03:00Fernandez goes wide and thought about nipping up the inside, had to kind of pull out of that challenge.

03:09But Hurlings has disappeared the other end of the straight already.
03:14The Hoff just ahead of these two off the rear of the shot, the 70 and the 1.
03:19And playing his trade in Brazil at the moment, Glenn Coldenoff.
03:22We'll probably discuss that at some point tomorrow as well.
03:24But just a handful of points away from potentially taking that.
03:27He's second in the championship at the moment.
03:29But coming home here, he's on our studio show earlier.

03:38Just hope to enjoy it, you know, because I never really had the opportunity to do that when you're in

03:42Anyway, let's go and take a look at the replay of the start and see what happens.

03:51So Gifting.
03:53Seen riders go down there over the course of the day.
03:56Here's Hurlings as he rounds out the first turn over the foxhole shot line.

04:02The orange rider about two, three gates over.
04:05DeWolf, he gets squeezed here.

04:08And as we exit the first turn here,

04:34DeWolf here now, look, just catches the bike.
04:36And he tips over as well.
04:38So, inadvertently going down.
04:42Thomas from Neil, the look of the Belgian there down at the back as well.
04:45But, yeah, nightmare for DeWolf, but already recovering up to 15th place.
04:51Right, Hurlings now 4.8 seconds clear.
04:54Can just manage this situation.
04:56In this qualifying race, doesn't need to sort of bust a gut, if you like.
05:01Doesn't need to win by a week.
05:03Those MX2 days of wanting to lap everybody, even in a three-lap race, well and truly behind him.
05:09There's Vellandran going through, there's the 24 of Haugmo and here is the 74 of Kai DeWolf in 14th place.
05:17And the Starnhuswana rider.
05:21Got a couple of riders right there ahead of him.
05:23But this has been a decent effort already from, what, 32nd place to 14th in the space of those two
05:29laps.
05:29And it's not like we've got to do a full lap, finish line to finish line.
05:33Get through the first two or three corners and then all of a sudden the finish line is there.
05:36So it's a proper kind of reflective view of what two laps is like on this racetrack to get there
05:42from last to, where is he, 14th, fans on this side of the circuit.
05:48Haugmo comes up short.
05:51He's still there in that 13th, but not for much longer, you feel, because a little bit of improvisation as
05:59he's working his way through the track and through traffic.
06:02Kai DeWolf, he knows where you can pass or where you can't pass on this racetrack now anyway.
06:05Ahead of the races on Sunday.
06:07Rails the outside, looking for that slingshot.
06:10He's going to jump long here.

06:30Never actually won a qualifying race here in MX2 as DeWolf just blows by Vlandrin pretty much through that dancing

06:36How about Roman van der Mosdijk there?
06:38Third place and Glenn Coltenhoff.
06:39Definitely not two GP regulars there, but great results for the two local boys.
06:44And yeah, Fairfair trying to catch in and limit the points damage.
06:47120 is the magic number for Hurlings to clinch the title after Turkey.
06:51And that's what he's building towards now.
06:53Geiser sweeps around the outside of his old teammate.
06:55Number 70, Ruben Fernandes.
06:57Up the end of the straight there, turn eight.
06:59As he goes after Roman Fevre.

07:13But what a ride this is from the Hoff.

07:17He's got a new sponsor here this weekend in the form of Tim Matase.
07:22Standing Construct, who was the team he wrote for when he won his first MX2 Grand Prix at Mattelie Basin
07:27in 2013.
07:27He got a Grand Prix with him as well when he was on the KTMs in 2019, when he finished
07:34third in the championship.
07:35And he kind of paid a bit of a tribute to Tim Matase and Standing Construct during our little thing.
07:40Just saying, yeah, it's nice to sort of have that, you know, for MX2 and then MXGP.
07:43Nice that he's back on board just for this one weekend only.
07:47You know, he's always had, I think, a soft spot for Glenn.
07:50And I think it works both ways for the two of them.
07:52You know, they've done a lot for each other, I think it's fair to say.
07:55Yeah, he said it was very sweet to wear the Standing Construct brand on his shirt again one last time
07:59here.
07:59So great to see it.
08:00And he's working on Van der Moosdijk as well.
08:02That on the third is well and truly on as they go to this left-right section.
08:06Yeah, Glenn Koldenov here, 259 on the GCR machine.
08:10He has got Roman de Moosdijk right there.
08:12What a ride this is for Van der Moosdijk though.
08:14In that third position, his last Grand Prix of the season.
08:16Of course, he won't be in Turkey at around, well, two weekends from now.
08:23So he wants to hold himself accountable.
08:26And Roman de Moosdijk, who is just enjoying this Grand Prix as much as he can, is 19th in the
08:34championship at the moment.
08:35What is he? 42 down on Watson.
08:37Hasn't done the whole series, of course.
08:40Geisse here, just behind him, looking to size up the one of Roman Fevre as we keep an eye on
08:46what's going on at the top of the screen as well.
08:47Here comes Geisse.
08:48He has to sort of back it off because Fevre was going to jump from mid to right there at
08:53the end of the straight.
08:54And then just behind them, we've got Villal and Bonacorsi.
08:57Good ride this for Bonacorsi on the Red Bull Ducati in ninth place.
09:01Ben Watson in 10th at the moment.
09:04And the 9.19 has only scored on a couple of occasions.
09:07In fact, only on one occasion.
09:08That was his first round, round two in Andalusia, where he was ninth.
09:12That's where his two world championship points have come from for Ben Watson.
09:17Right, the Hoff.
09:18He'll come back to the inside.
09:19But you know what, Roman van der Mostyke, he would have read that well, but not well enough because the
09:24Hoff goes through Hoffmeister.

