08:39they come in week in, week out anyway, so it really is one of those types of weekends
08:46right up there with Longwell in terms of its excitement, its anticipation
08:50and this battle here between DeWolf and Hurlings,
08:55Is it going to go all the way to the wire, or is it going to be over sooner rather
08:59than later?
09:01Hurlings, this time, does double through, that's going to keep him on the rear wheel of Keider Wolf
09:07and this is the kind of challenge, so when you think of, and I don't like bringing it up,
09:11you know, there have been the obvious two DNFs, technical DNFs for Jeffrey Hurlings
09:15because of how he was having to ride the bike, hard riding apparently and everything else
09:19and so there were some issues
09:21there were concerns about Arnhem because of how he rides the bike
09:24and obviously he's having to override that because somebody's taken the fight to him
09:28DeWolf is keeping Hurlings honest around here
09:32he knows how to get through this turn and keep the 84 behind him
09:36and he'll do the same here at the end of lap 5
09:39but is it only a matter of time before Hurlings finds his way through
09:42he's going to go outside, inside, through here, absolutely on the ragged edge
09:48DeWolf manages to hold on just for now
09:52but will there be concern on the faces of the Honda crew
09:55basically on the fact that he's having to ride like this
09:58there's going to be a lot of clutch
10:00he's getting a lot of roost off the motorcycle as well
10:03you know it's it's is it I don't know I hope not
10:06no no absolutely like I say I don't want to bring it up
10:09but it's just one of those things that was a concern
10:11yeah a couple of rounds ago and a couple rounds before that
10:14fingers crossed we get this all the way to the finish

10:22because just the way they dance into the I think this is corner coming up here
10:25just as they work their way around this weird hammerhead section
10:28into this corner what's them here they both just dance the bikes in
10:31look at that just there oh just beautiful the way they do that it's so hard to do
10:38Watson up to eighth now he's coming through because Fernandes has dropped down the order
10:42you remember Fernandes hasn't gone through sector two he's out of the race by the looks of it
10:46so Honda HRC Patronus dropping right back and that will cost him big time
10:49in his battle with the Damo for fifth in the series
10:51at the second split it was down to nine tenths of a second we're approaching the third intermediate sector
10:57as we get out of this right hand turn and drop down into this left right we will get an

11:02is it still nine tenths is it Eck it's down to six six tenths on his hurlings now he charges
11:08he knows he's got to take the line away he can't quite muster it up but you know what that
11:13is a rehearsal
11:14right there he never went to stage school to rehearse that this is all instinct
11:21and DeWolf he has not flinched once no he's holding his nerve brilliantly Paul like you
11:26say he's not even look at this he should have taken up a career in speedway you know what he
11:30just caught a thick burn there that was the only thing that either prevented him from making a pass
11:35or prevented there being a heap of scrap metal to the tune of about a hundred grand in that
11:41minimum the big blast around the outside paying off for DeWolf and already lapping traffic this was the
11:46rider went down in the first corner van week i think it is as i pronounce it maybe but uh
11:50yeah
11:51already catching traffic i want to see it there so where we had that camera we saw them charging
11:55down the opposite straight the braking zone into that uh sort of takeoff we'll probably get in the
12:00next lap but uh kind of wolf down there he saw the bike moving around as he was full throttle
12:05instead of
12:06on the brakes in that braking zone and just the chatter on that motorcycle right we're in amongst traffic here
12:18and again hurlings seven laps well six laps completed we're on seven lap lap seven now still hasn't found
12:26a way to unlock Kaida wolf here we had Dave Strijbos on our studio show the first world champion from
12:34the
12:34netherlands 40 years ago 1986 he was on our studio show on saturday and uh i was going to ask
12:41him
12:41who's your money on this one or that one but after he'd seen the qualifying race he said i think
12:46i've
12:46enough i've seen enough i know where it's going to go uh kai's racing for second that type of thing

12:51know what i mean because at the end of the qualifying race jeffrey put in the lap like three seconds
12:54quicker
12:54than anybody else and um you know obviously he was joking but the sentiment is that jeffrey was maybe the
