02:44But a part of it has to feel so bad for his brother.

03:38He just looks so tentative here.
03:39And you just wonder what's going on in the mindset of Jet Lawrence.
03:42It's like he saw Hunter down and now his mind is not really processing the situation at hand.
03:48Yeah, but, you know, when he did go by Hunter at that point,
03:50it would not have been obvious that Hunter had an actual bike problem.
03:54It could be conceivable that Hunter gets up right behind him and it's back up to speed.
03:59I don't know how Jet would know it's not like that.
04:02Yeah, I think, honestly, Jet saw his brother.
04:05And, again, they are family first.
04:07So, emotionally, he's going to feel bad for his brother to be in that situation.
04:11Now, if Hunter was out front and he'd just beat him, he'd be upset.

04:16So, with Jet, I agree with JT.
04:18He's probably trying not to just let, you know, don't get caught up in anything.
04:23But at the same time, emotionally, he's got to have a hard time.
04:25And I love seeing the 96 up.

04:37Well, this is high drama because Jet's not points maxing at the moment.

05:30And I know for sure if he starts closing in, you'll see that riding style change, you know, with Jet.
05:37And I think the good thing for Hunter, it's only five points as they run right now.
05:41So, he might not be able to beat Jet, but at the same time, we know if he goes out
05:46and wins, there's three points.
05:47And, oh, by the way, God, we were just talking about it on the top of the show.
05:51He'll get me in the mix of this thing.

05:55And he'll take it, no doubt.
05:57Jorge Prado pulling away quickly with this late season rally.
06:02The Spaniard on the Red Bull, KTM, the multi-time MXGP champion.
06:07He's been good all season, but he's gone from good to great as of late.

08:49So, once they understand that it is Hunter Lawrence, they will move out of his way, but he's got to

08:56But, yeah, JT, it looks like there is a world where that's possible, and that's just insane to even say.

13:33But, the massive amount of points that he could have gained at Hunter in this juncture is gone.
13:37They would be tied for the point lead right now.
13:40Well, it's obvious he didn't take advantage of the opportunity he had.

16:12And we are not seeing that from Jet Lawrence at the moment.

16:48I cannot see anything wrong with the motorcycle.
16:50All I can see wrong is that Jet Lawrence cannot summon his best self.
16:54And you see Hunter riding off into the distance.
16:56Yeah, and just going back to even say more, when I said earlier, if Jet was letting that happen to
17:02be able to all of a sudden pick up that pace,
17:04it would be hard to do.
17:06Because once you're out of that intensity in front of a jump, you can't just pick it up.
17:10And that's maybe what you're starting to see, these mistakes.
17:13But whatever the case, we haven't seen this all year for number one.
17:18I'd say maybe ever.

17:21He's 14th and not moving forward.
17:24And Hunter has left him behind.

17:45And again, emotionally, I believe at this point, if Jet could do something, you've got to start to think either

18:53But, you know, the thing is, when you're sitting here talking about the championship, as if they finish like this,

19:01And if anybody knows there's two-moto format, anything can happen, it's Hunter Lawrence.
19:05Go back a couple weeks ago where it looked like he had his hand on that championship.
19:10He had the second moto, and then Jet inheres it.
19:12But now you can start to see that pace that Jet's picking up.
19:15Whatever happened, seems like he's figuring it out because now he's still right there with Hunter.
19:20As Beaton basically went off the racetrack to let Jet go through.
19:24They're back.
19:25Three points, and he can start to see them now.
19:28And Jet just ran a 2.16.
19:33It's one of his better laps of the race.

20:30Look, we're obviously puzzled at what has happened with Jet in this moto.
20:34But at the moment, it's a three-point gap.
20:36That is significant.
20:37Let's say everything goes back to normal in the next moto.
20:39And they run up front.
20:41Three points is a difference between a first and a second.
20:43But Hunter has the tiebreaker.
20:45So if this were a normal day, we'd be saying this is so significant.
20:49This three-point lead and the tiebreaker for Hunter.
20:52We don't really know what is about to unfold.
20:56We can't figure out what's going on.
20:57I just saw Deegan go by in 20th place.

