00:00Two things took a very reasonable conversation and made a turducken out of itself.
00:07A turducken, yeah, the chicken-turkey combo from How I Met Your Mother.
00:10The first one is that Dylan Gabriel is in his 21-day window where the Browns either have to activate
00:17him or shut him down for the season.
00:19Again, we knew this was coming up when they put him on the IR at the start of the season.
00:23The second one was the Dan Graziano report that Shador Sanders could be available via the trade ahead of the
00:31trade deadline, which immediately annoyed me.
00:35Like, just the idea of the Browns wanting to trade Shador at any point, unless somebody gave you something that
00:41was head and shoulders above his value,
00:44the idea of trading a quarterback when you've got a quarterback that hasn't played 17 games in the entirety of
00:50his time here in one season in Cleveland,
00:53I would be furious if right after Shador got traded or Dylan Gabriel got traded, if they turned around and
01:02then Deshaun got hurt.
01:03And Deshaun got hurt.
01:03It'd be the most predictable thing in the world, and I think the Browns are smart enough to understand that.
01:07Well, but what you just said there is interesting, though, because you're like, you know, if you traded Dylan or
01:12Shador,
01:13how this becomes interesting is, do the Browns think that either one of them is going to be satisfactory enough
01:18to be the backup quarterback?
01:19Like, as Deshaun Insurance, if you just think that Dylan or Shador are good enough to satisfy that,
01:25then in theory you could trade one of them, especially if you believe, as we've been talking,
01:29that whoever you draft next year, once you draft that guy, you're cleaning house with the quarterback room as is.
01:34What I think is interesting about Dylan versus Shador is there's what you value as a backup,
01:40and then there's what you value as a starter.
01:42In-game, you just want your backup to go in there, run the offense smoothly, and not screw things up.
01:49I think if you ask Browns fans, or if you ask the Browns, hey, who do you trust to do
01:54that more,
01:55it might be Dylan Gabriel still from this offseason, right?
01:59Maybe.
02:00But when you want somebody to start, you don't just have to operate the offense efficiently,
02:05you have to go out there and make plays, and that's where Shador is the clear winner,
02:11even above what I think of what Deshaun has done to this point.
02:14Like, Shador is a playmaker.
02:15That's one of the reasons why I liked him last year and why I wanted him to start.
02:20Neither should be gone, though.
02:22And so I thought it was funny.
02:23I'm going to play this, and I want – it's not going to – I'm going to sound serious.
02:28I'm playing this in jest, but it was Daryl Ryder, and I can't tell.
02:32Was this from today or was this from yesterday?
02:34This was probably the one from yesterday.
02:36Because he said this on his show yesterday.
02:37Yeah, yesterday with Padone and Coach Riz.
02:40And I think he said something very similar with the Morning Boys today,
02:43talking about who could be the odd man out for the Browns.
02:47I think Shador Sanders very well could be the odd man out here.
02:51I don't think that they're going to trade Dylan Gabriel.
02:53They're not, obviously, going to move Taylor Green,
02:55and they're not going to make Taylor Green your backup quarterback either.
02:59So that leaves Shador Sanders.
03:01They're not going to keep four quarterbacks.
03:02I just – I don't think that they can do that.
03:04Todd Munkin certainly, at least during training camp,
03:07didn't sound like he was crazy about that idea.
03:09Shador clearly wants to play.
03:11He's not going to play here right now.
03:12I think the original plan, obviously, was to have Shador take over for Deshaun
03:17if things went south early in the season.
03:19Well, they went south in week one, but they've not gone south since.
03:21And this is where it became German smut to me, all right?
03:25Because there's the valid conversation of you've got four quarterbacks.
03:29At some point, you are probably going to want to activate Dylan.
03:33What do you do?
03:34Valid conversation.
03:36Nothing has changed since the training camp ended, since the preseason ended.
03:41So the idea that we would get to the point of,
03:43and that's why Shador is going to be traded, just drove me up a freaking wall.
03:49It's like, guys, it was one good preseason half of football from Dylan Gabriel.
03:54They didn't reinvent football, so far as I can know, of one good moment from Dylan Gabriel.
03:59All right, let me take you into some of the reading on this.
04:01I had Padone on Friday, obviously, and then Padone was getting into this,
04:05and then I think he got more into it yesterday as well,
04:08is that he has been talking to people.
04:10Really, I mean, it's Dylan's agent.
04:11He's been talking to people, though, that believe that there's something that maybe it's a promise,
04:16maybe it's something that exists between the Browns and Dylan Gabriel,
04:20for him to go on the IR for the first four weeks and just kind of play it cool on
04:24behalf of the Browns,
04:25to let them see what they have in Deshaun before then they have to make this decision.
04:29So there's almost like a, we got you at play.
04:31It's complete, complete, scandalous what it is.
