00:00We normally get a little bit of carnage here, we've got 26 riders lining up for MX2 here this weekend.
00:04Everett's on the inside gate, hoping to control the inside line.
00:07Gate drop now, Everett's with an okay jump, but it's McClellan who slightly out-drags.
00:16But it's Sasha Coonan who sweeps across everybody else, Kai Carsmakers and Maxim Groh go off the side of the
00:22track there.
00:23As everybody turns left, they get forced off to the right, but it's Coonan who leads at the first time
00:27of asking.
00:29McClellan there in second place, and he's looking to find his way up the inside of the Belgian at the
00:33first time here.
00:34Can he? He out-drags him to the line, he takes a look across, Coonan knows he's there, he throws
00:38him a rear wheel.
00:40They don't touch in the air, but McClellan just losing out.
00:44Sasha Coonan just hanging on to that lead for now.
00:47Perez there in third, he's just found his way past Mikula on the number 20,
00:51and there's Lata on the 18 with another good start, and Giannis Raceless as well, just behind him.
00:56He's already found his way past Langenfelder on this opening few corners.
01:00Explosive start in his first MX2 race.
01:03Perez suddenly passed McClellan, Paul, up in the second place there for the Spaniards,
01:07so he's been in business as well.
01:08Great scrapping, all the major players at the front end, apart from Everts,
01:11who crossed the timing beam in eighth, but he's since passed Giannis Raceless, I believe.
01:15McClellan back up the inside of his teammate as they head for the Dragons back.
01:20Perez a little bit front end low there as he hit that Dragons back,
01:24so we've got McClellan going back past his teammate, goes after the 19 of Sasha Coonan.
01:32Mikula there in fourth place, Lata Raceless, good start for the number 20 on the Osichka KTM.
01:38Julius Mikula coming into view any moment now, there he is in bright orange through the waves.
01:43This was kind of causing all kinds of problems in the qualifying races late on yesterday.
01:48You can see they put some track work in, in the break, during the break,
01:52where they've been able to fix the takeoff points on the jumps and those waves,
01:56but expect them to break down.
01:58McClellan has got his claws into Sasha Coonan here on this opening lap.
02:02Normally Sasha Coonan very good at trying to be the runaway guy in these opening laps with those sprint laps,
02:08but Camden McClellan matching him every step of the way.
02:12I spoke to Vincent Baraney before the riders made their way to the line for the,
02:18before the warm-up lap, and he said that yesterday he struggled to get the bike set up for
02:23Gim Perez. That was more on him because they're two different riders, different riding styles,
02:28you know, so it's not a one-size-fits-all for them.
02:30But he thinks he's gone in the right direction with Perez today, judging by the pace of the number 99,
02:35that would ring true. Both triumphs on song here in the early stages of this first race.
02:39Yeah, and it's the battle we haven't really seen at the sharp end yet so far this year.
02:43McClellan chasing down Sasha Coonan, going hammer and tong, and for sure with Coonan,
02:48he does not want to roll over, obviously, but it's good to see him getting his elbows out
02:52and stopping the chart from the South Africa.
02:53The top three in the championship going absolutely wheel to wheel, bar to bar.
02:57You've got Perez, Coonan and McClellan, that's how it is in the championship,
03:00but it's Coonan, McClellan, Perez as it stands right now in the race.
03:06Just starting there, pull clear of Julius Michele and actually Perez just getting dropped here ever
03:11so slightly as these two continue to push on with a devastating pace.
03:17Out of 11, into 12, out of the right-hander, the other side of the trees,
03:22packed house here at Arnhem, atmosphere absolutely electric.
03:25I wouldn't be surprised, it's another record crowd for Arnhem, because obviously fourth visit here
03:31and it's as packed as I've seen it in all of those years that we've been coming here.
03:36Latta, looking impatient, looking desperate to find his way past the rider in orange.
03:40Julius Michele, there's that double through the end of the wave section,
03:43so two different options through there.
03:46Langenfelder has found his way back past Racilis as he regains that sixth position.
03:51So Simon Langenfelder may not have got the great start, but he looks like he's got good pace underneath him
03:55on that Red Bull KTM.
03:57Good to see Latta not falling down the pack as early as he did yesterday.
04:01We hope for the Italian sake that he can put in a better ride here.
04:04No real mug in sand, obviously Italian hard pack specialist, but he's digging in at the moment.
04:08Everett's though the big loser in the start here, eighth place at the moment,
04:11just got past Carlos Regilis in that last lap, but got a lot of work to do to catch the
04:16leaders.