13:03the expectation is that jeffrey was maybe more than likely going to run away with this grand prix he
13:07might go on and get two race wins yeah but at the moment as we approach lap six uh uh
13:14lap seven done
13:15and we move into lap eight he still hasn't found his way into the lead this is not a foregone
13:19conclusion
13:20not by any stretch of the imagination that astana spana of kaida wolf has kind of kept hurlings in his
13:27box at the moment a rider who is going for his 230th race win in this first race if he
13:34pulls it off
13:35i mean just think about that for a moment most people don't get 230 races
13:39and think of the ones that he's lost yeah well this is it isn't it it's the crazy career of
13:43jeffrey
13:44hurlings and it's it's again giving us another chapter here the uh the rider who he once told
13:49in the practice session that uh by the time you get to mxgp kaida wolf i'll be off in the
13:53desert
13:54somewhere on a beach but uh as it is this is the beach they're playing in and uh we're all
13:57enjoying
13:58it get the popcorn out guys this is not over uh maxime renault though looks like he's dropped down
14:02the race pull is down to uh well he's dropping down the order hasn't uh finished uh lap six
14:07so uh big issues there for renault lap seven sorry he hasn't finished you like popcorn don't you
14:12you mentioned that twice in the last two minutes i just want to sit here and eat it
14:17this is like a movie it's epic stuff it can be arranged look at the difference there there between
14:21the two sound riders that we've seen going through that corner and vial and geyser still
14:25world-class fast but unbelievably different to how the dutchmen are going to be our 149 geyser 49
14:31last time around to wolf he put his best lap in on a 146.2 hurlings was a 146.7

14:38though was a 145.6 gifting is down and he looks winded bite reps its mechanical nuts off on the
14:45floor as well so
14:46uh uh isaac does not need that and he just moved up to 15th actually so not the way he
14:52wanted this uh
14:53uh arnhem gp to sort of go in the first race fevere recovering to 14th now from that uh first

15:40temperature indicator so maybe he's getting that again paul maybe that's what's causing him to back
15:44off slightly and not press press press to try and pass kai kai hoover that's the one i can never
15:50pronounce it yeah yeah yeah we were based only a few minutes from there when we were here and we're
15:55in over here yeah deep deep sand yeah anyway tom biel this is fantastic for him in third place
16:02tim geyser still trying to find his way through in fourth another man on the move after falling
16:05at turn one in fact both riders falling at turn one bonacorsi and roman fevre these two at the
16:11moment fevre 13 bonacorsi 14 that's what it was but bonacorsi finding his way past the defending
16:17champion on the red bull ducati 132. passing agra here's in the process as well here's was 12th until that
16:24point yeah the mrt racing beta who didn't finish the qualifying time practice yesterday
16:31getting passed there by bonacorsi bonacorsi just getting his head down here isn't he and just
16:35running away with it here was 19th the uh top rider to be lapped yesterday
16:43shame for the former mx2 challenger winner here as well well it's a winner in the netherlands at least
16:56but we are back with the leaders hurling's clearly taking a breather then was he before
17:02leading us all into a false sense of security even the race leader
17:06because he has got dwarf right there it was nine tenths as he hit the line a moment ago so
17:11considering
17:12it's come down from 2.2 seconds sector 2 sector 3 last time around fastest of the race for the
17:17bullet
17:19and uh his lap time last time around was a 46.8 compared to a 48.07 of dwarf so
17:27that gap now coming
17:27down to 1.4 has gone back out to 1.4 in the last sector but as we said this
17:33is not straightforward but
17:34to see this here these two right it's one of those situations as we watch roman favre pass iago hit
17:42and move up into 13th place right in this racetrack at this kind of speed this kind of physicality
17:48the concentration has to be absolutely a hundred percent and these two are riding around this
17:56racetrack like it's a different racetrack to everybody else such as their experience and knowledge
18:00of these sandy conditions and it really is a sight to behold how they just make it look so easy

18:05wolf just languishing and drifting his way through those turns bouncing off berms his tall rangy frame
18:10making it so exceptionally easy and then you've got the bullet the brutish force of the number 84
18:16trying to muscle his way around everything but just coming up second best at the moment
