00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:58Psalm 119
05:01How blessed are those whose actions are blameless, who obey the law of the Lord.
05:07How blessed are those who observe his rules, and seek him with all their heart.
05:13Whom, moreover, do no wrong, but follow in his footsteps.
05:19You demand that your precepts be carefully kept.
05:23But if only I were predisposed to keep your statutes, then I would not be ashamed if I were focused
05:31on your commands.
05:33I will give you sincere thanks when I learn your just regulations.
05:39I will keep your statutes.
05:42Do not completely abandon me.
05:46How can a young person maintain a pure life?
05:49By guarding it according to your instruction.
05:53With all my heart I seek you.
05:55Do not allow me to stray from your commands.
05:59In my heart I store up your words, so I might not sin against you.
06:05You deserve praise, O Lord.
06:08Teach me your statutes.
06:11With my lips I proclaim all the regulations you have revealed.
06:16I rejoice in the lifestyle prescribed by your rules, as if they were riches of all kinds.
06:24I will meditate on your precepts and focus on your behavior.
06:29I find delight in your statutes.
06:32I do not forget your instructions.
06:36Be kind to your servant, then I will live and keep your instructions.
06:42Open my eyes, so that I can truly see the marvelous things in your law.
06:48I am a resident foreigner in this land.
06:51Do not hide your commands from me.
06:54I desperately long to know your regulations at all times.
07:00You reprimand arrogant people.
07:03Those who stray from your commands are doomed.
07:07Spare me shame and humiliation, for I observe your rules.
07:12Though rulers plot and slander me, your servant meditates on your statutes.
07:19Yes, I find delight in your rules.
07:22They give me guidance.
07:25I collapse in the dirt.
07:27Revive me with your word.
07:30I told you about my ways and you answered me.
07:33Teach me your statutes.
07:36Help me to understand what your precepts mean.
07:39Then I can meditate on your marvelous teachings.
07:44I collapse from grief.
07:46Sustain me by your word.
07:49Remove me from the path of deceit.
07:52Graciously give me your law.
07:54I choose the path of faithfulness.
07:57I am committed to your regulations.
08:00I hold fast to your rules, O Lord.
08:03Do not let me be ashamed.
08:06I run along the path of your commands.
08:09For you enable me to do so.
08:13Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
08:17As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be.
08:21World without end.
08:23Amen.
08:29The book of Deuteronomy, chapter 18.
08:34The priests, the Levites, and all the tribe of Levi shall have no portion nor inheritance with Israel.
08:42They shall eat the offerings of Yahweh made by fire and his portion.
08:47They shall have no inheritance amongst their brothers.
08:51Yahweh is their inheritance, as he has spoken to them.
08:56This shall be the priests due from the people, from those who offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or
09:03sheep,
09:04that they shall give to the priest to the shoulder, the two cheeks, and the inner parts.
09:09The first fruits of your grain, of your new wine, and of your oil, and the first of the fleece
09:15of your sheep, you shall give him.
09:17For Yahweh your God has chosen him, out of all your tribes, to stand and minister in Yahweh's name, him
09:25and his sons, for ever.
09:29If a Levite comes from any of your gates, out of all Israel, where he lives as a foreigner,
09:36and comes with all his desire of the soul to the place which Yahweh shall choose,
09:41then he shall minister in the name of Yahweh his God, as all the brothers, the Levites, do, who stand
09:49there before Yahweh.
09:51They shall have like portions to eat, in addition to that which comes from the sale of any family possessions.
10:00When you have come into the land which Yahweh your God gives you,
10:03you shall not learn to imitate the abominations of those nations.
10:08There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire,
10:15or use divination, practice sorcery, or an enchanter, sorcerer, or charmer,
10:22or consultor with a familiar spirit, or wizard, or a necromancer.
10:28For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh.
10:33Because of these abominations, Yahweh your God drives them out from before you.
10:38You shall be perfect before Yahweh your God.
10:42For these nations that you shall dispossess, listen to those who practice sorcery, and to diviners.
10:50But as for you, Yahweh your God has not allowed you so to do.
10:57Yahweh your God will raise you up a prophet from amongst you, of your brothers like me.
11:03You shall listen to him.
11:04This is according to all that you desired of Yahweh your God in Horeb.
