00:17When a wicked person turns from the wickedness he has committed, and does what is just and right, he will
00:26preserve his life.
00:30For I am aware of my rebellious acts, I am forever conscious of my sin.
00:39Hide your face from my sins, wipe away all my guilt.
00:47The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit, O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.
01:01Dearly beloved brothers and sisters, the scripture moves us in sundry places to acknowledge and confess our many sins and
01:10wickedness.
01:12We should not justify nor hide them before the face of Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, but confess them with
01:20a humble, lowly, penitent and obedient heart.
01:24To the end that we may obtain forgiveness of the same, by his infinite goodness and mercy.
01:35Although we ought always to humbly acknowledge our sins before God, we should do this particularly when we assemble and
01:43meet together,
01:44to give thanks for the great benefits we have received at his hands.
01:48To give him most worthy praise, to hear his most holy word, and to ask those things which are truly
01:57necessary as well for the body as the soul.
02:02Therefore I pray and ask you, who are present here today, to accompany me with a pure heart and humble
02:09voice to the throne of the heavenly grace, as we say together.
02:16Almighty and most merciful Father, we have erred and strayed from your ways like lost sheep.
02:23We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts.
02:29We have offended against your holy laws.
02:32We have failed to do those things which we ought to have done, and we have done things which we
02:39ought not to have done.
02:44But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable sinners.
02:49Spare those, O God, who confess their faults.
02:53Restore those who are truly penitent, according to your promises declared to mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord.
03:03Grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to
03:12the glory of your holy name. Amen.
03:18Grant, we beseech you, merciful Lord, to your faithful people, pardon and peace, that they may be cleansed from all
03:26their sins, and serve you with a quiet mind.
03:30Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
03:38Our Father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.
03:43Your kingdom come, your will be done, in earth as it is in heaven.
03:49Give us this day our daily bread.
03:52Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
03:59Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
04:05For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
04:15O Lord, open our lips, and our mouths shall sing out your praise.
04:23O God, make speed to save us.
04:27O Lord, make haste to help us.
04:33Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
04:39As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
04:45Amen.
04:48Praise the Lord.
04:51The Lord's name be praised.
04:57Psalm 119
05:00Your hands made me and formed me.
05:03Give me understanding, so that I might learn your commands.
05:07Your loyal followers will be glad when they see me, for I find hope in your word.
05:13I know, Lord, that your regulations are just.
05:17You disciplined me because of your faithful devotion to me.
05:22May your loyal love console me, as you promised your servant.
05:28May I experience your compassion, so I might live.
05:32For I find delight in your law.
05:36May the arrogant be humiliated, for they have slandered me.
05:41But I meditate on your precepts.
05:45May your loyal followers turn to me, those who know your rules.
05:51May I be fully committed to your statutes, so that I might not be ashamed.
05:58May I desperately long for your deliverance.
06:01May I find hope in your word.
06:03My eyes grow tired as I wait for your promise to be fulfilled.
06:09I say, when will you comfort me?
06:12For I am like a wineskin dried up in smoke.
06:16I do not forget your statutes.
06:19How long must your servant endure this?
06:22When will you judge those who pursue me?
06:26The arrogant dig pits to trap me, which violate your law.
06:31All your commands are reliable.
06:34I am pursued without reason.
06:36Help me.
06:39They have almost destroyed me here on the earth.
06:42But I do not reject your precepts.
06:46Revive me with your loyal love, that I might keep the rules you have revealed.
06:53O Lord, your instructions endure.
06:55They stand secure in heaven.
06:58You demonstrate your faithfulness to all generations.
07:02You established the earth, and it stood firm.
07:06Today they stand firm by your decrees, for all things are your servants.
07:12If I had not found encouragement in your law, I would have died in my sorrow.
07:19I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have revived me.
07:25I belong to you, deliver me, for I seek your precepts.
07:31The wicked prepare to kill me, and yet I concentrate on your rules.
07:38I realize that everything has its limits, but your commands are full comprehension.
07:46Oh, how I love your law!
07:48All day long I meditate on it.
07:52Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, for I am always aware of them.
07:59I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your rules.
08:05I am more discerning than those older than I, for I observe your precepts.
08:12I stay away from every evil path, so that I might keep your instructions.
08:19I do not turn aside from your regulations, for you teach me.
08:25Your words are sweeter in my mouth than honey.
08:29Your precepts give me discernment, therefore I hate all deceitful actions.
08:37Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
08:41as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
08:47Amen.
08:56The prophet Jeremiah chapter 40
09:01The word which came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, after Nebuchadnezzar, the captain of the guard,
09:06had let him go from Ramah, where he had taken him, being bound in chains with the captives
09:13of Jerusalem and Judah, who were carried away captive to Babylon.
