00:00 Hello and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office.
00:03 Storm Ciarán brought wet and windy weather to much of the UK through Thursday but it
00:07 will gradually be pushing away towards the northeast as we go through the rest of today
00:11 and into the weekend. A very brief ridge of high pressure then develops before another
00:15 area of low pressure moves in from the west as we head through Saturday and Sunday.
00:21 Back to the here and now though and Friday will start a much drier and brighter day for
00:25 most of us. Plenty of sunny spells across the southern half of the UK, although remaining
00:29 a little cloudier across parts of northern England and into Scotland as well, with persistent
00:33 rain pushing in across eastern parts as we head through Friday afternoon. Within those
00:37 sunny spells though across the southern half of the UK, plenty of showers pushing in from
00:40 the west and these could turn heavy at times, although they will be hit and miss and not
00:44 everybody will see them. Temperatures on Friday are around average for the time of year, so
00:49 12 or 13 degrees across the south and around 9 to 10 degrees across northern parts of Scotland.
00:55 Into Friday evening, many of those showers will gradually start to ease as we head overnight.
01:00 Plenty of clear skies developing through into the start of Saturday morning and there's
01:04 showers across Scotland as well gradually easing, but turning increasingly cloudy from
01:08 the southwest with a band of rain pushing up from the south into the start of Saturday
01:13 morning. Temperatures overnight into the start of the weekend turning chillier under those
01:17 clear skies but holding up into the double figures, perhaps across the southern half
01:21 of the UK. Into Saturday itself, that band of rain continues to push its way north and
01:27 eastwards through Saturday afternoon, but the northern half of the UK is seeing a much
01:32 drier and brighter day. Plenty of sunny spells around, still some scattered showers across
01:36 the very northern half of Scotland, but many places seeing a dry day and that band of rain
01:40 continues to push its way eastwards through Saturday afternoon. Temperatures again on
01:45 Saturday, similar to what we've seen recent days, so 12 or 13 degrees across the southern
01:48 half of the UK, but around 8 to 10 degrees across the northern half. Those unsettled
01:53 conditions likely to continue through the rest of the weekend and into the start of
01:57 next week, but don't forget to follow us on social media and make sure you subscribe to
02:01 our YouTube channel to never miss a weather update. Bye bye.