09:34Van der Mostyke, his best qualifying race here is eighth back in the MX2 days in 2023.
09:37So this is nosebleed territory for the Dutchman.
09:40Wasn't so much Pass the Dutchie on the left-hand side.
09:42It was Pass the Dutchie on the inside, wasn't it, for Glenn Koldenhoff.
09:47Here comes Geisse.
09:47Oh, I'll tell you what, that was close between him and Fevra.
09:51These two fighting over fifth place as Fevra just getting held up behind Manamostyke here.
09:56He'll follow the Dutchman in.
09:57Geisse will go outside, inside.
10:00They're going to be bar to bar, and he does find his way past Fevra.

10:14Good ride this from Geisse, as he moves up in the fifth place.

10:22We had a massive torrential rain shower here yesterday, and another one this morning.
10:25So it's not been without a spot of moisture here, as Geisse worked on him.

10:33Just looked like he may have left the door open ever so slightly there, but there was no way through.

10:38Oh, he had to jump long.
10:40Tell you what, Hoje, as he came in to land there, as he found his way past Vandermeer Osteig, goes
10:46after the Hoth.
10:47Hoth on a very much privateer stock Yamaha this weekend against the factory machine of Geisse.
10:53Geisse would be very keen to find his way past the Dutchman around here.
10:56And another Dutchman, Kai DeWolf, into the top ten now, into the points for Kai on the Husband.
11:02He's closing in on Bonacorsi as well.
11:04In fact, he's in shot.
11:05He's right at the back here, Paul.
11:06Fevra gets alongside Venermosteich.
11:10As he follows Geisse through.
11:12Geisse fourth, Fevra into fifth.
11:15Venermosteich down into sixth place.
11:17And Fernandes carves his way up the inside of the 39 as well.
11:21A ruthless bit of riding from the 2-4-3, the 1 and the 17.
11:26Almost catching the 39 in a state of shock there, Roman Amosteich.
11:31Yeah, this is what the top ten feels like, in case you didn't know.
11:34And they all punish him now.
11:35But yeah, DeWolf is just at the back of the shot here, in the top ten already.
11:38Closing on Bonacorsi, Vial there, all within sight.
11:44Here he comes.
11:45Vial looking to go past Venermosteich here as well.
11:47Venermosteich looks across and say, you know what, you're probably going to pass me anyway.
11:51You may as well have it.
11:52I'm just here for the ride to enjoy the weekend.
11:55There's Bonacorsi going through.
11:56And here comes Kaida Wolf as well, in orange.
11:58You can't miss him.
12:03What a frantic battle here.
12:05And it just goes to show how much of a leveller this racetrack or any kind of sand track is.
12:09You know, it's not Lommel in terms of how deep it is or Leroy, but it's got that good base.
12:13Vial getting around the outside of Bonacorsi at the end of the straight there.
12:17Oh, he holds on to that eighth place, I should say.
12:20As Bonacorsi looks to try and find his way by.
12:23DeWolf does find his way around the outside of the Ducati, though.
12:26He moves into eight.