11:09In the day of the assembly, saying,
11:12Let me not hear again, Yahweh, my God's voice.
11:15Neither let me see this great fire any more, that I not die.
11:21Yahweh said to me,
11:23They have said well that which they have spoken.
11:25I will raise up them a prophet from amongst their brothers like you.
11:30I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him.
11:37And it shall happen that whoever will not listen to my words which he speaks in my name,
11:42I will require it of him.
11:45But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in my name,
11:49which I have not commanded him to speak,
11:52or who speaks in the name of other gods,
11:55that same prophet shall die.
11:58You may say in your heart,
12:00How shall we know the word which Yahweh has not spoken?
12:05When the prophet speaks in Yahweh's name,
12:08if the thing does not follow nor happen,
12:10this is the thing which Yahweh has not spoken.
12:14The prophet has spoken it presumptuously,
12:18and you shall not be afraid of him.
12:22This is the word of the Lord.
12:25Thanks be to God.
12:38Mary said,
12:40My soul exalts the Lord,
12:42and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
12:47because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
12:52For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
12:57because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
13:01and holy is his name.
13:03From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
13:10He has demonstrated power with his arm.
13:13He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
13:19He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
13:22and has lifted up those of lowly position.
13:26He has filled the hungry with good things,
13:29and has sent the rich away empty.
13:31He has helped his servant Israel,
13:35remembering his mercy,
13:37as he promised to our ancestors,
13:40to Abraham,
13:41and to his descendants forever.
13:45Glory be to the Father,
13:47and to the Son,
13:48and to the Holy Spirit,
13:50as it was in the beginning,
13:52is now,
13:53and ever shall be,
13:55world without end.
13:57Amen.
14:03The Gospel according to St. Matthew,
14:05Chapter 28
14:09Now late on the Sabbath,
14:11when the dawn of the first day of the week was near,
14:14Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to the place where his body was.
14:19There was a great earthquake,
14:21for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven,
14:24and rolling back the stone,
14:26took his seat upon it.
14:28His form was shining like the light,
14:30and his clothing was as white as snow.
14:34For fear of him,
14:36the watchmen were shaking,
14:37and became as dead men.
14:41The angel said to the women,
14:43Have no fear,
14:44for I see that you are searching for Jesus,
14:46who was put to death on the cross.
14:49He is not here,
14:51for he has come to life again,
14:53even as he said,
14:55Come, see the Lord's resting place.
14:57Go quickly,
14:59and give his disciples the news,
15:00that he has come back from the dead,
15:02and is going before you into Galilee.
15:06There you will see him,
15:08as I have said to you.
15:10And so they went away quickly,
15:12with fear and great joy,
15:14to give his disciples the news.
15:19On the way Jesus came to them,
15:21saying,
15:22Be glad.
15:23And they came,
15:24and they put their hands on his feet,
15:26and gave him worship.
15:29Then Jesus said to them,
15:31Have no fear,
15:32go and give my word to my brothers,
15:35to go to Galilee,
15:36and there they will see me.
15:39Now while they were going,
15:41some of the watchmen came into town,
15:43and gave news to the chief priests,
15:45of all the things that had taken place.
15:48When they had come together,
15:50with those in authority,
15:51and had made their decision,
15:54they gave much money,
15:55to the watchmen saying,
15:57His disciples came by night,
15:58and took him away secretly,
16:00while we were asleep.
16:02If this comes to the ruler's ears,
16:04we will see,
16:05that he does not make you responsible.
16:08So they took the money,
16:10and did as they had been ordered.
16:13And this account,
16:14was current amongst the Jews,
16:15until the present time.
16:19The eleven disciples,
16:20returned to Galilee,
16:22to the mountain,
16:23where Jesus had given them,
16:25orders to go.
16:26When they saw him,
16:28they gave worship,
16:29but some were in doubt.
16:31Jesus came to them,
16:32and said,
16:33All authority has been given to me,
16:35in heaven and on earth.
16:37Go,
16:38and make disciples,
16:40of all the nations,
16:41giving them baptism,
16:42in the name of the Father,
16:44and of the Son,
16:45and of the Holy Spirit,
16:47teaching them,
16:48to keep all the rules,
16:49which I have given to you.
