03:44Welcome to Beyond the Tape. I'm your host Mark Wassand.
03:59Welcome to our viewers across Trinidad and Tobago.
04:02Our international viewers and of course our brothers and sisters in the Isle of Grenada.
04:08Well, it was a long weekend of course and it's now back to a normal work week.
04:12And certainly a number of incidents happened over the long weekend.
04:18The passing of two women in unfortunate circumstances.
04:24We had Tara Luchansing and Marjorie all losing their lives in different circumstances.
04:30One by drowning and the other in a car accident.
04:32And you know it was really sad that you know Tara Luchansing was at the Matura River with her family.
04:38And you know in that in that instant of course with her grandchild five years of age.
04:45And it seemed that there was some, she got into some difficulty.
04:49But she managed to throw that child onto the embankment.
04:53And of course we know what happened.
04:55She was unable to be located by family members despite searches conducted.
05:01And on Saturday, Coast Guard officers was able to recover her body in the ocean.
05:11Not too far away from when she had gone missing.
05:13And then of course we also had the unfortunate accident in which Marjorie all lost her life in Tobago.
05:21After the vehicle that she was with her husband plunged about 30 feet over an embankment into near a river.
05:31Of course there was an attempt to revive her.
05:35But they were unsuccessful and she was taken to the Scarborough Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
05:40So Sydney.
05:41And then we also had that unfortunate incident at a bar in Penile that resulted in the death of one man.
05:48And injuries to at least two others.
05:51And joining us today after a long weekend is none other than Captain Valance Rambarat from the Hunter's Search and Rescue Team.
05:58Sydney a very busy weekend sir.
06:00Yeah it was a very busy weekend for Hunter's Search and Rescue Team Mark.
06:05Not only a week but a pleasant good evening to our viewers on Beyond the Tape and TV6.
06:14Mark, it was really three women if you're checking it over probably a seven day period.
06:21Yes.
06:22And when we left Beyond the Tape on Monday we got a distress call and we had to respond to Kalissa Dankler who unfortunately careened off the bridge and TV6.
06:36And you know her car entered the river.
06:40We were there.
06:41By the time we got there however we just wanted to say you know we have a lot of heroes around and you know the residents responded and I wanted to share a bit of advice this evening with respect to this type of incident.
06:59Now we would now be familiar with differential pressure following the pariah divers incident.
07:07And whilst the car is filling with water right there is differential pressure.
07:13The pressure inside the vehicle is different to the pressure outside.
07:17So what is recommended is that if you attempt to try to break the glass at that point in time water will point swiftly into the vehicle and drown the person.
07:29So what you have to try to do is allow for the water to normalize inside and outside and then try to make a rescue attempt.
07:39But kudos to the residents there who tried valiantly to rescue Kalissa.
07:48Unfortunately it did not happen and you know I want to extend condolences to her family.
07:56But I note the program on Tuesday where you went into the you know the whole thing about safety on our roadways.
08:05It's a narrow bridge. Mark I utilize that bridge to get to that road to get to Separi.
08:11It's a shortcut from DB into Separi avoiding you know a traffic area.
08:19And so lots of motorists use it. I saw some remedial measures being put in place and that's good.
08:27But we have to do that with all our bridges that are still single lane.
08:31Yeah and I know the area well I mean passing there quite frequently over a period of time living in South Trinidad.
08:37And obviously as you see that bridge has been like that for quite a while.
08:43And where two cars can barely pass.
08:45And this is not the only area across Trinidad and Tobago where there's a heavy traffic.
08:50Because of course that road leads back out onto the highway.
08:54And you can go all the way up north from that roadway that connects there.
09:01When you want to take a shortcut and avoid traffic in the Penile, sorry the DB area.
09:06You kind of go around and you get into lower DB and then into Penile.
09:10And additionally our members who were there they indicated that the railing was unstable.
09:18And they prevented another unfortunate incident that night.
09:23Because persons who stopped to look on they were actually pressing on the railing.
09:28And the police and our members had to get everybody away from the railing.
09:32Because I'm not sure if it became unstable due to the accident.