04:16So Julius Michele then leading this group of riders, heading up from fourth place, just behind him,
04:22the Honda HRC Patronus rider, Valerio Latta, then Langenfelder, then Giannis Racilis in blue,
04:27then Everett, and Latta goes past Michele, still got a bit of work to do though, fighting everything
04:34through that wave section as it gets deeper and more chewed up as this race wears on already,
04:40and we're only, what, two, three laps into this race, so that will get worse as it goes on as
04:45well.
04:47Langenfelder tries to nip down the inside, but Michele has him covered, and Giannis Racilis with a good
04:52turn of speed here on the Yamaha, he's got back up the inside of Langenfelder, he's going to be on
04:56the
04:56inside of the German as he launched his way up the inside. Langenfelder sense there was an opportunity
05:02there to get taken out, so he kind of looked across and said, you know what, let's hang back here,
05:07but Giannis Racilis on fire here around the outside of Langenfelder before, tries to steal another
05:13position with a pass on Michele, Michele just keeping him back in his position there in sixth place at
05:18the moment. A busy lap for Giannis Racilis. Absolutely very busy for Giannis, and yeah,
05:25still got Langenfelder behind him, Langenfelder stuck in the eternal quandary there, had to go wide and
05:31not follow, but still then gave up the place to Giannis, who's now working on Nikola.
05:35Giannis Racilis will cut to the inside here,
05:38and then back to the outside, you'll hear the KTM of Langenfelder behind him, Langenfelder wouldn't
05:43have liked that too much, so now you've got three riders separated by about three bike lengths,
05:49fascinating stuff this, in this battle for fourth place, Perez is about six seconds further up the track in third
05:57and Lata just ahead of them, by another couple of seconds, tell you what, it's always risky throwing the back
06:03wheel out like that,
06:04especially when you've got pit lane right there where it is, oh I tell you what, that was close,
06:09I thought Racilis was just going to give him a friendly elbow down the inside,
06:15Racilis finds his way through, he's going to get bounced around all over the place here in this next
06:19couple of corners, but he does manage to force his way by into fifth position, good hard riding that from
06:24the Latvian
06:28and Evertz up the inside of Langenfelder and they're bringing Carlos Racilis with them as well,
06:34what did we say at the start of the race, this place never disappoints, always provides fascinating
06:39racing and great racing and we're getting it again here in abundance in 2026, Evertz all over the back
06:45of Michele now, as he moves into seventh, Carlos Racilis finding his way past the German, not quite,
06:55thought he was going to get caught the same way he did a lap ago when Yanis was up the
06:59inside of him,
07:00looked like he left the door open but he was able to just close that down, prevent the 47 from
07:05finding
07:05a way through, Evertz now knows he's got the speed to go after a potential race win, certainly a Grand
07:12Prix podium here this weekend, not the best start but he looks up for it does the 26 on the
07:19Nastana Spana,
07:20can't afford to leave the door open there though because Langenfelder will just knock it off its hinges
07:27Langenfelder just coming up a little shorter than Michele through that right hander that double
07:34and Langenfelder, I tell you what if he was close enough through there and he's eyeing it up isn't he,
07:38a little bit of a rehearsal going on there from the number one, because the outside line draws you in
07:44immediately and Evertz down the inside of Michele here, he's going to chop him off on the exit,
07:49he does but Michele cuts back to the inside, he uses that momentum, launches his way back past but
07:55here comes Evertz and Evertz will run him to the outside, prevents any kind of comeback, Evertz hard
08:00riding and he finds his way into sixth place. And that's a great sort of attitude that we haven't
08:05seen that much this year from Evertz, just with authority bossing it over Julius Michele, of course
08:13think he should be ahead of the private Osijka KTM rider, but yeah moving across there now up in
08:18the sixth place, don't forget Julius Michele didn't score any points here last year so this is already
08:23a massive progression for the young Czech rider. Simo Langenfelder will be past Michele at the end of the
08:28straight if he can keep it on two wheels, would have been a heart-in-the-mouth moment there for
08:33the defending champ, gonna have to follow the 20 through here. Watch this here, catches an edge
08:41around about now, lucky that it didn't catch the edge to the inside of the peg because that would have
08:47reacted and gone away to the left-hand side and he might have been in a world of pain around
08:52about
08:53now, but he survives, he keeps it on two wheels, he lives to fight another lap, but can he find
08:58his
08:58way past the 20 of Julius Michele sooner rather than later, that's the question. Just dropping
09:04outside of the top 10 now, it's got Smolders down to 12th place, Peli Gunderson into the 10th
09:08into 10th spot on the Scandinavia Husqvarna, so looking good there, and Noltsanos just on the edge of
09:13the top 10 in 11th. Cutlass Raceless in the background in blue, the second of the Montrennigy Yamahars,
09:19going after Simon Langenfelder here, he may take the long sweep around the outside here as
09:23Langenfelder doubles to the inside, Carles Raceless desperate to find his way past both the KTMs,
09:29the privateer KTM of Julius Michele on the 20 and the factory Red Bull KTM of Langenfelder,
09:33who sides his way up the inside of the Czech rider and takes away that seventh position.