21:03This isn't the race we expected at all.

21:34He said he's going to go supercross only with his career.
21:36forward last motocross race in this series.
21:40But he will race motocross at motocross of nations coming up at the beginning of October.

21:49Tondal is now out.
21:50So I think it's going to be a few more positions further forward.
21:52Look at his beat and he's just chilling behind Jett Lawrence right now.

21:58Well, I'm still waiting to see what the message is going to be on Jett next time by.
22:01And I don't have enough evidence to believe that what I learned earlier today on Jett's foot peg could be
22:06explaining what we're seeing from him.
22:07But I did learn that as of yesterday, they had done away with that custom foot peg that we know
22:12was designed to help compensate for his injury.
22:14They switched back to more of a standard foot peg for qualifying, though it was a little bit wider of
22:18a model.
22:19But as of moto one here, he is back on a fully standard foot peg.
22:23Yeah, and I don't want to speculate, but at this moment, you almost got to wonder, did something happen that
22:29first lap?
22:30Did Jett maybe tweak an ankle or something?
22:33Because he actually looks like he's riding hurt.
22:35When he gets in some of these, you know, G outs in the sections, almost looks like he did in
22:39the beginning part of the season where he's kind of favoring one side.
22:42His balance is off in some of these ruts, so when he slams in something, he doesn't look like that
22:46smooth Jett Lawrence, the guy that we've been seeing pretty much the last half, second half of the season.
22:51Definitely struggling, and that would be the only thing that would make sense at this point.
22:59He's sitting down quite a bit.
23:07One of the most prolific starts to a career in this sport.
23:10It's one of the rare bad motos, Haley.
23:13Yeah, Christian Ducharme, his mechanic, let him know last time by when he just passed, how many laps were to
23:18go.
23:18So just letting him know where he's at on the time clock.

23:24More points to the good for Hunter, but it doesn't matter if Jett's riding like this.

23:34Well, just, you know, thinking about that foot peg, yes, they did change back to it.
23:37But don't forget, this guy was winning races long before that modified foot peg was even conceived, right?
23:42Before he even tried it, he was going out at races like Hangtown, High Point, and winning.
23:47So to go from that to this seems like a pretty far jump to make.
23:52We'll certainly find out more.
23:54But it's really hard for me to believe that he would be this far off going back to something that
23:58he has been running early in the season, winning of mine.
24:00It's like every path we try to explore doesn't make sense.
24:04That is Craig who had a good race going.
24:06He is now into the woods and got to get back on track.
24:09But also if the theory is that Jett was just going to let Hunter catch up and then the battle
24:14would begin, that also didn't happen.
24:16I don't know if you, let's say he was saying, I'm just going to let you win it.
24:20Why would you do it this way?
24:22Why not at least battle him a little bit?
24:23No, and that would make it not look so obvious.

24:26Because, again, if he's fine, then I'm telling you, Hunter, out of all this, he would, like you said, punch

25:35You're starting to, Hunter's climbing up in the points, and now you can see it five points.
25:39So Jett wouldn't allow this to happen if he can do anything with him.
25:43You've got Justin Barsha right in front of him, and there's a way Hunter's riding.
25:47Here's the possibility that he might be able to get up to Mr. All-Time, Eli Tomac.
25:53I'm 10 seconds ahead of these guys.
25:57It's Prado over Hampshire, Harrop, Webb, and Plessinger.
26:00So Webb has gone back by Plessinger.
26:02Marchbank 6th, then it's Tomac, Barsha, and then Hunter.
26:07So Hunter's starting to close on Barsha.

26:14I mean, he was about four seconds faster than Barsha that last lap.
26:17Same thing with Eli Tomac.
26:20Just ran his best lap of the race at 2.13.
26:30Also odd how the pace you have when he first got up.

26:35Maybe he tweaked something a little bit.
26:37Did say, you know, the wrist hurt a little bit from that crash at Unadilla.
26:39I don't know if he landed on it.
26:41Maybe needed time to a lap or two to get it sorted.
26:44Now he's back up to his normal race pace.
26:47Didn't look that way early.
26:48Yeah, I think a little bit of both.
26:50Yeah, he's taking inventory, like you said.
26:52But can you imagine the motions that he was going through?

