00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name.
03:14Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace,
03:24that they may be cleansed from all their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind, through Jesus Christ our
03:32Lord.
03:33Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
04:10Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
04:39as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be,
04:43world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:50The Lord's name be praised.
05:09The Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's
05:14name be praised, and the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's name be

05:15the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's
05:15name be praised, and the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's name be
05:15praised, and the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's name be praised, and
05:16the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's
05:17name be praised, and the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's name be praised, and the Lord's name be

11:059. I wish that my head were a well full of water, and my eyes were a fountain full of
11:13tears. If they were, I could cry day and night for those of my dear people who have been
11:20killed. I wish I had a lodging place in the desert where I could spend some time like
11:26a weary traveller. Then I could desert my people and walk away from them, because they
11:33are all unfaithful to God, a congregation of people that has been disloyal to him. The
11:41Lord says, these people are like soldiers who have readied their bows. Their tongues are
11:47ready to shoot lies. They have become powerful in the land, but they have not done so by honest
11:54means. Indeed, they do one evil thing after another and do not pay attention to me. Everyone
12:03must be on his guard around his friends. He must not even trust any of his relatives.
12:10For every one of them will find some way to cheat him, and all of his friends will tell
12:16lies about him. One friend deceives another and no one tells the truth. These people have
12:24trained themselves to tell lies. They do wrong and are unable to repent. They do one act of
12:32violence after another, one deceitful thing after another. They refuse to pay attention
12:38to me, says the Lord. Therefore the Lord who rules over all says, I will now purify them
12:46in the fires of affliction, and test them. The wickedness of my dear people has left me
12:53no choice. What else can I do? Their tongues are like deadly arrows. They are always telling
13:03lies. Friendly words for their neighbours come from their mouths, but their minds are thinking
13:09up ways to trap them. I will certainly punish them for doing such things, says the Lord.
13:15I will certainly bring retribution on such a nation as this. I said, I will weep and mourn
13:24for the grasslands on the mountains. I will sing a mournful song for the pastures in the wilderness,
13:30because they are so scorched no one travels through them. The sound of livestock is no longer
13:37hurt there. Even the birds in the sky and the wild animals in the fields have fled and have gone.
13:46The Lord said, I will make Jerusalem a heap of ruins. Jackals will make their home there.
13:53I will destroy the towns of Judah, so that no one will be able to live in them.
14:00I said, Who is wise enough to understand why this has happened? Who has a word from the Lord that
14:08can
14:08explain it? Why does the land lie in ruins? Why is it scorched like a desert through which no one
14:17travels? The Lord answered, This has happened because these people have rejected my laws which I gave them.
14:28They have not obeyed me or followed these laws. Instead, they have followed the stubborn
14:35inclinations of their own hearts. They have paid allegiance to the gods called Baal, as their
14:42fathers taught them to. So then listen to what I, the Lord God of Israel, who rules over all, says.
14:54I will make these people eat the bitter food of suffering. I drink the poison water of judgment.
15:02I will scatter them among the nations that neither they nor their ancestors have known anything about.
15:09I will send people chasing after them with swords until I have destroyed them.
15:17The Lord who rules over all told me to say this to people. Take note of what I say. Call
15:26for the women
15:26who mourn for the dead. Summon those who are the most skilled at it. I said, Indeed, let them come
15:36quickly and
15:36sing a song of mourning for us. Let them wail loudly until tears stream from our own eyes and our
15:44eyelids
15:45overflow with water. For the sound of wailing is soon to be heard in Zion. They will wail, We are
15:54utterly ruined,
15:55we are completely disgraced, for our houses have been torn down, and we must leave our land.
16:03I said, So now you wailing women, hear what the Lord says. Open your ears to the words of his
16:11mouth.
16:12Teach your daughters this mournful song, and each of you teach your neighbour this lament.
16:20Death has climbed in through our windows. It has entered into our fortified houses.
16:26It has taken away our children who play in the streets.
16:30It has taken away our young men who gather in the city squares.
16:35Tell your daughters and neighbours, The Lord says,
16:38The dead bodies of people will lie scattered everywhere, like manure scattered on a field.
16:46They will lie scattered on a ground, like grain that has been cut down but not gathered.
16:54The Lord says, Wise people should not boast that they are wise.
17:01Powerful people should not boast that they are powerful.
17:05Rich people should not boast that they are rich.
17:09If people want to boast, they should boast about this.
17:13They should boast that they understand and know me.
17:16They should boast that they know and understand that I, the Lord, act out of faithfulness, fairness and justice in
17:24the earth.
17:25And that I desire people to do these things, says the Lord.
17:31The Lord says, Watch out, for the time is coming soon when I will punish all those who are circumcised
17:38only in the flesh.
17:40That is, I will punish Egyptian, Judean, Edomite, Ammonite and Moabite.
17:47All the desert people who cut their hair short at the temples.
17:52I will do so because none of the people of those nations are really circumcised in the Lord's sight.
18:01Moreover, none of the people of Israel are circumcised when it comes to their hearts.