18:22fascinating contest between these two yeah absolutely stunning across the stanley's
18:26fan factory racing will be nervous as well they have yet to win a gp this year in either class
18:30and you wouldn't have said that at the start of the year that we were talking about no wins yet
18:34for
18:34that squad uh on round 16 but uh to wolf has obviously had his injury issues liam everest hasn't
18:39quite been able to produce his best either so yeah they'll be nervous but they'll be uh really enjoying
18:44this at the moment tombiel still hanging on to that third place at the moment started the weekend
18:49seventh overall in the championship last time he got third well he's had a couple of them in the last
18:53couple of rounds he got a a third in race two in lommel a third in race one in sweden
18:57so the honda hrc
18:59rider patronus rider doing a great job of keeping former winner around here tim geisser at bay yeah
19:05absolutely and uh the good thing for uh vr there as well as with fernandez dropping out he now moves
19:09to just 10 points behind the spaniard in a battle for sixth in the series and adamo pulls clear as
19:14well
19:14so adamo putting in a decent ride on the quiet fifth place for him just a couple of seconds ahead
19:19of
19:19glenn coldenhoff and ben watson has now got passed from about the most like into seventh season's best
19:24for uh b-dub at the moment then ben watson and it was nice and relaxed in our studio show
19:30yesterday
19:30here on the in the circuit mickey levetti there keeping a watching brief on the 243 because obviously
19:38max and renault out on lap six we are now currently on lap 11 that was nice there from guy

19:44improv just uh using the top the highest point there just to find a landing zone one of those
19:49braking bumps to the side of that let's not forget he split the two dutchmen in time practice so
19:54certainly the best of the rest in terms of what the stopwatch said but at the moment he's got that
19:58frenchman in the way yeah in 10 minutes plus two laps to go actually normally a race like this flies
20:04by but
20:05even though with the excitement of what's going on at the head of the field between de wolfe and hurlings
20:09we've still got 10 minutes of this to run plus two laps those lap times coming down 146 for de
20:14wolfe
20:15that time around he was fastest in sector one 48 four for hurlings on lap 10 and de wolfe just
20:21pops
20:22in the fastest lap of the race rather nonchalantly 145 five two tenths quicker than jeffrey hurlings
20:28extends his gap at the head of the field to 2.7 seconds and jeffrey hurlings sitting there scratching
20:33in his head and you know what there was a lot of uh bench racing chitter chatter on social media
20:40during
20:41mxgp race two after that race in lomel yeah when i had uh stefan evitzen as my guest yes and
20:47uh he
20:48mentioned that and you've got to get the context right you know jeffrey hurlings is so strong
20:54mentally because you don't do what he's done over his career without being strong but he's also quite
21:00weak in the head and obviously this is him talking to him about a 15 year old 17 18 19
21:05year old kid
21:06when he worked with him at ktm and all he meant why that was and this is where the misinterpretation
21:10was uh because he rides every day he needs a self-validation you know in his head to know that
21:15he's not left any stone unturned he needs to set the pace in every session which is why he's been
21:20fastest in free practice time practice won the quality races won all the races in the last uh four rounds
21:26won one over the last few races you know going back to gb um that's for his own mental psyche
21:32now when you put that into context what the wolf is doing to jeffrey hurlings here that is kind of
21:38maybe tapping into that uh psyche of what hurt what uh stefan evitz means where maybe there's a frailty
21:45there if he doesn't get his way in the first couple laps and he comes back again a couple laps
21:49later
21:49and there's still no way through because maybe he's met his match here in this first race not saying it's
21:55over because he's got the gap back down to 1.4 but maybe and i understand where evitz is coming
22:00from and where he was coming from yeah you know um so it makes more sense when you look at
22:04it like
22:05that he's come up against the brick wall in the form of uh kai de wolf here in this first
22:09race
22:09and that gap as they hit the line now is still hovering at 1.4 seconds yeah he's having to
22:14go back
22:15and back and back to the drawing board on a constant level he's made another push and he's almost like
22:19he's got to prove himself to himself isn't it constantly asking himself a question he's very
