REDBUDDD 450 MOTO 1 IS UNDERWAY! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Welcome back to GLOBAL RACING for the premier class gate drop at Round 7 of the 2026 AMA Pro Motocross Championship! The crowd is absolutely deafening here at Buchanan, Michigan, and the track has officially turned into a pure survival test for the heaviest hitters in the world.

This is PART 1 of our 450 Moto 1 coverage, breaking down the explosive opening laps and the tactical chess match of the first half of the race!

As the 40-man gate slammed down, the horsepower of these massive 450cc machines absolutely ripped into the heavy, deep RedBud soil. The battle into the legendary first turn was pure chaos as the top riders fought for the holeshot and the crucial clean air. With the track conditions already deeply deteriorated from the morning sessions, finding traction and navigating the massive, square-edge braking bumps right before the faces of the leaps became an instant challenge.

Up front, the pace is absolutely relentless. After nailing their morning qualifying marks, the leaders are executing a high-speed game of chicken through the rough Michigan clay. Every single corner is a minefield of slot-car ruts, and one wrong line choice means losing crucial momentum or getting caught in the heavy, blinding roost of the 450 powerhouses. Riders are scrubbing hard, searching for creative inside lines, and testing the limits of their chassis to establish dominance early in this high-stakes first moto.

The intensity through the opening ten minutes has been completely off the charts, but the real question is who can maintain this insane physical endurance as the track gets rougher by the second.

This is just the beginning of the war. Stay right here because PART 2 is dropping next to show you exactly how this brutal battle ends!

00:00Multi-time MXGP champ, the nine-time champ, Tony Carolli, now a test rider.
00:06Budikati is going to come race the next three rounds of Pro Motocross here in America.
00:10Hey, subscribe-y!
00:12So you don't miss the next motos.
00:15Always friendly and fun to hang out with.
00:17See how it can get in the top ten against these guys.
00:20Oh, there's an empty gate.
00:22What's that maybe Noren spot?
00:23Usually there are alternates that move in.
00:26Too late now.
00:27Rebs are up.
00:30Gates down.
00:34Prado on the inside.
00:37Jet from the middle.
00:39Side by side.
00:41Prado to the whole shot.
00:42Great start by all three of these guys.
00:44Hunter Lawrence is going to slide up past his brother, Jet Lawrence.
00:49Oh, Prado's fighting him for it.
00:53Hunter on the outside.
00:56But Prado locks it down.
00:58Hunter understands.
00:59Got to be in front.
01:00At least the number 18.
01:01Is that hey, Deegan?
01:03That is Deegan.
01:04And not quick to get back on the motorcycle.
01:07Is it torn up?
01:08And now we hear Plessinger was down on that as well.
01:12Yeah, that actually looks like that's the first corner.
01:14Oh, no.
01:17Plessinger getting help to get off the racetrack.
01:20Oh, man.
01:22Jet Lawrence makes the pass.
01:23Back past his brother, Hunter Lawrence.
01:25Maybe not.
01:26No, I got it, James.
01:27You're right.
01:27That was close.
01:29And that has been the story of the season for AP.
01:32Every time it looks like he's starting to trend in the right direction.
01:35Something goes wrong.
01:36Hope it's not too serious.
01:38Deegan now back on the bike.
01:41It's like Deegan was trying to figure out his bike.
01:43Maybe handlebars, but good to see him back up.
01:47But the story, Jet Lawrence makes the pass back past his brother.
01:53Very important going back to these two because these two have been close all year long.
01:57We've seen Hunter have been stuck behind him when he's been close to Jet and vice versa.
02:02So pretty important pass by the number one.
02:05But you want to see what Prado can do from the front.
02:08His starts have been good this year, but the Lawrences have had that track position.
02:12This is Jorge Prado's specialty.
02:14I talked to him yesterday, and he said one of the main things he's learning now that he's back to
02:20being a frontrunner.
02:21It was a tough season in America last year.
02:23He said, man, I'm not used to tracks that have different lines on lap one.
02:26I stick to one line.
02:27They go by me, and I'm like, where did they find that?
02:29Now he's got the track position he wants, Jet.
02:32Yeah, and I think this is a really important race, big picture for Jorge Prado.
02:36Because like you said, Jason, this is what he does well.
02:38He races well from the front.
02:40We just simply haven't seen him at the front all season.
02:43The closest was the opener, and he was really in the rearview mirror of Hunter Lawrence all day.
02:48I want to see what he can do with this.
02:50And remember, he got a hole shot at this very race a year ago and led for quite a while.