09:20The captain of the guard, Jeremiah, took him and said to him,
09:25Yahweh your God pronounced this evil on the place, and Yahweh has brought it and done according
09:31to as he spoke.
09:34Because you have sinned against Yahweh, and have not obeyed his voice,
09:39this thing has come upon you.
09:43Now look, I am going to release you today from the chains which are on your hand.
09:49If it seems good to you to come with me into Babylon, come, and I will take care of you.
09:55But if it seems bad to you to come with me into Babylon, don't.
10:00Look, all the land is before you.
10:03Where it seems good and right for you to go, go.
10:09Now while he had not yet gone back, go back, he said, to Jedaliah, the son of Achiham,
10:17the son of Shaphan, who the king of Babylon has made governor over the cities of Judah,
10:22and dwell with him amongst the people, or go wherever it seems right for you to go.
10:30So the captain of the guard gave him food and a present, and let him go.
10:38Jeremiah went to Jedaliah, the son of Achiham, to Mizpah,
10:43and lived with him among the people who were left in the land.
10:47Now when all the captains of the forces who were in the fields,
10:50even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Jedaliah,
10:56the son of Achiham, governor of the land,
10:58and had committed to him men, women, children,
11:01and the poorest of the land,
11:03those who had not been carried away captive to Babylon.
11:08Then Ishmael, the son of Nephaniah,
11:11Johanan, and Jonathan, the sons of Keriah,
11:13and Seriah, the son of Tahumatheth,
11:16and the sons of Ephiah, the Netaphite,
11:19and Jezeniah, the son of Mekathite.
11:23They and their men came to Jedaliah, to Mizpah.
11:28Jedaliah, the son of Achiham, the son of Shaphan,
11:30swore to them and their men, saying,
11:33Don't be afraid to serve the Chaldeans,
11:35but dwell in the land and serve the king of Babylon,
11:38and it will be well for you.
11:43As for me, look, I am going to dwell at Mizpah,
11:46to stand in front of the Chaldeans who will come back to us.
11:50But you, go, gather wine and summer fruits and oil,
11:54and put them in your vessels,
11:55and dwell in the cities that you have taken.
12:00Likewise, when all the Jews who were in Moab
12:02and among the children of Ammon and in Edom,
12:05and who were in all the countries,
12:07heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant in Judah,
12:11and that he had set over them
12:12Jedaliah, the son of Achiham,
12:14the son of Shaphan.
12:19Then all the Jews returned out of all the places
12:22where they were driven,
12:23and came to Judah, to Jedaliah, to Mizpah,
12:26and gathered very much fruit and summer wine.
12:32Moreover, Johanan, the son of Kiriah,
12:34and all the captains of the forces who were in the fields,
12:37came to Jedaliah and said,
12:39Did you know that Baalus, the king of the children of Ammon,
12:43has sent Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah,
12:45to take your life?
12:48But Jedaliah, the son of Achiham,
12:50did not believe them.
12:53Then Johanan, the son of Kareah,
12:56spoke to Jedaliah in Mizpah secretly.
13:00Please let me go,
13:01and I will kill Ishmael, the son of Nethaniah,
13:04and no man will know it.
13:06Why should he take your life,
13:07and that of all the Jews who were gathered to you?
13:10Why should they be scattered,
13:12and the remnant of Judea perish?
13:15But Jedaliah, the son of Achiham,
13:18said to Johanan, the son of Kareah,
13:21You shall not do this thing,
13:23for you speak falsely of Ishmael.
13:28This is the word of the Lord.
13:31Thanks be to God.
13:45Mary said,
13:47My soul exalts the Lord,
13:50and my spirit has begun to rejoice in God my Saviour,
13:54because he has looked upon the humble state of his servant.
14:00For from now on all generations will call me blessed,
14:04because he who is mighty has done great things for me,
14:08and holy is his name.
14:11From generation to generation he is merciful to those who fear him.
14:17He has demonstrated power with his arm.
14:21He has scattered those whose pride wells up from the sheer arrogance of their hearts.
14:27He has brought down the mighty from their thrones,
14:30and has lifted up those of lowly position.
14:33He has filled the hungry with good things,
14:36and has sent the rich away empty.
14:40He has helped his servant Israel,
14:43remembering his mercy,
14:44as he promised to our ancestors,
14:47to Abraham,
14:49and to his descendants for ever.
14:53Glory be to the Father,
14:54and to the Son,
14:55and to the Holy Spirit,
14:57as it was in the beginning,
14:59is now,
15:00and ever shall be,
15:02world without end.
15:04Amen.
15:11The Gospel according to Saint Mark,
15:14Chapter 1
15:18The beginning of the good news of Jesus Christ,
15:20the Son of God.
