00:00It's been lightning off of every start this year in the 10.
00:03Kitchin, not quite as good off the gate, but has delivered multiple moto wins.
00:08And that might have been his best start of the year in that first moto.
00:11So he's moving further forward.
00:12Yeah, he's moving forward.
00:14And I also think, just shout out to Joe Shimoto.
00:16I think Joe wrote great that first moto.
00:18He obviously went down, but you heard him on the podium.
00:20Made quite a bit of passes, more aggressive.
00:22If he gets a start, I think he'll be here and compete.
00:26Same thing with Cole Davies and Lucas.
00:29I mean, Sasha couldn't.
00:31Yeah, Sasha with the early crash really wasn't in it in the first moto.
00:35Could be different this time, although he won't have a very good gate pick.
00:38But he is a great starter.
00:39Might be able to overcome that.
00:42This is it, 30 minutes and two laps.
00:4440 riders on the gate.
00:45First moto winner is Kitchin over Hamaker and Shimoda.
00:48Will they be the ones battling for the overall?
00:51Or can someone else like Davies get in the mix?
00:54Here it is.
00:54Rebs are up.
00:57Gates down.
01:02And it is Sasha Kunin.
01:05Oh, and Hamaker's down in a first turn crash again.
01:08Was that his teammate?
01:09I believe Levi Kitchin was down as with him as well.
01:13It was.
01:14So first and second in the first moto are nearly last and next to last here in the second moto.
01:21That's who's in second place, Nick Romano.
01:24Are you kidding me?
01:26Nick Romano, who is fourth in moto one.
01:29Could he win today's overall?
01:32He's running second.
01:33But Sasha Kunin showing his start prowess in the lead.
01:37Yeah, this track's going to be a lot different than what it was earlier.
01:40They put some water down.
01:41So you saw that 450 class, how slippery it was.
01:44Got to be careful this opening lap.
01:46But great to see him up here, JT.
01:47As he makes a mistake, then gets passed by Nick on the inside.
01:51Unbelievable.
01:52Romano to the lead.
01:53Oh, almost throws it away.
01:54Sasha gets it back.
01:55All right, JT, what do you got?
01:57I was just going to say buckle up because this is what Sasha does.
02:00He is one of the best starters I've seen.
02:02And let's just give him a mulligan on that first moto start.
02:05But this is what he does well.
02:07But no one likes to push the envelope like Sasha Kunin.
02:11So let's see what he's got.
02:12Because you know after watching his brother get second overall right there,
02:15he wants to leave here with a win.
02:16Yeah, absolutely.
02:17And the one thing I was thinking about before the gate drop,
02:20you know, how many times has Sasha probably started in first gear over in Europe?
02:24So maybe that first start was just him really getting used to that.
02:28Second one was definitely better.
02:30Now he's out front.
02:31You see in that box there, you've got the two Kawasaki's in green.
02:34That's Habaker and Kitchen trying to make their way forward.
02:39Trying to figure out where they are.
02:40Looking at timing and scoring.
02:41It is 27th and 28th, at least for the moment.
02:45Yeah, they're way, way, way, way, way, way in the back of the pack.
02:49But, yeah, I mean, you can see all the chaos in the small box.
02:52Not only are they going to deal with the rough,
02:53but they've got the riders getting cross-rutted.
02:55So, got to be careful to make your way up.
02:58And if you're Levi, just stick with that number 10 in front of him
03:01as he's making a bunch of passes.
03:03So, Sasha Kunin, 14th in Moto 1 and quickly getting away in Moto 2.
03:10What an impression, a first impression,
03:12that the Kunin Twins are leaving a pro motocross today.
03:17Romano, DiFrancisco, Gordon, Shimoda is fifth.
03:21This could be an opportunity for Shimoda to get that much-needed first overall win of the season
03:27because he's going to have to deal with Romano, who's the overall leader right now,
03:31and Kitchen and Habaker are way back.
03:33Yeah, they didn't make a mistake.
03:35So, Levi's actually ahead of Seth.
03:36So, he's made the pass on him and a few other positions.
03:40But, I mean, you've got to think, Sasha's out front just smiling.
03:44His brother's smiling out here.
03:46Long ways to go.
03:47But I would say so far, the dissertation to America has been successful.
03:53No doubt about it.
03:55Even if he doesn't finish off for the Moto win,
03:56they have shown how well they can ride and what talents that they are.
04:01Will?
04:02Yeah, I just want to let you guys know, I'm actually with Sasha's brother, Lucas, right now.
04:07He's just watching the monitor that we watch the racing on.
04:09He's like, I'm loving this.
04:10I'm loving the fact that I can watch him out there.
04:12I don't think any surprise right now seeing what his brother is doing,
04:15but he's watching very closely.
04:17He hasn't gone anywhere.
