00:12On today's Christmas spot, we're going to be having a look at the Memory Lane, Mickey's Christmas Carol.
00:18Today we're looking at Mickey Mouse as Bob Cratchit.
00:22A pretty nice looking Mickey Mouse in package. Don't have him out yet.
00:27In the background you can see Scrooge and Marley, actual place where Bob Cratchit works, his little stool going on
00:38there.
00:41He comes with some accessories, we'll get into that when we get the package opened up.
00:46But on the back of the package, the other figures that you can get from this set of six figures,
00:52we've got Scrooge McDuck up the top corner there, right there, as Ebenezer Scrooge.
00:56We've got Mickey Mouse as Bob Cratchit, we've got Minnie Mouse as Mrs. Cratchit, Morty Mouse as Tiny Tim,
01:02Goofy as Jacob Marley's ghost, and finally Donald Duck as Scrooge's nephew, Fred.
01:07There is also a three-pack set featuring Jiminy Cricket as Christmas Past,
01:11Willie the Giant as Christmas Present, and Pete as Christmas Future, which is a fantastic set.
01:17That will be coming up as well.
01:19The read-up says,
01:21Inside the office, Scrooge's clerk, Bob Cratchit, shivered as he copied letters.
01:25Surely Scrooge wouldn't miss a little coal.
01:27As he lifted the scuttle, Scrooge burst into the room.
01:31Cratchit!
01:32What are you doing with that piece of coal?
01:34I was, haha, trying to...
01:37I can't even do it.
01:38I'm not going to do a Mickey's impression, don't worry.
01:40I was trying to file out the ink, replied Bob.
01:42Bah, you used a piece last week.
01:44Now get on with your work, Cratchit.
01:46Speaking of work, Mr. Scrooge, tomorrow is Christmas, and I was wondering if I could have a day off.
01:56Again, what I really like about these little read-ups is that it's actually a piece from the movie.
02:02You get enough of the characters together, and you can put together, essentially, the story of Mickey's Christmas Carol.
02:10I'm looking at the other figures that make up this set, and I'm almost thinking that Mickey here was the
02:15first figure.
02:16They really actually should have put numbers next to him so that you know, but based on this read-up,
02:21it seems the closest that I can gauge to what would be the original, the beginning part of the movie.
02:29So probably it would be Mickey as Bob Cratchit as the first figure to have this read-up, and then
02:35I'm assuming it's probably Donald Duck as Scrooge's nephew as the second read-up.
02:40Clearly, when I did the review of the Scrooge up at the top there, I would have naturally picked him
02:46as the first figure to review, but it seems like he's got the last read-up.
02:52Really kind of goes against, again, what I've said about the figure, because the figure is a happy figure.
02:56It really should have been the scruntled Scrooge, and therefore it should have really had the first read-up, but
03:02I digress.
03:04Needless to say, that's packaging on Mickey.
03:06What I'm going to do is I'm going to take a bit of a magical break, going to get this
03:09out of package, and we are going to have a better look at Mickey.

03:17Alright, just to get it out of the way, Mickey, yes, he is laying down. There's a reason for it.
03:20We'll get into a second.
03:22The accessories that come with Bob Cratchit.
03:24First of all, he comes with Home Sweet Home.
03:29Which also brings me to another point that I'm going to make, and that's the ongoing concern, the ongoing issue
03:36with these memory lane figures.
03:38They give us accessories that you can't do anything with.
03:42Sure, if you had it on a shelf or something, you could probably put this on the back of your
03:46shelf.
03:47But they're giving us accessories that you just can't do anything with.
03:52Now, Goofy would have the knocker, the door knocker, just kind of floats there.
03:57It just doesn't have a purpose whatsoever.
03:59Same with the Home Sweet Home.
04:01Nice? Practical? Probably not.
04:06He also does come with the, I guess, Scuttle, the little container, the little pale container, where you can keep
04:14the single piece of coal that comes with Bob Cratchit.
04:21Be careful with these, because I'm sure one piece of coal, you're going to lose it.
