00:00He is the leader, according to a lot of Browns fans, or really Shador fans, of the anybody-but-Shador
00:04crowd.
00:06And apparently we got a new one last night when it comes to Carson Beck.
00:09Oh, I saw this. This was kind of funny.
00:13Hey, you've got to have fun with this stuff.
00:14You know, I implore not just Shador fans, everybody, like, if the quarterbacks aren't looking good in camp,
00:20if they're throwing wobblers, if they're not processing, if they're not getting them lined up,
00:24if they're having all the issues that, you know, it seems like they're having, and Todd Munkin has to scream
00:29and yell at them
00:30and use up whatever is left of his voice because these QBs are not emerging, they're not yet ready to,
00:37you know, take a hold of this thing,
00:40then we've got to have some fun with this and have a sense of humor.
00:42And last night, Carson Beck, 15-19, there's a tracker for you in a game against the defense.
00:49I don't know how many of these guys are actually going to be playing in the NFL this year,
00:53but he was lighting it up yesterday, and I was getting the tweets.
00:58Yeah.
00:58And now most of it's in humor.
01:00Most of it is obviously kind of a joke, but, you know, you do wonder overall, like, you know, the
01:05anybody-but-shador thing,
01:07I don't want it to be anybody, but I would love it to just be Shador.
01:10The only reason that we brought up Malik Willis and Anthony Richardson and eventually, you know, Brennan Sorsby,
01:18like, the reason we talked about all these guys is because we don't know if Shador is going to be
01:23good enough
01:24to prevent the Browns from drafting a quarterback.
01:28Well, my stance, I got nothing against Carson Beck.
01:29Again, I did not like him at Georgia.
01:32I thought that he did show a lot of toughness and did grow at an obscene level at Miami.
01:39But my stance is still my stance.
01:41Like, I'm not trying to do guessing games next year and find diamonds in the rough.
01:45Like, when you brought up Malik Willis, I wasn't a big fan of that conversation.
01:49Why?
01:50Because I don't think that he is a guy that we should be investing our time into.
01:55And you can say, Kenny, Shador isn't a guy that you need to be investing your time into.
01:59Deshaun isn't a guy.
02:00They're already here.
02:01See, this is what got misconstrued over that time in the early part of the winter and the very early
02:07part of the offseason.
02:09If I'm going to go through this season, I thought we were going to struggle regardless.
02:13And we were going to have Myles Garrett here, right?
02:15Now we don't have Myles Garrett here.
02:17We got Jared Verse here.
02:18And I'm playing the long game.
02:19I said to you yesterday, and I mean it.
02:21I think that you need to establish a culture.
02:23Guys need to care about each other to really go out there and accomplish something special.
02:27And Jared Verse can help that.
02:29But I just don't want any more time wasted than what I expected us to go through this year figuring
02:36it out.
02:36If Shador was a quarterback, if he wasn't.
02:40And Deshaun Watson at the time, once they hired Todd Munkin and we were getting texts, I'm like,
02:44all right, Deshaun's going to get a real chance at this thing and he might end up starting week one.
02:47And with the veteran coaches, et cetera, et cetera.
02:50All right, let me go back to it.
02:53Is this year you could take it as a waste of time or I could say, well, this is another
02:56developmental year for some of our young guys.
02:58I'm thinking big picture.
02:59It's another developmental year for some of our young guys.
03:02We've got to get our offensive line figured out, all those other things.
03:05Now let me get to next year.
03:06I'm not taking third-round guys.
03:08So if there's a Carson Beck next year, I'm not interested.
03:11If there's a Haynes King next year, I'm not interested.
03:16I'm not looking for other diamonds in the rough here.
03:18You've got your second first-round pick.
03:20We're not assing off with this thing.
03:22I've got my list of quarterbacks.
03:24There's not going to probably be eight to ten quarterbacks taken in the first round.
03:28I don't think that this is going to be 83.
03:3083, eventually it's going to narrow it down.
03:33But I don't think it's going to be like last year where there were five guys being brought up
03:36and then there was really one guy.
03:38I know Ty Simpson ended up going in the first round, but there was really one guy at the tippy
03:42top of all that.
03:43You understand what I'm saying?
03:44I'm not interested in wasting any more time than the time that people are going to accuse us of wasting
03:49right now.
03:50So if a guy's in a Browns jersey, okay.
03:52But Carson Beck don't make a damn bit of difference to me.
03:54I wish him no Will Will.
03:56He doesn't make a damn bit of difference to me.
03:57Neither does Malik Willis or Brendan Soresby or any of the other names.
04:02Because when it came to Soresby, I thought he might be a riser, but I didn't think that he was
04:08like,
04:08well, we forget using any of the other stuff.
04:12This is the guy.
04:13I need to feel as confident as possible.
04:16Like, if we get the number three overall pick and Dante Moore's there and Dante Moore has a hell of
04:20a season,
04:21turn the damn card in, print the jerseys, let's get going, and let's see if this kid can rip it.
04:26Or we'll go back to the drawing board in four years again.
04:29Like, that's what I'm talking about.
04:31Like, Baker Mayfield did not work out here, and we know that it's up in the air right now in
04:36Tampa Bay,
04:36which if you heard Jason Light, he avoided that question very strongly.
