00:00 A tricky day on Wednesday weather wise. Wet and windy conditions. There are warnings in
00:06 force before the winds turn to a cool northerly on Thursday with further showers. Now through
00:12 Tuesday evening we hang on to some showers particularly across western Scotland, southern
00:17 Scotland and north east England before this wet and windy weather sweeps in across the
00:21 west country Wales. Northern Ireland is seeing some heavy bursts. The winds picking up some
00:25 strength particularly across Irish sea coasts and channel coasts. Some heavy and persistent
00:29 rain through the early hours just moving across central southern England towards the Midlands,
00:33 north west England eventually reaching east Anglia as well as eastern counties. At the
00:37 same time some clearer skies for northern Scotland away from the northern isles and
00:42 that's where we'll see the lowest temperatures. But generally a wet and windy start to the
00:45 day. So that's the picture as we head into Wednesday morning. As I said there are warnings
00:51 in force. A wind warning across southern counties associated with some strong south westerly
00:57 winds which could turn very gusty. Gusts up to 50 miles an hour. So some high waves associated
01:03 with it. And thunderstorms across this zone here anywhere from southern parts of northern
01:07 England much of Wales towards the Midlands. And with light winds the showers will be slow
01:12 moving. So the rain returns towards the west country as well as Wales. This band of rain
01:16 slowly moves its way northwards. Again persistent and heavy. Showery for northern Ireland but
01:21 a better afternoon to come here. In between this is where we're seeing the thunderstorms.
01:25 So thunder, lightning as well as hail. The persistent rain pushes towards the south east
01:30 through the afternoon. Again strong and gusty winds here. And a relentless easterly breeze
01:35 across the south east of Scotland, north east England. Again associated with some heavy
01:40 and persistent rain. But some brighter skies coming through towards the north west as we
01:43 head through the latter part of the day. As thunderstorms rumble on into the evening on
01:48 Wednesday. This rain continues through Wednesday evening across eastern counties sliding down
01:54 towards east Anglia before retreating towards the North Sea. And notice this northerly breeze
01:59 delivering clouds and some showery bursts through into Thursday morning. A legacy of
02:04 clouds as we enter Thursday across much of the Midlands, eastern and southern counties
02:08 of England. Clearer skies across northern England as well as Wales. But this cloud will
02:12 stream in here. Showery bursts will be frequent across the north and the west of Scotland
02:17 as well as northern Ireland. A little sunshine in between but some showers developing through
02:21 the afternoon. And they could be heavy again with the outside chance of thunder. Temperatures
02:25 around average for this time of year but feeling cool exposed to the wind. Here's your outlook
02:30 through Friday. Friday is likely to be a slightly better day. More in the way of brighter weather.
02:36 Always the chance of some showers. And the showers certainly across eastern counties
02:40 could again turn out to be heavy and quite persistent for a time as temperatures struggle
02:44 up to around 18 to 21 degrees Celsius. So that's the picture through the end of the
02:50 working week. This ridge comes in on Friday, dampening shower activity into Saturday morning.
02:56 But come Saturday, look at this. An area of low pressure tracks yet again in towards Wales
03:02 as well as the west country moving ever eastwards through the day. The winds will pick up some
03:06 strength. Outbreaks of rain as well. So expect some highways particularly across Irish sea
03:10 coasts. Now for Scotland, northern Ireland, northern England, we'll see some showers which
03:14 could merge the former longer spread of rain into Sunday associated with this weather front.
03:18 And then the ice bars open out so we'll see a lighter breeze to end Sunday and some fine
03:22 weather towards more southern areas.
