00:00Hi there.
00:01Increasingly, warm spring sunshine will make an appearance during the next few days for
00:05many parts of the UK, but not for all.
00:08There is a pesky cold front that will bring some wet weather to Western Scotland and Northern
00:14Ireland during the rest of Tuesday, and then it will become trapped under high pressure
00:18as high pressure builds across the UK.
00:20At the moment, we're in between a warm front and a cold front in many places, a warm sector
00:25so it is mild, and as the winds switch from south-westerlies to more of a southerly, we'll
00:31see the cloud break up widely across many parts of England and Wales, although some western
00:37and southern parts of England as well as Wales will remain largely cloudy.
00:41One or two spots of rain as you can see off the coast of Pembrokeshire there.
00:45The thickest cloud however, Scotland and Northern Ireland, accompanied by strong winds, the gales
00:51that we've seen earlier in the day, tending to ease as we go into the afternoon, but still
00:56blustery.
00:56And we've got this heavy rain as you can see, the west and north-west of Scotland, western
01:00parts of Northern Ireland, and that heavy rain is more or less staying in the same place
01:06throughout much of the day, making it feel unpleasant.
01:09But towards the east of Scotland, the south-east, brighter skies, and for many parts of England
01:14or Wales, where we've got that sunshine, and with winds easing, it's going to feel very
01:18pleasant 16, perhaps 17 Celsius.
01:21Now overnight, the rain in the north-west does tend to edge further south-east to affect parts
01:27of central Scotland.
01:28It then eases as the front sits under a building area of high pressure towards the east, and
01:35that frontal zone will become trapped across Northern Ireland, Southern Scotland, Northern
01:41England by the end of the night.
01:42Clearer skies for the northern half of Scotland.
01:44Lighter winds, so temperatures falling away, and we'll see lowering temperatures across
01:50the southern half of the UK as well.
01:52Mid-single figures, perhaps a touch lower in some sheltered parts, and certainly some
01:57mist and fog forming in places.
01:59That's not going to last long.
02:01The increasingly strong March sunshine will help to lift it during the first few hours
02:05of the day.
02:06And then blue skies widely for many parts of England and Wales.
02:10The north of Scotland is seeing some bright skies as well, one or two showers.
02:13But this frontal zone, it's just lingering and just wobbling across parts of Northern Ireland,
02:20Central and Southern Scotland throughout Wednesday.
02:22So, a stark contrast compared with the warm spring sunshine further south.
02:26Temperatures a little more suppressed, 11 or 12 Celsius, not feeling quite as pleasant.
02:31A few spots of rain as well.
02:32However, in the central and southern parts of the UK, widely we can expect 18 to 20 Celsius,
02:40one or two spots a degree or so higher than that.
02:43Very pleasant indeed in the sunshine with lighter winds compared with how we've started the week.
02:48We keep those clear skies across England and Wales overnight, but the lingering front there,
02:54a very weak feature, bringing thicker cloud and some spots of rain to parts of Scotland
02:58and the far north of Northern Ireland.
03:00That then starts to drift south again on Thursday, and mostly as the winds switch to more of an
03:06easterly, that will bring thicker cloud to eastern Scotland and the northeast of England.
03:12Again, a few spots of rain, but nothing significant.
03:14Much sunnier skies by this stage on Thursday for Northern Ireland, Western Scotland, and
03:19so a warmer day to come here.
03:22Temperatures, though, further south, a degree or so lower compared with Wednesday.
03:26Still warm in the sunshine, but with the easterly bringing in less mild air as a result, and
03:33it's going to feel much cooler on the North Sea coast, I suspect.
03:37We keep the largely fine weather through the rest of the week and into the weekend.
