25 November - National Morning Forecast presented by Alex Deakin
Transcript
00:00Morning. A bit of a chilly one out there this morning, but it'll be colder this time tomorrow when the frost will be much more widespread.
00:09And although it's a bit chilly out there, many of us will have a fine day with plenty of sunshine.
00:13There are a few showers this morning for Northern Ireland, westermost parts of Wales, extending down into Cornwall.
00:19And one or two showers continue to feed in on this northerly breeze into parts of eastern England.
00:24But not as many today over northeast Scotland, still one or two, but not as wet for Aberdeenshire as it was yesterday.
00:31The showers will continue across parts of Lincolnshire and spread down into Norfolk, maybe northern parts of Suffolk at times.
00:38But away from the extreme east and the far west, many areas dry and bright and we'll see some late autumn sunshine.
00:46But of course, the sun isn't strong at this time of year, so temperatures are going to struggle.
00:50Sixes and sevens for most places, maybe double digits in the far southwest.
00:55The winds, though, although still quite brisk on some of these North Sea coasts, for most of us, the winds are a bit lighter than yesterday.
01:01So although temperatures are a little bit down, might not feel too bad in the sunshine for this afternoon.
01:07Quite quickly, though, once the sun is setting, those temperatures will be plummeting.
01:12We'll see a much more widespread frost tonight with largely clear skies.
01:16The showers in eastern England, they should be fading away, might turn a bit misty in one or two spots.
01:21And then it turns cloudy out west as the winds switch direction and outbreaks of rain trickle into the western isles by morning.
01:28For most of us, though, it is a dry night and a clear night and a cold night.
01:33And as I said, the frost much more widespread.
01:36Many towns and cities down to zero minus one, rural spots lower than that.
01:41Perhaps not quite as cold across parts of East Anglia, where there'll still be a bit of a brisk breeze blowing.
01:46And further west, temperatures will start to rise later in the night as the cloud edges in.
01:51That cloud, with some outbreaks of rain, will slowly then work its way in during the course of tomorrow.
01:57For many, a bright, sparkly, frosty start to tomorrow.
02:02But steadily, the cloud will invade from the west.
02:05The sunshine will turn hazy and make it feel quite chilly, I suspect, particularly as the rain edges into parts of southwest Scotland, western parts of England and Wales, turning damp by the end of tomorrow afternoon.
02:17Eastern areas stay dry and fine, albeit with the sunshine turning rather hazy.
02:21And the morning rain should be edging away from Northern Ireland.
02:25And as the rain moves in, eventually temperatures will be ticking up, getting into double figures by the afternoon.
02:30So quite a contrast between east and west, where eastern areas stay in the cold air, but generally it stays dry for most of the day.
02:37That rain will be becoming more widespread, becoming more extensive as we go through Wednesday, Thursday and probably Friday as well.
02:45For more on that, you'll want to watch our full week ahead video that Annie made yesterday.
