00:09Hey! Subscribeee! So you don't miss the next Motos.
00:30He's confident. He's confident. Someone's got to knock him down a peg if they want to stop him.
00:36And the time is now.
00:39Rips her up. Gets down.
00:49And Davies gets the start again. Got it. It's Hymas on that Honda in second.
00:56Sounds like Will Hahn was right. He's got something to figure it out.
01:00Yeah, cold days we saw through this a couple weekends ago at High Point.
01:04The second moto was even more dominant than he was in the first one.
01:07So, scary thought for these guys. Good to see Chance Hymas up in second place.
01:12I believe that's Casey Cochran. Yeah, again. Third.
01:15Cochran been rolling. And how about this?
01:17Hymas has been showing a wheel a few times now to Davies.
01:21And now Cochran challenging Hymas.
01:25So, Casey got to be up to inside. Let's see if they worked on the track.
01:29Not this section, but Casey's going to have to close that door, which he does.
01:32Good smooth by him. Casey had speed earlier in that first moto.
01:37Did a great job of holding on, but it's going to be a tall order to follow at number 37.
01:41And Shimoda has moved to fourth, battling his Honda HRC progressive teammate, Hymas, looking for third down.
01:51Yeah, important moment for Joe. He's going to have to get around his teammates and Casey Cochran because, you know,
01:57Joe was actually the fastest rider in that first moto.
02:00But, unfortunately for him, Cole then was out front. So, you can see Cole starting to get away.
02:05We know how strong Joe is, but he can't give a gap to number 37. So, let's see what he
02:09can do in these early laps.
02:10It's Romano, that first Kawasaki. You see, where is Kitchin? 13th place.
02:17That's not going to help. The man battling for this championship into the sand rollers.
02:22Definitely not for Levi. This has kind of been the story of the year for him. Very inconsistent when you
02:27talk about starts.
02:28But, for him, let's see if Chance Hymas can go back around Casey, where JT did his track record earlier,
02:36where they worked on it a little bit.
02:37All these guys look like they go to inside, outside of Joe. He's thinking about it. He's thinking about it.
02:45Oh, the leap on a 250. Could he uncork it?
02:50Yeah, the hard part on the 250, you really got to commit all the way to the last minute to
02:55get a sense if you can make it.
02:57But, when Joe felt like he did, he could if he could pull it out in the next couple laps
03:00as he tries to slide up the inside of his teammate.
03:06Can't quite get there. Oh, the battle with the Honda teammates.
03:13That is excellent. Joe's working. He's inside.
03:18Got him. Nice move, Joe.
03:22Critical for him to get up to third if he wants any shot at the moto win.
03:31Davies has opened up to about three seconds now.
03:35Now, watch this off the start. Towers into Adams on the right side.
03:41That's also Gordon. There's Adams on the 35, and there's Gavin Towers.
03:48Phoenix Honda and Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki don't.
03:51Shimoda's on a roll here. He's going after Cochran.
03:53Yeah, well, Joe has no problem. Like, you know, he's used to this position.
03:57He's just got to make it happen. I think he sends his opportunity.
04:00And considering what he did here last year, how good he rode that first moto today.
04:05I know Joe feels like he can win this race, but he has to get around Casey early in this
04:10race before Cole Davis gets that gap.
04:12Too far going.
04:17Looks like, uh...
04:21James, is he still in fourth?
04:23Yeah, he's still there, but it's close. He's got Ryder D.
04:26Although, no, he's at Ryder D ahead of him.
04:28DeFrancisco, yeah, there it is, the Husqvarna. He did make the move.
04:33The Huskies got something going today.
04:36Alright, the 30. Can he make up ground, JT?
04:39Well, he's certainly trying.
04:41And you know, the one thing that stuck out in that interview from the first moto was he wasn't as
04:45downtrodden as he had been.
04:46You know, at High Point, you remember, he just talked about underperforming the whole day.
04:50Even though it was a solid day and he drew within one point of the championship, he was not happy
04:55with how he was riding.
04:56That first moto, I think that changed quite a bit.
04:58You know, he was still unhappy with the start, but the riding had seemed to come around a lot.
05:03And he's kind of following through on that here at Moto2.
05:05Yeah, I agree with that.
05:06I think the disappointment came from, as he almost goes down right there, is that he knows how good he
05:10was riding that he could win if he was up front.
05:14So, that expectation, then, you know, you kind of base it off there.
05:18I think Joe expects to win, and if he couldn't do that, he's not going to be happy.
05:23But you can see how much time he lost to Cole Davies.
05:26Cole Davies is getting away from him really quick, and it's not like Casey's holding him up.
05:30But these couple mistakes are going to be costly for Joe.
05:35This is Kitchen.
05:37What?
05:38Kitchen is in fifth?
05:40How did he do that?
05:43Incredible.
05:44All right, well, keep an eye on him as he moves forward.
05:46Katie, what are you hearing on Shimoda?
05:48Well, looking at Ben Griffith, he keeps pacing, and I asked him why.