02:54But when you're thinking about where do we go from here for Jorge Prado right now, right here is a
03:00big moment.
03:00Yeah, I agree with that.
03:01And for him to be able to find that confidence and start believing, because it's been a few races since
03:07he's been up front, this track's going to help him.
03:09We know how difficult it is to have.
03:11So maybe he can have that time because of the track.
03:13It's going to be harder for those guys to really work their way around.
03:15Now, we know what Jorge can do when he's feeling confident.
03:21Yeah, so James, if Jorge's telling me that he's got to get used to how multi-line these tracks are
03:26and look around a little more,
03:27if it's muddier and a little more one-line today, does that take that adjustment out where he can just
03:32go where he thinks it's already fast?
03:34Yeah, you don't have to look around because there's only really two lines for right now.
03:38But I think what he's going to find out is that, you know, again, these guys will figure out how
03:42to continue to do that and make the passes.
03:46So Jorge has to continue working on that.
03:48Yeah, he said he'll see Hunter go outside and say, what are you doing out there?
03:52And the next thing you know, Hunter gains ground on him, pulls away.
03:55So that's what Prado's adjusting to.
03:57Looking good right now.
04:02Looks like Jet has locked in this second-place spot for the moment over Hunter.
04:06And now we have the replay of the start, trying to figure out what happened to Deegan and Plessinger.
04:12Yeah, you're going to see these guys in the middle.
04:15Pretty good start here.
04:16AP's going to be up there now.
04:19Aaron Plessinger loses the front end, and then you're going to see Deegan come in and get hit,
04:24get caught up in here.
04:26So, unfortunately, when you're up front and you go down, it's easy for everybody else to get collected.
04:31And, unfortunately, for Aaron Plessinger, he's getting the worst end of that deal.
04:34Katie?
04:35Yeah, bad deal for him.
04:36And also, Hayden Deegan, and just talking to Brent Duffy, he said that his steering is quicker than lever is
04:41knocked down.
04:42As Hayden Deegan just went by the mechanics area, the team was rally-toweling him.
04:47You know what I mean?
04:48Their towels were spinning around for him.
04:49There was no pit board.
04:50It just was trying to get him up and going again.
04:53Yeah, Katie's 35th right now.
04:55I would presume he was 39th.
04:58Certainly, Plessinger, who didn't even get back in the race, wasn't ahead of him, but probably everybody else was.
05:02So, Deegan, a long way to go.
05:05It's like Jet Lawrence closing a bit on Prado.
05:08Yeah, there's certain parts of this track where Jorge kind of gets away, and then Jet will close up.
05:13So, just like we saw in that 250 class, you've got to pick your spots, and I'm sure Jet, they've
05:18been watching the broadcast while they were getting ready.
05:21So, they have an idea of where their passing opportunities is.
05:24And also, Jorge's very good at defending his position, too.
05:29So, Jorge's not the easiest guy to get around.
05:31Jet knows he has people playing this pass out.
05:38And this is a battle I think a lot of people around the world wanted to see.
05:42Jet Lawrence, two-time champion here of this 450 motocross class.
05:47Don't want to see Jet dragging that right foot.
05:49That's the one that was injured coming into the season.
05:51And then Prado, two-time champion, 450s there at MXGP.
05:55But it was a rough season for Prado last year with Kawasaki.
05:59This is the type of battle people around the world have been anticipating for years.
06:04Prado, much better this year, and ready to do battle with the number one.
06:08Yeah, I'm excited to see what Jorge does here because every lap that he leads, he's just going to start
06:14falling back into what he's done in the past.
06:16And that's win championships, being able to compete for the lead.
06:19So, every lap that he goes, it'll be better for him.
06:22But at the same time, with Jet Lawrence, he understands, you saw him take a look back at his brother,
06:28see where he's at.
06:28And I love Jet Lawrence, I'm probably feeling pretty good at the moment.
06:39Ah, he just loved the crowd when they come through that sand roller section.
06:42And now to the Rocco's leap.
06:44Will anyone get it?
06:52Jorge's got it.
06:53Jet as well.
06:54And Hunter.
06:56Such a good feeling.
06:59Great opportunity for these guys to get a little breather too as well over that jump, JT.
07:04Yeah, I just want to touch on something you said there and offer a counter opinion.
07:08You said, hey, you don't want to see him dragging that right foot because that's the intro one.
07:12And I don't know about that because if you remember the opening rounds, he was so protective of that foot.
07:18Like, he would do anything but put it in harm's way.
07:21For him to subconsciously be willing to put it out there and use it, you know, as a rudder to
07:26try to help him go faster,
07:27to me it almost signals that he's not thinking about the foot anymore.