04:18He's moved about 10 feet from the podium.
04:21Yes, very interested spectator there.
04:24Expect to see them back at Southwick and Ironman get to a sand track.
04:31Southwick, they could do some serious damage there.
04:33You know, but at the same time, I know this is hard pack,
04:36but this track kind of reminds me of a sand track,
04:38meaning you've got to carry your momentum up.
04:40And with the bike being down on power,
04:42it's probably allowing Lucas, being on this hard pack,
04:46to kind of ride it, I mean, Sasha, that is,
04:48to ride it like he would sand, keeping that momentum up.
04:51I mean, look at this gap.
04:52He almost got five seconds within a lap and a half,
04:54and he's got his head down, just moving forward.
04:57And at one point, he'll realize,
04:59man, I got these guys pretty far, I'm pretty far out front.
05:03See Romano in the distance back there.
05:05Going to go back to the start.
05:06Got to show you what happened to Hamaker,
05:08who I thought might have the hole shot.
05:10And just like last week,
05:12ends up getting tangled in turn one.
05:14The kitchen was down with him.
05:16There's Romano in second.
05:19And already, the gap, like you said, nearly five seconds.
05:22Good start for Leiter D. Francesco
05:24in the Rockstar Husqvarna.
05:25There's Kitchen.
05:27He is into the top 20 now, 18.
05:31And now we'll show you the replay of the start
05:33as he tries to get around his teammate,
05:35Drew Adams, back here.
05:37Yeah, Drew probably didn't recognize that it was Levi behind him,
05:40but here we go.
05:41We've got Levi highlighted.
05:43Now, it looked like kind of got clipped.
05:45Somebody gets clipped.
05:46They started leaning towards the other way.
05:48So, I believe the, it was a Kawasaki rider
05:52that got hooked on Seth.
05:54I don't know.
05:54Was that Levi?
05:55It pulled Seth down.
05:56I think it was Levi that pulled him down.
05:58But the question is, what happened to Levi?
06:01Something must have hit him.
06:02Yeah, when the corner's going right,
06:05these guys start going left.
06:06It never ends well.
06:08Man, Kitchen is making a misspeak of this field.
06:11He's already passed about half of the riders.
06:1517th now for Kitchen in six minutes.
06:20Yeah, that's good.
06:21Seems like with the track,
06:22it's gotten to a point to where the ruts are going to be the ruts.
06:25So, wherever it's flat, it's pretty much going to stay that way.
06:27So, I think it's opened up the passing opportunities for these guys.
06:31It looked like they made some smoothments on the racetrack,
06:33so they were able to hit some of the outsides.
06:35But, nonetheless, Levi's doing good, JT.
06:37Yeah, it is.
06:38And, Weege, I love what you did there with the Kitchen mints me thing.
06:41But it is a little, I think, reassuring for Kitchen
06:43when he sees Handmaker down with him in the first corner.
06:46Now, that doesn't help his points or his scoring position in this moto,
06:50but at least he knows that his championship rival up to this point
06:53is in the same dire situation that he is.
06:56So, it's not going to be as much panic.
06:57He's going to work forward, get every single point he can.
07:00But there's just that tinge of, like,
07:02oh, okay, well, it's not as bad as it could be.
07:05I think it moves in a hurry.
07:06Gage Linfield here on the 5-11 try on the 74.
07:09Catch back up to the lead group.
07:11You've got Davies, who has now moved from 6th to 4th.
07:14Shimoda.
07:15Shimoda has the overall win right in front of him,
07:18but he's actually drifted back a bit,
07:20and it's going to help Romano's cause.
07:23This would be an unbelievable story.
07:25If Nick Romano, the fill-in rider for Pro Circuit,
07:29could get the win.
07:30There he is on the 141, but he's under fire from Di Francesco.
07:34Yeah, I'm assuming Joe must have went down.
07:36He was up there, or maybe my mistake.
07:39But, yeah, the one you've got to watch for
07:42is the guy in fourth right now, Cole Davies.
07:44I do believe, like, he showed a lot of pace.
07:46He was second fastest.
07:48Actually, he was your fastest on the racetrack,
07:50almost second over Router D in front of him.
07:53So he has the pace, and he just came through the pack.
07:56So Joe better catch a toe.
07:59Okay, Joe is back going behind Davies.
08:03Shimoda's going to need a couple of passes.
08:05Got to get to Romano and beat him in this moto,
08:07because he only beat Romano by one spot in the first moto.
08:11So Romano would have tiebreaker in position
08:14if he finishes ahead of Shimoda.
08:16So at least right now, the overall win today
08:19is a battle between the green 141 of Romano
08:22and the red 30 of Shimoda.
08:24And there's a pass by Di Francisco.
08:27Yeah, Nick got caught on that outside,
08:28and can't go a long ways around to make that mistake.