09:36And then we continued our search for Theodore B's gunpath.
09:43Yes I remember that's your friend missing from Ottawa.
09:46My good friend from Ottawa.
09:47His vehicle is still missing yes?
09:49Both him and his vehicle is still missing.
09:51And we were in the field Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and part of Friday.
09:59And we continued to conduct searches for him.
10:02It's a vast area that's southeast part of Trinidad and Tobago.
10:06The area of focus is between Miero and Rio Claro, 14 miles.
10:13Lots of terrain to cover. Lots of agricultural roads.
10:17And you know it's really tough work.
10:22But we committed to you know continue to look for him.
10:25And then we went on to. So we were searching Mark.
10:30Yep.
10:31Friday the holiday.
10:33We were searching for bees in the Rio Claro district.
10:37When we got this distress call from Matura.
10:40That her grandmother.
10:43The first information we got was that both the grandmother and the grandchild were not to be found.
10:50However when we got there we were greeted with the great news that the child I saw her there.
10:57That she was found.
10:59I just want to say we left there at 3.16 a.m. in the morning.
11:05Tons of bamboo.
11:06Truckloads of bamboo to be removed from the river.
11:09Wow.
11:10Tons of bamboo members in the water.
11:12Trying to get the bamboo out of the water.
11:14So we knew you know where he is right now.
11:17Underneath that's 15 feet.
11:20He's holding on to the bamboo.
11:22Okay.
11:23He could swim.
11:24This is Ram Charita.
11:25We have a few members who really got in the water.
11:28And what they were doing is just pushing the bamboo downstream to try to get rid of the hundreds of bamboo that were piled up in that river.
11:37What you all suspected happened?
11:38Was it that the river?
11:39Yeah.
11:40Tide came in and...
11:41No I think this part of the river don't have much of a tidal effect.
11:44Right.
11:45But rain probably fell elsewhere and there was a rise in the water level.
11:49But much more than that.
11:51And I want to make this point quickly Mark.
11:54Yeah.
11:55In clear rivers the river bed doesn't change in torrential showers.
11:59This is a gravel river bed.
12:02And because it's gravel depending on the intensity of the flow of the water and the volume of the water coming.
12:09The river bed tends to change because it is gravel.
12:13And sometimes you're walking in eight inches of water and then suddenly you meet a drop off.
12:20Right.
12:21We call it a drop off.
12:22And you plunge into the pool and you cannot find your feet.
12:26And this is what happened with Tara Luchan Singh.
12:29Now this bamboo on the left if the producer could hold it right there.
12:33Go back to the left in that video.
12:36Right there where the extreme left.
12:39That's right.
12:40Next slide.
12:41Mark that is where she was able.
12:45Not on the river bunker.
12:46Right.
12:47But you see that dark colored bamboo there.
12:49Yes.
12:50That is where she was able to get her granddaughter.
12:54So the guys, the relatives had to walk right around and come on the embankment and fetch her from on top those two bamboo in the water right there.
13:03Right.
13:04Right.
13:05And we have to say that Tara died a hero because she saved her grandchild in life.
13:10Yes.
13:11A very selfless act.
13:12And you know, if a human being had tried to cling on to those two bamboos, it would not have assisted them.
13:18But because the daughter is six years old, she's likely to be able to hold on to the bamboo until help came.
13:24Now, right there, producer hold it, just to the middle of the basin there, that entire thing was covered with bamboo.
13:36We got rid of the bamboo.
13:38And just behind that is where her body was located.
13:41So it didn't travel far, probably another 10 to 15 feet.
13:45Okay.
13:46But because, you know, you're unable to swim and suddenly you feel that plunge down into this deep water, you lose your footing, she did well to put that child on that bamboo.
13:59And then, of course, sacrifice her life in all of this to save her grandchild.
14:05Unfortunately, she did not make it.
14:07Yeah.
14:08And we want to extend the condolences to this very popular family from the Rio Claro District, originally from the Rio Claro District.
14:17And, you know, that was a day that, you know, we wouldn't forget at all, at all, at all.