22:23questioning on everything i mean i've seen him talk to his goggle prep guys i've seen him talk to his
22:27some of his kit suppliers talking to uh even dealing with him on a level of signing things for uh
22:32for
22:32for everything that we do yeah he questions everything including himself and uh right now
22:37he's going to ask some questions of kai down the back straight as we came out of that right hand
22:43turn
22:44a moment ago we were down to four tenths of a second and hurlings has gone back to the drawing
22:49board he was down on the gears there as he hit the dragons back he's up on the back wheel
22:53dancing
22:53through into this left-hand turn there is nothing in it now between de wolf and hurlings is he now
22:59going to strike this is absolutely electric trackside we can hear everything through our head
23:04say as you can at home goosebumps on the arms right to the inside he has to go for the
23:10jugular he comes
23:11up short loses drive another let off for de wolf we've still got seven minutes plus two laps to go
23:17here and what i hope is you know de wolf can sustain this for the whole race and i hope
23:23hurlings can
23:23sustain this for the whole race i'm sure he can but if hurlings finds his way by i don't want
23:28to walk just to go okay yeah throwing the towel look how close that is there if you've got a
23:34shot
23:34of that please put it in and uh and uh while that's going on guys who's got past vl there
23:41he's up to
23:41third place now and put a couple of seconds on the frenchman so geyser as we said best to the
23:46rest of
23:46the stopwatch and now he is in this race as well watson is troubling coldenhoff as well only a second
23:51between those two veterans yeah he came up on screen a moment ago while we were mid-chat about something
23:56else but uh coldenhoff in sixth place is not you know that's not too shabby is it you know he's
24:01uh
24:02he's come here he's answered the call he's wanted to go off on a nice high in his home grand
24:07prix his
24:07last ever mxgp won't be back for anymore anywhere else not even here this time next year look at
24:13hurlings they're just launching into a blip that shot there is absolutely fantastic these two in the
24:18breaking zone getting quicker rather than slowing down here comes hurlings again having another jab a
24:23little left hook here and there a little jab here and there it is toe-to-toe stuff between these
24:28two
24:29how much more has the wolf got left in the tank he wanted to come here hold himself accountable
24:34well i'll tell you what he's put himself definitely right there at the top of everybody's uh
24:39expectations in terms of what they expected him to do but can he sustain it for another five and a
24:44half minutes plus two laps and let's not forget he's been dealing with injuries all through the year
24:48he's wrenched a thumb before sweden i mean hurlings in the meantime is at the top of his game incredible
24:52fight from de wolf don't leave the door open here kai de wolf you've seen a flash of red fender
24:58on more than one occasion he drifts to the outside hurlings stays to the inside
25:01and he finds his way through hurlings leads on lap 14
25:08and has that broken the resolve i think it has of kai de wolf hurlings flies by de wolf now
25:16licking his wounds
25:21what a performance this has been never say never never give up this is why
25:26he was 120 points clear in the championship heading into race one today
25:32yes boy
25:35and right now that gap would go out to 135 if it stays like this so
25:40looking good there to seal things up for the championship in turkey but let's not wish our
25:46lives away yet because this is still a stunning performance from hurlings here he comes now then
25:51is he seeing the christmas tree is that bike complaining that is perhaps the remaining question
25:56with just under five minutes plus two laps to go that there just have a free jump from that bump
26:02and then just dancing around the speed in which he's hitting this racetrack now with those ruts those
26:07bumps his mind is working absolutely laser sharp so too is kai de wolf he's only been dropped by 1
26:16.9
26:16seconds i think it kind of caught him by surprise actually he wasn't able to do what he normally does
26:21at the end of this not this straight but the wave section yeah where he was doubling through the
26:24corner hurlings just got better drive up the inside and was able to sort of squeeze him and close him
26:29out he got over the double and de wolf wasn't able to and that cost him time immediately yeah one
26:34of
26:34those in it as soon as you back off through that section you're losing acres of time you don't just
