
41:06Betsy Johnson loved my dress and I kind of expected all of them to like it more.
41:11I don't know. I guess I'm just completely caught off guard by the whole thing.
41:21Next on Project Runway All-Stars.
41:29Hello.
41:30Hi.
41:30Oh my God, it's Nina.
41:32You know who doesn't love Nina? People who suck.
41:35Your challenge is to create a party dress that must include your own journey of love.
41:42Oh.
41:43I didn't think I was capable of love.
41:45Sorry, I don't want to get emotional.
41:47You okay, Gunna?
41:48Yeah.
41:49There is something tragically romantic about this dress. It is sad.
41:54Sorry, you feel that way.
41:55You don't get to show a fashion audience your story. The best dress always wins.
42:00No.
42:12No.
42:14You