05:51He says, that way I can think, I'm kind of thinking for Joe.
05:54Next hit board for Joe said, show me Joe Joe.
05:59They need it right now.
06:00Joe does usually get stronger late in the races.
06:03As for that bottom box, how about Kitchen?
06:06Erasing a lot of damage in about two laps.
06:09Yeah, that's a great move.
06:10Some moves by Levi.
06:12He's outside the top ten from what we've seen.
06:13I mean, we didn't see him up there, but he's running the same lap times.
06:17He's the only other guy in the 215s along with Cole Davies.
06:22So he's making his way up through the pack with that speed.
06:27Shimoda in the top box putting pressure on Cochran.
06:32Yeah, when you look at it, he's on the same straightaway as Joe and Casey for second place.
06:38So, man, Levi's rolling.
06:40These are the types of motos we saw from him early in the season.
06:43Yeah, absolutely.
06:44I mean, and he kind of needed that.
06:45I mean, I know that first moto was from Levi Sanders.
06:49So, so he lost the points lead, unfortunately.
06:52Ah, Julian down again.
06:54Another, man, beginning of the moto.
06:57This one looks like it might hurt a little bit more than another one.
06:59He's a little slower to get going.
07:02One of the riders that was right there in the thick of it for the championship at the beginning of
07:06the day.
07:07Paul Mayer in the Red Bull KTM.
07:10These battles are closing on each other.
07:12DeFrancisco and Kitchen at the bottom.
07:15Yeah, you can tell Joe, he banked into that corner.
07:19He knew early on that he didn't have enough speed.
07:21So, he wasn't leaning off the back of the motorcycle.
07:23He kind of gave up.
07:24But, man, just like that first moto, Casey got a good pace.
07:29Joe might be a little bit faster, but Casey's not holding these guys off.
07:33But the problem is that number 37 is gone.
07:37Wow.
07:38Almost six seconds for Davies.
07:43But, as he said, Cochran is not holding Shimoda up.
07:46He is absolutely holding his own.
07:50And, again, I don't believe he has a deal for next year.
07:53He's showing what he's capable of.
07:55As for the first moto runner-up, Dudney.
07:59He's going to replay here.
08:02He's on that Yamaha blue.
08:04Yeah, and what you can see right there, he started getting off balance.
08:06And, he tried his best to save it.
08:08But, from this drone shot, you can't tell how deep those ruts are.
08:11But, going down that hill with those braking bumps, a little off balance.
08:14And, that's what happens.
08:16And, that will push Dudney back to 12th after that runner-up ride in moto one.
08:21Sixth overall at the moment.
08:24But, this is that same section that we just saw definitely go down.
08:30Yeah, you cannot tell with the TV shot how steep that hill is.
08:34And, we've seen lots of riders go down through there.
08:37Man, rider DeFrancisco is all over Shimoda now.
08:41He's in the Husqvarna sandwich.
08:43Yeah, and just like that first moto, it seems like these guys really bunch up.
08:48When you get stuck behind a guy in front of him, depends on where you catch him at.
08:51If you catch him in the early part of the track with these 180s,
08:54it really kind of slows these guys down, which allows everyone else to bunch you up.
08:58But, you can get around them, you can have a gap like Cole Davies.
09:02And, we saw that same thing transpire in the first moto.
09:05But, unfortunately for Joe, he's still stuck behind a good ride to Casey Cochran here in the second moto.
09:16All right, what's the next move here?
09:18Can Kitchin get DeFrancisco?
09:20Can DeFrancisco get to Shimoda?
09:22Shimoda, you know what he wants.
09:24Get around Cochran and go after the lead.
09:27Yeah, from what I've seen at first moto, if I'm Levi, I'm going to have to get around.
09:33I will try to get around these guys before Joe gets around Casey.
09:36Because Joe had a good pace that first moto, and I kind of saw him run away from me.
09:41So, all day Joe's been a little bit better as far as in these motos.
09:45But, Levi, I need to make that point up.
09:48See the overall points there in the lower left.
09:51Right now it'd be Davies, Shimoda, and Cochran would be on the podium.
09:54With a little bit of room to spare. That would be massive for him.
09:58But he's got a fight out of his hands. Shimoda's close now.
10:07Yeah, here we go. This is an opportunity.
10:10Joe's probably going to try to stay with him.
10:13I think he'll be able to pass him here unless Casey misses his double.
10:16Casey goes outside. He should be able to get it.
10:20But another opportunity here where a guy has to pick a line.
10:25So, if Joe can just stay close to him, he might have the opportunity in his next corner or going
10:28down the hill.
10:29But he's got to be right on Casey. Here we go.
10:34Ah, Casey kind of fooled him there. He thought he was going to go to the inside.
10:37Casey goes outside and kind of messes Joe's plan up.
10:40But he still might have that opportunity. He's going to be on the outside here.
10:45Cochran fighting for it. Doesn't want to give it to him, but Shimoda has it.
