There is a water crisis in Tobago and Wasa must fix the problem. This from Chief Secretary Farley Augustine as he spoke during a media conference on Monday. More in this report.
00:00One of the things that my office is treating with this week is the water issue and the water crisis on the island.
00:08I am having the CEO of Wassa coming to the island on Wednesday because Wassa have to fix this problem for us.
00:15We are supposed to be in the rainy season and if we're having problems, especially in the western, southwestern parts of the island now,
00:23God alone knows what will happen for the dry season. So we're looking at some solutions to that this week.
00:28Minority Leader Kelvin Morris is also calling on the authorities to resolve the current crisis and he is calling out the Minister of Public Utilities on the matter.
00:40Therefore, I'm calling on the Minister of Public Utilities. You had a lot to say about water and pipes as an opposition member and the Shadow Minister for Public Utilities.
00:56You are now responsible for water and pipes. Please ensure that Tobago's pipelines have water to supply our various communities.
01:07Tourists in Tobago are also complaining about the lack of water in Tobago, recently experienced at a popular hotel in Tobago West.
01:17I had the unfortunate situation of listening to a tourist while purchasing some food in the West and that tourist reported to me that he was staying at one of our more recognized hotels in Tobago.
01:38And at that hotel, he was unable to get a shower because the hotel had no water.
01:46Mr. Morris is calling on WASA to treat the matter with a sense of urgency as Tobago is three weeks away from hosting the fourth annual Tobago October Carnival event.