14:25And, you know, the fire services.
14:26And, Mark, because of the depth of the water, having cleared the bamboo, it was just left for the Coast Guard to come in and get the bamboo.
14:35Because the depth of the water was close to about 15 feet.
14:39Right.
14:40In the middle where the body was from.
14:42All right.
14:43As you said, we want to express our deepest sympathies to the family of Ms. Lochan Singh.
14:50And we really want to say that she really saved her granddaughter.
14:57And, you know, it's a selfless act, sacrificing her life to ensure that her granddaughter lived.
15:04Yeah.
15:05And, you know, I'm sure the family is at least grateful for that.
15:08I was relieved when we got there.
15:10Yeah.
15:11And we literally flew there because we had, because our child is involved.
15:16We try to, you know, get there as quickly as possible.
15:18I was relieved when we got there and we were told that, listen, this is the girl, she's safe.
15:23Yeah.
15:24All right.
15:25I know we have to quickly move on to two persons you wanted to speak with in terms of the DNA testing confirmation.
15:30Right.
15:31Mark, you know, the business of bringing closure is an important thing to families whose loved ones go missing.
15:38And from time to time, bodies are found that you cannot immediately identify the bodies.
15:43And so we had Kian watch back in, back in August of 2024.
15:49We were, we had conducted some searches for his body.
15:52He was missing in the, from the Penile District.
15:56And, um, on the 22nd of August, a body was found in the Gasparro District.
16:03And, um, you know, there are bits, it's a burnt body.
16:08Right.
16:09So we were able to see parts of coveralls and the coverall on the body.
16:13We brought a stop to that search.
16:16Um, we believe it was Kian.
16:18And this week it was confirmed that by DNA testing, that it was indeed Kian watch.
16:24Right.
16:25And then we had, um, Jeremy David.
16:28Remember that burnt body that was found in 1820 on the 3rd of June, Princess Town?
16:34Well, that, uh, and I, I remember seeing on the program, the mother seemed to be convinced
16:39that it was her son and we had stopped the search for him.
16:43Well, it was confirmed that that body was that of Jeremy, Jerome, David.
16:48Again, condolences to both families.
16:51And, um, you know, this whole thing about achieving closure is a very, very important thing.
16:58Yep.
16:59All right.
17:00So, obviously, you know, over the last couple of weeks, we have been speaking about that
17:05penal area, uh, involvement of, of more shootings, uh, springing up in that area.
17:11And, uh, yesterday evening, rather, around two o'clock, uh, a man only identified as sucky,
17:17was shot and killed outside a bar in Lachos Road.
17:22Another man was also severely injured.
17:24Uh, police later arrived on the scene.
17:26There's no motive yet.
17:28Uh, but certainly there is cause for concern because in that penal area, there seems to
17:34be something happening that I think police need to pay closer attention to.
17:40A number of persons have been shot and killed, shot and wounded.
17:45Uh, and I'm knowing penal, penal was never an area like this.
17:49Yeah.
17:50And it has exploded over the last two years, I would say.
17:52Well, yeah, this is Lachos Road.
17:55Um, Mark is the home of America Harry.
17:57Right.
17:58And so we're very familiar with it and you're quite correct.
18:02Uh, because recently a gentleman was murdered on the street right there in, um, Lachos Road.
18:08Right.
18:09And from what we gathered, you know, the, the, the, the, the, the police has to step up its presence there and do some, um, work in that area.
18:18Because Lachos Road is becoming popular for criminal activity.
18:23It's unfortunate that the gentleman lost his life.
18:26And, um, but work has to be done in that area.
18:29Our information is that there, there are gangs operating in the Sun Rees Road area, just above the hill in the market area and Lachos Road.
18:40So there, our information is that there's gang activity taking place in that area.
18:46Wow.
18:47All right.
18:48And, uh, as we approached the long weekend, we also spoke about safety on the roadways.
18:53And, of course, there was, uh, road traffic accidents, uh, accident rather, this one in particular, uh, involving some pedestrians.
19:02Let's just take a quick look at it.