08:32Router D was able to slide up the inside.
08:34Great pass, and good to see him up here.
08:36Promising Supercross season, a couple crashes this outdoor season,
08:39but make no mistake, this kid has a lot of speed.
08:42He just needs to be up front, and he can show it.
08:45Do you think Romano has any idea he's leading this thing overall?
08:49Probably.
08:49You think so?
08:50Knows his teammates down.
08:51Oh, there goes easy pass.
08:53Easy work there for the 37.
08:55Davies.
08:56Yeah, I don't know if he's pumped up.
08:58Oh, no, Davies!
09:00Goes down!
09:01Oh, no, that's going to be tough in the shower later on.
09:04We can see a little road rash up there,
09:06but that just shows you the traction or the lack thereof on this racetrack.
09:10He was pushing it.
09:11Both tires start pushing, and he goes down.
09:14Oh, bummer for Cole.
09:16So we think Shimoda might have gone down at one point.
09:19Now same thing for Davies.
09:21It is all sorts of mixed up.
09:24And Davies now back to seven of the young Australian Kate Muneer who got in front of him.
09:32Then there's Muneer at the 99.
09:35Deacon Denno, another rookie, had a good start last week on the 5-11 triumph,
09:40looking good on the 199.
09:43Then it's Davies.
09:45Carson Mumford who was quick last week.
09:48Yeah, looking at the points, Nick and Joe tied on points,
09:53Ryder D's in third.
09:54The 2PF class is making it difficult on my math problems right now.
09:58I can't deal with it.
09:59I like the single digits.
10:01Levi Kitchen is going to be in the position here in a little bit for an overall victory still.
10:06How many people struggle with that?
10:07Five out of four, baby.
10:10We're going to give you the update here on the fly racing riders in this field
10:13as Davies goes to work on Denno.
10:17Just a moment, we'll give you that update.
10:20Been in a struggle today for Jimas, again, who was the race winner here last year.
10:24He's in 13th.
10:25There's the pass.
10:27Yeah, good recovery by Cole.
10:29Probably takes him a few corners to settle back up.
10:31Hopefully, his mechanic probably told him,
10:34hey, we're still in this thing.
10:35We need to fight.
10:36Levi's in the back.
10:37He knows and understands that.
10:38Still got 20 minutes left, plus two laps in this race.
10:41Pitches to 14th.
10:43Let's hear about that rookie, Deacon Denno, JT.
10:45Yeah, and Jason, it's not so much just about Denno.
10:48It's really about the youth in this top 10.
10:50Look, you've got Sasha Kunin making his first ever pro motocross race.
10:53He's winning here.
10:54You've got Landon Gordon in, what, his maybe fourth or fifth ever pro motocross race.
10:57Caden Muneer with a similar number in sixth.
11:00Deacon Denno, his third ever pro motocross race.
11:02So the youth is really showing up.
11:04And Carson Wood was 10th, now 11th, in his first ever pro motocross race.
11:08So the youngster's really showing up in moto too.
11:11Yeah, Wood is just 16 years old.
11:13The plan for now is for Wood to race a couple of these, but not so many that he loses
11:18his amateur eligibility and then go to the Monster Energy Championship at Loretta Lins for amateurs.
11:23But if he does really well, the team might just keep Wood on full time, running 11th right now.
11:30Yeah, how good these amateurs are these days.
11:33It's probably not much easier to race an amateur.
11:35We've seen these kids come out, especially the next program, and compete next weekend.
11:42How about this?
11:44Sasha Coonan wheeling away and looking for the moto win.
11:49Not his first race in America, but he was part of the Belgium team for the motocross of nations.
11:55Was fast that day, made some mistakes.
11:57He was fast in the first moto, made some mistakes, but so far he's got it right now.
12:02Yeah, but I would say this is his first race, only because the destinations, you end up racing against 450s
12:09and stuff.
12:09So, like I said, with his brother, there's 10 reasons why this shouldn't be possible, but these kids got a
12:15lot of heart, a lot of determination.
12:16It is.
12:18Wow.
12:19Making that Roger DeCoster fly racing gear look good.
12:24Coonan's first.
12:25You look at the fly racing riders.
12:26Heimus, we mentioned before, 13th, Boland, 17th, Turner, Ross, Timbo, and Schwartz on the Bar-Ax, Toyota, Redlands, Yamaha's out
12:33there as well.
12:34So, yeah, the gear here that Fly Racing came up with is designed to look like the man, Roger DeCoster,
12:39the superstar of the sport in the 1970s, a Belgium native as well.
12:44And he manages K-10's racing operations, so it's great to be able to work with these riders.
12:49Roger is 82 years old.
12:51They are 19, so I cannot say they grew up as Roger fans necessarily.
12:56I mean, luckily, you're still in it.
12:58Luckily, they still watched you growing up, so you're 19.
