THE BRUTAL CONCLUSION TO 450 MOTO 1! πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ Welcome back to GLOBAL RACING for PART 2 of our Round 7 coverage from the iconic 2026 RedBud Pro Motocross Championship! The second half of this premier class battle turned into an absolute war of attrition as the physical toll of the Michigan clay pushed these riders to their absolute limits.

The final laps delivered pure drama at the front of the field! Slicing through the deep, technical slot-car ruts with incredible precision, Team Honda HRC’s Hunter Lawrence put on a tactical masterclass to cross the finish line and secure an epic Moto 1 victory! Right on his rear wheel, teammate Jett Lawrence (#1) mounted a furious charge through the heavy, blinding roost, managing the punishing braking bumps to lock down a massive second-place finish for a Honda 1-2. Rounding out the podium with an exceptional display of grit was Jorge Prado, who withstood intense pressure late in the moto to secure a stellar third place on the brutal RedBud track.

But the crowd was absolutely losing their minds watching the ultimate comeback story unfold further back. After a rough start or early race incident that buried him deep in the pack, Haiden Deegan (#38) put on an absolute clinic in aggressive riding. Deegan sliced his way through the field, launching over the massive leaps and scrubbing the rollers with relentless intensity to charge all the way from 37th place up to an unbelievable 10th-place finish!

The track is now completely destroyed, with square-edge bumps and massive ruts changing lap by lap, making Hunter's victory and Deegan's legendary recovery look even more insane.

With Moto 1 officially in the books, the stage is set for an all-out civil war in Moto 2. Can Hunter back it up, or will Jett, Prado, and a charging Deegan shake up the overall podium?

00:00And now we have the Herop crash.
00:01We can show you the 31.
00:05And it's done by Alfa Star.
00:07They dropped out.
00:07Hey, subscribeee!
00:09So you don't miss the next motos.
00:11So they have that inside line.
00:13You can see them lose both ends.
00:14Because that face of that jump is really hard.
00:16He's trying to push it, make a pass, and ends up losing both tires and goes down.
00:23Yeah, so now it is reset.
00:24Miranda 6, Webb 7, Herop back to 8.
00:29Cornelius Tondel putting in another good run for the ISRT Kawasaki team in 9th.
00:34This is Hunter Lawrence, and he just goes right by Brado.
00:37Yeah, Jorge just went on the outside, kind of got stood up there.
00:41Hunter, since that opportunity, has made a great pass.
00:44And you see Jet Lawrence is still right in front of these guys.
00:47So what I'm saying about Jorge continuing that fight, this is where you're really going to see it.
00:51He has to just stay there more, whether he can pass them or not.
00:54But he just don't want to let these guys go.
00:56So I think that's more of a mentality thing.
00:58But Hunter Lawrence, since it's an opportunity, my brother hasn't gotten too far away.
01:02Now let's see what the difference is, how much he learned from high point.
01:07Because I believe he rides like that.
01:09He should be able to catch up to number one in front of him.
01:16Well, that has been the question for going on four seasons now.
01:22All right, so the lap before it, Jet Lawrence ran at 214.
01:25That was where Jorge brought up behind him.
01:28So I want to see what Jet does these next two laps.
01:32Now that he sees his brother in second, and that's going to tell me a lot of what he actually
01:36thinks of Hunter and the difference between him and Jorge.
01:39Because Jet, to me, feels like now that Hunter's in second, I've got to put in a couple laps.
01:44Because I let this guy stay up around, he's going to be a problem at the end of the race.
01:47Just different mentalities on how you race each guy.
01:51That was beautiful.
01:53That was nice.
01:55Hunter's definitely hustling.
01:56There's no doubt about that.
01:58So we will find out next time around if Jet can answer.
02:00Like I said, the last three and a half years in this 450 championship, we've seen guys get close.
02:05Jet usually has something extra he can answer with.
02:08Here's another test right now.
02:10Yeah, Hunter knows that.
02:12The lap riders, he takes a look back.
02:13Jorge's not behind him.
02:15So it's all moving in front of him.
02:17And yeah, this guy, we had him, what, eighth on the fantasy pick.
02:22And I was like, no, I don't think so.
02:24RJ's been riding great all year.
02:25We've been talking about Hayden Deegan and everyone else.
02:28And RJ's been kind of sliding on the radar, just like this moto.
02:31But he's secretly been doing good.
02:33And yeah, he should be a top five every weekend for sure.
02:36So fourth place for Hampshire.
02:37He is a free agent because that team, Rockstar Husqvarna, will not return to racing next year.