18:09This is the word of the Lord.
18:12Thanks be to God.
18:23Mary said,
18:25My soul exalts the Lord, and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
18:32because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
18:37For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
18:42because he who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
18:48From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
18:55He has demonstrated power with his arm.
18:58He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
19:04He has brought down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up those of lowly position.
19:11He has filled the hungry with good things, and has sent the rich away empty.
19:17He has helped his servant Israel, remembering his mercy as he promised to our ancestors, to Abraham, and to his
19:27descendants for ever.
19:30Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
19:37is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
19:50The Gospel according to St. Matthew chapter 22
19:56The Pharisees went and had a meeting to see how they may make use of his words to take him.
20:02They said to him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying,
20:07Master, we see that you are true and that you are teaching the true way of God.
20:12You have no fear of anyone, because you have no respect for a man's position.
20:18Give us then your opinion of this. Is it right to give tax to Caesar or not?
20:26But Jesus saw through their trick and said,
20:28O false ones, why are you attempting to put me in the wrong? Let me see the tax money.
20:36And they gave him a penny.
20:39And he said to them,
20:41Whose is this image and name on it?
20:43And they said to him, Caesar's.
20:47Then he said to them,
20:49Give to Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and to God the things which are God's.
20:57Hearing it, they were full of wonder, and went away from him.
21:04On the same day there came to him the Sadducees, who say that there is no coming back from the
21:09dead.
21:11They put a question to him, saying, Master, Moses said,
21:15If a man at the time of his death has no children,
21:18his brother should take his wife and get a family for his brother.
21:23Now there were among us seven brothers, and the first was married,
21:27and at his death, having no seed, gave his wife to his brother.
21:32In the same way the second and the third up to the seventh.
21:36And last of all the woman herself came to her end.
21:42When they come back from the dead then, whose wife will she be of the seventh?
21:47Because they all had her.
21:51But Jesus answered to them,
21:54You are in error, for you have no knowledge of the writing,
21:58or of the power of God.
22:00For when they come back from the dead there are no husbands or wives,
22:04but they are as angels in heaven.
22:08But about the dead coming back to life,
22:11have you no knowledge of what was said to you by God in the writings?
22:15I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
22:21God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
22:26The people hearing it were surprised at his teaching.
22:33But the Pharisees, hearing how the mouths of the Sadducees had been stopped, came together.
22:40And one of them, a teacher of the law, put a question to him to test him, saying,
22:46Master, which is the chief rule in the law?
22:51Jesus said to him,
22:53Have love for the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your
22:57mind.
23:00This is the first and greatest rule.
23:04A second like it is this.
23:08Have love for your neighbour as for yourself.
23:11On these two rules, all the law and the prophets are based.
23:17This is the word of the Lord.
23:20Thanks be to God.
23:32Now, according to your word, Sovereign Lord, permit your servant to depart in peace.
23:39For my eyes have seen your salvation, that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
23:47a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and for glory to your people Israel.
23:55Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning,
24:01is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
24:10I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our
24:19Lord,
24:20who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
24:28who was crucified, dead, and buried, he descended into hell.
24:34On the third day he rose again from the dead.
24:38He ascended into heaven, and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
24:45From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
24:49I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints,
24:55the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
25:02Amen.
25:08The Lord be with you, and with your spirit.
25:15Let us pray.
25:18Lord, have mercy upon us.
25:22Christ, have mercy upon us.
25:26Lord, have mercy upon us.
25:33Our Father, who is in heaven, holy is your name.
25:39May your kingdom come.
25:41May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
25:46Give us this day our daily bread.
25:48Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
25:55Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
26:00For yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.
26:07Amen.
26:13O Lord, show your mercy upon us, and grant us your salvation.
26:21Protect and guide those in authority over us, and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
26:35O Lord, save your people.
26:40O Lord, save your people, and bless your inheritance.
26:49Give peace in our time, O Lord, because there is none other who fights for us, but only you, O
26:57God.
26:59O God, make clean our hearts within us, and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
27:15Let us pray.
27:18Let your merciful ears, O Lord, be open to the prayers of your humble servants,
27:24that they may obtain their petitions, make them ask such things as will please you.
27:30Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
27:42O God, from whom all holy desires, all good counsels, and all just works proceed,
27:50give to your servants that peace which the world cannot give,
27:55that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
27:59and also that, by you, we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
28:05may pass our time in rest and quietness.
28:09Through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Saviour. Amen.
28:19Lighten our darkness, we beseech you, O Lord,
28:22and by your great mercy defend us all from perils and dangers of this night.
28:29For the love of your only Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
28:37Almighty God, who has given us grace at this time with one accord
28:42to make our common supplications to you,
28:46and promises that when two or three are gathered together in your name,
28:50you will grant their requests.
28:54Fulfill now, O Lord, the desires and petitions of your servants,
28:59as may be most beneficial for them,
29:03granting us in this world knowledge of your truth,
29:07and in the world to come, life everlasting.
29:11Amen.
29:15May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God
29:18and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
29:21be with us all evermore.
29:24Amen.