13:02You still respect it.
13:03I'm glad you threw out Roger's age, because that saves me.
13:05I feel way young, but you're watching a little grown man out here and whatnot.
13:11We're just putting it down.
13:12Kids are teams coming over here doing work.
13:16It looks like Shimoda has the gap to Romano down to one second.
13:19That would be the battle for the overall win today.
13:23You see the event points on the left side.
13:25And here is that battle.
13:26They're currently tied.
13:27Romano would have it.
13:29Second moto is a tiebreaker, but for how long?
13:33Yeah, when you ask him that question, does Nick know, you're about to find out.
13:38Yeah, it depends on how he fights Joe.
13:40If Joe gets around and does he run a wheel back in on him?
13:44But overall, I would do a lot of things, and I'm sure Nick would be able to get his first
13:47one.
13:48And Joe's had one before, but an opportunity for him.
13:54Unbelievable for Pro Circuit.
13:56If Romano holds on, they'd have the first three wins of the year with three different riders.
14:01They're really showing how strong these motorcycles are this year.
14:05Here's Kitchen.
14:06More work.
14:07He has caught Primus.
14:09Yeah, I was looking at it.
14:10He's been stuck at 14 for a little bit now, but he had to make up a little bit of
14:14time on chance,
14:16and he's got to keep pushing four.
14:21And with the work Kitchen has done, he would actually take over the championship lead by one point at the
14:27moment.
14:27He throws the field over Hamaker, Seth a little further back.
14:31He's in 19.
14:32Got Darren Kelly here.
14:3677 on the MX6.
14:39Sons of our fathers, Kawasaki.
14:41Here's Kitchen.
14:42Yeah, Levi's doing really good, and it just shows you how impressive.
14:45This ride is if he can continue, because it's really hard for anyone to come up to this field.
14:50Look at Seth.
14:51I mean, he's kind of been stuck in that same position, how difficult this racetrack is.
14:55So, Cole Davies, the same thing.
14:57Really impressed that first motor with the passes.
15:00Uh-oh, it's Joe's time.
15:03Right there, James.
15:04Looking for the move of Romano.
15:05It's for the overall, the bottom box.
15:07Yeah, now if I'm Joe, I want HRC to let me know that this is for an overall with Nick.
15:13So, you know, hey, don't leave that corner open.
15:16Maybe some races Nick wouldn't come back in.
15:17But, like I said, you'd do a lot of things for an overall victory in this class.
15:22Oh, yeah.
15:23Kitchen, meanwhile, in that battle with Hymas, had feet off the pegs, and the ruts lost a ton of ground
15:28to Hymas.
15:29So, still stuck in 14th.
15:31Kunin leads the moto.
15:33Di Francisco second.
15:35But this battle, Romano and Shimoda, that all comes down to this, JT.
15:38It does.
15:39And for Shimoda, you know, I was thinking, it's been a long time since we've seen Wasabi Joe show up.
15:45You know, it's a nickname that the Hyundai HRC guys use for Joe when he's in the zone, when he's
15:50feeling it, and he goes to that other place.
15:52That's Wasabi Joe.
15:54We have not seen that, I don't know, maybe all of 2026.
15:58So, if there was ever a time to break it back out, it would be right here, right now, to
16:02grab that overall win.
16:03It's some water.
16:04It's Wasabi time.
16:06I feel like Joe's here.
16:08And like I said earlier, the first moto, he rode good.
16:10But looking at Levi Kitchen, our points leader, Seth, it is just very, very hard to make passes in this
16:17field.
16:17And as you get up, the passes get even more difficult.
16:20So, Joe's riding really good, ducking his head from the roost.
16:25He's getting an overall victory.
16:26That's probably a lot of people's bingo card, for sure.
16:30This is the battle for the win, halfway mark of the moto.
16:33Reminder to stock up on Monster Energy.
16:36Shimoda versus Romano.
16:39Will.
16:41Guys, I've been talking to Ben Griffiths, Joe Shimoda's mechanic, Shane Drew, the crew chief over there for the two
16:47teams.
16:47He's just asking, kind of, where Joe's at, you know, because the results have been relatively consistent, but not consistently
16:53on the podium up front.
16:55And they both said, this is about the starts.
16:57There's been a big focus this week on those starts.
17:00It was a bit so-so once again there in moto.
17:03To imagine the world where Joe has got these starts, because he has been the most consistent rider, really.
17:08And they said, also, we have to remember back-to-back injuries for Joe.
17:12He had that very serious upper back there, neck injury.
17:16And then, of course, you know, he had the leg, his broken leg there.
17:19So they said, that's a lot of time away from the fight.
17:21That's a lot of, you know, gate drops, a lot of confidence knocking.
17:25So the message really coming from them was, once we get a start, just watch this space.