26:55Right now, all right, I'm going to execute the start.

26:59And then to get in the situation that really had nothing to do with him.

27:05I can only imagine how much it took for him to just get back going.

27:12And then once he started realizing that, hey, Jet's not winning this thing.

27:16I think you start to see that belief.
27:18He got back up the pace.
27:20But, man, you talk about the up and downs of motocross in general.
27:26And Jet is in a battle now.
27:28That's your brother Malcolm just put an aggressive move on Mark Finnis.

27:52And he has been a revelation with some of the rides since jumping on that ISRT Kawasaki team.

28:06I mean, pretty much all these guys, they don't want to get in the mix.

28:33In his entire career, is this the worst you've seen him ride?
28:36Because I'm going to go with a solid yes.
28:37And I say that without the entire amount of information or the full picture.
28:41But I cannot remember a time where he has looked like this.
28:43No, it is.
28:44I mean, not even close to see him.
28:46And especially everything that's on the line.
28:48The way he's been riding the last few weeks.
28:50And I'm going to go ahead and dispel any notion that he's giving his title away.
28:56I actually think there's something going on with him.
28:58Like an injury.
28:59Because again, he wouldn't allow this to happen.
29:01And the one person that would be the most disappointed would be Hunter.
29:04I'm just looking by his body language.
29:06See how he's coming into these corners.
29:08He just doesn't look like he's attacking.
29:10So whether it's emotionally or physically, like this isn't Jeff Lawrence.
29:15Now, look.
29:17If he is hurt and ailing, I don't think it's going to be fixed by Moto2.
29:21But if there's some way he can ramp it back up, the points could matter.
29:24And these last couple of moments where they're both making some passes.
29:28Chet just got around Finnis and Stewart.
29:32Hunter just got around Barsha and Jordan Smith.
29:34Those little swings right there.
29:36It's only a four-point lead still.
29:38This would appear to be disaster for Chet.
29:41He's only four points back.
29:44You can see a little slow-mo just kind of taking his foot off.
29:48But, you know, even before that, you can see his body in that corner before the finish line.
29:54Just notice how his balance is off.
29:57And, yeah, we're trying to take a look at what's going on.
30:02It's got to be physical with Chet.
30:04You see that's another mistake at the bottom here.
30:09And for a guy who's been so dominant in this class and makes it perfection to come back from this
30:16injury,
30:16to get all the way back to this point, you just got to know that there's something else going on
30:22because this guy is a champion.
30:24He's out there doing his thing.
30:25And on his worst day, he's a fifth-place guy.
30:28When he's off, he's fifth place.
30:30We saw it at the opening race.
30:31Hasn't raced all year long.
30:32He comes out.
30:33Yeah.
30:34This is a different one.
30:36But at the end of the day, there's two motos.
30:38Like I said earlier, he's only four points back.
30:40And anything can happen in this championship.
30:42What just happened to Hunter this first moto, he goes on to finish this out.
30:46What can happen again in the second moto?
30:47Hunter didn't do anything.
30:48So Jett has to, like you said, continue to fight.
30:51Yeah.
30:51Or if somehow Jett is actually, there's something they can fix or tweak,
30:56and he can go out and win that second moto with Prado there,
31:00you'd make up five points if you win and Hunter finishes third.
31:05For as wild as this moto has been, the points have barely changed at all.
31:09You tell anyone there's a four-point gap going into the last moto of the season,
31:12and it would appear you have a shot at it.
31:14But we just don't know how he's going to be able to perform.
31:18It's a giant question mark.
31:20Yeah.
31:21Well, but if anybody I know is going to give it all,
31:23and they'll go back and continue to work on it.
31:25But, yeah, as you just said, the way they run right now,
31:29Jett wins.
31:29Hunter gets on the podium.
31:31Jett's your champion, so all this could be worth nothing
31:34if they can go back and fix whatever it is.
31:38And I'm sure if it's mentally, Hunter's going to be the one,
31:41probably between the truck, giving Jett a pep talk,
31:44like, hey, you need to, hey, pick it up.
31:47Guess what?
31:47Jett just turned in the fastest lap time of anyone on the track right now.
31:50He just went 2.15.2, and he had a 2.15.1 earlier.
31:54He's actually getting a little bit quicker now.
31:56Back to the leader, Jorge Prado,
31:58who has had fast laps in the motos.
32:01I think for the last five motos,
32:02he's had the fastest lap of the moto.
32:04No doubt he has been trending up since the break,
32:08heading into Unadilla,
32:10and this is just a coronation of what everybody saw.
32:13The riding has improved, and now the result is going to show it.
32:15Yeah, Jorge, like I said, he's looked great all day long.
32:19He's looked great the past couple weekends.
32:22Since at Unadilla, we took that break.
32:24And whether it was the time in between that break or some bike changes,
32:27he looks like the guy that I thought coming into the season is showing
32:31and looking good.
32:33And shout out to R.J. Hampshire running second, quiet, second place.
32:40Harrop in third.
32:41He's got to deal with Mr. Cooper Webb.
32:47Premier best for the top three here in pro motocross.
32:50Prado, Hampshire, Harrop.
32:51But one other thing to watch,
32:53if Jett can make two more passes,
32:55if he can somehow get to Smith and Barsha,
32:57it's only two to go, though.
32:58Not a lot of time.
32:59That would be the difference,