04:36I mean, it's NFL scandalous if it's true, but that's what Padone was going with.
04:41So in that thinking, I believed that he thinks that then Dylan would be safe in this equation.
04:47Yeah, and by the way, I think there's just a very logical explanation here for all of this.
04:53Talon Green, the whole point of the first four weeks beyond we got to see what we have in Deshaun
04:57Watson is,
04:57well, maybe we could do something fun with Talon Green.
05:00It's been four weeks, you haven't done a damn thing.
05:02You haven't even activated him.
05:03You've got your answer on whether he's going to be a part of this thing or not.
05:06So one of two things can happen.
05:08One, you can cut him and then sign him to the practice squad if there's a risk there,
05:15but he's still a six-round quarterback,
05:17or he could mythically have some sort of injury come out of the ether as well.
05:22Like maybe he trips, stubs his big toe.
05:24I've done that before.
05:25I dislocated my big toe, falling down the stairs.
05:27Ah, he's going to miss the rest of the season.
05:29It's a darn shame.
05:30Well, no problem coming up with phantom injuries.
05:32Yeah, and I feel like if Talon Green was given the option of,
05:35you get to go ahead and continue your development.
05:38You're on the IR, and you continue to get an NFL game check every single week
05:43because of your injury.
05:44You get your full boat, or we cut you.
05:48You go to the practice squad and make considerably less,
05:50and we ping you back and forth.
05:51I'm going to think Talon's into that idea too,
05:54in the same way that Dylan Gabriel might have had a wink-wink,
05:58oh, my back, oh, good Lord.
06:00I've got to sit out for the next four weeks.
06:02So what this really boils down to, though,
06:03is how much does Andrew Barry value the idea
06:07that these backup quarterbacks could eventually help them
06:09versus how much does he think they're actually worth in the open market?
06:12Like, one thing Andrew Barry loves is value.
06:14I just don't know that Chador or Dylan have enough value
06:17to even make it worth his time.
06:19Yeah, I think that's another really interesting point in all of this,
06:22of like, well, you know, he's always open for business, right?
06:26Old laser eyes.
06:27It's like, yeah, okay, but not only do you need quarterbacks
06:31to finish out this season potentially,
06:33because, again, Deshaun's not played more than, what,
06:36seven games in a season, six games in a season,
06:39but who's coming along with a third or fourth round pick
06:44for either quarterback where you'd look and go,
06:46oh, that's commensurate value or incredible value?
06:48When J.J. McCarthy's getting a fifth round pick,
06:51I feel like Dylan and Chador aren't getting anything better
06:53than a fifth round, and it's probably closer to a sixth round,
06:56and so why is this worth it to Andrew Barry?
06:58Also, and it just kills me, because it's like,
07:00the Browns are 3-1, and we're talking about backup quarterbacks
07:03in October.
07:04Like, that's what frustrated me, I think, the most
07:06when I saw Darryl, again, two videos from Darryl,
07:10Padone defended having the conversation,
07:12and it's like, what do we do with the fourth quarterback?
07:14It's a fair conversation.
07:16Is it Chador or Dylan that we're trading?
07:19It feels like a giant step, and certainly Darryl,
07:22and again, Darryl can be a little bit of,
07:24well, there was that report, so I'm going to go ahead,
07:26and that's now impacted my opinion.
07:28I get that.
07:29Recency bias is all the rage these days.
07:33I think Chador's going to be traded.
07:35I don't know what the hell we're doing here.
07:36All right, so we're on the record.
07:37We don't think Chador's going to be traded.
07:39No.
07:39No, it doesn't make sense from literally any angle.
07:42It doesn't make sense, and that's the part I keep going back to.
07:43Daryl, with his steadfast sourcing, though, I was like, hold on.
07:48The Browns always tell us they're not going to do something,
07:50and then they do something.
07:51Like, if anything, that didn't help out the case in any sort of way for myself
07:54because the Browns, they like one message being out there,
07:57and they like to protect that message,
07:58and then they go ahead and operate in the shadows and do something different.
08:01I did like the logic of, well, Chador wants to play.
08:04Yeah.
08:05Wait five minutes and talk to me later.
08:07Like, they just – this idea of, like, Chador's the only quarterback
08:12that I've ever heard people talk about, well, you know, Chador wants to play,
08:15as if that's different than any other quarterback in the NFL.
08:18Yeah, as if he's alone on that one.
08:19Dylan Gabriel wants to sit at home, cash NFL checks, and eat Oreos.
08:23Yeah.
08:24Yeah.
08:24You know, Carson Wentz loves holding the clipboard, talks all the time.
08:29He calls him Clippy, right?
08:31Clippy.
08:31Yeah, it's like a Toy Story character.
08:34Okay.
08:35Like Forky or Sporky or whatever that one was.
