00:00Obviously, for me personally, I was in the military for six years.
00:02I don't see any negative with bringing back the National Service.
00:06I think it's a great idea.
00:07Firstly, just because there's a massive misconception with the Army.
00:11You know, the Army isn't...
00:12National Service doesn't mean we're going to take our kids,
00:14send them away to war, and they're going to shoot guns and be shot at,
00:16and maybe die.
00:18That's not the case at all.
00:19The Army teaches you so many things, you know.
00:21You could be a driver, a chef, funny enough.
00:23I was an aeronautical engineer on helicopters.
00:26You know, I can't even spell the word aeronautical.
00:28So it's a trade I get for my life forever,
00:30and I think what we have today, especially in London,
00:33is such young teenagers getting into crime
00:35because they feel like they have no purpose,
00:36and the military can give them that purpose.
00:38And on the wider aspects of things,
00:40National Service can be so much broader.
00:42It doesn't mean just going to the military.
00:43It could be community service,
00:45because what you're doing is installing discipline into these young kids,
00:49and they can take that on for their life forever.
00:51So I just think it's a great idea
00:52and don't really see any negative towards it.
00:54Because, again, when I was in the military,
00:56the main thing I realised was that people were lost
00:58or they had no-one else outside the military.
01:01You know, the military then became their family.
01:02And I can promise you, if these kids go to the military
01:04and just spend a year there and they learn how to make their bed,
01:08firstly, they're going to be better off as adults,
01:10young adults, when they're coming out.
01:11But secondly, I can promise you,
01:12probably 50% to 60% of them will want to stay on in the military
01:16and learn more, because you can get multiple trades,
01:18you can travel the world, you know,
01:20so I just don't see what's wrong with it, to be honest.
01:22No.