19:05Wow.
19:06So this was, I believe, on Thursday evening, this car lost control.
19:17Wow.
19:18Now, from, from the reports, uh, that were later published on the newspaper, that person was allegedly involved in a, an earlier accident and a hit and run.
19:27And in so doing, fleeing, that earlier accident struck both pedestrians who were walking along that pavement.
19:38And it was just ironic that I, I captured some of this video here.
19:44I actually was just going to the subway, well, near the subway area.
19:48And it could have been anybody, could even have been me.
19:51I'm just saying people are walking gingerly along the pavement, minding their own business.
19:56This man dodges some vehicles because he's trying to get away from the, the first accident.
20:03And in so doing, loses control and hits two pedestrians on the, uh, on that, that pavement.
20:09That's madness on our roadways, Mark.
20:12Yeah.
20:13And I'm looking at the woman there and wondering how it is she was able to sit up after that.
20:18Yes, I saw that.
20:19Because she went airborne for a while, she would have landed harder.
20:23Apart from the impact with the vehicle, she would have landed really hard on the asphalt.
20:29And that guy who's sitting there, he may be wondering, boy, what is this?
20:34What did, what happened?
20:35How did I escape this?
20:37Yeah.
20:38But, um, this cannot be tolerated on our roadways, Mark.
20:42Certainly not.
20:43Well, they did, they did apprehend the driver in question there, um, as you would have seen the police.
20:50Well, quickly on this scene, I have to, I have to say, I, I caught the aftermath of, of her sitting on the ground and so on from a distance.
20:57I did not know, uh, until like a couple, within the hours or after two, that, that this man had virtually ploughed into, to these pedestrians on the, um, the pavement.
21:08So Sidney has a lot of questions to answer, uh, first from the previous accident and now this, where things even got even worse fleeing from an accident previously.
21:18And, and then you are, you have this incident, but I'm happy he was apprehended and, um, I hope the Lord takes its course.
21:27Indeed.
21:28All right.
21:29So let's quickly look at the state of emergency update, day 18.
21:34Number of operations, 1,352.
21:39Priority offenders targeted, 625.
21:42Serges conducted, 8,540.

22:22Dangerous drugs seized, 69,901.34 grams of marijuana and 233.11 grams of cocaine.

25:33Welcome back to Be On The Tape.
25:45I'm your host, Mark Bassan, joined today by Captain Valence Rambarat of the Hunter, Search and Rescue Team.
25:50And I do believe you're going to bring us up to speed for the month ending July in terms of missing persons.
25:55Yes, I just want to do a recap of July.
25:59For the month of July, we received 38 reports of missing persons.
26:04And thus far, we have 14 persons remain unaccounted for.
26:09We still have Christina Cato.
26:11She has not been located.
26:14She belongs to one of the children's homes.
26:18And she was last seen in the Kanupia area.
26:21And we're asking her to please return to where she belongs.
26:27We know her well.
26:28This is not her first time.
26:30We know her since 14 years old.
26:32And she has been a repeated offender.
26:35Christina, we need you to, you know, go there and do your schoolwork and continue to get assistance for whatsoever.
26:45You know, interventions are needed.
26:47So, and then, Nicola Street is still outstanding.
26:52Mark, we do not believe harm has come to him.
26:56We just have to continue to work with the family to ensure, you know, that he is safely located.
27:03He is from the Morva District.
27:06And similarly with Gaspar William Hendry, he is missing and cannot be accounted for up to 30.
27:16So, we're asking persons from the Arima District, if you have information on Gaspar William Hendry, to please call 799-1453.
27:25We need to find him.
27:27We need to find him and his relatives are worried.
27:31Isaiah Regis continues to be missing.
27:36Again, again, he was, he went missing from a home in Itunapuna District.
27:43And we dealt with him previously earlier this year.
27:47He has some issues as a young man.
27:50And we want to implore Isaiah to please return to your home so that, you know, any interventions in your life could continue and make you a happier and a more, you know, productive person.
28:05As, you know, we prefer you in there than outside.