09:45See Carles Raceless trying to use the outside line to good effect as well, but again not able to get
09:51close enough, commit to the outside here, he's gonna have to probably go the outside again unless
09:58Michele tries to close him off and that opens up the opportunity, good riding that from the 47,
10:05Carlos Raceless finds his way past the 20, messes up on the next corner,
10:10oh very tight through there as Michele just tried to fence him to the outside.
10:18Michele hanging on to that eighth place somehow, but loses out at the end of the next straight.
10:25Watch this here, just about a bars width between them, Raceless goes through into eighth, Michele down to ninth.
10:34Quite really close there and Giannis Raceless is shopping, he's on the same second as Lata there,
10:39fourth place is the battle to come for sure, and McLennan though Sasha's gone away a little bit,
10:44four and a half seconds now the gap and Ferez 1.3 behind his teammate, here's that battle for fourth.
10:51Valerio Lata on his own there in fourth place, he was a moment ago, but Giannis Raceless here,
10:597.72, Monster Energy Yamaha factory MX2, fastest in warm-up this morning, fastest in time practice,
11:05had to be content with fifth in the qualifying race on Saturday,
11:10looking to try and make amends here if he can today, he's definitely got podium pace in him.
11:17It's good for Valerio Lata, been up and down for him over the last few races, for one reason or
11:23another,
11:24obviously a lot of speculation about what he is or what he isn't doing next year in MX2,
11:28where he's going or where he's staying and all the rest of it, but he's definitely holding himself accountable here,
11:35but Giannis Raceless will go to the outside, Lata will close him off, Lata holds on to that fourth place
11:43at the moment,
11:44and it's inside just that little bit shorter, you need to be side by side into that turn to make
11:49that pass stick.
11:52Ah, cuts to the middle there does Raceless, loses out, Lata hanging on for a bit, a little bit longer,
11:59these two fights in over fourth, Evertz about one and a half seconds further back in sixth, then Langenfelder,
12:03Carlos Raceless, Julius Mikula, Noel Zanotz in the top ten on the Venru KTM, good ride for the Hungarian,
12:10as he fends off Pele Gundersen of Norway, Scott Smulders, Oli Kolmer, good ride for the Chambers rider on that
12:17KTM in 13th,
12:18Andrea Rossi, Gaspari, Bal, Pucalli, Korsbeck and Volker, Zanotz up to ten, finding his way past Gundersen,
12:24in between those two sectors, that's why he is there in that tenth place, Noel Zanotz.
12:30And it's hard news there for GRT Kawasaki, Kai Karsmaker's out again after lap three,
12:35he was down in the first corner alongside Maxime Groh, Groh has recovered to 17th so far,
12:40but yeah Karsmaker's out for the second time of the day.
12:44He was out yesterday in the qualifying race after lap six, was that point?
12:47Yeah, so was that technical or...?
12:50Yes it was, yeah, yeah, suffering at the moment.
12:55Liam Evertz, trying to close in on Janis Raceless, Raceless here in blue,
12:59Evertz, is he going to be around the outside closest to us? No, he doubles his way just about,
13:04and there must have been a mistake there in the run-up to that Monster Energy jump,
13:08because all of a sudden there was a nervous look over the shoulder from Janis Raceless,
13:11wanting to know who was there and how close he was, well he got an eyeful didn't he?
13:16Proper rear view mirror view of the 26th of the Nastana Svana, who again cuts to this inside,
13:23takes the shorter route through, it's not going to work there, but you see how that cross riding can happen
13:28so easily coming out of that first turn. Again, look at the late decision there from Evertz,
13:34maybe the late decision as well from Janis Raceless, probably hear that motorcycle, thinks right,
13:38I'm going to prevent that move, but he can't prevent that one, Evertz now up in the fifth,
13:43Raceless down to six.
