00:00Hi there, this mixed classic early September weather continues with a couple of jet streams
00:06across the Atlantic sending us a succession of weather fronts interspersed by ridges of
00:11high pressure.
00:11Here's Saturday's rain queuing up in the Atlantic, here's Friday's ridge of high pressure, mostly
00:17fine day to come, here's Thursday's weather front, an occluding system that is already
00:22bringing rain to Northern Ireland, Scotland, western parts of Britain and that will continue
00:27into the afternoon.
00:28Brighter colours here indicating some heavier rain, especially over western hills and that
00:32rain amounting to 20mm across western and north-western parts of the UK, up to 40mm for some of the
00:38wetter spots of upland north-west UK.
00:42As you can see though, it's fragmenting as it's pushing east, it's turning more showery,
00:47it doesn't quite reach east Anglia and the south-east where we keep some sunshine into
00:50the afternoon, temperatures into the low 20s here.
00:53And further west, high teens, a fresh feel particularly as the wind picks up, moderate to strong winds
00:59expected around western and north-western coasts as well as hills.
01:03Here's that fragmenting band of rain as it comes south-east overnight.
01:08Some drops of rain for the south-east but not a huge amount, 2-5mm in places.
01:13Further showers follow from the west but more broken cloud in places so clear spells coming
01:19through.
01:19Keep the cloud for the longest in the south and as a result temperatures staying in the
01:23mid-teens in places, a milder night compared with the previous night.
01:28But further north, mid-single figures in some sheltered spots and we've got plenty of cloud
01:34around first thing, rain slowly clearing the south-east, showers in western parts initially,
01:40those showers becoming fewer and lighter into the afternoon.
01:44After any early mist patches clear in the south, some brightness following, a lot of cloud, patchy
01:50cloud here and there but some sunshine and a mostly dry and bright afternoon to come for
01:56the UK.
01:57Most likely showers into the west of Scotland but drier elsewhere and feeling pleasant with
02:04lighter winds, temperatures a little higher compared with Thursday, 22 to 24 Celsius in
02:09the south-east, mid to high teens in the far north-west.
02:13And that wind starts to pick up once again towards the north-west as we end Friday afternoon
02:18ahead of the next weather front that turns up for Friday night.
02:22This is going to be a properly wet affair as it moves into the north of the UK on Friday
02:28night and drifts its way southwards during the second half of Saturday.
02:35So yeah, the chopping and changing continues and we'll keep you updated with all the latest
