00:00Good evening. We've seen the last of that widespread sunny dry weather as low pressure moves in for the rest
00:06of this week.
00:07A change to much colder weather. You can see here on the air mass picture that low pressure drives in
00:12much colder air just to the north at first.
00:15But by Wednesday much of the country will be feeling very different to how it has been over the weekend.
00:22But through this evening we'll first of all see those weather fronts push into parts of Scotland, Northern Ireland,
00:27some areas of Northern England, North Wales seeing a few spits and spots of rain as well overnight.
00:32Further south and east it should remain largely dry through much of the night but it is going to be
00:37a cloudy night wherever you are.
00:39And that means it will be a much milder night than of late.
00:42We won't expect any frost to start the day. For many of us it will be 8 or 9 degrees
00:46so pretty mild for the time of year.
00:49That milder feel isn't going to last that long as it does turn colder particularly by Wednesday.
00:54But Tuesday will be quite a wet day for parts of Wales, Northern Ireland and Northern England in particular.
01:01This weather front lingers as a wave develops on it so it will persist in the same areas for much
01:06of the day.
01:07Particularly over the high ground we could see some localised flooding issues and there will be some intense gusty winds
01:13paired with this rain as well.
01:15Further north we will see showers pushing in from the north and west.
01:18Some of these of hail and snow over the higher ground but to the south and east a cloudier, breezier
01:24day but still relatively mild for the time of year though.
01:27A little bit cooler than it has been lately.
01:30Now that change to colder conditions happens Tuesday into Wednesday as this band sinks southwards across more southeastern areas bringing
01:39an intense spell of unsettled weather
01:41to many areas through Tuesday evening and then overnight northerly winds develop so that brings an increased risk of showers
01:48of hail and snow particularly over high ground.
01:51But you may notice a shower or a snow flurry wherever you are.
01:55So a chillier start to the day on Wednesday.
01:58A touch of frost in any sheltered areas that will be quite breezy so frost itself will be limited but
02:04it's going to feel much more like winter on Wednesday.
02:08Quite an intense wind chill through Wednesday so a chillier feeling day.
02:12Some brighter spells particularly across more eastern areas but also some heavy showers.
02:18These bring a risk of hail and snow as I said and those strong gusty northerly winds bring a very
02:24different feel.
02:25So highs of 8 or 9 degrees for most areas a little bit below that for many as well and
02:31the wind will make it feel even colder than that.
02:34Now that cold weather will last into Thursday but then another change moves in by the weekend but you can
02:41find more details on that on your full week ahead forecast with Alex on YouTube.
02:46See you again soon.
02:47Bye bye.