15:22As it is written in the prophets,
15:40John came baptizing in the wilderness,
15:43and preaching the baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.
15:48All the country of Judea and those of Jerusalem went out to him.
15:53They were baptized by him in the Jordan River,
15:56confessing their sins.
15:59John was clothed with camel's hair,
16:02and a leather belt around his waist.
16:04He ate locusts and wild honey.
16:07He preached, saying,
16:08After me comes one who is mightier than I,
16:13the thong of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and loosen.
16:19I baptize you in water,
16:21but he will baptize you in the Holy Spirit.
16:25In those days Jesus came down from Nazareth of Galilee,
16:29and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
16:34Immediately coming up from the water,
16:36he saw the heavens parting,
16:38and the Spirit descending upon him like a dove.
16:43A voice came out of the sky.
16:45You are my beloved Son,
16:48in whom I am well pleased.
16:51This is the word of the Lord.
16:54Thanks be to God.
17:07Now, according to your word,
17:09Sovereign Lord,
17:10permit your servant to depart in peace.
17:13For my eyes have seen your salvation,
17:17that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
17:21a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
17:24and for glory to your people Israel.
17:29Glory be to the Father,
17:31and to the Son,
17:32and to the Holy Spirit,
17:34as it was in the beginning,
17:36is now,
17:36and ever shall be,
17:38world without end.
17:40Amen.
17:45I believe in God the Father Almighty,
17:48Maker of heaven and earth,
17:50and in Jesus Christ,
17:52his only Son,
17:53our Lord,
17:54who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
17:57born of the Virgin Mary,
17:59suffered unto Pontius Pilate,
18:03was crucified,
18:04dead,
18:05and buried.
18:06He descended into hell.
18:08On the third day he rose again from the dead.
18:12He ascended into heaven,
18:14and is sitting at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
18:19From there he shall come to judge the living and the dead.
18:24I believe in the Holy Spirit,
18:26the Holy Catholic Church,
18:28the communion of saints,
18:29the forgiveness of sins,
18:32the resurrection of the body,
18:34and the life everlasting.
18:37Amen.
18:42The Lord be with you,
18:45and with your spirit.
18:49Let us pray.
18:53Lord, have mercy upon us.
18:56Christ, have mercy upon us.
19:00Lord, have mercy upon us.
19:07Our Father,
19:08who is in heaven,
19:10holy is your name.
19:13May your kingdom come.
19:15May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
19:20Give us this day our daily bread.
19:22Lord, forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.
19:29Lead us not into temptation,
19:32but deliver us from evil.
19:34For yours is the kingdom,
19:37for yours is the kingdom,
19:38the power and the glory,
19:39for ever and ever.
19:42Amen.
19:47O Lord,
19:48O Lord,
19:48show your mercy upon us,
19:50and grant us your salvation.
19:56Protect and guide those in authority over us,
20:01and mercifully hear us when we call upon you.
20:06Endure your ministers with righteousness,
20:10and make your chosen people joyful.
20:15O Lord, save your people,
20:19and bless your inheritance.
20:23Give peace in our time, O Lord,
20:27because there is none other who fights for us,
20:30but only you, O God.
20:33O God, make clean our hearts within us,
20:38and take not your Holy Spirit from us.
20:49Let us pray.
20:52Almighty and everlasting God,
20:54who is always more ready to hear than we are to pray,
20:58who is willing to give more than either we desire nor deserve.
21:03Pour upon us the abundance of your mercy.
21:06Forgive us those things of which our conscience is afraid,
21:11and giving us those good things which we are not worthy to ask,
21:15but through the merit and mediation of Jesus Christ,
21:19your Son, our Lord.
21:21Amen.
21:30O God,
21:32from whom all holy desires,
21:35all good counsels,
21:36and all just works proceed,
21:39give to your servants that peace
21:41which the world cannot give,
21:44that our hearts may be set to obey your commandments,
21:47and also that, by you,
21:50we, being defended from the fear of our enemies,
21:54may pass our time in rest and quietness,
21:58through the merits of Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
22:01Amen.
22:07Lighten our darkness,
22:08we beseech you, O Lord,
22:10and by your great mercy defend us all
22:13from perils and dangers of this night.
22:17For the love of your only Son,
22:19our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
22:21Amen.
22:26Almighty God,
22:27who has given us grace at this time with one accord,
22:31to make our common supplications to you,
22:34and promises that when two or three are gathered together in your name,
22:39you will grant their requests.
22:43Fulfill now, O Lord,
22:45the desires and petitions of your servants,
22:48as may be most beneficial for them,
22:52granting us in this world knowledge of your truth,
22:56and in the world to come,
22:58life everlasting.
23:00Amen.
23:03With the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
23:06and the love of God,
23:07and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit,
23:09be with us all evermore.
23:13Amen.