17:30Because they're very happy with the way Joe's been moving through the pack.
17:33As you've noted, James, and we're seeing it happen again.
17:36It might result in over, but we still haven't seen him go out in front and get that win on
17:40the moto.
17:41But it just kind of helped think of it as coming.
17:42Yeah, and just going, expanding on that a little bit more, when you talk about the injuries,
17:46I felt like with Joe coming back, because he had some gnarly injuries, you know, just having that confidence in
17:52yourself,
17:52I actually believe, because he hasn't been getting bad stars, it's probably why, once he does get it, he's able
17:58to ride.
17:59Because, to me, the way he looked at first race, if you were to put him out front, he might
18:03have not erode like this.
18:04But because he had a bad start, and he had to just let loose and race and pass these guys,
18:09probably let his instincts come back,
18:14found his racing form to where now he's back, but he's got a bigger problem.
18:18His motorcycle's smoking now.
18:20Smoking Joe.
18:21He's smoking Joe right now.
18:22Look on the right side of that bike on the bottom part.
18:27Oh, wow.
18:31This is it.
18:33If the bike holds on, it's the battle for the overall.
18:35Romano hanging tough.
18:36He has improved so much on the late race endurance compared to the first weekend of the year at Fox
18:43Raceway,
18:43but has he improved enough to hold off Joe, who is maybe the toughest rider in this field late in
18:49the race?
18:49Oh, that bike's smoking a lot more now.
18:51Yeah, it's smoking, and hopefully, maybe it's just because it's overheating.
18:54I can hear Joe revving that motorcycle up, but we're at altitude as Joe tries to go around the outside.
19:00The bike's running hotter up here because they're starving for oxygen, so easy to happen.
19:05Saw it happen yesterday and even earlier today, so Joe's going to have to keep this thing and try to
19:10manage it,
19:11but I doubt he knows at this moment.
19:14JT.
19:14Oh, just remember, guys, remember Hayden Deegan last year.
19:17Oh, there's a pass, JT.
19:18He makes the move there, but Hayden Deegan basically had to milk his bike all the way to the finish
19:24line with a similar issue,
19:25over revving the motorcycle, using the clutch too much.
19:28So nothing that dramatic yet for Joe, but he could be there if he doesn't take it easy.
19:32Yeah, and I'm looking at it.
19:33It's coming out the drain plug down there, so that's actually a good thing because that is overheating.
19:38It looks like overflow.
19:40Yeah, the overflow, which is saying that bike is hot, so you might have an opportunity.
19:45It's going to be hard because he's battling, but maybe try to cool that thing down.
19:51A little bit interesting to see if they put on the pit board to stay off the clutch
19:54because when the smoke's coming out there, as a rider, do you even know it?
19:58Do you even see it?
19:59No, the only time you know it is if there's a big puff
20:01or you start feeling like the antifreeze or water getting on you,
20:04you start sliding around and not gripping it.
20:07That's when you'll look down, but Smoking Joe don't know he's smoking right now.
20:11Back with Kitchen.
20:12So Shimoda, at the moment with that pass at Romano, has taken the overall lead.
20:23Back in here because I believe he's got an opportunity to make a few passes.
20:36It's only about, you know, six seconds behind Cole Davies running in ninth place.
20:43Cole must have went down again.
20:45Well, what's wild is first of Kitchen can make this pass on Wood
20:49and put him on the overall podium.
20:50Not bad from the first turn crash.
20:52But the serious points right now, Kitchen would have a two-point lead on Hamaker
20:57and a four-point lead on Shimoda.
20:59And Beaumare, who's been solid all year, would be down only 12.
21:02So every point is big for any one of these riders.
21:06And if Shimoda's bike can't hold on, that would be an absolute disaster.
21:10Will?
21:11I just spoke to crew chief and mechanic for Joe Shimoda,
21:15and neither of them have heard over their radios that Joe's bike is smoking.
21:20So they have not made him aware because essentially right now,
21:22the team is unaware that there's potentially any bike problems.
21:26Yeah, it could be good.
21:27That could be bad.
21:29Yeah, and the reason that is because some places it's not smoking,
21:32which goes to me, it's more about it overheating.
21:35It seems like when the slower parts, it starts smoking.
21:38Like right here, you can see it.
21:40But when he gets going, it opens up and they cannot see that.
21:43So as long as Joe's smoking, he's all right.
21:47That bike could continue to run.
21:48It's when it stops, that might be the issue.
21:51Hopefully it cools down.
21:55So Shimoda in control of the overall.
21:58But here's the podium attempt for Kitchen in the bottom box.
22:00We can make the move on young Carson Wood.
22:06Carson, both of his grandparents are here this weekend to watch his pro debut.
22:09They're very happy.
22:10He has been flying out the test track.
22:12So that's why they're giving him a shot as a pro.
