Nothing OS 5.0, built on Android 17, is now rolling out to four more Nothing phones. 📱
On October 30, 2026, Nothing posted the stable Nothing OS 5.0 update for the Phone (3a), Phone (3a) Pro, Phone (4a) and Phone (4a) Pro on the Nothing Community, and 9to5Google and Android Headlines reported the rollout the same day. Here is what changes, what is different between these phones, and how to get it.
What's new (from Nothing's official changelogs):
• Translucent theme for the launcher, with a frosted-glass style and accent colours from your wallpaper. The classic Nothing style stays available.
• New Geist system typeface, redesigned Settings and redrawn status bar icons with subtle animations.
• Two new lock screen clock faces and a colour option for the clock; Depth (Beta) wallpapers can be pinched to shrink.
• Arrange home screen icons in bulk: long-press the home screen and tap Arrange.
• Three new widgets: Collector, Away Time and Glyph Timer, plus a dedicated Glyph app.
• Split Quick Settings and notification panel (Settings, Notifications, General), one-tap Bluetooth connect/disconnect, and a three-colour status bar indicator for sensitive access, location and AI processing.
• Camera: refreshed design and Dual-view Video (front and rear cameras at once), plus improvements to recording, zoom, close-ups, QR scanning and Motion Photo playback. Phone (3a) series also gets Tuning (seven adjustable effects) and upgraded Presets with a new 2x2 widget.
• Expanded Dark theme, Enhanced HDR brightness, refined Live Updates and Noto 3D Emoji in Gboard. On Phone (4a) and (4a) Pro, Essential Voice transcriptions appear faster.
How to update: Settings, System, System updates, Check for updates. Nothing advises backing up photos, call logs and contacts first; the phone may feel warmer and use more power while installing. The rollout is staggered, so it can take a few days to reach every phone.
What's next: Nothing's roadmap from August 2026 listed mid-November for Phone (2a) and (2a) Plus, late December for Phone (3a) Lite and mid-January for Phone (4b) and CMF Phone 2 Pro. Those dates could still change.
