00:00The weather today is providing us with a bit of a taste of what's to come later this week.
00:05By that I mean it's very warm, perhaps even hot in parts of the southeast today, but getting hotter later
00:10in the week.
00:11Meanwhile, further north and west, a fresher feel, a fair bit of cloud and outbreaks of rain because of low
00:16pressure that's lurking to the northwest of us.
00:18That's going to linger here through much of this week.
00:21And it's driving some fronts across the country and it will bring some relatively brisk winds to northern western parts
00:27in particular.
00:27Now, we've already seen a bit of rain in association with those fronts and we'll see a bit more rain
00:33and cloud across northern and western parts through today.
00:35Scotland seeing a few outbreaks of rain coming and going, similar for Northern Ireland.
00:39For western parts of England and Wales, perhaps some more persistent, at times heavier rain arriving through the afternoon.
00:45More central eastern parts of England, however, staying dry. A fine day here.
00:50There'll even be some sunshine breaking through the cloud.
00:53Perhaps the sunshine a bit hazy because of some high-level cloud, but nonetheless it's looking largely fine and dry.
00:59And with that then, temperatures rising.
01:01Mid-20s quite widely here.
01:02Perhaps highs of 26, 27 Celsius in some places, particularly around the London area.
01:07So feeling very warm, perhaps even hot for some of us.
01:11Now, elsewhere, because of the cloud, the breeze, well, it is going to feel a little bit fresher than towards
01:15the southeast.
01:16High teens, low 20s, that kind of thing.
01:19Into the evening and the swathe of wetter weather across parts of the west-southwest, that will feed further north
01:24and eastwards.
01:25Most of us will see some rain at times overnight.
01:28There will also be some drier weather, but plenty of outbreaks of rain.
01:31The odd heavier bursts mixed in with them and the rain looks like it could last for a little while
01:35as it pushes through each location.
01:37Parts of the southeast staying largely dry, but even here a few spots of rain making their way through.
01:42Because of the cloud and the relatively brisk flow across us and the outbreaks of rain, temperatures aren't going to
01:48drop a huge amount.
01:49It's going to be a warm, muggy night.
01:51These are our minimum temperatures, mid to high teens for many places.
01:55Could be a little bit uncomfortable for sleeping.
01:57And there could also be some murkiness, some low clouds, some coastal fog perhaps around some southern and western coastal
02:03parts first thing on Wednesday morning.
02:05Otherwise, through Wednesday then, it's a cloudier, wetter start to the day than today for many places.
02:12Outbreaks of rain quite heavy in places, particularly across central and southern parts of England.
02:17They will clear away towards the east through into the afternoon, but a few showers following in behind here.
02:23Meanwhile, across Scotland and Northern Ireland, perhaps slightly more showers, but there will be some drier, perhaps even brighter breaks
02:30in between those showers.
02:31And in the sunshine, not feeling too bad, but temperatures for many similar to today.
02:37High teens, low 20s in the southeast, temperatures down a couple of degrees, mid 20s perhaps at best.
02:42Still feeling a bit warm and muggy though.
02:45Later on in the week, we are going to stick with northern and western parts, staying quite cloudy and there
02:50will be a bit more rain at times and a cooler feel here as well.
02:54But towards the southeast, well, temperatures are set to rise.
02:57High 20s, perhaps even low 30s by Friday, which means we could technically have a heat wave here as we
03:02head into the weekend.
03:04But for more information about how temperatures could rise even further next week, check out the deep dive, which Aidan
03:09will be bringing to you later on.
03:11Bye-bye.