16:51See,
16:52I am ever with you,
16:54even until the end of the world.
16:58This is the word of the Lord.
17:00Thanks be to God.
17:13Now according to your word,
17:15Sovereign Lord,
17:16permit your servant,
17:18to depart in peace.
17:19For my eyes,
17:21have seen your salvation,
17:22that you have prepared,
17:24in the presence of all peoples,
17:27a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
17:30and for glory to your people Israel.
17:35Glory be to the Father,
17:37and to the Son,
17:38and to the Holy Spirit,
17:39as it was in the beginning,
17:41is now,
17:42and ever shall be,
17:44world without end.
17:46Amen.
17:51I believe in God,
17:53the Father Almighty,
17:55maker of heaven and earth,
17:56and in Jesus Christ,
17:58his only Son,
17:59our Lord,
18:00who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
18:03born of the Virgin Mary,
18:05suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
18:08was crucified,
18:10dead,
18:11and buried.
18:12He descended into hell.
18:14On the third day,
18:15he rose again from the dead.
18:18He ascended into heaven,
18:20and is sitting at the right hand of God,
18:23the Father Almighty.
18:25From there,
18:26he shall come to judge the living,
18:27and the dead.
18:30I believe in the Holy Spirit,
18:32the Holy Catholic Church,
18:34the communion of saints,
18:35the forgiveness of sins,
18:38the resurrection of the body,
18:40and the life everlasting.
18:43Amen.
18:48The Lord be with you,
18:51and with your spirit.
18:55Let us pray.
18:58Lord, have mercy upon us.
19:02Christ, have mercy upon us.
19:06Lord, have mercy upon us.
19:13Our Father,
19:14who is in heaven,
19:16holy is your name.
19:19May your kingdom come.
19:21May your will be done on earth,
19:24as it is in heaven.
19:26Give us this day our daily bread.
19:29Forgive us our trespasses,
19:30as we forgive those who trespass against us.
19:35Lead us not into temptation,
19:38but deliver us from evil.
19:40for yours is the kingdom,
19:43for yours is the kingdom,
19:44the power and the glory,
19:45for ever and ever.
19:48Amen.
19:53O Lord,
19:54show your mercy upon us,
19:56and grant us your salvation.
20:02Protect and guide those in authority over us,
20:06and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
20:12Endure your ministers with righteousness,
20:15and make your chosen people joyful.
20:21O Lord, save your people,
20:24and bless your inheritance.
20:29Give peace in our time,
20:31O Lord,
20:33because there is none other who fights for us,
20:36but only you,
20:37O God.
20:39O God, make clean our hearts within us,
20:44and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
20:55Almighty and everlasting God,
20:57who gave to your Apostle Bartholomew grace truly to believe,
21:01and to preach your Holy Word,
21:04grant, we beseech you,
21:06to your Holy Church,
21:07to love that same Word he believed,
21:10and to both preach,
21:12and receive the same.
21:14Through Jesus Christ,
21:16Christ our Lord.
21:17Amen.
21:26O God,
21:28from whom all holy desires,
21:31all good counsels,
21:32and all just works proceed,
21:35give to your servants that peace,
21:37which the world cannot give,
21:40that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
21:43and also that,
21:45by you,
21:46we,
21:47being defended from the fear of our enemies,
21:50may pass our time in rest and quietness.
21:54Through the merits of Jesus Christ,
21:57our Saviour.
21:58Amen.
22:03Lighten our darkness,
22:05we beseech you,
22:06O Lord,
22:06and by your great mercy,
22:08defend us all from perils and dangers of this night.
22:13For the love of your only Son,
22:16our Saviour,
22:17Jesus Christ.
22:18Amen.
22:22Almighty God,
22:23who has given us grace at this time with one accord,
22:27to make our common supplications to you,
22:30and promises that when two or three are gathered together in your name,
22:35you will grant their requests.
22:39Fulfill now, O Lord,
22:41the desires and petitions of your servants,
22:44as may be most beneficial for them,
22:48granting us in this world knowledge of your truth,
22:52and in the world to come,
22:54life everlasting.
22:56Amen.
22:59With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
23:02and the love of God,
23:03and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
23:06be with us all evermore.
23:09Amen.
23:10Amen.