02:44Now, RJ said he was trying to work on a deal with them.
02:46And then the news came that they were done.
02:48And he doesn't have an agent.
02:49So he's working all the angles.
02:51I presume the phones, the email himself.
02:54But the best thing you can do is put in rods like this.
02:57Fourth place.
02:58Yeah, and plus, you kind of know he's looking for a rod.
03:01So eighth place, I'm going to cut it for RJ.
03:03I know he's going to be up front there, but I saw him do this last year as well.
03:10Exactly.
03:11This is pretty much where he was last year in his 450 debut campaign.
03:16Kind of got forgotten about a little bit because Supercross got cut short.
03:20But he crashed.
03:21Not even a big crash, but the handlebar happened to hit him right on the top of his foot.
03:25And that was enough to put a hole in his Supercross schedule.
03:30He said he probably could have rushed back for the final two or three races.
03:34Figured to put the focus on motocross.
03:36And he's back and riding well.
03:38Yeah, and the way RJ's mentality, the way he rides a motorcycle, he's always, like, you see him halfway after
03:44the race, like, during the moto, you know he's going to be there.
03:46His whole fitness is great.
03:48So as this season goes on and guys start getting tired and they get hurt, this is where RJ probably
03:54started rising to the front even more than the beginning because this is how he races.
03:58He's always going to get stronger.
04:00Maybe these other guys start going opposite way.
04:02RJ will be there to slide in and capitalize.
04:05Oh, they will never cheat you for effort.
04:07I remember he got the overall win here several years ago in the 250s.
04:10Crashed a bunch of times that day, but just never gave up and got the overall win.
04:16So that's what he'll bring to whatever team he gets to next year, checking in with Deegan.
04:22After the first turn crash, the 38 is now into the points, 18th place.
04:28Just like Julian Beaumere in that 250 class, maybe the results won't say how good Hayden's riding.
04:34But he was down in that first corner for a while, so not only has to pass all these guys,
04:38he has to catch them again.
04:41When you're down like that and you're looking at the motorcycle kind of taking inventory,
04:44you have to know for sure, hey, I've got to make sure everything's straight and not loose and things like
04:50that.
04:51You take that moment.
04:52Yeah, especially if, I mean, you're down and you're that far back.
04:56You know the only way you can be able to catch.
04:57You can't be riding on a super bent-up motorcycle because you have to go faster than everybody else.
05:01So if the front end's there, you're on the ground, especially on the track the way this one is with
05:05all these ruts,
05:06you've got to have that front end straight, so take a little bit of extra time, and you'll make up
05:11that time for sure.
05:13So Hayden, looking for Anton Nordstrom to be the next rider.
05:18There he is.
05:19And that will be for 16th.
05:28Yeah, Lincoln fans are out.
05:30They're cheering him.
05:31They're going to be out because, I mean, it's a great ride by them, but I remember hating some of
05:35these motos back in the day.
05:36It's like I go down in the first corner, I have to make my way up, and if I finish
05:4115th, it seems like I've passed a million riders.
05:44And I'm like, oh, I have to be inside the top 10.
05:46Didn't you realize you're in the 15th still?
05:48Because he was like, man, I did all that work for five points.
05:52And another problem, he's going to expel more energy with this ride than if he were out front, right?
05:58Yeah, he will, but I know Hayden, he's got plenty of energy.
06:01He's young enough.
06:02You know, the only negative to it is sometimes when you're this far back, you don't really get the sense
06:08of the speed for the guys out front and the lines that they're taking.
06:11Luckily for him, he can go back and watch some of the races, but that's really where it comes down
06:15to.
06:15Just the appeal of once you get up there with Jet Lauren, how much faster that pace is compared to
06:20what you just rode that first moto.
06:21It's kind of a shocker to the system for a little bit.
06:32I'm just thinking about, you know, Deegan at Red, but it hasn't been all that kind to him as of
06:36late.
06:36Remember, this is the race where he had multiple crashes, really, really tough day last July.
06:42So he's probably trying to figure out where that 2023 magic is.
06:46Yeah, last year, crashing and qualifying, took a handlebar to the stomach, and then it was a rough day from
06:52there.
06:52Remember, a couple of crashes in the motos, too, as you mentioned, Shimoda got the 1-1 and was really
06:58strong for the rest of the year.
07:00Of course, Deegan won the championship and wasn't really threatened, per se.
07:05But, yeah, you would think that this would be an amazing track for him.
07:08It just hasn't been there luck-wise.
07:10A little further through the field.