22:15He is right behind Mumford, who's been riding very well as a plate on the AEO KTM.
22:19That's the three-rider battle in the bottom.
22:21What a line by Levi.
22:23The same line he was using that first moto.
22:24That was even more impressive how rough it is.
22:27And now you can start to see the aggressiveness coming from Levi.
22:30He sees these guys in front of him.
22:32So if he can get these two, that's going to change things.
22:34And who knows how far he can go up.
22:41Wood really applying the pressure to Mumford.
22:46Yeah, this is going to help Levi out.
22:48These two battling.
22:50Trying to catch him while they're battling each other.
22:52A little sneak attack as Carson looks like he makes the pass.
22:56So the 16-year-old Wood showing some toughness.
23:01Oh, but he had a rough ride through that corner.
23:03Mumford trying to get him back.
23:05Not able to do it.
23:10I love this 2-50 class because there's battles all the way down.
23:13I mean, we're down, what, 11-12?
23:17Yeah, 10th, 11th, 12th.
23:18These two are battling as Levi makes that pass.
23:21And is that enough for the overall podium for Kitchen?
23:25Well, this is going to help.
23:26He just made it two for one.
23:28Logo time, Levi.
23:31So he's around Wood.
23:33Where is Handmaker?
23:3516th.
23:35And it is enough.
23:37Kitchen will go to second overall, though.
23:40Yeah, you got Cole Davies in front of him.
23:43And it's kind of strange.
23:44Yes, I agree.
23:46Yeah, the way he's rotting, you're starting to wonder, does he have bike issues as well?
23:51We heard him that first moto last weekend.
23:56Yeah, I'm not sure what the issue was last week.
23:58When I talked to Davies yesterday, he just said, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to say.
24:01We had a problem.
24:02He got 11th in that moto.
24:05Yeah, unless not.
24:06And there he is.
24:07That's not the truth to get into it, story.
24:09But Kitchen is definitely reeling him in now, James.
24:12You can see Davies right there.
24:13Yeah, and if I'm Levi, I know this is going to be one of the guys.
24:17And I'm going to fight for this championship.
24:18So that's even more motivation to try to get him.
24:20And, yeah, if he can get this pass, he's already in second overall at this moment.
24:27Is it conceivable that he could make up four more points, four more passes,
24:33and actually somehow get the overall win despite the crash?
24:37Yeah, it's going to be tough.
24:39He's got about 10 seconds to gain.
24:40But I did say he was going to be, at the end of the moto,
24:44possibly fight for his overall victory.
24:46Now, as for Hamaker, here he is.
24:48If it ends like this, he'll lose the red plate to Kitchen.
24:51But he is digging as well.
24:53He just got around Dudley for 15th.
24:59Kitchen in hot pursuit of Davies.
25:02Yeah, really, I mean, those two were down together in that first corner.
25:06So I'm sure, Seth, you know, he did a good job at fighting back.
25:09Probably going to be a little bummed once he looks up and see how far Levi was able to climb
25:13up,
25:14because he just did it last weekend, so I didn't lose that points lead.
25:17But the number 47 has been riding great all day long.
25:21Very impressive to continue marching his way up.
25:24Kitchen is 10th.
25:25If you've got Davies, that'd be one point.
25:27Dino, Meneer, Bomer, he would need to get there, I believe.
25:31And I'm literally counting on my fingers.
25:32You can verify.
25:33I'm doing it right in front of you.
25:34To get to the overall win, that would be unbelievable.
25:37One pass at a time, and he's going for it around the outside.
25:42Got it.
25:43Yeah, no, he looked like he had it, but almost like he hit, like, a pothole,
25:47and he kind of knocked his hand off the throttle and kind of stalled out there.
25:51But nonetheless, yeah, Levi's, no matter how he finished, I think this is a win today.
25:58The way he rode that first moto, to be able to come up and then ultimately, like,
26:02take over the points lead if he's able to finish this thing out with his second place
26:05after going down to the first corner.
26:07Levi's solid.
26:10And he has officially taken the measure of Davies.
26:13Again, second overall.
26:15He needs three more positions to be able to knock Shimoda off of the top overall spot.
26:22And what can you say about the moto?
26:24Oh, is that a mistake there for the 47?
26:27Yeah, he probably wanted to get to that end time, so it looked like he stalled it out.
26:31Yeah, small mistake, but no harm, no foul.
26:33He's got to get a little distance.
26:35Oh, but by the way, did he just fly over from somewhere, and he just showed up?
26:40Would look it.
26:41Yeah, he was just, like, riding in California a couple days ago.
26:44Unbelievable.
26:44Yeah, maybe first time at altitude, riding a bike on a team that he's not familiar.
26:49It's different than what he's racing.
26:50And I feel like I just saw him win last weekend somewhere else in a whole different country.
