00:00On today's toy spot we're going to be having a look at the new Bandai Thundercats classic
00:04figures.
00:05Today we're going to be looking at the Lord of the Thundercats.
00:08We're looking at Lino.
00:30I've always wanted a definitive Thundercats line.
00:35Sadly when I was younger, another story spot really, well that I think by now you guys
00:41know when you come to this channel, you not only get a review, you also get a little bit
00:45of a story.
00:46Story time, when I was younger, I used to collect, I had Thundercats cartoons, obviously I watched,
00:53and I always wanted a Thundercats toy.
00:55Well, my friend already had Lion-O, and you maybe know how the story goes.
01:01Your friend talks you in and says, I've already got Lion-O, why don't you get someone else?
01:07And I said, well you know, I really, surprisingly I had an adult voice when I was little, I said,
01:13you know, I really would like a Lion-O, and he's like, well, I've already got a Lion-O,
01:17if we play, we can't have two Lion-Os.
01:19So this guy went to Toys R Us and bought a Panthro.
01:25Yeah, it was fun, I played, my friend had Lion-O, I had Panthro, but at the end of the
01:31day I always wanted a Lion-O.
01:33Now if you jump ahead in time via a time machine, you'll then look at the new Thundercats toys,
01:40and what a night and day comparison.
01:42I've been waiting so long to get these guys, can't wait to get this opened up.
01:50The toy features 18 points of articulation.
01:54One thing I do like about the packaging is the fact that it's open, it's open front, they've
02:02got the very retro Thundercats font at the top there, Thundercats classics.
02:10On the, oh, on the side there, we've got Lion-O, Thundercats, hoooo, I don't know why I said
02:17it like that.
02:18On the back, it says, roaring back into action, these highly detailed and articulated figures
02:24are based on the classic 1980s animated Thundercats series.
02:29Includes sword, dagger, claw shield, and extra hand.
02:33Create action poses, and as you can see, we've got the Lion-O in the Thundercats ho stance,
02:40I guess.
02:42Him also showing off his sword, he's like, hey guys, look at this sword, I just found
02:46it, look at it.
02:47Down below you can collect them all.
02:49Other classic figures you can get right now are Tigra, and of course the 6 and 4 inch line
02:55from the new series, each sold separately.
03:01There's very few toys out there that I would say, well worth getting two, one to keep sealed,
03:07one to open up.
03:09But I love the design of the toy packages on these figures, that I would say it's worth
03:15probably getting two of them.
03:16One to open up, for your playing pleasure, and one to keep sealed and have on display.
03:23I might even try to pick up another one of these, so I can keep it sealed, but what I
03:27am going to do though, is I'm going to open this up for you guys, and we're going to have
03:31a better look at the Thundercats Classics Lion-O.
03:34Stay tuned guys, there is more on the way.
03:40And now that Lion-O is out of package, wow, what an incredible figure.
03:44I think Bandai did a fantastic job on not only designing, but manufacturing the figure itself.
03:52It again, leaps and bounds over the original Thundercats toys.
03:59Let's get a closer look at Lion-O, zoom into his face, and the first thing you'll notice
04:06this is a very cartoon accurate head on Lion-O, right down to that very iconic Lion-O hair.
04:17What was Lion-O doing with that hair?
04:19I don't know, but I've got to say it looks fantastic.
04:22The toy definitely looks like the cartoon.
04:25One thing I do like is the coloring on the figure itself.
04:30We've got the really light coloring of his tank top or whatever Lion-O was sporting.
04:39His skin color is again accurate to the cartoon.
04:43Just a great, great job.
04:45The Thundercats symbol looks very cool also.
04:53Now there was a Comic-Con exclusive Lion-O as well.
04:57And having seen other reviews of it, I can honestly tell you I'm so glad I did not get
05:04that Lion-O and instead picked up the retail release of the figure.
05:11Perhaps yes, it had the metallic blue and everything else, but my way of thinking is if it is a
05:19classic
05:19line depicting how it looked in the cartoon.
05:22The cartoon, he did not have metallic coloring, nor did he have really horrible paint, extra
05:29paint washes on his muscles.
05:32He was just a single color.
05:35And so to get a single color in the top, in the skin, I think works perfectly, in my opinion,
05:44for this figure.
05:49Now, it's my opinion as well, if I just put Lion-O here for a second, he just stands there
05:56for a second.
05:57Just for a second Lion-O, we'll get right back to you.
06:00Of the accessories that Lion-O comes with, of course he's got the Sword of Omens, two versions.
06:05He's got the smaller dagger.
06:10And something I want to touch base on too is also the coloring of this sword.
06:15The San Diego Comic-Con was a metallic silver, whereas as you'll notice here, the retail release
06:22of the figure has just a matte silver.
06:25A lot of people preferred the metallic silver.
06:29This guy prefers the dull matte silver.
06:32Again, if you're going to release a figure based on the cartoon, in the cartoon, he didn't
06:37have a shiny metal sword, it was more of a matte color.
06:41So to get a matte colored sword for me is perfect.
06:46It is rubber, which is also, at least in my opinion, is also a good thing because it's
06:52not accidentally going to snap if you've got it in a box somewhere, you know, you drop it
06:56or whatever like that.
06:58But he does come with the dagger Sword of Omens.
07:01He does also come with, pan it out in the spot, we can't see all of it.
07:05He also comes with a much larger Sword of Omens with the extended blade.
07:13Again, I've got a little bit of schmutz all over the blade here.
07:18Again, it's a matte silver, which I prefer.
07:21It's just my matter of preference, but I do prefer that it's a matte silver versus a metallic
07:28silver.
07:28Also rubber.
07:29It's a rubbery sword blade.
07:33Whereas the metallic silver seemed to be a solid plastic.
