00:19You've been completely unavailable, and when you have been on the field, it's been terrible.
00:22I've been on bad teams. I know what it's like to look forward to road games, right?
00:26But, like, to sit and whine about it at the microphone, again, when you still have the highest guaranteed contract
00:31in the history of football,
00:32right, we're not even talking about the debacle that is the off-the-field issues.
00:35It's so out of touch. I don't get the whining. No one wants to hear it.

00:46There's some players going after—well, it's not just that.
00:48There's some players going after the fans after what happened a couple of weeks ago,
00:52like James Harrison, of all people, saying that Browns fans needed to be raised better.

00:57But there's a lot of former QBs who are like, what are you doing saying that?

01:02Like, there's been a bit of a line of former guys who have played the position
01:05who have had to give those press conferences afterwards,
01:07and they have not been nice to Deshaun Watson over that.
01:11That shows you what type of position that is, man.
01:14Like, there is—I can't find a lot of QBs that have sympathized with his position basically whatsoever.
01:20Yeah, I mean, I wondered—it had to be three years ago.
01:25I wondered if he had the mental ability to even play this position because we saw all the stuff that
01:32he was so good at,
01:34all the gifts that he had, they're all gone.
01:36I mean, it seems like everything is gone from the player that—I mean, so long ago, people don't even believe
01:42he was good.
01:43Like, I see that now.
01:44People are like, no, he actually wasn't even good in Houston.
01:46I'm like, no, you guys are wrong.
01:47He was really good in Houston.
01:49Like, he was young.
01:51He took the league by storm.
01:53You couldn't find a bad story about him, and he was going to the playoffs.
01:57I know he had the 4-12 season where he put up a bunch of yards,
02:00and people started to take that as what his whole era in Houston was.
02:06No, he was a good quarterback.
02:08And even after that situation and the accusations and him being out of football,
02:13still a bunch of teams went after him.
02:16They still thought he had a chance to be good.
02:18The guy that we've had from moment one was not that guy.
02:23And it's not ever coming back.
02:25And yesterday, funny thing it was about that game—I mean, it's not too funny for Browns fans—
02:29is I heard you, start of the show, I've heard everybody talk about how bad he was.
02:34I'm like, man, he's played way worse for the Browns.
02:36Like, that's a sad thing.
02:37I've seen him play worse games.
02:39And, in fact, way worse games than yesterday.
02:42I mean, yeah, he was, what, six incompletions yesterday and ended up with serviceable numbers?
02:48But we all saw—I mean, he was really bad.
02:50But I've seen him even worse and have bad stats.
02:52That's crazy because yesterday was trash, and I—
02:55But he's had games with way worse numbers, too.
02:57Well, I can't—I can only watch last week's game, and I can't go any further into that.

03:55and a lot of the reporters told us Shador wasn't good in training camp and preseason.
03:59So, like, we have to—and he did have the good preseason game the last time we saw him.

04:06Let's not make it sound like one guy was 10 steps ahead of the other.
04:11Like, I couldn't find anybody or anybody with actual intel that, you know,
04:15had discussions with people inside the building.