13:49Next man in the sight of Evertz is the 18 at Valerio Latta on the Honda HRC Petronas machine,
13:56but Evertz now into that fifth place, terrible start for him,
14:01but he's making up for it here, but the problem is Evertz there in that fifth place,
14:06he's 18 and a half seconds off the lead as it stands right now,
14:10and his lap times similar to those around him, it's only Sascha Koonen with a five-second advantage,
14:14that last time around was a 49.8, about a second quicker than McClellan,
14:18they're the only guys below 51 because Perez, Latta, Evertz all in the 51s,
14:23and then we've got Janis Raceless 53, Langenfelder back in the 51s as well,
14:27so is Janis Raceless on borrowed time there, even though he's got a four-second advantage over
14:32the German. We're getting ready to go down to pit lane, at least have some information for us
14:37regarding what's happening in the race here, so let's go down there now and hear the updates from
14:42down there trackside. Yeah, I'm just in pit lane, unfortunately we just saw home rider Kawasaki
14:48Dixon racing rider Kai Karsmaikas retire from the race, what actually happened was that he crashed
14:54by himself, the clutch lever broke, they tried to desperately fix it but no can do, he's got a
14:59little graze on his arm, on his right arm, nothing to write home about, but unfortunately the home
15:04rider's going to go back to the pits, lick his wounds and come and line up for the second race,
15:09but it's been a difficult weekend, we saw him retire from the race yesterday in the qualifying
15:12race due to an issue with his bike, but let's hope he can regroup and put in a good performance
15:18in that race too for his home fans. Cool, thank you for that Lisa. Yeah, I was always told to
15:25sort of,
15:25uh, you know, clean those wounds, uh, medically, surgically, you know, rather than just lick my
15:29own wounds, but there you go, how things have changed. I think it worked in the canine world,
15:36but yeah, good stuff. Evertz bouncing his way through that wave section down towards
15:43the far end of the circuit, here are the two triumphs McClellan and Ferez, Ferez just gaining
15:48ever so slightly on his teammate here, or what? Because, uh, 1.5 seconds, set to 1, 29.7 for
15:55Coonan, 30.2, they're pretty much the same, McClellan and Ferez on that sort of, uh, lap, if you like.
16:03I was talking to, uh,
16:07uh, we'll continue that in a moment, but, uh, this backpack on the section here, we're talking about the
16:12dirt, the sand and how soft it is and how much water they put down earlier on in the broadcast,
16:16and then you've got, uh, some parts of the track where the ground's a little bit harder and the
16:21bumps a little bit harder, so it's so unpredictable, this racetrack here, nice and deep coming out of
16:25that turn, the faces on these waves are hard and edgy, then as you get through here and land off
16:30of
16:30this, you can see it's a little bit soft there, and then as we hit that jump and this part
16:34of the
16:34circuit here, those, uh, bumps are very, uh, Balkansward-esque, that sort of hard, firm, black sand, so, uh, so
16:41much
16:41going on with the riders as, you know, you've got a good flow through some of the bumps and then
16:45that
16:45twitchiness that you find where you're fighting the front end and the rear end on several occasions,
16:50so the riders have really got to think outside the box on this racetrack, even though it's high
16:54speed and it's very physically demanding as well, mentally challenging because of everything that
16:58changes from lap after lap, but it's a real sort of test mentally for the riders here just because of
17:04the high speed nature of what is a sand track essentially. Yeah, and, uh, like you're saying,
17:08that Guillaume, uh, the Triumph team struggling for the setup with Guillaume there, of course,
17:12you set it up for the big bumps, the big dunes, sometimes then the bike doesn't respond that
17:16well to small, pattery braking bumps, so, yeah, it's a real headache for the setup as well as for
17:21the physical side of it. And, uh, there was a rider in EMX 250 actually today, the Australian Byron Dennis
17:27got on the podium, he's only done two EMX 250 rounds, he was fifth overall a week ago in Sweden,
17:31third overall here today, prior to Sweden he was able to ride an ADAC round in Germany at Gaeldorf,
17:36I went saw him after the podium and he said every track that he's ridden has been different on this
17:42trip, the hard pack of Germany, the, you know, the nature of Sweden, now the deep sand here,
17:47you know, so he's, uh, definitely been put to the test, the riders being put to the test here are
17:52Valerio Latte and the 26 of Liam Evertz, Evertz looking to go around the outside here if you can,
17:58you'll hope that it's quite a low kind of crossover point from that inside line but you see how that
18:04inside is gradually building up towards the exit making it difficult or more difficult for the
18:09riders to sort of go wide and get a smooth transition on the, uh, on the back straight
18:14there getting out of that turn because the higher that berm all of a sudden you end up hitting that
18:17and jumping before you, uh, can get your wheels on the ground. Oh look, the attendance, the weekend
