00:00Hello, good morning, it's a chilly and in some places misty starts to the weekend but
00:05that's not going to last long.
00:07The increasingly strong March sunshine will get to work lifting any mist, clearing any
00:12frost and under high pressure for most parts of the UK it is a dry and sunny Saturday,
00:19exception being the north-west of Scotland where thicker cloud has arrived and we'll
00:23see further showery outbreaks of rain mostly light and mostly to the north of the Great
00:28Glen.
00:29Further south, southern Scotland, much of Northern Ireland, England and Wales having
00:32a dry and bright day, long sunny spells after any early mist and fog clears and it's going
00:38to warm up quickly through the morning, temperatures peaking into the afternoon slightly lower compared
00:45with recent days but still into the mid-teens in places, warmest towards central and western
00:51parts of England and Wales along the east coast we do have a breeze coming from the North Sea
00:56and of course the North Sea at the moment ranges from 7 celsius off the coast of north-east Scotland
01:01to 9 or 10 further south so it is chilly and that's going to be felt on that North Sea
01:07coast.
01:08The north-west of Scotland also feeling cooler with the thicker cloud and the rain here becomes more extensive
01:14on Saturday nights heavier also after midnight into the north-west highlands with a freshening breeze.
01:22The cloud spills ahead of that into Northern Ireland, southern Scotland, some spots of rain through the central belt, parts
01:29of Northern Ireland.
01:29But for Northern England, it's mostly clear and for much of the southern half of the UK, extensive clear spells,
01:36light winds and as a result another cold night to come.
01:40Temperatures falling below freezing in sheltered spots as low as minus 2, minus 3 celsius in places.
01:45East Anglia and the south-east once again seeing some mist and fog by dawn but once again not lasting
01:52long through the morning.
01:53It does soon lift into clear skies, sunshine warms things up and it's by and large another bright day for
02:02many places.
02:03Not entirely sunny, there will be these areas of high and medium cloud drifting south, best of the sunshine in
02:09central southern England by the afternoon.
02:11Thicker cloud for Northern England, North and West Wales and Northern Ireland, Southern Scotland.
02:17Here a few light showers by the afternoon, a different feel to things.
02:21Northern Scotland seeing something a little brighter but also fresher as a brisk westerly breeze brings showers into the far
02:29north and northwest.
02:30Nine or ten celsius here, peaking at 15 celsius further south where we get enough sunshine but of course with
02:37a bit more cloud in the sky perhaps not feeling quite as warm.
02:41It is still only March after all.
02:43And the cloud amounts do matter at this point and the wind direction matters as well, feeling cooler along that
02:50east coast once again.
02:53Now next week, a quiet start to the week but it becomes more changeable later and it also becomes significantly
02:59colder by the end of the week.
