00:00On today's Toy Spot, we're going to be looking at the Marvel Legends Spider-Man movie line
00:04from the Sandman series. Today, we're going to be looking at Venom.
00:20Personally, I think Venom shouldn't have even been in Spider-Man 3.
00:25And I've said this to a couple of friends of mine when we've talked about it.
00:29But if you ask me, I think what they should have done was at the very end of Spider-Man
00:342,
00:35they should have had the symbiote come down from the sky and attach itself to the Spider-Man scooter
00:41as he's driving away.
00:49And then at the very end of Spider-Man 2 is when the symbiote should have been crawling up his
00:55leg
00:55and then latch itself onto him.
00:56So by Spider-Man 3, I think the entire Spider-Man 3 should have just been Spider-Man in his
01:01black costume.
01:02So you could see, you know, any amount of time could have elapsed.
01:07We don't know as the viewing audience.
01:09He could have had the costume on for a couple of weeks, could have had it for a couple of
01:12months.
01:13But I think the entire Spider-Man 3, Spider-Man should have been in his black costume.
01:18And he should have lost it at the end of Spider-Man 3.
01:26And, you know, he should have...
01:28And then maybe Venom could have been, you know, teased at the very end of Spider-Man 3
01:33to be the villain of Spider-Man 4.
01:35That's really what I think should have happened.
01:37I totally rushed in this movie.
01:40By the time we see Venom, you know, he's gone.
01:43He's only in it for, what, 5-10 minutes?
01:45It's a bit of a shame.
01:49Again, much like the Sandman figures, or the Sandman figure from this line,
01:55the original Venom figure was released in like a 4.5, 5-inch scale.
02:01Really disappointing that they went with that line.
02:03Very close to picking it up, although it was more of a purple color.
02:07It was completely off color for Venom.
02:10Almost picked it up.
02:12I ended up not picking it up, though.
02:13But luckily they released Venom in a more Marvel Legends scale size.
02:20They finally released him in this figure.
02:22And one of the figures I picked up, he was the very first, maybe the second figure I picked up,
02:27was the Venom.
02:29As you can see, limited movie edition.
02:31You've got several pictures of Venom.
02:40Topher Grace, I know a lot of people didn't like his Venom either.
02:42I think he would have been fine, but just, again, way too rushed.
02:48On the back of the package, the other figures in this wave are
02:50Mary Jane, New Goblin, Doc Ock.
02:52We've got Green Goblin, Spider-Man, Venom, Black-Suited Spider-Man, and finally, Sandman.
02:57He can collect all eight figures, build the mess of a figure known as Sandman.
03:04Read up on Venom says,
03:06Eddie Brock can't remember the moment at which he went crazy.
03:09He was a normal man once, maybe with a surplus of anger, but never a killer.
03:15The symbiote changed him, made him somehow more stronger, faster, smarter, more angry.
03:21Gave him claws and the will to use him.
03:23It took his rage to the man who destroyed them both, Spider-Man.
03:27And it made it potent, powerful, murderous.
03:30As Venom, he's got all the fighting skills and high-flying talents of Spider-Man.
03:36As Venom, he's got one goal, the destruction of Spider-Man.
03:41Also didn't like the fact that they rushed Eddie Brock in Spider-Man 3.
03:47They didn't really give enough reason, personally, for him to hate Spider-Man as much as they did.
03:53Or Peter Parker.
03:57Again, had they really had Spider-Man in his black costume from the beginning of the movie,
04:03completely through to the very end of the movie,
04:05you could have slowly developed the character of Eddie Brock,
04:10so that by the time Spider-Man 4 came around, Eddie Brock was now Venom.
04:15But no, they rushed it, which I think really ruined it.
04:19Real name, Eddie Brock, occupation photographer, power of super strength, web spinning, enhanced reflexes.
04:26Knows, here we go.
04:28Pan it up again.
04:30Zoom it in.
04:33Knows, everything about Spider-Man.
04:36No one, is that a question again?
04:40Gets in his way.
04:41Weakness, sound waves.
04:46Knows, everything about Spider-Man.
04:48No one gets in his way.
04:53I don't even want to comment on that.
04:55There's packaging, though, on Venom.
05:00He looks nice.
05:01I think he looks like a great figure.
05:03And I'm hoping that's going to continue on when I get the figure out of the package.
05:07The only way we're going to find out, though, is we're going to get this package to open up.
05:10We will have a better look at Venom.

05:23first of all, I'm even sorry for the fact that you would have a checklist, because that means you would
05:28have also bought these figures.
05:29But, if you are collecting these figures, such as I have, the piece that Venom comes with is the other
05:36arm.
05:37We'll bring it in right now.
05:38The other arm of Sandman.
05:41We'll just snap it into place.
05:45And there we've got...