28:10And then Mahindra Daniel continues to be missing.
28:14His mother is, his mother is very concerned about him.
28:21And Mahindra Daniel, we dealt with him previously.
28:25He's a repeat offender.
28:27And we're asking Mahindra to please return home.
28:33Now, if persons who are viewing have information on these persons, please call 7999-1453 or the nearest police station.

28:47She was last seen in the Moruga District.
28:50She is still unaccounted for.
28:53And we're asking persons, yes, to please contact the nearest police station if you see Dillian Nutt.
29:03Too many young people are out there and they need, you know, the guidance and protection of adults.
29:10Yes, this is Mahindra up here.
29:12And we still haven't been able to locate Mahindra.
29:16Mark Rishma Puran.
29:20Age 44 from the Endeavor District.
29:23She has been missing for, I believe, 22 days now.
29:27And on Friday, up to Friday, we were conducting a search for her in the Endeavor District.
29:36Up to today, I spoke to her relatives.
29:39And, you know, they are at wit's end to understand what has become of Rishma Puran.
29:45So, efforts in that area will continue.
29:48But members of the public, especially from the Endeavor District, if you have information, please contact the Shipwarnas Police Station or Hunter's Search and Rescue Team at 799-1453.
30:02We have a bit of an update with respect to Isaiah Luke.
30:08And that both him and his vehicle, they were missing since on the 14th of July.
30:15His vehicle was found in the Arruka District earlier this week.
30:20Right.
30:20And so, investigations are continuing.
30:23I'm in touch with both the police and his mother as the investigations proceed.
30:30All right.
30:30So, a bit of, you know, some bit of break in that case there.
30:34And then we have Lincoln Chars.
30:37We cannot locate Lincoln Chars.
30:39He's from the Morva District, suffers from dementia or slash Alzheimer's.
30:45And any information, you know, from residents of Morva, as well as, you know, most of the times, Mark, we better locate these persons on the streets of Port of Spain.
30:57So, if in the Port of Spain District and you know Lincoln Chars, please report it to the nearest police station or call us at 799-1453.
31:10Well, I already dealt with Beast, Beast, Beast remains missing.
31:14And the search for him is ongoing.
31:16Mark, the family is having a vigil in the Ottawa District this afternoon.
31:22It begins at, well, it started at 6 p.m.
31:25So, if they're a resident, some mayor, you could still head across the Coconut Grove in Ottawa Village.
31:33The Candlelight Village starts there and finishes at his home in Ottawa Village.
31:39And then we have Michael Dean, who, Emmanuel Robinson, sorry, and he's an 18-year-old from Sangre Grandi.
31:49And we quite, you know, we know we will find him.
31:54Our team up there in the Sangre Grandi area is working hard to try to get Emmanuel Robinson back home.
32:02And then we have Michael Nicholas Dean, and he remains outstanding from Upper Bound Road in St. James.
32:12And we're asking residents in the St. James area to please, if you have any information that could assist us with Michael Nicholas Dean,
32:22please call the St. James Police Station or contact us at 799-1453.
32:31And for August, Mark, we've had five reports so far of missing persons.
32:37Three persons remain outstanding.
32:40And then we have Carissia Bourne, and Carissia, I just want to tell you this, please return home, okay?
32:48We have information on exactly where you are.
32:51I passed it on to the police.
32:53So, I want you, if you're listening, to please return home,
32:56because we know you're in the Maplands area in the Lavantel District.
33:00So, please return home, and hopefully, if you don't, the police will be able to assist you in returning home.
33:09And then, Mark, you had the incident yesterday where both Samuel Montano and Zahid and Mohammed,
33:17they were reported missing, and there was a further development where the, you know,
33:23the, the, they were stabbed, there, they were gunshot, um, I shouldn't say that.
33:30There were shells recovered in their bedroom.
33:32Yeah, there was blood.
33:33There was blood.
33:33It's, uh, it's a, where was it?
33:36Sunset Cove.
33:37Sunset Cove.
33:38In Laramene, yes.
33:39Yeah, just on near the sea.
