All schools in Tobago on the advice of the Tobago Emergency Management Agency (TEMA) were dismissed early on Tuesday, due to the adverse weather alert and the anticipated weather conditions.
Emergency response teams were activated across Tobago, assisting in clearing roadways. More in this Elizabeth Williams report.
00:00Students sitting in the CAPE MOB examinations were allowed to continue writing their exams as scheduled.
00:08However, the TTNLA exams were postponed and will be rescheduled to a date to be announced.
00:15TV6 News spoke with Tobago Emergency Management Agency TEMA Director Alan Stewart.
00:21The schools were impacted in the sense that the buses taking school children to Speyside and Roxborough were inhibited, so they had to abort these missions.
00:37However, the response was very, very good, and we continue to see the response be effective.
00:45It is now in effect where we have cleared these roadways, and we continue to treat with these reports as they come in.
00:53Mr Stewart said a number of reports were received, and emergency response teams from the Division of Infrastructure, TNTech, Fire Service, TEMA, CERT, and Police were on the ground clearing roadways.
01:06Most of which was located in the east, the problematic ones, such as the blockage of the roadway, with two tall trees in different villages, in the Richmond area and also Bell Garden.
01:23Some of the key incidents reported include fallen trees obstructing roadways in Mason Hall, Glenmorgan, Bell Garden, and Charlotteville.

01:40High-tension electrical wires resting on a rooftop in Bell Garden.
01:45Mr Stewart said Chief Secretary Farley-Augustin was briefed on the matter, and a meeting was to be held on Tobago's infrastructural needs.
01:54We are hoping to meet with the Chief Secretary, who have signaled his intent to meet with us, so we could look at the event and also look at some critical infrastructure that may be, you know, influence our operations one way or the other.
02:11TEMA says it remains in a state of heightened readiness, and continues to coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure the safety of residents.
02:20The Tobago Emergency Operations Center remains on standby and will be activated if the need arises due to the volume of reports or worsening conditions.
