00:00The weather patterns are shifting quite dramatically through this weekend.
00:04It's been a cold week, we'll lose the frosts, although temperatures by day will only just pick up a little bit.
00:11We've got weather fronts moving in from the Atlantic, so we've lost the northerly winds
00:14and we're seeing the winds more come in from the west or even the southwest.
00:18That means cloud and outbreaks of rain, maybe a little bit of snow on the hills
00:21as this weather system moves in through Friday night and Saturday.
00:24But by Saturday morning, we're looking at cloud and rain slipping in across most parts of the UK.
00:31It's dangling in the southeast, could start dry, it'll certainly start cold here
00:34and actually many areas cheering up through the day on Saturday.
00:37Sunny spells for eastern Scotland, northern England, parts of the Midlands
00:40before further showery rain comes into northern Ireland, Wales and the southwest later on.
00:46The southeastern East Anglia stay pretty dull and pretty damp into the afternoon with a strengthening wind.
00:52Temperature-wise, well, they're going to be a bit higher.
00:54These numbers, then they have been through the week, but it's still not going to feel very pleasant.
00:59A cold start and as the cloud moves in, it's going to feel pretty fresh, I imagine,
01:04even though by the end of the day in the southwest, we could get up to double figures.
01:08Now, for Sunday, things get really complicated.
01:11The jet stream's kind of split into two out across the Atlantic
01:14and the weather model's not really completely agreeing earlier about which of these weather systems
01:19will get picked up and intensified as they move towards the UK.
01:22We now think that this secondary area of low pressure will be the dominant feature
01:28and that's what's likely to move in as we go through the course of Saturday night and into Sunday.
01:34It's low pressure actually sitting across northern Ireland and then in across England and Wales
01:40by the time we get to Sunday morning.
01:42And if this pressure pattern comes off, then notice the isobars quite tightly packed there
01:46across the southwest, suggesting some quite gusty winds.
01:49Now, this is the European model, ECMWF, compared to the Met Office model
01:53and you can see that the European model actually quite a bit deeper.
01:56Those blue colours suggesting the pressure quite a bit deeper in the European model,
02:01suggesting that low is going to be a bit more intense and have more about it
02:04and it's going to be slower to move in.
02:07So what does that mean for our weather?
02:08Well, it means there'll be showers or longer spells of rain for many during Sunday,
02:12particularly close to that low pressure and especially down to the southwest.
02:15It looks like we could see some strong and gusty winds blowing in here throughout the day.
02:21There'll be showers on and off in most areas and an awful lot of cloud around too.
02:26By the time we get to Sunday, the temperatures will tick up a little bit further
02:29but only really close to average 9 to maybe 10 or 11, perhaps 12 in the southwest.
02:34But again, it won't feel much warmer than it has done
02:37because of the strength of the wind in the southwest in particular.
02:40So yes, we are seeing some changes back to wetter weather for most of us
02:44through the course of the weekend.
02:46Temperatures picking up, but only by a little bit.