33:02and then if he won moto two,
33:04he'd win the title no matter what Hunter does.

33:10Got Hampshire here running strong in second.
33:11Tomac, another solid performance in seventh,
33:16and Barsha in ninth.
33:21I don't know if Jett's going to be able to get there, though.
33:23He ran the 2.15s, then he did a 2.17.
33:26This is Harrop looking for a moto podium.
33:30He will be racing the playoffs, by the way.

33:34Yeah, and this would be his first moto podium in pro motocross.
33:38His season best was a P5 in moto two at Bud's Creek just last weekend.
33:42This guy who has been instrumental in building the program over at Triumph.
33:46Yeah, and he's going to be going back to the GPs next year
33:49as Triumph unveils their 450 program there for the first time.
33:52It has been great to have him.
33:54Excellent on the 250 last year.
33:56Excellent on the 450 this year.
33:58He's ninth in points,
33:59and such a friendly guy to talk to.
34:01And he's enjoyed his time here.
34:02He said he's actually,
34:03a lot of people are going to be happy to go back home to Europe,
34:06but he's like, honestly, I've had a great time here.
34:10Yeah, it's going to be harder to go home if you end up on this podium right now.
34:13But one pass that we have to keep our own is Hunter Lawrence and Eli Tomac.
34:18Oh, this is big.
34:19Yeah, actually Hunter was a lot closer,
34:21but he got caught up with these lappers.
34:22I saw it happen right in front,
34:24and again, it just happened out to the mechanics there.
34:25So it would be a big pass for Hunter Lawrence going back to your point.
34:28And if it's five, then that third place, it's okay.
34:32Then he ties, and then it beats.
34:33So we'll see if he's able to close down on Eli,
34:37who's riding really good.
34:38Both these guys are doing their thing,
34:41but Hunter Lawrence kind of, I wouldn't say a must pass,
34:43but he would like this pass to get around the champ, Eli.
34:46Back to Prado.
34:47He's headed for pay dirt.
34:48As far as Tomac, we mentioned at the top of the moto,
34:50it's expected that this will be his final pro motocross race.
34:53We don't really know.
34:54There are some thoughts that he might race Supercross only next year.
34:58Nothing has been said officially.
34:59If he does come back for the full tour, then it's not.
35:02He will be back.
35:03Tomac definitely racing the SMX playoff rounds.
35:05We asked him about that yesterday.
35:07He's already been doing some training for that.
35:09And Prado is going to be a force in the playoffs as well
35:12because he was pretty sporty in Supercross.
35:15Also, you give him the hybrid track and his starts.
35:19He could be a player.
35:21He doesn't care what anybody else has going on title-wise.
35:23He's focused on himself.
35:25He never gave up.
35:26He kept getting better.
35:28And here's the payoff.
