00:00If it's warm, sunny weather you're after, well, today's going to bring a bit of a treat for many of
00:05us, but not all of us.
00:07That's because there is actually a front lying across the UK, kind of running from southern Scotland, northern England,
00:12through to the Republic of Ireland at the moment, and this is bringing a little bit of drizzly rain and
00:17more cloud.
00:18Elsewhere, lots of dry, sunny weather to be had today, and particularly to the south of the front,
00:22we're dragging in our air from the south-southeast a warm direction,
00:26so we are going to see temperatures rising quite markedly, particularly across the bulk of England and Wales.
00:32So as we go through today, then, like I say, we have this front across some southern parts of Scotland.
00:37It is going to edge a little bit further northwards into parts of Northern Ireland,
00:40all the time bringing more cloud in these places, and there could be some drizzly rain at times,
00:45maybe a little bit more persistent at times over Northern Ireland, but the rain not especially heavy.
00:50Towards the northwest of this, there may be a couple of showers for some northern western parts of Scotland,
00:55but on the whole, it's looking largely dry, and there will be some bright, sunny spells as well.
00:59But the best of the sunshine, almost wall-to-wall blue skies, will be across the bulk of England and
01:04Wales.
01:05And with that sunshine and that warm air that I highlighted at the start, well, temperatures are going to rise
01:11quite widely.
01:11We're going to see them getting into the high teens Celsius,
01:15and because of the wind direction towards northern and western parts of Wales, North Devon,
01:20we're looking at temperatures peaking low 20s perhaps, 20, 21 Celsius.
01:2522 can't be ruled out.
01:27A fair bit fresher than this towards the northwest.
01:29Fairly mild though for the time of year, temperatures widely getting into double figures,
01:33despite the cloud and the rain.
01:35Then, as we go through into this evening and overnight, that front continues to linger across parts of Scotland.
01:41It shifts a little bit further northward still, so starting to clear away from Northern Ireland.
01:45The rain breaking up, but continuing across some southeastern parts of Scotland.
01:49Further north, there'll be some clear skies.
01:51Still just one or two showers can't be ruled out, but some clearer spells for most,
01:55and then lots of clear skies across the bulk of England and Wales.
01:59As a result, despite it being pretty warm during the day, I'm expecting temperatures to take a bit of a
02:05drop.
02:06Where the cloud lingers, it's going to be a little bit milder.
02:08But where we get those clear skies, well, it is going to turn a bit chilly,
02:12perhaps a bit chillier than last night, widely getting to mid to low single figures.
02:17Some places, some prone spots could drop a little bit below freezing, particularly the valleys,
02:22so we could see a touch of frost in some places, as well as some pockets of mist and fog,
02:26particularly towards northern and western parts of England and Wales.
02:30But any mist and fog that does develop overnight, well, that's going to quite readily burn away,
02:35because, well, tomorrow's going to be, again, a largely sunny day for many of us.
02:39Still some cloud lingering across some southern, southeastern parts of Scotland,
02:44and pushing into some northeastern parts of England as well.
02:47But for most of us, yes, it's looking dry and often sunny.
02:51So any fog will quickly clear away, and then we'll see temperatures rising as well after that chilly start to
02:57the day.
02:58Temperatures perhaps not quite as high as they will have been through today.
03:01We're looking at highs widely in the mid-teens for most places.
03:05High teens may be scraping into the low 20s, but, yeah, not quite as high as what we saw through
03:11today.
03:11Worth also bearing in mind there will be some blustery winds towards both the northwest and perhaps the southwest,
03:16but elsewhere light winds, so in that sunshine feeling pretty warm again.
03:20Then looking ahead to 2 Friday, and it's a similar story, really.
03:22A bit chilly to start off with.
03:24Could be some pockets of mist and fog in a few places.
03:26But, again, this will all clear as we go through the day.
03:29And once more, a largely sunny day for the bulk of the country.
03:33A bit of clouds starting to push into the far northwest of Scotland.
03:36Could be a few spots of rain.
03:37And it's looking even sunnier than through much of the week so far
03:41across some parts of southern and eastern Scotland and northeast England,
03:44because that front will have actually cleared away and broken up.
03:48And so, yeah, many places just having lots of blue skies.
03:52Even slightly cooler air coming through, however.
03:55So temperatures, if anything, a few degrees down compared to Thursday,
03:58which, remember, was a few degrees down compared to today.
04:01Nonetheless, with generally light winds away from the blustery northwest
04:04and perhaps a bit of a breeze towards the southwest,
04:07again, it should feel fairly pleasant.
04:09Remember, days are pretty long at this time of year.
04:11In fact, this Friday, it is the spring equinox.
04:15So make sure you enjoy that.
04:16I'll see you again soon.
04:17Bye-bye.
