Hello there, welcome to your weather update from the Met Office. Now through
00:04
the next 24 hours it's breezy and then it turns windy with some damaging gusts
00:08
through Thursday night. Before that though as you can see here it's a fairly
00:13
quiet evening on Wednesday before this weather front brings with it cloud, low
00:17
cloud at that and also some outbreaks of rain pushing ever northwards with more
00:22
rain to follow through Thursday afternoon and then this is an active
00:26
feature which will bring squally winds as well as some heavy rain. It all
00:30
clears off the scene by Friday and then we'll see the sun. Before that though
00:34
clear skies across many parts through Wednesday evening temperatures falling
00:37
away recovering towards the west with the onset of more cloud and some milder
00:42
air also some outbreaks of rain but expect a frost across the northeast of
00:46
Scotland through the early hours of Thursday morning and a chilly start to
00:49
the day across eastern counties of England. It will be wet for Northern
00:52
Ireland, the far southwest of Scotland as well as Wales, northwest England,
00:57
central southern England as well. Temperatures here by mid-morning will
01:01
reach double figures, the air is that mild. So through a Thursday morning we
01:06
watch as this wet weather continues its passage across Scotland. A bright start
01:11
for Caithness, Orkney and Shetland but more clouds and then eventually some
01:14
rain here. It's a keen wind coming up from a mild direction, patchy rain and
01:20
drizzle and low cloud will follow that rain but some breaks particularly across
01:24
eastern counties will allow temperatures to 13 degrees Celsius and some brighter
01:28
skies for Northern Ireland through the latter part of the day. Whereas for much
01:32
of Scotland particularly across more eastern and northern areas outbreaks of
01:36
rain, rain and drizzle further southwest across Wales as well as the West Country.
01:40
Now through Thursday evening that rain continues to push eastwards and this is
01:46
an active cold front with some heavy pulses of squally rain and we could see
01:50
some damaging winds just for a time as it tracks from Scotland and Northern
01:55
Ireland quite quickly towards eastern counties of England through the early
01:59
hours of Friday morning and then we see showers follow and some lower
02:03
temperatures. A chillier day all round on Friday, at least though there will be
02:08
some brighter weather, even some sunshine. So first thing on Friday that
02:12
rain clears off the scene you can see that cold front moves towards the low
02:15
countries. A lighter breeze towards the south but still windy across the north
02:20
as well as the west and these showers will become frequent through the day as
02:24
well as heavy with the risk of thunder. Brighter skies across England and Wales
02:27
we hang on to some higher temperatures across eastern counties chilly though in
02:31
the wind further north and west.
