00:00We already have Tropical Storm Aaron, and this is set to become our first hurricane and first major hurricane of the Atlantic hurricane season.
00:08So we're looking at satellite right now. You see the southeastern U.S., but we're heading all the way over to not far off the coast of Africa.
00:15That's where Tropical Storm Aaron is right now. But where does Aaron go?
00:20Well, take a look at our eye path. We'll break it down because this stretches a week from today.
00:25So by the time we get to Wednesday afternoon, we get to hurricane status.
00:30By the time we get to Saturday afternoon, we get to major hurricane status. That's a category three.
00:35The eye path stops, though, next Monday afternoon with Aaron at a category two. Why is that?
00:40Well, it's because things become a little bit more uncertain after that as far as Aaron's path.
00:45I mean, we are talking about more than a week from today.
00:48So you have to check back as we get a little bit closer, solidify those forecast details because it's kind of a fork in the road.
00:53There's a lot of different factors that will determine if Aaron moves to the east or if Aaron moves farther to the west.
00:58We'll talk more about those factors coming up in about 10 minutes or so, but let's talk about the impacts.
01:03Because here they are starting as early as Friday.
01:05We see rip currents, rough seas.
01:08Those are more indirect impacts, but things you need to keep in mind nonetheless into places like Puerto Rico, Cuba, the Bahamas, even the east coast of Florida.
01:15So especially with this being vacation season, trying to get in that last vacation before kids head back to school, you want to make sure if you're heading to any of these areas, beaches you're unfamiliar with, you know what's going on.
01:26You know any kind of alerts that have been issued.
01:28As we head into next week, a couple different things we're keeping an eye on.
01:31So where will Aaron be?
01:33Off the southeast coast of the U.S.
01:35It's just a matter of does Aaron move to the east or move to the west and end up landfalling in the U.S.
01:40We will have those indirect impacts.
01:42The rough surf, the rip currents across the entire east coast.
01:45Now as far as where Aaron would go if it moves further to the west, these are the areas to watch from North Carolina all the way up to eastern New England.
01:53So especially if you're in any of these areas, check back with us often, the AccuWeather Network, AccuWeather.com, all of our social media.
02:01Great ways to stay up to date on the latest forecast information so that you know if you need to be preparing for a landfalling hurricane,
02:07which really at this point in the year, if you live in any of these areas, you should be making those preparations now, your emergency kit, things like that.