04:18Shador wasn't good either.
04:19And I totally get what you're saying there, and maybe he's just not great.
04:23You know, I hate to use the term gamer, because I think it's just a—
04:26I think it's an excuse for people to be lazy in practice
04:29when they say guys are just a gamer.
04:31But I can't find another better word for it, because I think sooner or later,
04:34and I think it's going to be sooner than later,
04:36if he can't get the words out or if he can't get the information out in a huddle or something,
04:40you're going to have to find a language that works.
04:42You're going to have to find something that works.
04:44Because part of the position is not being afraid to play the position.
04:48And he's playing like any of us would out there.
04:51Scared. Scared.
04:52If you dropped anybody listening into this, unless you are an NFL quarterback yourself listening to this,
04:59anybody listening to these sentences right now,
05:01if I dropped you in there on that field that you had to go play QB,
05:04you'd be—you know what—and down your leg.
05:06And so would I.
05:07And he's playing like that.
05:10The cautionary stuff, the screen.
05:15Did you see the screen that he looked like he was afraid to throw?
05:18Like, oh my God, is anybody going to pick the screen off?
05:21Because actually, one actually did get tipped.
05:23So he's bad.
05:25And sooner or later, and it's got—it's just—it has to be sooner.
05:28I've got to get somebody in there that's just not afraid to play it.
05:31And Shador, say what you will, ain't afraid to play the position.
05:36So if he can't get the information out,
05:38you better find new language to give out there,
05:39get better information or simpler information to get out there if you can.
05:43Because this can't go much longer at this level.
05:45Todd brought that up when he was asked about the plays,
05:49Gideon, and, you know, Deshaun.
05:52There were like three notable occasions,
05:53and the broadcast was all over this,
05:55between McCarthy and Turbo.
05:58They were all over it, talking about—and the camera was right on him—
06:02about how long it's taking, and then he's trying to make adjustments.
06:06And the one that he got the penalty down at the five-yard line,
06:09he's clapping, the ball's not being snapped, but it was already late.
06:12This is in practice.
06:12No, this was yesterday.
06:14And what I want to know is, a couple times they showed Watson,
06:19and he's saying so many words, and after the game,
06:24Coach did say, we might have to look at our language a little bit.
06:28Like, why is this stuff so complicated?
06:31Why does it have to be?
06:32And are they getting it in quick enough?
06:34Because when you have—
06:35I mean, they have the helmets.
06:36They have the receivers.
06:38I should have been listening to you, because I was thinking when Shador had the delay of game
06:42of practice and the runoff, and they got mad, and that was like the end of the session
06:46and the end of the practice, basically.
06:48I was like, well, I had a delay of game yesterday.
06:50That turned—I mean, first and 10 with a hold, and then delay of games and false starts
06:54turning into first and 30.
06:55We're trying to put a ball in the end zone before the end of the first half here,
06:58because 24-7 wouldn't have looked that terrible.
07:00It still wouldn't have been good, but at least you're going,
07:02okay, it's still within three scores.
07:03Can we go out there and can we do this now?
07:05Like, you're getting something back, but you turn into first and 30.

07:10And I go, I got another guy who could delay a game penalties out there.

08:59As far as a rookie's concerned, we'll cross that bridge when we get there,
09:02because that's part of the reason why you have so many picks.
09:04And it's part of the reason that Deshaun Watson is still on this roster,
09:07because you can't take an $82 million or $86 million cap hit
09:11going into next year.
09:13If you take that rookie, you're going to want to put some free agents around him,
09:16not just the draft, to try to make it a little bit more hospitable.
09:18Because you do not have to start that guy week one.
09:21I know a lot of people expect you to start that guy week one,
09:23especially if they have certain last names.
09:25But you don't have to start that guy week one.
09:27You can go out there and get somebody who's a placeholder,
09:29like what the Raiders are trying to do.
09:30That's perfectly all well and fine.
09:32But that again, and that's a discussion for all winter long.
09:35For this situation, again, I just keep coming back to it as,
09:40I'm eventually, because my quarterback is afraid to play the position,
09:44I'm going to start to cost myself not just football games,
09:47development for Casey Concepcion.
09:48Like, honestly, I did not care.
09:50The game was lost.
09:51I thought it was lost anyway.
09:53I thought it was going to be a long afternoon.
09:55He put the ball on the ground, so what?
09:56One of the best decisions I think Todd Munkin made,
09:59if any were good decisions yesterday,
10:01get the ball right back to Casey Concepcion after the fumble.

10:05Hey, you're a big part of this offense.

10:20that Denzel Boston was able to find the end zone.
10:22The quarterback throwing to him probably shouldn't be throwing to him
10:25for very much longer, but it was a great thing for him.
10:27Like, I got to take some of the good things,
10:29because I think it's going to be just a long season,
10:31and it can't all be putrid.
10:33Or, yeah, that next QB who comes into this situation
10:35is going to be in a real big mess.
10:36Look, the coach will probably say today that,
10:41hey, you know what?
10:42Things did get better.
10:45Deshaun looked more comfortable in the second half.
10:48But you and I both know what happened in the second half.
10:50It's not a real game anymore.
10:52It was not a real game.
10:53So, yeah, Watson actually looked like he could throw a little bit.
10:56Again, just a few throws that were a little further down
11:00than just the checkpoint Charlie that he was administering there
11:04in the first half, but Munkin can say that,
11:06because he's a coach, and he'll have to say that.
11:08But do you, me, anybody else in the world have any faith
11:13that Deshaun Watson's going to build on that second half
11:16and that deep ball at the end of the game?

11:25But I really want to know, it can't just all be on Deshaun Watson.

11:37and down the field in the second half.
11:38You had a whole defense get roasted out there.
11:40You had bad decisions that were made in the coaching.
11:43You had bad decisions that were made.
11:45The best thing I could maybe give you was George Warhop,
11:48I thought, did a pretty good job,
11:49and that's about it with his offensive line.