08:37It was Forky.
08:37Wasn't that –
08:38Sporky.
08:39Because I've watched Toy Story 175 million times.
08:42Wasn't Clippy the Windows clip art in the corner?
08:46Not anymore.
08:47Was it like an actual paper clip?
08:48Not anymore.
08:48I think his name was Clippy.
08:49No.
08:50He's even drawn, like, a little mustache on it.
08:52Yeah, he was like a task manager.
08:53No, actually, a prolonged mustache, not a little mustache.
08:55A little mustache means something different.
08:57Oh, jeez.
08:58But at play, it would.
08:58A lot of Germans in Minnesota.
09:00Sure, sure.
09:01The good Germans.
09:02The best Germans, some would say.
09:05All right.
09:06I'll let you there.
09:06Yeah.
09:07216-474-0092.
09:09Who is the odd man out?
09:10Again, logical question.
09:13And again, it's Talon Green.
09:15Talon Green is the odd man out.
09:17It's how they do it.
09:19Just break it down from a logic standpoint.
09:20Just use your head for just a second.
09:22If the Browns think anything of Dylan or Shador, why are they going to trade him for a bag
09:27of footballs?
09:27Yeah.
09:28Also.
09:28It just doesn't make any sense.
09:29You can't.
09:30You're not getting real value for either one of them.
09:33Deshaun has not been healthy enough for five years.
09:35The idea he's been healthy for four games, the Browns go, well, I think we can take this
09:40one to the bank for the next 13 games.
09:42I mean, he hit.
09:42In what world?
09:43He hit four weeks into every year that he was here.
09:46Now, he was starting in week 11 the first year.
09:49But yeah, like, he hit four weeks into it.
09:50Why was that again?
09:51Because I need Amazon to walk me through how he's the real story here.
09:57And oh, Browns fans don't like you.
09:59How do you feel about that emotionally?
10:00Honestly, it's one of the few times I felt like Amazon missed a hiring me opportunity.
10:04Yeah.
10:05Yeah, I could have.
10:05I would have been great at that role.
10:06Did they need you there with Taylor Rooks?
10:09Now we go to Jonathan Pino on the sidelines.
10:11A little good cop, bad cop.
10:12To break down everything that Deshaun Watson has done in its entirety in one quick two-minute
10:18stretch.
10:18And then it's like, go!
10:19And then I'm there after it.
10:20My new theory is that whatever we saw in that, on the Amazon with that interview, I don't
10:27think it's a Browns.
10:28I don't.
10:29I think it's Watson's PR team.
10:31The same PR team that allegedly paid people to try and like him on social media five years
10:37ago after the whole, you know, scandal, which might have made him unlikable to a lot of
10:43people.
10:44Did you hear the poll question that we put out on the show on Thursday?
10:47No.
10:48Who was the more hateable quarterback, Deshaun Watson or Aaron Rodgers?
10:52Because it ended up being like, if you're Amazon Prime, you had to go in that game being
10:57like, I can't believe it.
10:58They gave us the two most hateable quarterbacks.
11:00I actually just like it.
11:01The entire sport?
11:02I would have loved it if Amazon was like, this Aaron Rodgers is a real chotch.
11:06Deshaun, tell us how you feel.
11:07I think that was maybe what they were going back and forth with.
11:09It's like, do we want to go down the ayahuasca and the theories that Aaron Rodgers has and
11:13the podcast that he's going on?
11:14Potential narcissist or, you know what?
11:18Let's go with the or there.
11:20Let's go with the or there.
11:21We haven't touched on that in a while.
11:22Let's go or.
11:23Guys, he could be playing good football.
11:25We also don't need to re-spin Deshaun in whatever he is, whatever he's been.
11:32Like, you don't have to feel good personally about a guy playing good football.
11:36I know Packers fans did it for a long time with like two of their quarterbacks.
11:40Yeah.
11:41Jets fans do it.
11:42A lot of their quarterbacks.
11:43Who could forget Arch Lister?
11:45Yeah.
11:46Who could forget old Art?
11:48216-474-0092.
11:49Who's the odd man out?
11:51Huh?
11:52And do, will the Browns trade?
11:53I think you're right.
11:55It's got to be Taylor Greene.
11:56The funny thing is people really don't want to just say it and I don't know why.
12:00But they could lose him.
12:01Yeah.
12:01He's a six round pick.
12:03That happens.
12:03When people talk about him, they talk about him as if he's this unicorn that was taken
12:06number one overall.
12:07He's 6'6".
12:08He's 250 pounds.
12:10You're going to let that walk out the door?
12:11Yeah.
12:12Yeah, I might.
12:13Yeah.
12:13That happens fairly often.
12:15Yeah.
12:15I'm perfectly fine with that.
12:16It was a six round pick.