04:25If you have a little baggie or something you can put these into, these little accessories when you open up
04:30the figures, I probably would advise doing that, because you're going to lose this little piece of coal.
04:36And then Bob Cratchit is going to freeze to death.
04:40He does also come with an inkwell, a little feather pen.
04:46Geez, you know, a desk would have been really, really nice as well.
04:50Really, they could have done a deluxe set that would have had maybe Scrooge's desk and Bob Cratchit's desk.
04:58And then you would at least have spots to put these things, you know, the money that came with Scrooge,
05:04the inkwell that comes with Cratchit.
05:06No? I don't know. It makes sense to me.
05:11But it's this. I mean, again, it's just going to sit on the ground.
05:15You're really not going to be able to do much with it.
05:16And finally, Bob Cratchit does also come with a hat.
05:21We'll take Mickey.
05:22Put the hat on his head.
05:25It looks like there's just grooves on either side that sandwich in between his ears.
05:30And that's it.
05:31I was going to say at least it holds it, but it doesn't really hold it either.
05:35Somewhat.
05:38It's pretty much the same as Scrooge.
05:40It sits there, but it doesn't sit there well.
05:44And I really, I'm not going to probably have him displayed with the hat anyways.
05:47So the fact it falls off, let it fall off.
05:50Just put those aside there.
05:53Let's have a look at Mickey, which I think this is one of the nicest Mickey figures I've collected in
05:58my collecting days.
06:01It looks quite a bit like Mickey.
06:02I like the fact that he's got this little cloth scarf going on there as well.
06:07I have a real serious glaring issue with this figure.
06:12Actually, the same issue, really, as the Scrooge.
06:16If I turn it sideways, it looks fine from the front.
06:20If I turn it sideways, something looks clearly wrong with this Cratchit.
06:27You'll see that he's kind of in a sitting position.
06:32Now, I notice he does have articulation.
06:34So I thought, oh, okay, that's not so bad.
06:36I'll just move these legs back.
06:38Well, you move the legs back, and the knees.
06:43I'm having a problem with the knees that, eh, maybe.
06:47You can kind of move it forward, but it looks awkward.
06:50It does look a tad awkward to straighten the knees.
06:54I guess at least he stands.
06:58We'll give it that.
06:59At least he stands.
07:01But the Scrooge have the same problem.
07:03They've got this weird articulation, or the way that the legs are sculpted, I don't know.
07:08It just makes for a back-heavy figure that doesn't want to stand.
07:10The likeness, though, is spot-on.
07:13It's perfect.
07:17Underneath, you've got Mickey's jacket going on there.
07:21Speaking of articulation, Mickey's head rotates left and right.
07:24His arms rotate back and forth.
07:26All the way around, but the ears of Mickey are kind of going to kind of get in the way.
07:32You can bend at the arm and rotate at the hand.
07:36But you'll see what I did there.
07:37To bend the arm, it bends from the front.
07:42Normally, figures, the bend would be like right here, that you bend the arm up, not this way.
07:48It's different.
07:51And I'm wondering, in my infinite wisdom,
07:54I'm wondering also if they've bent the arms this way, too,
07:58so that Mickey can hold Tiny Tim.
08:02He's thinking a bit there.
08:08But it's very interesting, the fact that the arms bend inward.
08:12There's got to be a reason for it.
08:14By George, I think I'm going to find out.

08:18There's no waist articulation,
08:21but the legs,
08:22there's a split right...
08:24I'll move this scarf.
08:25There's a split right in the middle there,
08:27which will allow his legs to move back and forth.
08:31Also, as I mentioned, you can bend the knees.
08:34Not a lot, though.
08:35They don't really allot for much clearance.
08:38That's about all they do.
08:46And see, the problem is,
08:47yeah, the problem is he doesn't stand as well,
08:49unless you've kind of got him hunched over.
08:53Really like the Mickey.
08:55The coloring is really, really nice.
08:58Bit of an issue with the standing,
09:00but overall, he's still a pretty solid figure.
09:02Mickey, or Bob Cratchit, as it were,
09:05Mickey, I'm going to give a 7.52.