18:24fans this weekend, 30,200 and there is barely a blade of grass in around this racetrack and
18:29the organizers here building more grandstands, longer grandstands, of course, the hospitality
18:34area where they are as well, they're elevated to a point where they can see a lot more from the
18:38infield as well, so, uh, this GP here in the Netherlands at Arnhem going from strength to
18:43strength year in year out, I wonder how much of that is the hurlings factor because of him being
18:47right at the very top of his game at the moment and Kai DeWolf in MXGP, a former Grand Prix
18:51winner here in
18:51MXGP, of course, you know, those two at the top of the game, Lotta van Drunen, you know, she's come
18:56in,
18:56she's, uh, on form as well now, she's already raced earlier today, so there's a lot to be sort of
19:03thankful and cheerful for if you're a Dutch fan at this Dutch Grand Prix here this weekend. Yeah, I mean,
19:08uh, as, uh, they said in time practice yesterday, Antipieren in there of the Kawasaki team basically
19:13saying there are two races this weekend, there's the two Dutchies out in front and then it's, uh, the battle
19:17of the third, so, yeah, Dutch domination is expected for the home fans and, uh, they've come out to
19:22support all their guys. And the Belgians have crossed the border to sort support their young
19:26pocket rocket here, the number 19 Sasha Coonan on the Red Bull KTM, here's how that start played out
19:32and Coonan from about four gates over hanging off the back of his Red Bull KTM, he's swept through the
19:37inside. Maxim Groh and, uh, Kai Carsmakers going off there but Sasha Coonan now with 14 foxhole shots
19:45in the season. Is that nearly clinched the annual total? It's, uh, got to be close to, uh, not being
19:50able to be caught in that table. 48 now as well. Well, he's on, uh, 14, nine clear of the
19:57next best,
19:58which is Simon Langenfelder. How many races we got left? Seven? Um, six? Oh yeah, seven after, yeah,
20:05the second one today, yes. So, yeah, that one's done and dusted, another, uh, 5k in the back pocket
20:10by the time we get to Australia. Good work, little man. And, uh, the, uh, Triumph, uh, riders have a
20:17lot of banter between them as Everett's gets close to the latter again, but, yeah, the two Triumph boys
20:21have a lot of banter about how much better Ferez is off the start than Camden McClellan, but that time
20:25Camden got the drop on him. This time Everett's clean through that wave section, doubles his way around
20:31the turn and in the meantime, finds his way past the 18 of Valerio Latte. He moves up into that
20:36fourth
20:36place after about three laps of trying. So now he's got clear track by the odd back marker here or
20:41there.
20:43Everett's now 14 seconds to make up to Ferez. And now that he's not behind the, uh, the Italian,
20:50just wonder how much that lap time will come down, if any. It'll be interesting to see how this plays
20:54out
20:55between Ferez and Everett's. Of course, very easy to make a mistake around here as well. Simple error,
20:59you can out break yourself, go over a berm, get cross-rutted. And, uh, as you come in to land
21:03here, this is Kunin, obviously, just into the left right before the start straight.
21:09And little things like that are what gonna cost you. Incredible balance from the little man there,
21:16sticking the leg out, just making sure he uses all of the little levers he has just to keep upright.
21:21Yeah, nice slow-mo action there from the lads. And, uh, Valerio Latte, let's have a quick note on
21:25him. Fifth place, he hasn't seen him in the top five since Germany back in early June. So,
21:30I'm not sure whether it's a mental thing. Sometimes there's, there's question marks about what you're
21:34going to do next year. And sometimes, once that gets cleared up, riders are more free mentally and
21:39seem to ride better. But it's really good to see Latte hanging on to this one on a track that
21:42doesn't
21:43really play to his normal strength. And paddock gossip, obviously, rife as always. 99% of it is true. Like,
21:49I'm not just talking, uh, you know, Latte, everybody that's, uh, been sort of linked to a ride so far
21:54this year, it's pretty much been nailed on. But, you know, until it gets officially confirmed,
22:01side-sealed delivered with press PRs and everything else, you know, we're all sworn to secrecy,
22:05uh, right across the board of every rider that is, uh, either in or out of negotiation, let's say.
22:11It's interesting to hear that, uh, on the Ducati, uh, announcement there on Friday night,
22:14that they're... Paolo Ciabatti. Yeah, keeping things going there. Paolo Ciabatti talking about,
22:19like, uh, somebody asked him, why did you announce Roman Febvre so early? And it was like, well,
22:22last year, everybody knew the movements that were happening, but nobody could talk about it.
22:26And he thought that's just a ridiculous situation. Uh, and they announced it straight
22:29away as soon as things were signed. So Paolo Ciabatti coming from MotoGP as well,
22:33and he said in MotoGP, as soon as things are announced, you know, he says everybody in the paddock
22:38seems to know what's going on. So if that's the case, let's give them what they want. Yeah.