26:55And he comes over here and does it here.
26:57So far, it looks good.
26:59Yes, sweeping the motos last weekend in Latvia.
27:03And now looking for a moto win here.
27:05Now, this is Sacha Kuhn, and he's not going to make the overall podium because of the bad first moto.
27:09But what a performance here, JT.
27:11It sure is.
27:12And just thinking about their future plans, they're going to go back,
27:16and they're going to go to Italy to race next weekend.
27:19The following weekend, they go all the way down to South Africa for a Grand Prix down there.
27:23And then they'll be back for Southwick.
27:25So what a travel schedule in front of them.
27:28And just going from South Africa to Southwick alone, that is enough to ask in and of itself.
27:33But I think there's a bright future ahead.
27:35It's pretty obvious from these results.
27:38Yeah, I think I'm going to agree with that.
27:40These kids can ride, no doubt about it.
27:42The 19-year-old twins from Belgium.
27:46And the other thing about Sacha, you only saw it in this moto, he is an unbelievable starter.
27:50And that will obviously serve him well.
27:53Now, a lot of the Belgian riders and the Dutch, the neighboring country, are known for the sand riding.
27:57But the Kunens, a couple of years ago, moved to France because they wanted to get more riding in on
28:03hardpack.
28:04Because they know they need to be more versatile than just being sandmasters.
28:07So they're good on sand.
28:09But they do a lot of work on this type of terrain, and you can see it pay off today.
28:12Yeah, I mean, spoiler alert.
28:13If you can ride sand, you can ride anything, to be honest.
28:16Because they're all kind of similar.
28:18Whether it's hardpack, you've got to keep the momentum up.
28:20Whether it's mud, same thing.
28:21And so I think sand is a challenge, not only to learn how to ship the motorcycle, keep momentum, but
28:26also physically.
28:28It's really hard, too.
28:29So very impressed.
28:30But we did talk on the call this weekend.
28:34And what Sasha's doing, it's not surprising.
28:37He did say it wouldn't be surprising if he came out one in moto and had some troubles in the
28:40other one.
28:40But to me, listen to Jet Lawrence talk about how difficult their racetrack is, knowing how difficult after racing on
28:47it.
28:47But I'm impressed for them to adapt, because I know this track has not been the same each time they've
28:52been on the racetrack.
28:53Come to altitude.
28:55You know, there's a lot of pressure on him.
28:57But talking to him yesterday, knowing everything that's going on, I'm more impressed about them being able to handle all
29:02the adversity.
29:03And to come out and look like he did a week ago out front in his own series, that's what
29:09makes this kid special, not what he's doing right now.
29:12We know he's fast, but he's doing all that the way he's doing it.
29:15Very impressive.
29:18Kitchen's still trying to dig back there in nine.
29:24Oh, wait a minute.
29:25This is going to help Shimoda.
29:26He is starting to close on DeFrancisco.
29:28Could get a little insurance, because right now he's only two points ahead of Kitchen overall.
29:32But he's closing on DeFrancisco.
29:36DeFrancisco, by the way, will be looking at his first career podium overall in pro motocross.
29:45At least at the moment.
29:46But if he gets passed by Shimoda, he'll be bumped back.
29:50That JT asked for Wasabi time.
29:53I believe he's here.
29:55Joe's heating up.
29:56Joe's been heating up by his bike.
29:58He's been heating up for a few laps.
29:59We haven't seen it in a bit, so maybe no more worries.
30:03Cooling down a little bit.
30:04All right.
30:05He's heating up.
30:06Mike's cooling down.
30:07He's caught Ryder D.
30:08He's been very good so far this year.
30:11Making steps on the Rockstar Husky.
30:14Wow, is his track brutal at this point.
30:16He just sawed it out of those holes down there.
30:19Yeah, and this kind of goes back to my point, what I was saying with Joe earlier.
30:22Because he's had bad starts, he's learned how to race again, you know.
30:26And all that fear kind of goes away because there's so much chaos around you.
30:30I think that helped Joe in this situation.
30:32Because now he's following Ryder D and he's like, man, I've been getting bad starts.
30:35I'm used to pushing all the way to the end.
30:37And we know how fast he is.
30:39And so if he gets that start now, I believe that riding matches.
30:42And Joe's been riding great all day long.
30:44And he holds on another two and a half laps.
30:48It's going to be, what, third race coming into season.
30:50We wouldn't chalk that up on a good season.
30:52Only four points down, four or five points down.
30:55Yeah.
30:56Seven.
30:56Seven points down.
30:57Yeah, because Kitchens made a few spots up.
31:00But, yeah, for what seems to be a slow start to the year, seven points down after six motos.
31:05Yeah.
31:06So motos absolutely in it.
31:07And I would say probably all his championships, this is probably the closest he's been after three races to the
31:13lead.
