00:00Good morning. It's all change again today with another spell of wet and windy weather on the way for many
00:05of us, at least for a time.
00:07But to begin the day, in the southeast, it's actually quite bright.
00:10So some early morning sunshine across eastern parts of England and the southeast.
00:14Further west, though, we have already got the thicker cloud.
00:16Outbreaks of rain are pushing their way eastwards across England and Wales.
00:19Quite showering in nature, so not raining the entire day, but some rain reaching the southeast by this afternoon too.
00:25Further west and north, well, it's going to start to turn much brighter.
00:28So a mixture of sunny spells and heavy, blustery showers for Scotland and Northern Ireland right the way through the
00:33course of today.
00:34Some of those showers will really be quite heavy in nature, bringing some hail down to lower levels and perhaps
00:39the odd rumble of thunder too.
00:40It will also start to turn colder through the course of the afternoon.
00:43So by the end of the afternoon, temperatures down to just five or six degrees in some spots and, as
00:48I say, some snow across the higher ground.
00:50It will turn brighter, though, across parts of northern England, Wales and the southwest as well through the afternoon.
00:56But even here, there'll be some showers.
00:58Temperatures in the south, similar to yesterday, but actually feeling way more unpleasant compared to on Saturday, with the breeze
01:04being stronger and outbreaks of rain.
01:07The rain will tend to ease away from eastern parts of England quite quickly, though, this evening.
01:11And then most parts of the UK will be in the same boat, with a mixture of clear spells and
01:15fairly frequent showers.
01:16The showers most frequent towards the northwest of the UK and falling as a mixture of hail and sleep down
01:22to quite low levels and certainly some snow across the high ground of Scotland, several centimetres perhaps across the highest
01:28ground here, but also some snow for the high parts of Northern Ireland and also the Northern Pennines.
01:33The driest weather overnight confined to parts of eastern England, the east of Scotland and parts of the Midlands, where
01:39we may well actually see temperatures get quite close to freezing, particularly in the countryside.
01:43So there could be some patches of frost here, but for most towns and cities, well, temperatures staying largely just
01:49above freezing.
01:51Now, it will stay windy overnight across more northern parts of Scotland in particular, so gales for Shetland and Orkney.
01:57And another spell of wet and windy weather arriving through the day on Monday is we see this next band
02:01of rain pushing north-eastwards across Northern Ireland, so a wet morning here, and the rain pushing into Northern England,
02:07North Wales and Western Scotland by the afternoon.
02:10Further south and east across many parts of central and southern England and Wales, the rain will be much more
02:16patchy and light, so there will be a good amount of dry weather here.
02:20And actually across the very far north-east of Scotland, particularly Aberdeenshire, where we could see some sunshine into the
02:25afternoon here.
02:26Temperatures once again quite close to average for the time of year, 10 to 12 degrees, but where we're in
02:31the stronger winds further west, it will feel fairly unpleasant.
02:35So a fairly changeable picture over the next few days, and into Tuesday, it continues to stay quite damp across
02:41some northern parts of the UK, with bits and pieces of light rain and drizzle,
02:44but a much drier outlook developing across England and Wales, and slowly brightening up.
02:48By the time we get to Wednesday and Thursday, where we could see high pressure dominating across many parts of
02:53the UK, that will bring plenty of sunshine, particularly across England and Wales,
02:57and we'll also see temperatures climbing into the high teens Celsius for some of us.
03:01So something to look forward to if you are a fan of the dry and warm weather, but do make
