23 November - National morning forecast presented by Honor Criswick.
Transcript
00:00Hello there, good morning. It's cold and wet out there, the perfect excuse for a Sunday
00:06lie-in. But if you do have to head out, we need to keep an eye on some blustery showers.
00:11Many areas of the west are going to see some quite heavy downpours and through the course
00:15of this morning these will spread their way eastwards. Now they will eventually clear
00:19into the North Sea, so brightening up for many areas across England and Wales, but once
00:23again we still can't rule out some showers. The best chance of any brighter weather is
00:27across central parts of England, parts of the south and southeast, the bulk of the
00:31showers moving into the west. But across Scotland, Northern Ireland, many areas of Northern England,
00:37plenty of cloud around and still a risk of showers. Quite blustery too, particularly in any heavy
00:43downpours. But temperature-wise they will be up by a degree or two, mainly across the south
00:48between 10 to 12 degrees here, but further north it is going to be feeling chilly, particularly
00:53where we do see any brisk winds. Now into the evening, it's remaining generally unsettled.
01:00We've got low pressure drifting out to the North Sea, so we'll see a change in our wind
01:04direction to more of a northerly. That's really going to add on to the wind chill as we head
01:08our way into next week. Lots of cloud around, still quite breezy, so that is going to hold
01:13temperatures up, mostly frost-free for many areas, but a mix of some drier spells and also
01:19some showers. And still quite blustery, particularly through into the Bristol Channel, we could see
01:23some quite strong winds around coastal areas here. And for all, it is going to be another
01:29chilly start. Now the good news is for Monday, we will see some more dry weather, if not some
01:34bright and sunny spells. These mainly are going to be across any inland areas. And that northerly
01:39wind is still going to drag in some showers, but most of them should be around coasts. But
01:44we could see, once again, some sleet and snow, mainly across the Scottish Highlands, but any
01:48hilly areas across the North, we could see some sleet or snow. But once again, it is going
01:53to be feeling chilly in those brisk northerly winds, similar to what we saw last week.
01:58So highs reaching between 7 to 9 degrees across the country, but in that wind, it is going to
02:03be feeling a lot chillier. Now heading our way into Tuesday, we'll continue to see low pressure
02:10out to the east, a ridge of high pressure into the west, so that northerly wind continuing.
02:15But this does mean lots of sunshine still into Tuesday as we see that ridge of high pressure
02:20move in from the west. Still, once again, though, it is going to be feeling cold, so a good chance
02:26of an overnight frost. And if you're not a fan of the colder weather, well, it should just
02:30be a slight blip with the colder conditions and then some milder weather moving in towards
02:34the end of next week. But of course, for more information on that, you can subscribe to our
02:39YouTube channel. Bye bye for now.
