23 November - National Evening Forecast presented by Kathryn Chalk
Transcript
00:00Hello.
00:01Well, it's an unsettled end to the weekend for some of us with outbreaks of rain and
00:05strong winds.
00:06And this is all to do with an area of low pressure.
00:09It's sinking its way south and eastwards as we go through this evening and overnight,
00:13and then drawing in some northerly winds.
00:15But as we go through Tuesday, we actually have this ridge of higher pressure extending
00:20over us, so a largely settled day to come.
00:22But if you're not a fan of the cold, it is going to be turning milder midweek, with the
00:27wind shifting to more of a southwesterly direction, but it will be breezy with outbreaks of rain.
00:35But back to the rest of this evening, and outbreaks of rain across Northern Ireland will push further
00:40southwards into Northern England, into Wales, and eventually across the south west of England
00:46as we go through the early hours.
00:48Further showers still affecting much of Scotland and Northern England as well, so there's a
00:53lot of cloud around.
00:54There's some strong winds as well.
00:55That will generally keep temperatures slightly up, so we're not expecting a frost as we start
01:01Monday morning.
01:02Perhaps just in any lengthy clear skies, you may just see a touch in rural spots.
01:08But otherwise, it's still a chilly start to Monday morning.
01:11Pretty gloomy out there.
01:12A lot of cloud outbreaks of rain.
01:14Strong winds with coastal gales across the south and west.
01:18They'll generally ease as we go through the afternoon.
01:21Otherwise, across Northern Ireland, western parts of Scotland, into Wales, and the south west of
01:27England.
01:27That's where we're going to see more in the way of sunshine as we head into the afternoon.
01:31Perhaps some glimmers across the southeast.
01:33But the main focus for those showers is going to be across eastern areas once again, where we hold on to
01:40this northerly wind.
01:41So some of the showers still could be wintry over the Scottish mountains.
01:46But for most of us, it's going to be feeling chillier, especially across the southeast,
01:50where we had more in the way of sunshine on Sunday.
01:52Temperatures now around seven to eight degrees.
01:55But factor in the wind, more like five or six degrees.
01:59So as we go through Monday evening then, we still hold on to the showers across eastern areas,
02:05pushing further inland across northeastern England and more so across East Anglia.
02:11Still have a few showers just running down across Pembrokeshire and Devon and Cornwall.
02:15But for the vast majority, as we go into Tuesday morning, it is largely dry and it's feeling colder
02:21as well with generally lighter winds as the ridge of higher pressure topples in.
02:26So likely to see some icy stretches and a frost to start Tuesday morning,
02:30especially across Scotland and northern England.
02:33So a cold start to Tuesday morning.
02:36There should be a good deal of sunshine around though.
02:40We still hold on to a focus for showers across eastern areas,
02:43but the ones out towards the west will start fading away as the ridge topples in.
02:49So many places actually by the afternoon should see a largely fine and dry day with plenty of
02:54sunshine, perhaps more in the way of cloud across eastern areas.
02:58Otherwise, still with that wind coming down from that north sea,
03:02it's still going to be feeling chilly along the coasts.
03:04Otherwise, highs up to six to ten degrees.
03:08That is all from me for now, but make sure to hit subscribe
03:12so you don't miss any updates and I'll see you soon. Bye bye.