07:12Hey, shout out Mitch Oldenburg there on the left side on the Liquomali Beta.
07:18And ahead of him is Mark Finnis.
07:21Now, you might briefly remember Finnis at High Point when he was with the Club MX team in the 250
07:25class a couple years ago with a good start and leading.
07:29Well, at the end of last year, he didn't have a ride, and he just wasn't doing anything except coaching
07:33and training.
07:33But he's an Indiana native, so he decided to come on out and ride here, the track closest to him.
07:41And how about it? Mark Finnis is at 13th.
07:44First race of the year.
07:45Yeah, that's cool.
07:46I mean, everybody's coming out in the ride.
07:48Here, you got Tony coming over here.
07:50You got Mark coming back.
07:53Oldenburg and now Deegan.
07:55Just another classic Corolli-Finnis-Oldenburg-Deegan battle.
07:59Seen it a million times.
08:00And Deegan busts out Larocco's Leaf right over Oldenburg.
08:04Yeah, you sense that.
08:05When you look up, you're like, oh, no, you can have that, son.
08:07I'm not going to close this one off.
08:10Well, Mitch here, he had become a Supercross guy.
08:13Had not ridden outdoors since 2019 until this year.
08:17So he's trying to get the 30-plus-two back, JT.
08:20Just nothing's going to put the old in Oldenburg like Deegan at 19 years old jumping over your head.
08:25So welcome to ProMotorCross, Mitchell Oldenburg.
08:28Yeah, welcome back.
08:29I guess rude awakening.
08:32That's good.
08:32Yeah, solid.
08:34All right, Finnis.
08:35You're going to have to deal with Deegan now.
08:38I think these two actually raced each other quite a bit as amateurs.
08:42Certainly, the careers have diverted a bit since then.
08:47I did say, hey, shout-out to you, though, Mark.
08:49You did earn national number 88 last year.
08:51That's not easy to do.
08:53No, it's not.
08:54I mean, he and I here making it.
08:56That's good.
08:58Yeah.
08:59Hey, he might earn a national number again.
09:00He's well inside the points.
09:02But here comes Deegan on the inside.
09:04And just like that, he's by that signature, Teegan, when you hear the revs.
09:09Yeah, he's going to realize, okay, so that's what those guys sent when he hates the round.
09:14I'm a little revving up.
09:14No, I don't want that fight.
09:15Nope.
09:18Still a great job for Finnis, who obviously wasn't training for this full-time.
09:25Could have Carolee in Deegan next.
09:28He keeps moving forward.
09:30It's been an interesting couple of weeks for Deegan riding in different areas to get ready for Southwick.
09:34We asked him about it yesterday.
09:39Yeah, 100%.
09:39It's cool to go to Southwick, do a little testing there.
09:42They've really been cool with me coming out there and riding, and it was good.
09:45Do a little bit of riding testing, seeing how that – I mean, I kind of know how the sand
09:49is there,
09:50but it's good to kind of get embedded in your brain.
09:52And it also helps with my riding style, trying to learn that technique of that 450.
09:56So I think it was a good thing.
09:58So we'll see if it helps at Southwick, but no matter what, it helped me.
10:02Well, he continued on his journey to go to the Carolinas as Cooper Webb, his teammate.
10:07And, in fact, they took it back to basics.
10:09In fact, they did things on those motors like two laps, no clutch, or standing up on a lap.
10:14And they really wanted to kind of just break it down, get to the fundamentals again.
10:17And that's what the team was telling me about, was it's not really the big strides, the big moves that
10:23they need.
10:23They really need to work on the nitty-gritty, and doing just that with Cooper Webb was the guy they
10:27wanted to do it with.
10:29Yeah, thanks, Katie.
10:30That's, in some ways, home ground as you watch Caroli, who would be next on Deegan's list.
10:36Home ground, North Carolina, is where Webb's originally from.
10:39And then the Deegans had moved there for a while and still don't own a house there.
10:42But they had to go to Florida, like Webb, to work with the team.
10:45So they got a reprieve there for a week or so.
10:48So this is Caroli.
10:51Actually, between them is Valentin Guillaume.
10:53And Caroli and Guillaume have raced each other forever.
10:57The Swiss native and the Italian.
10:59It's fun to see it happening now in pro motocross in America.
11:03Very familiar with each other.
11:05And then they basically never race Deegan.
11:07So you never know what you're going to get out here.
11:09You got decades of experience up here.
11:13We're only doing his thing over here.
11:16And obviously, you got the hate Deegan effect.
11:19Tell me about hate.
11:21Might have an opportunity to get inside that top ten.