07:31And it's almost kind of back to the way, however he needs to go fast, his body's kind of allowing
07:36him to do that.
07:37You know, it's a fair point.
07:38And I'll try to take that one step further.
07:40Could be totally wrong here.
07:41We saw a couple crashes, one at high point qualifying and one earlier today, where he did go down on
07:46the right side and got up no problem.
07:49So maybe he's moving on from that.
07:51He's got one focus right now, and that's to take the lead from Prado.
07:55Yeah, it's going to be close.
07:56Now he's in that same spot where he was able to make that mistake, and that's just the champion right
08:02there.
08:02He almost loses a foot the lap before and then comes back the next lap and makes a pass.
08:07And I believe he was setting that up.
08:09He knows where the passing opportunities is, and that was one of them.
08:12Jet Lawrence is out front.
08:13Let's see what he can do with it.
08:16Check box to J.D.
08:17No problem in that section for Jet Lawrence.
08:19Prado going to fight back, though.
08:21Yeah, Jorge knew he couldn't make the pass.
08:23That's what he was trying to do, is scare Jet, let him know.
08:25And I think this is a good thing, except for that part.
08:28I don't want Jorge looking back, but this is what I wanted to see, that fight.
08:32Because sometimes in the past, when he would get in a position, as you could see Jet Lawrence getting away,
08:36he didn't have that fight.
08:38And I'm sure that's easier said than done, but he has to continue just staying there with these guys.
08:44Otherwise, he can have a problem with the 96 passing as well.
08:53So behind that lead true, we've got Hampshire fourth, Barsha fifth.
08:57Well done for him.
08:58Coming back from a back injury.
09:00Webb sixth, and then this fight.
09:02It's Marchbanks.
09:05Webb right in front of him.
09:06Marchbanks in the middle in green in the Kawasaki, and then Dylan Ferrandez.
09:11Yeah, Garrett's been riding really good these last few races, and you can tell they're making that bike better
09:17to where it's showing on the racetrack, he feels more confident.
09:20Oh, that's Barsha down.
09:23Yeah, I heard the revs, but that's normal with Barsha.
09:26So I didn't really think too much, but you know what?
09:31We might see the first example.
09:32I think his chest protector, the inflatable chest protector, a lot of these riders use might be popped out there.
09:38That's for safety reasons.
09:40So not a problem.
09:43That's the way it's supposed to function.
09:45Man, wasted a good start there for Barsha.
09:47Have not seen him up front much in motocross.
09:49It has been stops and starts for him.
09:53After Barsha missed high point with the back injury, jammed it at Lakewood.
09:59As for Marchbanks, like you were saying, he's been riding very well on this bus from Kawasaki,
10:03and it just continues.
10:05They also get around Webb right there.
10:08Yeah, we're just looking, trying to look at the position.
10:10Yeah, Marchbanks got both these guys.
10:12So I believe Cooper got held up with the other one.
10:16But now he's got about seven seconds, eight seconds up to RJ that's in front of him, doing a great
10:22job.
10:23But then you got Jet Lawrence on the bottom box here, starting to pull away from these guys.
10:28And we know what he does when he's out front, JT.
10:30Well, he's doing exactly that.
10:32James, I just wanted to ask you, listen, you've been in these kind of psychological back and forth with guys
10:37like Ricky Carmichael and Chad Reed.
10:38The best to ever do it.
10:40How important do you think it is here for Jet to kind of reestablish that he's the guy here going
10:46out?
10:46So you don't miss the next moto.
10:47He can go on to win this moto in kind of a dominant fashion.
10:49Yeah, it is.
10:51And not really, you know, I think Jet understands how good Hunter is.
10:55But I think it's more about, you know, I don't know if Jet's trying to, you know, establish that he's
11:00the man or tell himself.
11:01But really just to let everybody else know, like I said earlier in the show, yeah, on your great days,
11:06you can run with me.
11:07But the days that you're a little off and you're not feeling good, can you still continue to beat me?
11:12And I think that's what Jet does better than anybody.
11:15It's like when those guys get any kind of confidence to start believing, he just comes out to literally the
11:20next race and kind of puts some guys on notice.
11:22So when they do it again, they won't have that same feeling because he's always continued to beat him when
11:28it matters the most.
11:29And, yeah, I mean, there's no excuses.
11:31He's got a round Hunter and Jorge, and he goes on to hold them to this race.
11:36Yeah, everything that happened a couple weeks ago, that was nice.
11:38I'm still the guy.
11:40Battle for sixth.
