23 November - National Afternoon Forecast presented by Kathryn Chalk
Transcript
00:00Hello.
00:01Well after a damp start across the south east it's turning much drier and brighter but in
00:06northern areas that's where we hold on to showers and longer spells of rain and this
00:11is all to do with an area of low pressure situated across the north west.
00:15It will start shifting its way slowly south and eastwards as we go through this evening
00:19and overnight still then drawing down some northerly winds but as we head into Tuesday
00:25we'll start to see this ridge of higher pressure building so to help settle things down to
00:30give generally a brighter day on Tuesday.
00:33But back to the rest of this afternoon then so plenty of sunshine across the south east
00:38especially compared to Saturday.
00:40There will be showers focused across western parts so across Wales and the south west of
00:45England mixed with sunny spells but across the north that's where we see longer spells
00:50of rain so north of the central belt across Scotland outbreaks of rain perhaps even some
00:54hill snow outbreaks of rain across northern Ireland and northern England but northern
01:00Ireland that's where we hold on to this brisk northwesterly wind so feeling unpleasant here.
01:07Temperatures though around 7 or 8 degrees in the north but feeling chillier than that especially
01:12in the wind but in the south with the sunshine actually temperatures recovering nicely 11 or
01:1912 degrees.
01:20So as we head through Sunday evening then the air of low pressure starts shifting its way
01:26southwards so the band of rain will continue to push its way into northern England into Wales
01:32and the south west of England and we'll have some strong winds here too perhaps waking up
01:37to coastal gales otherwise turning dry across northern Ireland and western Scotland here we may see
01:44a touch of frost in places to start Monday morning but for the vast majority there's a lot of cloud
01:49around and with some brisk winds that will generally keep things frost free as we start Monday morning.
01:56But it's a pretty dull and chilly start nevertheless on Monday morning a lot of cloud around
02:02showery outbreaks of rain sinking their way southwards across the southeast that then generally clears its way
02:08through so turning drier behind that and then the main focus for showers really affecting eastern coast so
02:15across eastern Scotland northeastern England perhaps running into the midlands as well and always across
02:21the north of Scotland but towards the west actually it's going to be turning much drier and brighter
02:27into the afternoon especially across northern Ireland here actually it'll be feeling more pleasant temperatures
02:33up to nine degrees but elsewhere generally feeling even more chilly especially underneath the cloud
02:39rain and then still holding on to that northerly wind running down that north sea coast. So then as we
02:46head through Monday evening again still the focus for the showers across eastern areas out to the west
02:52that's where we'll see temperatures falling away as we start to see that ridge building in through
02:57Monday night and into Tuesday so a touch of frost is going to be in places across western areas and then
03:04as we head through Tuesday like I said the ridge building in through Tuesday and into Wednesday
03:09but otherwise as we go into Thursday that's where we draw up some southwesterly winds so it is going
03:15to be turning milder midweek but generally unsettled once again we'll see outbreaks of rain and some
03:22stronger winds but that is all from me for now but make sure to hit subscribe so you don't miss an update
03:27and I'll see you very soon. Bye bye.
03:37you