33:40The express would have visited the, uh, area earlier today.
33:44Yeah.
33:44And this would have been the video from the team down in South.
33:49And what was reported was that there was a blood trail from the bedroom.
33:52Yes.
33:53Along that area that has been shown, and it went straight to the beach front.
33:59To the beach front.
34:00Yes.
34:01And, uh, there was actually drag marks on the beach, on the beach, on the shoreline,
34:07indicating that the body was...
34:08So, things are better, uh, blood there on the concrete, and inside on the boards there.
34:13Yeah.
34:13So, you're, you're, you're, you're right that, uh...
34:15So, I think most likely, uh, one could come, we could safely say that we're dealing with two homicides,
34:20here, and, um, the fact that it was...
34:23taken to the beach, one could probably assume that they, they were, their bodies or themselves alive or removed by boat.
34:33Yeah.
34:34And, therefore, it makes searching difficult, extremely difficult.
34:39So, I know the Coast Guard, they were there, and they show, they did search these shallow areas.
34:45But, um, um, at this point in time, we have to hope and pray, you know, on that.
34:50And, we want to alert the fisherfolk in the San Fernando area, as well as the Otahiti area.
34:58To please be on the alert, because you may, you may be able to spot something in the water, and please report it to the police, so that you could, at least, you know,
35:08know what happened to both, um, Mahler and Zahida.
35:12Yeah.
35:13Yeah.
35:14Certainly.
35:15Alright, so remember, if you have any information about any of these persons that was just shown on television that are missing, please contact the Hunter's Search
35:23and Rescue Team at 799-1453, or the nearest police station, dial 999 or 800-TIPS.

38:42welcome back to be on the tape i'm your host mark wasan joined today by captain valence ramber out
39:04of the hunters search and rescue team and yes it's another segment voice of the people this time we
39:11went to should go on us to hear what they had to say about a number of crime related issues let's take a look
39:16let's come see
39:21tayhaba
39:26m
39:41state of emergency do you feel safer to a certain point yeah why would you say that
39:52well certain things will happen but not as fast as people want it to happen right everything
40:02takes time have you seen a reduction in crime during the state of emergency i will come out
40:09later but yes you think it's time for a curfew in the state of emergency or no well no that will affect
40:19business to be honest so therefore i feel it's just the government had to do what they do it
40:29move fast that's all i have to say right what is your opinion on the stand your ground legislation
40:40oh we have views i can tell you no comment sure huh yeah no comment on that would you support
40:50no bill for somebody with an illegal firearm for 108 days yes why why it will be effective
41:04due to the um well the time
41:12have you ever been a victim of a scam no um and what what advice you have for people that fall victims
41:18to be of a scam well be vigilant be away watch around when you're going in your cars look
41:31look on the other side always look be our way yes that's bottom line
41:37voice of the people captain and uh i could tell you that the people in us should go and that's a
41:48little bit shy you know you know it it took a lot we spent about two hours a little more than that day
41:54and a lot of people who were rather shy camera shy and they don't want to speak but i i think the issue of
42:01crime you know is is still a prominent one yes you know even though they don't want to speak about it i
42:08i know they have their views on it and it's a pity that they don't want to express it but you know to
42:14each his own but the gentleman spoke about his support for the soe and and he says you know he believes
42:22that that that it is effective and i share that view and um i think um you know that um just he said
42:32that they should work faster but i think you know that um while working faster they have to continue to
42:38work smartly yes use intelligence driven um methods the technology and gain the interest gain the trust of
42:49the public and things will happen things will happen and he did you spoke to him he didn't want to
42:56comment and he's standing ground policy mark mark i have been missing those consultations um i have
43:03an interest in it because um i i belong to the hunting fraternity and there are hunters who are you
43:10know need their shotguns for hunting it's a sport and i do have an interest in it but i have not been
43:16able to be accurate with what taking place with the consultations but he he said no comment on that
43:23and then you did ask him about scams and you know um he talked about safety measures on the streets but
43:32you know i think you did an excellent article having read about um certain things and you know people have
43:39to be aware of scams scams you know they come into the public domain easily um they dangle carrots in front
43:47of you and you know members of the public easily snap at these uh these these investments which offer high