22:41Here's the announcement. End of. Stop your speculation. And he said the important thing
22:45of that is also the sponsors, you know, we, we go to the sponsors for the following year and say,
22:49we're looking to sign this rider. Actually, the deal is done, but, um, we can't really announce it
22:54yet until December 31st, you know what I mean? Because, uh, we can't have the other guy in our
22:59shirt and whatever else. So, uh, the sooner you announce it, the sooner everybody moves on,
23:03the rider that's leaving, the rider that's coming in, uh, and the sponsors also are able to, uh,
23:07sort of announce as well. So, and obviously depending on who that rider is coming in,
23:10in this case, Roman Fevre at Ducati, um, then obviously that depends on the amount that comes
23:16in from the sponsor, the type of sponsor that you're going to attract as well. So he's right
23:20to call them out on that as well, because, you know, there's been a couple of moments this year
23:24where there's been some proper fun and games where you just think, come on guys. Yeah.
23:28You know what I mean? It's the same for you as it is the same for that guy. You're only
23:30holding
23:30yourself up and you're holding that guy up as well in your deliberation. So just bring back,
23:35and he said, actually, they do their contracts, uh, after the last race of the season. So if
23:40that's the nations, you know what I mean? Then everyone's free to come and go. Whereas these
23:43contracts that still exist, you know, December 31st really sort of see the point in it, you know,
23:48if that's your end game, because it restricts everybody. Absolutely. It doesn't tie in at all.
23:52And, oh, that was a bit close. And, uh, yeah, I mean, adding to that, what, uh,
23:56was quite interesting to me was he said, well, okay, there are still other brands involved,
23:59but, uh, so Roman might be riding the bike, but it'll literally be clean, black, unmarked,
24:03no sponsors on it, which, that sounds a bit MotoGPS. I'm looking forward to that.
24:07Including helmet sponsors as well, you know what I mean? Because he's maybe got a contract with,
24:10you know, with Monster, for instance, which is, uh, an opposing, uh, energy drink sponsor to the team
24:14there. So, um, yeah. Anyway, Scott Smulders here, he's in 10th place, and the 408 on the 67 racing
24:23team Husqvarna, who got his first qualifying race points of the season yesterday in a 10th place finish,
24:29what a fantastic sort of return to form. He had a really bright start at the pre-season
24:34international races, didn't he? He got a podium at one of the rounds there in Sardinia,
24:38and he's obviously had his fair share of injuries. He's missed some races as the 408, who, uh,
24:44didn't score in France and was missing for what, the next two, three, seven, eight rounds,
24:48something like that, until he made his return in Longwood. Yeah, he told us on behind the gate,
24:52it was the, uh, the spleen injury as well as a broken vertebra or two. So yeah, quite a bad
24:57one,
24:57actually for Scott. It wasn't quite, it was a crash of his own. He landed on his feet absolutely
25:01fine and then got hit by a bike behind him, and that's what caused the injury. So yeah,
25:05a real, really unfortunate for Scott, but he's bounced back again, like you say,
25:08and this is actually the GP he's raced at more than any other because he hasn't done a full year
25:12before now. And, uh, yeah, this is actually his fourth GP here and, uh, a best of 12th so far.
25:16Yeah, and actually, uh, he's had three, uh, two 10th place finishes so far in the season. One of those
25:21was race two in Argentina. The other one was in, uh, Longwood race one. So, uh, currently in 10th place
25:27for the third time, equaling. Meanwhile, this is the battle for the lead with just under five minutes
25:33plus two laps to go. Camden McClellan, has he paced this to perfection? Has he been sitting back there
25:40trying to stay out of the roost of Sasha Coonan? Or is it that Sasha Coonan is just making him
25:44work
25:44very, very hard? And we're coming into the time of race where back markers are going to start coming
25:49thick and fast. Blue flags. You hope the riders that are coming up to be lapped aren't colorblind
25:52because, uh, more often than not, we see that. It might also be a little bit hard of hearing as
25:57well,
25:58you know, because they get caught in their own little world of trying to race the leader,
26:02thinking it's, uh, the battle that they've not been in for the last five weeks because they've
26:06been on their own. No one in front, no one behind them. And McClellan and Coonan now just separated
26:11by 1.3 second, but it is advantage Sasha Coonan. What does that mean in the championship? Well,
26:16with him there picking up the 25 points if he stays there and Ferrer's a little bit, uh, awkward
26:21through there. And Ferrer's in third. That'll be another gain of five points. We'll be down to 20
26:25as we head into race two. So a little bit of, uh, sort of, yeah, back and forth at the
26:30moment with the
26:30points, Chase, between the top two in the championship over the last couple of rounds.
26:34Yeah, getting tasty between these two now. Camden, of course, he still will have an
26:37outside bet in the championship. What are we looking at? 44 points was the gap, uh, for him,
26:41two for Rez. Um, of course, he will definitely want to take advantage of his sand prowess.
