00:00Hi there.
00:01Many places woke up on Wednesday morning to gloomy skies and the sound of rain falling
00:06on the window.
00:07But it's going to be a mixed picture across the UK during Wednesday as a complicated series
00:14of weather fronts traverse across the country.
00:17Wrapped around these weather fronts, a lot of humidity, a lot of cloud cover as well.
00:22Northern Scotland avoiding the weather fronts throughout much of the day.
00:26Sunny spells here after a strong wind eases across Shetland.
00:30But we follow the progress of these outbreaks of rain from Northern Ireland into Central
00:35and Southern Scotland easing a little, breaking up into showers across Northern England and
00:40plenty of showers for parts of Western and Central England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
00:46Drier towards the South and South East, a lot of cloud though and a humid feel where the
00:51cloud does break, likely to see temperatures of 24 or 25 Celsius.
00:55Fresher for Northern Scotland, but that's where the brightest skies will be through the
00:59day.
01:00Nevertheless, the rain band pushes north across Northern Scotland overnight.
01:05Heavy and prolonged at times.
01:07Also some lively downpours reaching Western Scotland as the night goes on.
01:11Eventually, by the end of the night, we're looking at a drier picture across the UK.
01:16Not completely dry.
01:17Still areas of clouds.
01:18Still some drizzly showers here and there and some more persistent rain pushing back
01:22into the southwest along with a brisk breeze.
01:25All in all, with higher humidities, temperatures staying up 17 or 18 Celsius in the south, mid-teens
01:31further north.
01:33A wet start to the day then for Shetland and Orkney on Thursday.
01:36Cloudy and with some drizzly showers elsewhere.
01:41But actually, it does brighten up through the morning and we'll see a period of a few
01:45hours of sunny spells for many parts and we keep the sunshine into the afternoon across
01:50the south of the UK with temperatures here reaching 27, perhaps 28 Celsius.
01:56So very warm once again.
01:58In the far north, showers, but across Northern Ireland, Central and Southern Scotland, North
02:03West England, another spell of wet weather arrives.
02:06Again heavy and persistent and this tends to continue through the evening and overnight.
02:12It spreads more widely across Scotland, Northern England into North Wales as the night progresses
02:18as well.
02:18You can see the brighter colours there indicating some especially heavy rain through North Wales
02:23and North West England.
02:24To the south, mostly dry.
02:26Showers for Northern Scotland.
02:28And once that rain clears through on Friday, we'll see further showers for a time before
02:32higher pressure builds for a couple of days this weekend.
