00:00 By comparison with the weekend, Friday is looking like a reasonable day if you're into
00:06 sunny spells at this time of year.
00:08 And Thursday ends with plenty of clear spells but some showers getting going or continuing
00:13 at least across northern England, much of Scotland and Northern Ireland, particularly
00:17 around some of these north and north-western coasts.
00:19 In fact, Northern Ireland is seeing some longer spells of rain just a trundle long later.
00:24 But where we've got the clear spells elsewhere, temperatures will fall away.
00:27 I think in main urban centres staying in the double figures but in rural parts single figures
00:32 are certainly feasible and for central sheltered parts of Scotland 5 to 8 Celsius.
00:40 So a fresh feel as we begin Friday but bright skies for many particularly towards the south
00:45 of England, South Wales, central Scotland elsewhere a lot of cloud.
00:49 Showers soon emerging and again it's another day for most of sunny spells and showers.
00:54 But the showers this time more focused towards eastern Scotland into northern England, the
00:58 Midlands, North Wales, East Anglia, the South East, the South West largely staying dry with
01:04 some sunshine.
01:05 Western Scotland also seeing mostly fine weather but I think where we've got the showers coming
01:10 through elsewhere it's going to feel on the cool side.
01:12 A brisk north-westerly breeze continues for the likes of Shetland and Orkney and for Northern
01:18 Ireland here, well it turns increasingly damp by the end of the afternoon.
01:21 The first signs of the more unsettled weather as we head into the weekend.
01:26 This band of rain initially light and patchy will push into the south-west of Scotland,
01:30 north-west England, north Wales.
01:32 It's more a case of daytime showers eventually becoming more prolonged into the evening and
01:38 by the end of the night as you can see we start the weekend with this swathe of cloud
01:41 and outbreaks of rain affecting central and western areas.
01:44 Clear towards the south east, a milder night to come.
01:47 Northern Scotland once again rather cool but bright.
01:50 In fact, Northern Scotland is the place to be this weekend if you are after dry and bright
01:53 weather.
01:54 That's effectively the only place in the UK where we are likely to see mostly fine conditions.
02:00 Elsewhere we've got weather fronts basically stretching across the UK from the north-west.
02:05 A series of fronts so spells of rain coming along and easing at times.
02:11 That rain will be on and off but it will be heaviest and most persistent on Saturday across
02:15 some western hills especially north Wales, perhaps parts of Cumbria, the south-west moors.
02:21 Gaps in between the rain elsewhere, don't expect it to rain all day and it will be a
02:25 dry start for south east England before the rain turns up around lunchtime.
02:30 Like I say, Northern Scotland one or two showers but otherwise sunny spells.
02:33 18 Celsius possible here, 18 possible further south but we've got the spells of rain and
02:38 where it's raining, where it's also fairly breezy especially around the English Channel
02:42 coast it's going to feel on the cool side.
02:45 Those spells of rain continue into Saturday night before eventually clearing away to something
02:50 a bit more showery on Sunday although it stays damp across some parts of central and southern
02:54 Scotland, Northern Ireland and Northern England.
02:57 More unsettled weather on the way for next week.
03:00 Bye bye.
03:00 Bye.