11:24Or at least 11th here.
11:26George Smith seems like he's a little far ahead up.
11:30Tony's 11th.
11:31Then Guillaume 12th.
11:32Then Deegan.
11:33And then Jordan Smith is in that 10th place spot.
11:35As for Tony, when it was raining really bad yesterday and it was muddy this morning,
11:39I saw him and he said,
11:40Look, I did not sign up for a mud race.
11:43I'm like, come on.
11:44You probably raced a million of them.
11:45And he's like, yeah, but I haven't actually raced one since 2021.
11:48That's the difference, I guess, when you're not a full-time racer.
11:52But what mud race?
11:53I mean, it's a little heavier today, but it is not a full mudder.
11:56Hey, subscribe-y!
11:59So you don't miss the next moto.
12:00It's towards the end of this moto.
12:02The test guy is probably kicking in, but I know it's a good time.
12:05But, yeah, I mean, I don't blame Tony.
12:08We didn't even want to walk to the truck when it was raining, let alone come out here and race
12:12in the rain.
12:13Yes, we were begging.
12:14Can we just stay in this truck until the rain is over yesterday?
12:17Jett Lawrence in the lap traffic.
12:19Well, it's the standard fare.
12:21The gap is only 1.9 seconds.
12:23It's not a big lead.
12:24But as we said, you see this over and over and over with Jett Lawrence.
12:28He just has these small gaps.
12:30Hunter is clearly there, clearly pushing, clearly going for it.
12:35The watch says it's close.
12:37How close is it really?
12:38We're about to find out.
12:40Yeah, it's actually been really close.
12:41Hunter's done a great job at closing this gap.
12:44And it's not like Jett's really getting caught up behind the lappers.
12:47I mean, Hunter's doing it as well.
12:49Hunter's really pushing it.
12:50But just like we saw with Cole Davies in that 250 class, he's, like, by pushing on his racetrack.
12:55They're able to make that time.
12:56But one mistake, that time gets pulled out.
13:00Oh, Tondel, who had a great run going near the top 10, is out and taking a water from the
13:05fans.
13:06I was talking to his team, Bubba Paula, the owner.
13:09They were really happy with how much work he put in over the weekend off.
13:12Thought he'd have big things going today.
13:13Oh, Hunter is wide open right now.
13:15He is hustling.
13:16Yeah, Hunter's here.
13:18You know, like I was saying.
13:19Look at this.
13:20A point.
13:20Yeah, Jett's trying.
13:21Hunter's actually been the faster of the two.
13:25He actually has the fastest lap time of the race.
13:27And, I mean, he just ate up that gap like it was nothing.
13:31This is not the traditional 1.5, two-second lead for Jett now.
13:35It's wheel-to-wheel.
13:36Yeah, and especially on this racetrack, when you're in second, you know when that guy's breaking.
13:40So you can really make up a lot of time.
13:43But this race, if he's somehow able to get around his brother, which, as I'm Hunter, I know.
13:48I can see Jett.
13:49I can see the way his body language is.
13:51This is the opportunity.
13:52As I said, if he's able to get him, which he's going to have a run right here.
13:56He's going to put the power down.
13:57Jett's going to slowly close.
13:59Oh, side-by-side.
14:00The Lawrence's.
14:01Hunter to the lead.
14:02Yep, Hunter just got to get through this inside.
14:04The inside's going to funnel out.
14:05He's going to cut him off.
14:07Not important to keep his brother behind him.
14:08But Hunter Lawrence, what?
14:11You do not see this.
14:14Someone running down Jett effectively like that.
14:17Listen to the crowd.
14:38I want to hear when he gets over this big tabletop and heads to the Sand Rollers.
14:42How loud will they get?
14:44It's going to be a new leader for these fans on this side.
14:59Guys, I just want to pose a question.
15:01You know, Jett has not been able to do all the things he'd like to do.
15:05He can't ride as much as he wants.
15:06He's had to back it down a little bit simply because he's managing that injury.
15:10Now, he looked fantastic early on.
15:12Got to the front.
15:13And I thought he would be able to ride away from this thing.
15:16But the question is, are we seeing a cumulative effect here of him not being able to do all the
15:22things he's supposed to do during the week?
15:23Because he simply doesn't look very good here.
15:25The last couple laps, as James said, his body language has not shown a propensity to want to keep moving
15:31forward.
15:32Yeah, that's a great point, JT.
15:33If you've been with us all year long, which I'm sure you have, you've been hearing us talk about, you
15:38know, especially me, it's this injury with Jett.