26:46After Lommel, you would have thought he'd have gone 1-1-1 dead easy, but this is a different kind
26:49of
26:50sand track. So, yeah, McClellan, though, this is, uh, cam time. This is what he wants to do and, uh,
26:54yeah, get onto, onto Sasha. Can't afford to hang around, though, because, uh, lap times here just
26:59over 1.50, sort of 1.53, 1.52, actually, for these top two riders, respectfully. Uh, 1.53.1,
27:061.52.1 it was. And you can see how that gap is concertina-ing back and forth between the
27:1119 and
27:12the 8. They say it's easier to follow than it is to lead because, obviously, when you've got the guy
27:16chasing you down and applying that pressure, you end up having to ride maybe 11 tenths if you're already
27:22on the limit. And with that extra one sort of tenth comes the, the extra mistake or mistakes. But when
27:29you're sort of locked in and you're following those riders ahead of you, you're already up to speed.
27:33You're reading the track that little bit quicker, that little bit sort of more precise, if you like,
27:38and you're able to react to what's going on ahead of you. And in this case, Camden McClellan has got
27:44himself right on the rear wheel of Sasha Cooner, but this has been fantastic once again for, uh, the little
27:48man. Two wins in Sweden, looking at his third straight win here. And for Sasha Cooner, that'd be
27:56the first time that he's done that this year. I think it will be, if he can go three on
27:59the spin,
28:00when you go from Sweden to here. A couple of mistakes here for McClellan. He'd already made some,
28:05lost some time anyway, and then made another mistake. Is that game over in the outcome of this
28:10race? Because Sasha Cooner goes from 1.1 to 2.8 in the blink of an eye, in the space
28:16of a couple of
28:17corners. And the Red Bull KTM ride, and now this is his race to lose on the number 19. And
28:23in doing
28:23so, he will gain another five points on the championship leader, Guillaume Ferez. Ferez,
28:296.3 seconds down on Camden McClellan. Yeah, no danger from Everett, though, as a Spaniard.
28:34Sasha Cooner's in the line there with about two minutes left on the clock. They're circulating
28:38in about one minute 50 at the moment. So yeah, definitely four laps to go, including the one
28:43there on. So McClellan is going to need every single one of those. No, Xanotz in 11th. He's being lapped,
28:48and Mikula has been down. He's gone, he's facing the wrong way as well. That's out of turn six,
28:52down the back straight, over that single where Langenfelder had that twitch earlier on in the race.
28:57He had 18 seconds over Smolder, so able to recover and get back on track, still in ninth.
29:03Bouncing through that right-hand turn. Sasha Cooner.
29:11Yeah, and that is the pace there. Like you say, they're lapping up to 11th there. Ollie Cooner still
29:14in 12th place. It's a great looking score, but it won't look so great when you're a lap down.
29:20But look, he's catching Smolders. That's amazing. Up into the top 10, they're lapping now.
29:24Yeah, this pace has been relentless between these two guys, hasn't it? You know,
29:28and when you think that Everett, who didn't make the best start, now sort of nearly 24 seconds
29:33of drift in that fourth place. Perez is the only other rider that's really gone with these guys.
29:37Just over nine seconds between him and Sasha Cooner here, the race leader.
29:42Does Camden McClellan have one last push? It will be three laps to go because 30 seconds they hit this
29:46jump here by pit lane. We've only got two corners before they hit the line. It was 2.8,
29:51it's down to 1.5 at the last split, and there's McClellan. Just kind of try. Right, this is a
29:58couple of
29:59of Rechelis found his way past this, the number one of Langenfelder. Langenfelder looks over his
30:05shoulder because Rechelis now back up to sixth place. Oh, just out dragged it.
30:14I'll tell you what, one of two little holes that he didn't need there, and
30:17Sasha Cooner has been responding every time, like how McClellan turned right there halfway down the
30:22straight, caught a hole, a horrible hole. Is he still up? Yes, he is, but there's always a good response
30:26here from the number 19 of Sasha Cooner. McClellan was, uh, what, 1.1 behind, now it's 2.2 again
30:32at the end of sector one, so every time he gets close, Cooner finds another gear.
30:39I thought I saw that. Yeah, Mikula has, uh, was banging elbows there with Camden McClellan,
30:43and had to back off. That's part of the reason maybe why McClellan was moving over down that
30:47straight, but in doing so, Mikula has given way to Smulders, who's gone up to ninth. Could be a career
30:51best for the local boy.
30:55McClellan on board here with the drones. Nice firm jump face there, but then look at the braking
31:00bumps here. You'll see some riders picking up the front wheel, dancing around on the back just to
31:05soak up some of those braking bumps in those zones. Here's McClellan, he's going to double his way through
31:09the commitment through there with the conditions that we have. Honestly, it's difficult to sort of, uh,
31:15explain what the riders have to do there. They're jumping blind around the turn, they're looking for
31:20a near perfect takeoff because that lap, that face is changing every single lap that you come through,
31:26and you can hit it one lap and it'll be perfect and next lap there'll be an edge on it.