11:43You got Harrop on the Triumph here.
11:455.11 Triumph has caught Ferrandez on the Ducati and gets LaRocco's leap to the Danish rider, the Great Dane,
11:55if you will, making the move.
11:56Yeah, it was funny watching Dylan come out that corner.
11:59He was moving his body, his behind, trying to put some traction on that bike so he can hit that
12:03leap because he knows how fast it is, and he wasn't able to do it.
12:07Ends up getting passed.
12:10Pretty solid effort for the 450 squad, Harrop and Jordan Smith at the last race at High Point, both hovering
12:16around that top 10.
12:18Been fun to have Harrop here.
12:19He's really supposed to be part of the MSGP team for Triumph, but they haven't had the 450 ready.
12:25So he raced 250 class here last year and then stayed to race to 450 class this year.
12:31They are saying he's supposed to go back to Europe in 2027.
12:35It's been fun having him here so far, Katie.
12:37Yeah, you know what, showing up yesterday, his socks are red, white, and blue all around.
12:41He's very, very loud and proud and leaning in being a Danish rider.
12:44But he was telling me about the Triumph.
12:46Remember, this 450 is new this year, so they started with a clean slate.
12:50And he said he's really surprised with how well the engine package has been right from the start.
12:54And he said with having Jordan Smith around, it's been exceptionally important for both he and Jordan working as a
13:00team,
13:00especially with that clean notebook that they did have.
13:03He did want to say this, though.
13:05He said European fans are very, very loud.
13:08He said so.
13:08He was very excited to be here at Red Bud to see just how amped U.S. fans can be.
13:15Hey, he gave himself the cheer for jumping the Rocco's leap to make a pass.
13:18So he probably just got that experience there.
13:22The Ritchie family runs this place.
13:23They're smart.
13:24They put big old bleachers right next to that jump.
13:27And that thing is packed.
13:28That segment from about 7 in the morning.
13:32Yeah, it is.
13:34And the reason this is a favor to a lot of these riders is, yeah, the dirt's great.
13:39But it's really these fans and the opportunity that when you're hitting that lead for these jumps,
13:43you're not holding a motorcycle wide open.
13:45So you can hear the fans.
13:46They get excited for the jump.
13:48So, yeah, great place, great opportunity for all of them.
13:54The champ.
13:55Yeah, let's check in.
13:56Oh, 2-2-2, Tony Caroli, the nine-time champion, 40 years old.
14:04He's supposed to be a test rider for Ducati, but he keeps coming back for a couple of races here
14:08and there.
14:08He'll be at the next three of these.
14:10We asked him yesterday about why he's doing it.
14:17Yeah, you know, I'm actually having more fun now than I was racing for podiums, to be honest.
14:24A lot of people say, I mean, why are you racing?
14:26I mean, if you cannot battle for wins.
14:29I mean, I race because I enjoy riding.
14:32I enjoy being around, you know, in the podcast area with my family and with my kids.
14:37I really like this sport also.
14:40So it's just a matter of having fun.
14:43And, of course, my mentality is still sometimes, you know, trying to push me, you know, to do the extra
14:50thing.
14:50But I try to, you know, keep it cool and see what's possible.
14:57It's really fun to see him out racing.
14:59In fact, talking with Brian Deegan right before the race, he's like, I've got to go get a photo with
15:02him or one with Hayden.
15:04Who knew that he would be next to the nine-time champ?
15:06So really cool to see that.
15:07But I'm talking with Tony.
15:09He said there is a big difference that the training he's been having, which is training for testing versus training
15:14for riding.
15:15Stu, can you lean in a little to that and let us know what that's all about, the difference?
15:19Yeah, and really what he's talking about is just really an intensity level.
15:23And when you're a test guy, you're testing for other people's sake.
15:27You know, you're testing the bike for Dylan Brandes or Justin Barsha, not necessarily for yourself.
15:32So, you know, doing the laps, and it's more of an endurance thing.
15:36So you see how he's standing up, kind of just riding around.
15:39That's what you would do as a test guy, not really pushing the envelope, but just really being out there
15:43all day for everybody else.
15:45And this is Brandes on web.
15:49Good to see Cooper up here.
15:50Yeah, now Dylan, after making a mistake earlier, makes the pass back.
15:55They're actually ahead of Mikhail.
15:57He actually went down in front of our TV thing.
16:00Oh, okay.
16:01Now we get it.
16:02So Harrop is riding well, but losing some spots.
16:05And just like that, already halfway into the moto.
16:07So a reminder to stock up on Monster Energy and we'll reset this.
16:12I would think this would put Brandes in.