43:56rates of return and sometimes you know people forget the clickways you and they forget this and that and you
44:04you know and and and and these camps continue to thrive and there are various versions of it and
44:11um and so you know i think scamming is a big big thing in trinidad together with con men right
44:18there are people who just out there conning people of their money yeah certainly and uh it's a serious
44:24thing that uh we've had officers from first cordia on several occasions uh last friday inspector francis
44:30uh warning people about online investments online scams and then you have persons that are texting
44:37persons under the pretext of a bank or banks telling me to click on a link and we want to warn you all
44:44please do not do so if you're uncertain call your bank if your bank says we never sent you a uh email or
44:52or or a link to click on do not click on it because once you do that they get directly into your account
45:00and funds are withdrawn and i think the ttps did a good job at making sure that the public became aware
45:07of this scam but there there there there there are multitude of um scams out there and it's just for
45:14you all to be careful guard your little money properly and don't um you know fall prey to these
45:21scammers right guard your money guard your money yeah yes certainly okay we're going to take a short

47:20that is outrageous
47:21and he's also supposed to break a weapon
47:24welcome back to be on the tape i'm your host mark busan joined today by captain valence rambert of the hunter's search and rescue team
47:40and we were talking about road safety and we have a couple of videos to show you of course
47:44over the last couple of days that unfortunate incident involving 78 year old marjorie harry or
47:52who died on saturday morning this is in tobago the vehicle plunge i told you about 30 feet
47:59into the nearby river there and of course uh she and her husband was taken out of that vehicle
48:08and of course the passers by passers by sorry they tried to render uh cpr to the elderly lady
48:19um they were unsuccessful apparently in doing so she was taken to the scarborough hospital
48:25where she was later pronounced dead well kudos to the gentleman for and then cpr there to miss
48:32oh uh mark the the old family into be with a very large family is a very popular family in tobago
48:41and on behalf of hunter's search and rescue team and beyond the tip i know we extend our condolences
48:47to them but here it is another incident with um you know a vehicle carrying off the road and ending up in
48:56in this case a river again and we've had we've seen we've been seeing a series of this these types
49:02of um incidents lately deepest sympathies to the or family on the passing of the 78 year old marjorie harry
49:11or and then we also had uh another incident in along the maracas road uh yesterday morning around 9 40
49:21a flatbed truck with several bricks on it overturning the driver of course uh being assisted out of that
49:30vehicle and mind you this caused traffic gridlock both directions for several hours people coming in
49:40trying to get to barracas and leaving of course because you know it's one road very narrow road
49:45where there are persons are lying on the roadway injured yeah after the accident so it seemed that
49:50there was more than one person in that truck and you're seeing here um you know several vehicles this
49:57is the truck here being uh wrecked and taken to the police station and of course it really caused the
50:05inconvenience and we have to always warn persons who are traversing that particular road up to maracas
50:11there's some there's some steep turns and you have to be mindful of other drivers as well yeah and the
50:18load on the flatbed truck would would would cause a forward increased forward motion so drivers have to be
50:26careful of that so you know you have to apply your brakes you have to drive slowly and um uh but
50:34social media and especially tick tock went alive when that happened because persons members of the
50:39public who were heading to maracas they expressed their displeasure had been stuck in this traffic for
50:46very long time you know i can't quite understand people will leave their home at
50:5112 1 to sit in traffic to go to maracas be for two and three hours yes to get there and then spend two
50:59hours and then drive back right yeah i i just don't do that that's just me i i don't i i can't sit i
51:05probably go early in the morning but not not three in the afternoon everybody's deciding to go at the same
51:10time at the same time yeah but we know the traffic situation heading to maracas especially on a holiday
51:16yeah it's even worse and also we had a accident at the maloney lights on the highway um also i think
51:25over the weekend here uh vehicles involved you know and uh some damage was done you could see somebody
51:33lying on the the the the divider there two vehicles involved somebody lying there in the divided here the
51:41culvert area they're injured yeah of course um it looks early morning so it could have been either