05:49Oh, there we've got Sandman.
05:51The only thing missing is his head.
05:57So, yeah.
05:58Move that out of the way.
06:01We'll pick up poor Venom.
06:02I think he knew where it was going.
06:04I was going to bring out the piece of Sandman.
06:05He didn't want to see it.
06:06I don't blame him.
06:11I've really...
06:13I've really crapped on this entire line of figures.
06:16I really have.
06:18Some figures have been better than others.
06:20The Sandman wasn't too bad.
06:22But, yeah.
06:23It could have been better.
06:25They've used two figures that have already come out in the past.
06:29And whether they've retooled them ever so slightly, I'm not quite sure with the Goblin and Doc Ock.
06:36We've had some figures that, if you ask me, are complete passes, like the Mary Jane.
06:43And then we've had disappointing figures, like the Black Costume Spider-Man and the Original Costume Spider-Man.
06:49So, overall, I mean, I've said bad things about this whole line.
06:54And I actually have to stop.
06:57Just kind of take a moment.
06:59And I really have to appreciate how nice this Venom figure is.
07:05This Venom figure more than makes up for the fact that the other figures were as bad as they were.
07:15And I'll give you guys a close-up look of the face here.
07:23They've done a great job, actually, on the face of Venom.
07:27I don't believe this is a larger scale to the original 5-inch Venom.
07:34I think this is a new mold altogether.
07:38I've got a little bit of hair on his leg here.
07:41The coloring is nice.
07:43It's not the lighter gray that the Spider-Man was.
07:48In fact, I'll move Venom out of the way.
07:50I'll bring in the Black Costume Spider-Man, just to kind of give you guys a comparison here.
07:55As you can see, Spider-Man, by comparison, really looks light in color.
08:00He's got this light, light gray.
08:02Almost seems really washed out versus the Venom.
08:05Scale is really nice, too.
08:07Granted, the scale isn't like that in the movie.
08:11They're pretty much the same height in the movie.
08:14But I like the fact that they could have easily taken this body, as messed up as it is.
08:21They could have easily taken this figure and slapped on a smaller version of this head.
08:26And there we had Venom.
08:28And even that would have still been a nice figure.
08:30But I like the fact that they went with a larger body.
08:35Much more over-proportioned than what he was in the movie.
08:40Much broader in the upper torso, which I really, really like.
08:44But the paint, I think, is really, really nice.
08:46That is what I was talking about.
08:49I mentioned earlier in the reviews that Spider-Man, I didn't like his black costume,
08:53because it just looked like a black-and-white version of the original costume.
08:59This is kind of more or less what I'm talking about.
09:02It would have been nice if the Spider-Man costume, when he had the symbiote,
09:07kind of just looked like it had this tar kind of laid over it,
09:11where it's this nice, shiny black.
09:15I think it would have looked a lot nicer than really what it ended up being.
09:19But I really like this Venom.
09:21I really like him quite a bit.
09:23In the way of his articulation, he has the full ball-jointed head.
09:30He has the ball-jointed shoulders.
09:31You can rotate the bicep.
09:33Two points of articulation in the elbow.
09:35You can rotate the hand as well as bend it.
09:38He has the mid-torso articulation, which isn't bad articulation.
09:43Certainly nothing like the original costume Spider-Man.
09:47No waist articulation, but he has the articulation in the leg.
09:52You can rotate the thigh.
09:54Two points of articulation in the knee.
09:56You can also rotate the foot, bend it up and down.
10:00So he has a lot of articulation.
10:02He's got weird feet, though.
10:04Really small, chubby feet.
10:07But, I mean, that is the only gripe I can make about this figure.
10:12This figure, to me, is like a bad relationship.
10:20You go out with a girl.
10:22Everything goes wrong with it.
10:23It's not what you thought it would be.
10:25You break up horribly.
10:27Yeah, you still think about her.
10:30But every time you think about her, you just think about the bad memories you guys had.
10:33The bad experiences.
10:36The soured love.
10:38And then you meet a new girl.
10:41Or a new guy, depending on what sex you are.
10:45You meet someone new.
10:47They seem very similar to the girl or the person that you went out with before.
10:53But, they're perfect.
10:55You know, and you think to yourself, wow.
10:57You know, this is nothing like the crappy relationship I had before.
11:01I can really see that there's other options out there.
11:04That's what this Venom is.
11:06Other options.
11:08Great figure.
11:09This Venom, I'm going to give an 8 to.
11:12And definitely makes up for the poor figures that were before it.
11:17I do really, really like it.
11:18Well worth picking up.
11:19If you can pick up any figure from the Spider-Man line, this is the figure to get.
11:24So, I'm going to give an 8 to Venom.
11:26And that was a toy spot on the Marvel Legends Spider-Man movie line.