15:41It's not necessarily on the Saturdays.
15:43If he would be able to train and test, that would eventually catch up to you.
15:47And this is what JT's talking about.
15:49This is where that endurance, maybe because he hasn't been able to put all that time on the bike or
15:53even just the bike-wise setting, he's not able to ride during the week.
15:57This is when that time has started catching up, not early in the season when everybody's trying to figure it
16:01out.
16:01And, man, really impressed still by what Hunter's did because what we saw a couple weekends ago, you could say,
16:09I haven't seen that.
16:10Jett Lawrence is up there.
16:11Hunter Lawrence just rods away and makes it look easy.
16:14Okay, that was new.
16:15But I also haven't seen this either.
16:17I've seen Jett maybe look like when Chase was riding, Eli was behind him, look in that same position where
16:23Hunter was behind him, where it's like, okay, these guys have an opportunity.
16:27It looks like he's struggling, but still able to find a way to hold them guys off.
16:31What I've just seen Hunter do is more, actually more bigger for his mindset moving forward than even what he
16:38did a couple weekends ago in high point because of the way he did it.
16:41This has never happened, and he's making it look pretty easy towards the end of the race when Jett Lawrence
16:47never gets past at the end of the race.
16:50Man, this is a great ride.
16:52Great ride if you can hold on.
16:54Yeah, that was the question.
16:55He got it down to 1.9 seconds, 1.5, but we've seen that happen so many times, and usually
17:00that's about where it stops.
17:02And then you saw Hunter just digging, and Jett, again, did not have an answer.
17:06And just like that, the 96 has taken the lead.
17:11This would be three moto wins in a row.
17:14And the last time Jett lost the lead like that was Southwick 2024.
17:19That was when Chase Sexton got both of Lawrence's late.
17:22But let's be honest, Jett was hurt pretty bad early in that season at Hangtown.
17:27And kind of the same thing.
17:28I don't think he was able to ride and train during the week.
17:30Maybe he didn't have the fitness that day.
17:32Sexton overcame him.
17:33Hunter Lawrence, first time in two years someone's been able to overhaul Jett for the lead like that.
17:39Yeah, and it is.
17:40And, yeah, you go back to what you said with Chase Sexton, the difference is Hunter just beat him a
17:46couple weeks ago, right?
17:47And Hunter won the first race dominant.
17:50So, yeah, if anybody knows how Jett's feeling during the week, it's going to be Hunter Lawrence.
17:54But still to be able to come out and execute that is huge.
17:57And the way he's doing it, you can tell he's very loose on the motorcycle, making mistakes.
18:02He's in the zone.
18:05Hey, that's a big deal.
18:06And if the race finishes the way he is, that red plate's going to switch, at least for this moto.
18:11That's quite symbolic right there.
18:13Momentum, cumulative effect, point lead for Hunter, who might be time to say is the hottest property in 450 motocross
18:22right now.
18:24Got a little wind streak going.
18:26And here's the gap.
18:27He's already pulled.
18:30Yeah, what we're talking about, to make it pretty basic, OpticJet just riding one day a week, focusing a lot
18:38on the rehabilitation of the foot instead of the normal riding training program.
18:44And certainly fitness is a massive part of this game.
18:48And Hunter's got it right now.
18:51Oh, no, and he tips over.
18:53How big a lead does he have?
18:54It was seven and a half seconds.
18:57He's got to get the bike refired and just back in the lead on the last lap.
19:05Good job, man.
19:06Good job.
19:07Oh.
19:09That was crazy because Jet actually given up at that point.
19:14That lead came even bigger.
19:15Hunter Lawrence.
19:17Now Hunter's going all out.
19:18It's their time.
19:23Yeah, I haven't seen that one either as he gets bottled up by the lap rider.
19:30Oh, he's fighting for it.
19:32There's still time.
19:36Oh, that one's got a steam.
19:41I cannot believe this.
19:47Lap rider, LaRocco's leap, and two turns from the finish.
19:53Hunter Gabbard on the inside lap traffic there.
19:56It's not going to work.
19:58Jet Lawrence over LaRocco's leap.
20:02He's won a lot of races.
20:04I don't know if he's ever won one like this.
20:08Jet Lawrence wins Moto 1 at Red Bud.
20:12Oh, you can see how upset Hunter is.
20:15He just goes in that corner, stuffs the bike, stalls it basically.
20:20Oh, my God.
20:26And you can laugh because in a way, it's just one position.
20:29In the grand scheme of the entire championship, it's a six-point swing.
20:33There's much more to play for.
20:35It's not tragic.