26:38lose a tiny tenth or two you lose about a second and a half maybe and here's the story of
26:44their race
26:44so far it's been absolutely electrifying between these two de wolf leading the way hurlings this is
26:50probably about the third or fourth maybe the eleventh opportunity he had to find his way
26:55through didn't make it there but this one here he just went you know what i've got to try something
26:59different it was a smoother exit point here they were bar to bar there but then he got the the
27:04drive
27:04and he was able to open up this turn launch his way through but it was absolutely sublime
27:10he knew it was coming it was just a matter of when it was coming and that was the answer
27:16right there
27:23split down the middle completely some loving it some not
27:26upon a course he fighting with jager here it's here as hurlings just casually laps them both
27:30and they are 13th and 14th in the race with just under three minutes to go
27:36and hurlings now two and a half seconds clear of kai de wolf this is now his race to lose
27:41here in arnhem victory number 230 is there waiting
27:51this is hurlings at his very very best you know there's been talk about will we ever see him
27:56at his 2018 level ever again i think he's answered all of that the only thing missing out of this
28:02was
28:02an unformed lucas coonan you know he had 13 race wins and even when jeffrey hurlings you know you
28:08think of where he's at at the moment jeffrey hurlings with his race wins he's only got 14 you know
28:13in this
28:13season yeah he's just gone past lucas yeah and you look at he's only just passed him by one race
28:18yeah
28:18and so at the start of the you know the start of the year when everything was all new new
28:23team bike
28:23everything else but what it has done it's kind of justified where he's at right now with the work the
28:28hard work the commitment not just from him you know it's probably been a right pain in the back side
28:32to the team i want he's been demanding you don't get what he has done without being demanding stefan
28:38everts was the same cairoli was the same yeah you know donnie schmidt who ended up with two world
28:42titles was exactly the same you know they're hard drivers of uh you know they want perfection and
28:47that's it you know if i'm giving it i need you to give it back to me yeah we saw
28:51how how uh how almost
28:53dejected after a perfect weekend at normal jeffrey looked probably had those issues in the second
28:57race he came in 120 grand prix wins yeah great but the bike was nearly blown up so you know
29:02he's not
29:03obviously nearly blown up but yeah the bike was protesting and uh yeah that was something he was
29:07concerned about probably because he could see this coming the battle from the wolf he knew that the
29:11bike would have a severe test here as well and when we talk about dominance as well early on in
29:15the
29:15championship before lucas koona let's say um before he disappeared from the championship battle
29:22even coming into this weekend he'd still led 40 laps more than jeffrey hurlings yeah you know
29:26that tells you we need to know that's why the 13 race wins were in there yeah and he's not
29:31done
29:31anything since um you know before south africa was the last one in south africa where he last led a
29:37race yeah this is nice from ben watson in seventh place looking at uh wow this would be a best
29:41for a
29:41long long time after flipping through the record books to see uh the last time he was in a top
29:45six race
29:46finish but right now with half a minute so where are we the last three laps then yeah he's got
29:50a chance to
29:51get up there by passing dear old glenn yeah he's right there isn't he 1.4 seconds it was very
29:57relaxed on our studio show yesterday as well there was him dave strivos and glenn coldenoff also glenn
30:03coldenoff we had a nice little video tribute to some of his grand prix victories and we talked about
30:07them and you know mostly about the highs and that kind of thing and the journey just to get there
30:11and
30:11what he expected from this weekend and he just said he wanted to enjoy it it's very difficult to enjoy
30:15your home grand prix when you are a part of that 20 round series 19 round series in 2026 but
30:22um you
30:23know right look at this this is hurlings lapping roman fevre who is second in the championship if that
30:30is not destructive i have no idea what is and uh you can argue it was down on the deck
30:35at turn one
30:36but with three laps to go just over two laps to go that is a demoralizing sight for the defending
30:42champion the reigning champion who is second in the points gap at the moment hurlings has just lapped