07:37The solid plastic, I would be concerned again if this fell or if it was in a box and it
07:41leaned
07:41against something that could break off.
07:43Whereas I don't mind it being rubbery.
07:45I would rather a distorted sword blade than a broken sword blade.
07:52And zoom in, you can see, yes in fact, once again the Thundercats logo looking very, very
07:58cool.
07:59The only thing I probably would have done if anything is I would have filled in some of
08:03these areas here with the other color that the sword was instead of just having it silver.
08:09But that's a small, small gripe for a very impressive sword.
08:15When we factor in what the other Sword of Omens...
08:19Was it actually silver?
08:20I'm trying to remember if the original toy was silver or if it was this horrible red.
08:24I think it was like this orangey red, but having a silver sword certainly makes more sense.
08:30Other accessories that Lion-O comes with is not one, I'll grab the other one here, comes
08:36with two alternate hands.
08:39Now he's got one gripping hand which will serve to replace this hand.
08:43He also has one open hand that will replace the claw shield.
08:48And what we'll do is we'll just change these out.
08:50I'm going to change them out anyways because I want the hand to be able to hold the Sword
08:55of Omens.
08:56It's just a simple pop off.
08:59I would also say be careful.
09:01I don't think I've heard many people having this problem, but I would be a little careful
09:04with such a small peg that you don't take the hands off and on and off and on because
09:09you could run the risk.
09:12I don't even want to even say it while I'm doing it.
09:15Okay.
09:15It is on.
09:16You could run the risk of bending or snapping that peg.
09:22So there we've got the one hand.
09:24The other hand, the other arm, pops off and you've got the claw shield going there.
09:31Poor Lion-O.
09:31I'm just picking and pulling this guy apart.
09:34Stay there for a second, Lion-O.

09:38The claw shield looks very cool.
09:42As a fan, I'm sure I'll nitpick it just a little bit more.
09:45It also would have been nice if they had interchangeable, what do you want to call them, knuckle grapple
09:51hooks that you could have actually had one or two of them that you could pull off and
09:55put the extension where you could have them deploying them or what have you.
10:02Now, as the claw shield, what you can do is there is a little holster on the side of Lion
10:10-O's
10:10leg.
10:10You can take it where the hole was, if you guys can see it, where the arm plugged into
10:16it is a very similar peg that you can peg into the holster.
10:24Now I've had the problem a couple of times where this holster wants to pop off once you
10:29get it in there.
10:31But if you can finagle it just right, finagling it, it's a great word, finagle, I love saying
10:38finagle.
10:40If you finagle it just right, you can get the holster in there, you have to maybe turn
10:44it just a slight bit so it's not going to get in the way as it were.
10:50There we go.
10:51That's what we wanted.
10:52Poor Lion-O's still is without a hand, so let me give this guy a hand.
10:56There would be the alternate hand there.
11:00I would be the type probably to keep the claw on the arm rather than keeping the alternate
11:05hand, but you can do either or.
11:07You can certainly do either or.
11:09If I take the claw off, there's a slot right at the top there.
11:19And if you take the smaller dagger, you can take the dagger and slide it into the claw.
11:27Again, you can have it on the side of Lion-O's leg or you can also have it back on
11:34his arm.
11:36You can keep the Sword of Omens, at least in the dagger way, you can keep it on the side
11:43of his claw, which again is really, really cool.
11:47Might not make much sense if he's got the extended blade in one hand and he's got the
11:52smaller dagger in his claw, but it's nice that the option is there.
11:59Take that out.
12:01In the way of his articulation, Lion-O's head is on a ball joint, so you can move it left
12:08and right, up and down.
12:10His neck is also on a ball joint, which will allow some additional movement there.
12:16He has a pin and socket shoulder, which allows his shoulder to move up, rotate it all the
12:22way around.
12:22You can rotate at the bicep, you can bend at the elbow, and see there goes the hand coming
12:27off.
12:30I think once I've got the grip hand on, I think I'm just going to keep it on, I'm not
12:35going
12:35to move it around too much.
12:38The wrist, the hand moves at the wrist, you can also bend the hand back and forth.
12:42He has a mid-torso bend at the top there.
12:46He also has a waist ball joint.
12:49His legs can bend out, back and forth.
12:52You can rotate at the upper thigh, bend at the knee at two points.
12:56You can rotate at the boot.
12:57You can bend the boot up and down, and you can also rotate at the foot as well.
13:05You can certainly get lots of articulation, my friend, lots.
13:09Yeah, there are gripes here and there.
13:11There's not really too much.
13:12I mean, there is paint that's been missing in some of the joints.
13:16I mean, that could be colored all the way in.
13:18You'll notice it as well in the wrist section here of lino.
13:22But, if I look at that and I compare it overall to the figure itself, it's small little gripes
13:31versus a fantastic figure.
13:34I can't say enough good things about lino here.
13:37However, I'm just hoping, I'm hoping and praying that they release the rest of the Thundercats
13:45as in the classics line.
13:49Maybe one day I'll eventually get another Panthro.
13:52And then I can call up my friend and say, yeah, that's right, remember me?
13:55Yeah, I got Panthro again.
13:58Do you?
14:00And he'll say, who is this?
14:01And I'll hang up.
14:04But lino here, I am going to give a solid 9 to.
14:09There's really not much wrong with this figure.
14:11And all the while, a great, great flashback to my childhood.
14:20This is a great figure, well worth picking up if you can find it.

14:29Today we're having a look at the Bandai Thundercats 8-inch Classics lino.
14:38Also as a side note, for anyone who is all that upset with the fact that these are 8-inch
14:44figures versus 6, I can understand where your concern is.
14:48But again, it's small gripes compared to how cool this figure really is.
