22 November - National afternoon forecast presented by Honor Criswick.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, good afternoon.
00:01We've seen a big change in our weather over the last 24 hours.
00:05We've gone from cold and frosty to wet and windy.
00:08Many of us have seen quite a wet start to the weekend already and that rain is set to
00:13continue, particularly across many central areas of England, parts of the south and southeast.
00:17We could see some quite heavy downpours here at times and also some quite blustery weather
00:22here too.
00:23But brightening up across many areas, Wales and southwest England should see some brighter
00:27spells to end the day, and also to the north of this rain band, it should be fairly bright.
00:32A mix of cloud and also some sunny spells, though we can't rule out some showers, mainly
00:36across western Scotland, but for most it should be quite a dry afternoon away from the rain
00:42in the southeast.
00:43Still feeling fairly chilly under cloudy skies, northeast England too quite a chilly afternoon
00:49on offer, but temperatures are widely returning to more average for the time of year.
00:55Now into this evening, still quite a wet end to the day across parts of the southeast,
00:59though this rain will eventually clear away.
01:01A little drier to the west of this, but any dry weather soon being replaced once again by
01:06some showers.
01:07These turning very heavy by the time we reach Sunday morning, skating the way eastwards across
01:11Northern Ireland and pushing into many western areas of the UK by the time we reach Sunday
01:17morning.
01:18Some quite blustery conditions once again associated with these.
01:21To the east though, mostly dry, and we'll see the clearest of conditions across the far
01:26north and northeast of Scotland.
01:28So quite a widespread frost here, and do take care as there could be some icy stretches.
01:33For many, not turning quite as frosty as it did last week, but nevertheless it is going
01:37to be quite a chilly start.
01:39Many towns and cities in the mid-single figures.
01:41And I'm afraid Sunday once again is going to be quite an unsettled day.
01:47This heavy band of showers will skirt their way eastwards, pushing into parts of Scotland
01:51and Northern England.
01:52It will clear many areas of England and Wales, so turning a little brighter, but once again
01:57it's likely we'll see a day of sunshine and showers.
01:59And many western areas will see these merge once again into some longer spells of rain.
02:05And still quite windy, particularly around any areas of the Bristol Channel, particularly
02:09later into the afternoon through into the evening.
02:12Some quite strong winds here, and still temperatures not feeling quite as cold.
02:17Highs reaching around 10 to 12 degrees across this south, but many areas in the north under
02:22those cloudy skies, once again there is going to be that bit of a chill in the air.
02:28Now later into Sunday evening it is going to remain unsettled.
02:31More cloud and some showery outbreaks, but that does mean as we progress overnight Sunday
02:36into Monday it should remain largely frost free.
02:39But still it is going to feel fairly chilly.
02:41Sunday still low pressure dominating, so another unsettled day, some spells of showers and
02:46also some longer spells of rain.
02:48But notice a slight ridge of high pressure building for Tuesday and into Wednesday.
02:53So conditions will settle down, we'll see a return of the dry sunny weather, but once
02:58again a slight northerly component to that wind, so things turning chillier once again into
03:02next week and a chance we could see some overnight frost.
03:05But of course for more information on that don't forget you can always subscribe to our YouTube

03:10Bye bye.
