00:00Hello there, welcome to your afternoon update from the Met Office.
00:04Now today we've seen some heavy rain in the south.
00:07It is clearing but still blustery showers further north.
00:11And you can see here they're clustering together to form longer spells of rain.
00:15Expect very strong winds towards the northwest of Scotland transferring eastwards as we head into the afternoon,
00:21touching gale force along the coastline.
00:23These showers filter in and could be heavy across Northern Ireland, northwest England,
00:27but notice further south they're fairly scattered and the rains clearing the far southeast.
00:32You'll see some sunshine coming through.
00:34So some brighter breaks across more central and eastern areas are through the day.
00:38And those showers continue further north and northwest.
00:41And again, we could see some longer spells of rain.
00:45Let's take a look at the temperatures then through this afternoon.
00:48At the very best, probably 22 in shelter across the southeast.
00:52Generally speaking, though, it's feeling fresh outside.
00:5416 for Northern Ireland, 17 for the northeast of England, perhaps an 18 for mid-Wales, 19 for the Midlands.
01:02And notice this wind is brisk across the southwest peninsula and very strong towards the west,
01:08even through this afternoon with further wet weather to come.
01:12So through this evening and overnight, we continue with this showery regime.
01:16But notice for England and Wales, these showers become isolated.
01:19We continue to see another bank move in across Northern Ireland, pushing in across western Scotland
01:24through the early hours of tomorrow morning and clearer skies further south.
01:30Now, Northern Ireland will see more cloud later on in the night.
01:33Notice there's some rain just waiting in the wings.
01:35More about that in a moment.
01:37Before that, though, let's have a look at the temperatures through the early hours of the morning.
01:40It's going to be a cool night, certainly in the glens of Scotland,
01:446 to 8 degrees Celsius, the valleys of Wales, the dips of England, yes, probably down to around 8 or
01:499 Celsius.
01:50First thing then, tomorrow morning, you may catch some showers, first thing, for Scotland as well as Northern England.
01:57Certainly strong winds are across Shetland there with further showery bursts.
02:01Through the morning, though, these showers will tend to fade away.
02:04We'll see sunshine across England and Wales before this rain arrives across Northern Ireland.
02:08By around mid-morning, it's Western Scotland seeing that wet weather as those winds pick up some strength.
02:15And notice the clouds thickening ahead of it for Northern Scotland, Northern England, the Midlands, Wales.
02:20Also the West Country, some broken clouds here, but certainly more clouds across that north coast.
02:25We hang on to some sunshine anywhere from the East Midlands down towards the southeast.
02:29And it will feel warm with just a breeze rather than a strong wind, which will continue further north and
02:35west.
02:36The rain could actually turn heavy in places through into the afternoon on Friday.
02:41And it will continue to push its way eastwards and southwards.
02:44So for the Midlands, you could see some later.
02:46And certainly it remains wet across Northern Ireland and the bulk of Scotland with those strong winds.
02:53Through the afternoon then, here are your temperatures.
02:55Struggling under the cloud, the rain, the wind, 15, 16 Celsius, perhaps a 17 for northwest England.
03:01But 22 Celsius across the southeast of England, where we hang on to dry weather.
03:06Central southern England, 19.
03:08But notice the winds picking up along Channel Coast as well through the afternoon.
03:13So that's the picture through Friday.
03:15The working week then has been changeable.
03:17And in fact, that's how we see the beginning of the weekend.
03:20Through Friday and into Saturday, those winds still a feature of the weather, mixing up the air.
03:24So it will be a milder night, perhaps even a little bit more muggy further south as we see more
03:29cloud arrive.
03:29And also some patchy rain for Wales.
03:32Northern England spits and spots.
03:34Showers into the early hours of Saturday across Scotland and Northern Ireland, clustering together yet again to form some longer
03:41spells of rain.
03:42And that biting wind, strong wind here.
03:44But really through the day, we continue with this cloudy regime across England and Wales.
03:50That rain just comes and goes, perhaps drifts in across the Midlands, eastern counties.
03:55Brighter breaks across northern England.
03:56In shelter across Scotland, also seeing some brighter weather.
04:00Northern Ireland through the afternoon.
04:01Showers across the north of the province.
04:03In land, though, you should see some drier and also brighter skies.
04:07The showers will be frequent across more northern and western areas of Scotland with that persistent wind.
04:14So here are your temperatures.
04:1517.
04:15So in shelter across Northern Ireland, slightly better, slightly less fresh.
04:20Further south and southeast, we could see a 22 degrees Celsius.
04:25So that's the picture on Saturday.
04:27Sunday will be a drier day around before we see more cloud arrive from the west.