51:47saturday morning or sunday morning as the case may be but again we want to urge all the drivers you know
51:53you have to be mindful of others um on the roadways you have to drive for yourself and for others as well
52:00and i'm seeing new roadways wet there so you know you have to be extremely careful during rainfall or just
52:06after the rainfall because you know this um that could contribute to to motor vehicle accidents but
52:13again you're seeing persons lying on the side of the road injured as a result of an accident so mark um
52:21was the solution today the solution may be that highway patrol has to probably you know
52:27do a lot more patrolling on our highways and byways that's one and then we have to continue to reinforce
52:36good driving habits on programs like these and continue to you know try and enlighten the public
52:44in terms of you know how to keep themselves safe while driving yeah i know sergeant batson just recently
52:50spoke um to the media and you're saying that and presently we have uh i think it's 63 fatalities for
52:57the year and um it's not close to what it was last year which was 68 it's a seven percent decrease
53:04and of course he says it takes one weekend for that to all just go out through the window all the
53:10efforts that's why he's saying that you know you everybody has to be observant and you would read
53:14speed speed stop speeding you know take your time observe the speed limits they had
53:20number of persons got uh speeding tickets in the south area over this long weekend and others who
53:26were driving under the influence and so on and we know of one person who got brutalized i want to tell
53:32you the story he he went to racing on on without calling names he went to racing on friday santa rosa
53:39he's from south and and and his family reported him missing so immediately we posted the poster on friday
53:47evening he was hospitalized and he was sitting in the in the san fernando police station right
53:53unfortunately he didn't contact his family but we the police did call once they saw the poster so you
54:00know um be careful on the roadways with respect to alcohol yes consumption now this video uh involves it
54:09was uh on social media a couple days ago last week an alleged chopping incident in the dinsley tacaregua area
54:21so you're seeing a somebody leaving the maxi taxi there walking onto the roadway has to be bareback and then
54:29he struck several times by a man in red several times
54:40so certainly he came out of a maxi taxi yeah he confronted this person who struck him several times
54:50and um it seemed to be a chopping incident we understand and he was the person went on the
54:58merry way after i don't know if there was a uh altercation prior to that yeah because this seemed
55:03to be an ambush attacker yeah because well he came out to confront the individual who saw him and then of
55:09course the individual perhaps i know he was coming for him yeah and in so doing he would have obviously you
55:16know did what he do he did and there was just some news i wanted to share with you all of course
55:23uh that came from the ministry of national security a media release homeland security from uh the
55:30honorable minister roger alexander about an hour ago where the counter trafficking unit in an operation called
55:37operation triple knock uh with the help of the united nations high commissioner for refugees
55:44united they went to two locations in the marabella and kanupia area uh triple r spa that was fronting
55:52trafficking young venezuelan women there they there are also images here where they rounded up seven
56:00women in the kanupia area ages 19 to 25 and six women in the marabella spa location between the ages of 18 to 25
56:09including including including a 13 year old girl who they believe is a victim of trafficking and mind
56:17you uh two male suspects and a female suspect was also held there's photos of them as well with their
56:24backs and police leading them away so sydney this issue of human trafficking is a serious one and it
56:30continues to raise ugly head by people using these fronts of bars and restaurants and and spas to exploit
56:39these young women yeah yeah it's exploitation that's its worst um excellent work by the police service
56:46mark kanupia has been you know a red flagging for us because we know of some of the activities and
56:54quite a few um venezuelans they they have they went missing from that kanupia area so immediately you
57:02you spoke about it and you know i was able to to link it because we know of what's been going on in
57:11kanupia yeah it was because of a 20-year-old venezuelan bill who was able to escape from them
57:17in may of this year and over that period of time should have provided information to assist the police
57:24and of course the unhcr who would have relayed that information onto the authorities so we really want to
57:30say uh really good work by the counter trafficking units as you continue to press uh these people
57:36who are involved in human trafficking all right captain we really want to thank you for taking