31:29So, uh,
31:30the commitment, the trust that you put in your motorcycle and your ability to be able to do that
31:34lap in lap out is absolutely off the scale. We have a game on here. The two lap board is
31:39getting ready
31:40to go out. This is the corner where Cooner fell and he falls again. He fell there in a qualifying
31:45race.
31:46He throws away the lead. And he's, look how he's got the grip, he's an upside down grip on that
31:52clutch lever,
31:53desperate to not store that motorcycle. And Ferez is going to emerge in third, about a second behind
31:59Cooner. That might just spur the Spaniard into life. What's the gap as they hit the line? Those two,
32:04okay, seven seconds. Yeah. He had enough time, but McClellan leads with two to go. And, uh, great to
32:11see the popularity of the South African rider there, the crowd loving every minute of it, getting behind
32:15him. Never mind that he's just passed the Belgian ace for the lead. Obviously passed, he was on the
32:18floor, but they don't know that. And, uh, yeah, to see, uh, the response to Camden is really heartening.
32:23He's a great character, a really nice guy and, uh, thoroughly deserves this. And Sasha Cooner had set
32:29the fastest time in sector two that time around as well. So he was desperate to try and pull back,
32:34but pull away from the number eight. But it was just that simple error again, just like he did in
32:38the qualifying race in that right-hand turn. Drops into the inside here. And again, just too high
32:45in the top of the berm. You see there where the front wheel and the back wheel have collapsed through
32:49it.
32:49Watch here. Yeah. Just at the top there. And there's a hole missing just behind him at the top of
32:54that
32:54berm. That's where he went through the front with the front end. And the problem now is because that
32:59was just before the two lap board and you've been your, your heart rate has been elevated anyway,
33:04because you've picked up the pace. You've got McClellan behind you. You're trying to escape again.
33:09And when you come from sort of a hundred to back down to nothing in that corner there and everything
33:14stops, that's where the rider's mentality really has to kick in because you
33:19have to breathe and you have to sort of shake out the sand and everything else and ignore all of
33:23that.
33:24You've just got to regroup and go again. That's exactly what he's doing here. Sasha Kuhn. And so
33:28a good response, but he should, he should have been in a position to win this race. Having said that,
33:34McClellan was making him work for it. He went to 2.8. He brought it back to next to nothing
33:39in the space
33:39of a lap. And McClellan was definitely looking to be a menace and he was a menace. In the end,
33:44it was his persistence, his pressure that forced the mistake from McClellan, from Cunan.
33:50I was worried about McClellan because he'd lost time in that corner. The two laps before mistakes,
33:55maybe slightly wrong line. So I was worried he was going to lose more time again. And then, yeah,
33:59then suddenly there's a KTM on the inside line. So he was absolutely right not to follow. And yeah,
34:04that's why he's looking at a third straight win in the sand. McClellan into the final lap. He has
34:12been persistent. He was victorious at Lommel two weeks ago, two rounds ago with a 1-1. His first career
34:211-1 to win at the toughest place on the planet. This is maybe not as tough, unbelievably,
34:29if you look at the images, because it's a slightly higher pace racetrack here in Arnhem. Slightly edgier
34:37bumps. A black sand normally quite thick and heavy when it's watered. And you've had persistent rain.
34:45But the conditions that we've got today, a little bit wispy in places, hard and edgy in others. It's not
34:50over. Just try and get through this rhythm section. And now on the final lap, he decides, I don't need
34:56to
34:56take the risk. I've got nothing to gain, everything to lose. He goes single, single through that wave
35:02section. That is the maturity of the number eight in 2026. He takes a look over his shoulder. He would
35:07have had a pit board a lap ago to say, give or take seven seconds. So he knows he's got
35:12time,
35:13takes another look over the shoulder because he's just easing back now. He'll come out of the first
35:17turn. He's got two corners to go between him and the checkered flag. Will he give the team a nice
35:22little heads up? He'll show Maria wheel and looks across, nods his head, says another 25 points in
35:29the bank. Yes, please. I'll take them. And Camden McClellan, triumph racing MX2 factory team,
35:35will cross the line here. Victorious in race one. What a race that was for Camden McClellan.
35:43McClellan now with his fifth race win of the season.
35:48Sasha Coonan limps over the line metaphorically in second position. The wind knocked out of his sails
35:54with that simple little mistake that cost him the race win. Perez will cross the line in third
35:59and that means that it won't be a 20 uh point deficit now that he's up against going into race
36:06two
36:06because he managed to pull uh three points back.