31:14So in all, you know, hindsight, this is actually a great start to the season for Joe and HRC if
31:19they can hold this thing off.
31:21A couple more laps.
31:22That's right.
31:23Joe, normally known as a closer, doing his best work late in the championships.
31:28All over Di Francesco with two to go.
31:31So the overall today, at least as of now, will be Shimoda Kitchen Di Francesco.
31:36It almost was the dream ride for Romano.
31:39He's still riding very well, but he'd be fourth overall.
31:43And then Sasha Coonan with the moto win, but the tough 14th in moto one would be fifth overall.
31:50Ryder D.
31:51See what he's made of here down the stretch.
31:53Got to dig deep.
31:55Yeah, he is.
31:57Joe's got some good lines.
31:58You can see Joe's starting to work some of those outsides, keeping that momentum up.
32:02Start making Ryder D guess and he can make that pass.
32:09All that's going to help is just the points and close that gap to the championship because right now he
32:13has overall so for him.
32:16But Joe doesn't know anything different.
32:17Right in front of us, time to pass.
32:19You know, this guy is so strong late in the races, so this is not going to be easy for
32:24Di Francesco.
32:26Oh, Joe wanted to get to that inside there.
32:28He just missed it and couldn't, the bike wouldn't hook up.
32:38Going to be white flag next time around.
32:42Oh, you saw Joe's struggle to get over that tabletop.
32:45It just shows the lack of power on these motorcycles.
32:53Kitchen still going.
32:56Deacon Denno, though, solid at this moto on the triumphant eight.
33:01Yeah, good ride.
33:02I mean, it comes down to a lot of these kids.
33:04We talked about it over the last couple of weeks.
33:07Sasha looks like she went off track.
33:09Hey, Graham, he had a pretty big streak.
33:13Yeah, he's all right here on the 109.
33:14And about to see the white flag with a seven-second gap.
33:22Yep, racing in Lafayette last weekend.
33:25A couple of days out in California to get it used to the American bike.
33:29And so far, so good, except for this.
33:32Yep, that's a double.
33:33Ooh, that was close right there.
33:35Yeah, great riding by him.
33:37No harm, no foul gets back on the track.
33:39But that could have been really bad.
33:41He looked like he bottomed out, cross-rutted.
33:44And save the day.
33:45But back on Levi and Deacon, like a lot of these kids,
33:49I mean, it really just comes down to a start.
33:52Because they have the speed to do it.
33:54As Levi makes his way up, it's still a great ride by him.
33:57And both of these guys, Levi gets another point on seven.
34:00So now Kitchen would need two more points on this last lap.
34:04If Shimoda cannot get DeFrancisco, it's not quite over.
34:09If I look back there, can I see Shimoda still battling?
34:12And yes, Shimoda just made the pass on DeFrancisco.
34:17So that's going to make the overall map a little easier for Joe.
34:23Well, when we met these two yesterday, Lucas and Sasha,
34:27they were so happy, so pumped, especially to meet you.
34:31They came over here to say, can we get a picture with James?
34:34Which is what the fans say.
34:35This guy's good enough to win motos.
34:37And I said to Lucas, I said, are you sure you're going to be able to lock in tomorrow?
34:41Like, at some point, it's got to get serious.
34:42And they were honestly a little concerned.
34:45But obviously, when the helmet went on, they knew what to do.
34:48Yeah, but I mean, Toma, you can come over.
34:51This has been a dream of theirs.
34:52Truthfully, both of them, I would have to say,
34:54they probably lived up to the expectation this dream come true.
34:57Because when Lucas understands after Rod here,
35:00I can come over here and compete immediately.
35:03So that's good.
35:04Same thing with Sasha, what he's doing in his moto.
35:07But, man, I am really impressed.
35:11You guys hear me talk about these Rod.
35:12I'm impressed with all of them.
35:13But I get more impressed about what they do inside their head.
35:16All those challenges.
35:18And getting out and faced a lot of adversity in the different ways.
35:21And I can't say enough about what they're doing today.
35:23Yep.
35:25Transatlantic travel, a bunch of time zones, different bike, different series,
35:28tracks they don't know, formats they don't know.
35:31What worries?
35:33This one's just powered by the fact that it's the dream they want
35:36to come to America and win in America.
35:39And in the second moto, Sasha Kunin takes a moto win in Thunder Valley.
35:46And this should be enough for Joe Shimoda to take the win overall in Thunder Valley.
35:54Joe Shimoda's first win of the year.
35:56Congrats, Joe.
35:57But look at the points.
35:58Seth has made some passes.
35:59They're tied.
36:00Wow.
36:01Okay, so let's shake this all out.
36:03Shimoda made that pass on DeFrancisco for second.
36:06DeFrancisco third.
36:07Bomer got around Romano.
36:09But yes, Seth Hammack.