04:39And then Todd Bowles and Jason Light said that he was still the franchise quarterback.
04:43And it's like, well, you're not treating him like that.
04:46Yeah.
04:47It didn't work out here, but I could say you went for the gusto.
04:52You went for a guy.
04:53He's still a pretty good quarterback.
04:57It just got obviously very ugly very soon.
04:59What can we learn from that to make sure it doesn't happen like that in the future?
05:02Well, let me ask you this.
05:03We get criticized at times, especially during camp.
05:05All you guys do is do hypotheticals.
05:07I got a good hypothetical for you.
05:08Well, yeah, when you're not a good football team, you got to sit there and do hypotheticals.
05:11That's how that works.
05:12What if Todd Bunkin went up to the office, Andrew Barry, and said, I want Carson back.
05:17Go get me Carson back.
05:18I coached him.
05:20We've done great things together.
05:21Go get me Carson back.
05:23What would Kenny say about that?
05:25I'd go, why didn't you say anything back in April?
05:28Right.
05:28Maybe he did.
05:30I mean, who knows?
05:32Well, now that Carson Beck just did this, the price went up.
05:34I'm not giving up any more draft capital for Carson Beck.
05:37It is funny how that works, though.
05:38You're right.
05:39But this is...
05:40Of course, it is the Browns, so I wouldn't be surprised if we had Carson Beck by the time
05:43September comes and Shador and Dylan are both gone.
05:45Well, I bring it up.
05:46I bring it up.
05:46I brought up the example earlier in the week about way back one, 2007.
05:51It actually worked out for the Browns.
05:53It did.
05:53The guy that won the quarterback competition that year, and it was supposed to be a fair
05:57quarterback competition, Charlie Fry.
06:00He started the first game of the year.
06:01Which I'm sure people said that.
06:03And they traded him.
06:03And I'm not saying not to make a move just so you look good, but that should have been
06:07an indictment on the coaching staff, even.
06:09That's always.
06:09Absolutely.
06:09It should be an indictment.
06:10That's why I keep saying.
06:12And if you want to listen to it, fine.
06:13If you don't want to pay attention to it or you want to accuse us of saying things that
06:16we don't mean, fine, I don't give a damn about that.
06:19But I'll tell you about this.
06:20If you go into this season and Deshaun Watson ends up being the starting quarterback and
06:25he sucks out loud and Shador Sanders goes in there week three in the first home game
06:30and he just lights it up all over the place, yeah, I'll feel really great that Shador Sanders
06:34had a good game and we hopefully would have won that week three football game.
06:38But we have to have a segment or many about the confidence level of Todd Munkin and this
06:44coaching staff where you went through an entire off season, you went through an entire
06:48training camp, an entire program, and you got to this thought where you didn't see Shador
06:54Sanders doing any of this.
06:56Like that's, that's what I would have to do.
06:59It's uncomfortable.
07:01It's not fun.
07:03It has to be done though.
07:05And so even though that, yeah, it looks like a lot, but yeah, I know we've waffled back and
07:11forth this week and there was a time coming off that practice that I thought, man,
07:14maybe Shador, maybe Shador really has a crack at this thing.
07:18Maybe my tide is turning here.
07:20I would still say Deshaun Watson is in the lead to start week one.
07:25Doesn't mean that I don't reserve the right.
07:27And I, I understand that he reminds me of bad football and I'm ready to move on.
07:31And I think a lot of Browns fans agree with me.
07:34I'll be open-minded to Todd Munkin.
07:35I'm not going to rip Todd Munkin that much harder just because my goalie didn't get to
07:38start.
07:39I, I, I want to be fair, but I'm also going to be fair in the criticism too.
07:42I do wonder if the, the Todd Munkin honeymoon goes away immediately, if that was the case,
07:48if it's Deshaun Watson out there.
07:49And again, it's not till the end of September, but game three against Carolina is your first
07:54home game.
07:55Well, and if they're Owen two and it's been bad quarterback play, like, could it be as
08:01easy as, all right, we'll go to Shador.
08:03The honeymoon is going to end immediately, immediately because I have to have a conversation and people
08:09aren't going to want to hear it.
08:09And I told you about this in the opening segment, I'm not ready to do it now because we haven't
08:14even got to the first preseason game, but you cannot discount, or you can't look away
08:20from, Hey, that's two Browns coaches.
08:23And I guess you can just try to blame it on the Browns.
08:25Maybe that's the case.
08:27It's, it's easy to do.
08:29That's two Browns coaches that haven't seen the specialness in Shador.
08:32Two, two coaches who are completely different.
08:34Their ideologies are different.
08:36They could not attack the game more differently than Kevin Stefanski and Todd Munkin.
08:40And the last guy to, to, to believe in how special Shador is, is Dion.
08:46That is not good.
08:49That will be a serious conversation.
08:51If it happens, I don't want to have it yet.
08:53Seems ghoulish right now.
08:54I think the both guys, I want them to be neck and neck.
08:56I would say that Deshaun Watson is in the lead as much as I don't want to, because I want
09:00Shador Sanders to start.