12:30Well, DeWolf will be rubbing his hands there going, we've still got 7.50 left on the clock, plus two
12:35laps.
12:37Just didn't even give any notification.
12:39He was coming there, the Italian completely blindsided by DeWolf's ride.
12:42But DeWolf a slight mistake in that corner just there, losing a little bit of ground on Vial,
12:46but he will make that up quickly as he has been on everybody around this track.
12:50Right, some guys in blue.
12:52Montserratis Yamaha, Roman Favre, Kawasaki Racing Team.
12:54Then you've got the two Honda HRC Petronas machines.
12:58Then the Nastanas Vanda is very quick through that rhythm section as he doubles his way out,
13:03carries that momentum.
13:05The Alba will hold an inside line.
13:06DeWolf will cut back to his inside.
13:09Can't find a way through.
13:11I just like how they're hitting that hole, free jump in, landing on the downside of that step down.
13:17As this circuit is kind of broken down.
13:20Good drive, this time it pays off.
13:21Couldn't work on Horgmo, but he gets past the factory Honda at Vial.
13:27He'll go the long way around here, but Vial has already said,
13:30OK, you take it.
13:32And DeWolf now up in the seventh.
13:35I was so looking forward to seeing what DeWolf could do on a 450 round here.
13:38I made a beeline for the end of that wave section in free practice.
13:41Just wanted to see how good he could wrestle this thing through there.
13:44And it's a joy to watch him dance them through here.
13:46Fight for third between Koldenov and Geisse.
13:50As we are, what, six and a half minutes plus two laps to go.
13:53As we said, a great ride this for the Hof.
13:56Hanging on to that third, his first race of the season.
13:59Not showing any signs of kind of any arm pump or anything like that, you know.
14:03So his program that he does have as he races in Brazil, clearly working.
14:11I'm sure he's had enough time to prepare for this race as well.
14:16Not short of riding any sand tracks in this part of the world, is he?
14:18Now he's back between his Brazilian sort of stint, if you like.
14:25Yes, he's 23rd GP on home ground.
14:28So Glenn, certainly no strange.
14:29He's won two qualifying races in the Netherlands.
14:32Once in each class.
14:33Once in 2013 and once in 2015, but never here.
14:38Tell you what, you've got to work so hard to stray straight.
14:41Look at DeWolf finding his way past Fernandes.
14:47DeWolf now up in the sixth.
14:49Off the floor in turn one, don't forget, which was 32nd position.
14:57Next rider or riders in his line of sight.
15:01The one of Fevre, Geisse and Koldenhoff.
15:06Meanwhile, Hurlings, just 20.5 seconds clear at the head of the field.
15:11Of Andrea Adama at the moment, with still five minutes to go.

15:17And in comparison, Jonas, who was also down on that first lap,
15:20on that first corner there, 18th at the moment.
15:22So that's the sort of charge that DeWolf's put on
15:24compared to one of the other top world champions in this class.
15:27And riding with a slight thumb tweak as well, actually.

15:30So let's not forget, on the right side.
15:32Did the practice starts without it?
15:33I was talking to him this morning,
15:34and he wasn't sure if he was going to ride with a brace or not.
15:37He said, the problem is, if I don't ride it with the brace,
15:39then I'm going to tweak it, then it sets me back even further.
15:41So, anyway, down the back straight.
15:43Roman Fevre is going to get out-jumped here.
15:46Senses a danger.
15:47He cuts to the outside.
15:48DeWolf tried to, and he does muscle his way up the inside.
15:51Bar-to-bar drag race to the jump.
15:54DeWolf jumps along and finds his way past.
15:58Roman Fevre moves up into fifth place.
16:01Great scrap, and Geiser is immediately in his crosshairs straight for him,
16:05and that traffic, though, is going to stop him going around that side here, I think.
16:09Yeah, you don't need traffic at this stage of the race
16:12when you've got DeWolf behind you.
16:15But Tim Geiser, definitely, you know what,
16:17when you're pushing this kind of pace,
16:18it's like a qualifying lap, a time practice lap,
16:21and your heart is pounding
16:22because you can't afford to switch off.
16:25The sand is deep enough that you're always constantly working
16:28when you shut off.
16:29The front end wants to grab at the, you know,
16:31the front end in the sand.
16:32Watch him through here.
16:33He doubles his way through.
16:35And you're just always in a moment of just intensity.
16:38You can't switch off.
16:39You can't relax.
16:40Not anywhere.
16:42And then if you make a slight mistake,
16:44it just kind of,
16:45it's like falling out of the ugly tree, you know,
16:47kind of you fall down, hit every branch,
16:49and then get beat up by the ugly stick when you sort of crash.
16:51There's just no, no getting away from it.
16:55And Ben Watson's moved his way into the points.
16:57Now Van der Meer is like down to 11th.
16:58So fair play to Ben, getting into the points again.
17:01Right, DeWolf.
17:02He'll cut to the inside.
17:04There's no way he should find his way past there,
17:06and he doesn't.
17:07But you see how late he break compared to Geiser
17:09in that moment.
17:11Nine laps complete.
17:13Herlings, 25 seconds clear of Adamo,
17:14who in turn is only 2.3 seconds clear of Koldenhoff.
17:18Koldenhoff was quicker that time around
17:20as he pursues the Italian.
17:21But this battle here for fourth place
17:24between Geiser and DeWolf
17:26as we head down the back straight.
17:27He was absolutely fantastic down this part of the racetrack
17:29a year ago in MX2, wasn't he?
17:31Kai DeWolf.
17:33The track not as rough
17:35at this stage of the weekend
17:37for him to kind of turn that into his absolute strength.
17:41But this is a three-way battle for third now
17:43as Koldenhoff being caught
17:49by Geiser and DeWolf here.

17:53Adamo in that next left-hander.
17:55So that's second, third, fourth, and fifth
17:57all in the same shot.

18:05the battle is for third place
18:06behind the two Dutch riders
18:08and DeWolf could nail second here
18:10even from the floor in the first corner.

18:23but bounces his way over that single

18:45that the Hoff is riding this weekend.

18:55and DeWolf now up in the fourth place.
