00:00Good morning.
00:01It's a foggy start to the day for some of us, particularly across England and Wales,
00:05and some of us are waking up to scenes like these.
00:07But it won't take too long for the mist and fog to clear, so many southern and eastern
00:12parts of England, well, it will be a fairly bright morning with some spells of hazy sunshine.
00:16It will turn much cloudy, though, for Wales, the Midlands and parts of northern England
00:20as this weather front starts to push in from the north, so some patchy rain by this afternoon.
00:24None of it particularly heavy, but nonetheless it will be a bit damp in places.
00:29For Scotland and Northern Ireland, turning much brighter here, some sunny spells developing,
00:33just one or two showers around.
00:35But for northern Scotland, well, here there will be more frequent showers, and some of
00:39these will be on the heavy side, perhaps some hail, and even some sleet mixed in by the afternoon,
00:44and increasingly windy as well, so feeling much colder for Shetland and Orkney in particular.
00:49Highs are only eight or nine degrees here.
00:52But for most parts of the UK, temperature is actually, once again, above average for the
00:56time of year, and significantly warmer compared to yesterday in the very far south-east of
01:00England, where we will have lost that kind of keen north-easterly breeze that we had on
01:04Saturday.
01:05So highs are between 12 and 15 degrees for most of England and Wales.
01:09Through this evening, then, the rain continues to spread its way slowly south-eastwards, but
01:13decaying to nothing more than a few light showers, really, for southern areas of England.
01:17And then skies clear for a time for most, so it will turn into another chilly night.
01:20There will be some patchy frost developing in the countryside, and once again, perhaps
01:24some fog patches.
01:26A bit of uncertainty in terms of which areas are going to see the fog tonight.
01:29I wouldn't want to rule it out pretty much anywhere, but it's more central parts of the
01:32UK where the winds are lightest that fog is most likely.
01:36Towards the very far north-west of Scotland, it will turn breezy later in the night with
01:39a few showery outbreaks of rain, but here it won't be quite as cold by the end of the
01:44night.
01:44Otherwise, though, temperatures potentially getting down quite close to freezing in some rural areas.
01:50Any fog on Monday morning will fairly quickly lift, I think, in the south.
01:54So it should be another fine day for many parts of England and Wales, at least.
01:58Spells of hazy sunshine developing through the day.
02:01But for north-western parts of the UK, in particular western Scotland, here it will turn wet and
02:05windy by the afternoon.
02:07So pretty heavy rain developing for the Highlands and the Hebrides, and as I say, wind strengthening
02:11too, perhaps touching gale force later in the day.
02:14So a pretty unpleasant picture here, highs of 8 to 10 degrees.
02:17But once again, further south, not doing too bad, 13 to 15 degrees in the south of the UK.
02:25So after a changeable night to come on Monday into Tuesday, Tuesday does promise to be a
02:30much more widely unsettled day, stronger winds for many, outbreaks of rain or showers.
02:36As we go into Wednesday, we're expecting to see much lower temperatures flood southwards.
02:40So colder conditions and potentially some snow in places as well.
02:45So something to bear in mind if you do have travel plans in the week ahead.
02:48A real taste of winter for some northern parts of the UK, in particular by the middle of the
02:52week.