10:49Yeah, Joe says, chest not checkered, son. Back at you.
10:52And now DeFrancisco looking to get his young teammate. Got him.
10:57Yeah, great move. Casey was kind of fondled by what happened with Joe getting around him.
11:04And his teammate got it slid up underneath him.
11:06Now he's going to have number 47 to deal with as well.
11:11Big moment in this race. Can Kitchin go with Shimoda? Can he make a run?
11:16He's working the inside. It's on Cochran.
11:20No, Cochran fights it back.
11:27Criss-cross lines there. Into the sand.
11:32Hey, subscribe-y! So you don't miss the next moto.
11:36That's what you've got to do. You've got to try to slow that momentum up.
11:40Get the guy off rhythm. Because clearly he's a little bit faster than you.
11:43But if you can get that momentum and that rhythm off, you can beat anybody.
11:47Levi really charged on the outside. Now he should have it.
11:50Casey's stuck on the inside.
11:52Really nothing you can do from that. Good pass by Levi.
11:54Not follow him. Charging in that run. That line.
11:58That's up to 4th place.
12:05Last time around, Shimoda and Davies the leader.
12:09Identical lap times. 2.16.9 for both.
12:13Best times of the race. Kitchin has that fast time as we mentioned.
12:16But he's got to make up more ground than just that.
12:19Yeah, and that fast time, Levi was the fastest guy on the racetrack.
12:23His last lap. So, just showed you how much speed he has.
12:26Even trying to make passes. Going at different lines.
12:29He's still able to run the same pace as Cole Davies and everybody in front of him.
12:33But, hard to make those moves here on this racetrack.
12:43DeFrancisco trying to hang in there. He's 5th in points.
12:48He's been good this year.
12:54Katie.
12:55He's been pretty comfortable on that bike all day with no changes.
12:57But I was talking to his team about his development this season.
13:00And they told me that we are all now starting to see what he's really made of.
13:04Why he was so good at amateurs. Going 6 for 6 at Loretta's.
13:07And basically a household name.
13:09These last couple of years, we haven't really seen that rider that he knew he was capable of being.
13:15And now today, in this season, we'll see a little of that.
13:20Yeah, Katie. DeFrancisco absolutely one of the most hyped and successful amateur racers.
13:24He's getting back to 3, 4, 5 years old on a 50cc bike all the way through.
13:31It certainly hasn't been bad, his career as a pro.
13:35It's just not quite been that podium threat to race win level.
13:40At least not yet.
13:42Looking for the Bodo podium right now.
13:44And it would be third overall.
13:47JT.
13:47Well, just to back up your point.
13:49Remember, this rider V was the rider that everyone was asking Hayden Deacon if he could go up and battle
13:55with.
13:56That was the bar for everyone to try to attain.
13:59So it just speaks to the talent that he has in starting to show once again.
14:06And I think that's why he has these rights.
14:08There's a lot of teams that still believe, including this one, they can get the most out of him.
14:13And that's why, even with Rockstar Husky going away next year, I believe they're going to keep him in the
14:17fold.
14:17Just move him over to the KTM side of that business.
14:22Yeah, I agree.
14:22I mean, once these guys are moving up like Hayden Deacon and then it's Roder Dees, that next guy that
14:29could possibly be here winning a championship like what we see with Cole Davies.
14:33Got to continue to build.
14:35A couple of other battles.
14:36We're checking it on.
14:37I believe that's Dudney.
14:42Romano in this battle.
14:44Dudney.
14:45Okay, so that is Romano and Thrasher right around the top ten.
14:48And Dudney in 12th.
14:50The man who was second in the first photo.
14:52There he is.
14:54Yeah, you got Minear and Abe, Thrasher, Bozman, and then Romano right there.
14:58So all these guys.
15:01We had to thank Bobby Regan and everyone at Star Racing for making these races interesting.
15:05They drop five, six fast riders into the class every weekend and you get good battles like this.
15:10Yeah, and they have another one in the next program that just won as well.
15:15So, yeah, it's there.
15:17And I think that's where we went back earlier to the first moto, just the pressure on all these guys.
15:22These 16-year-olds worried about your job already as he ends up getting up the inside of Nick.
15:30Yeah, so Dudney made a move.
15:32This is Benick on the White House Guarda trying to get by as well.
15:41Battles, they keep coming.
15:42He's got another one behind him, Denno.
15:46So, yeah, they're...
15:48Well, this is why we mentioned how important the starts are.
15:51Because you go back, this is 12th, 13th, 14th place.
15:54You're watching Denno's 14th on the trial.
15:58There's battles back there.
16:00Nah, it's battle.
16:01I mean, the thing is with Nick, he's going to be riding just as hard as he was out front.
16:05Yeah.
16:05With these guys in it.
16:06And the results, they don't feel good because you're going the opposite way.
16:11So, just how deep this build is.
16:13But, yeah, it'll only make you better in the long run.
16:18Bottom Box's Kitchen.
16:21Trying to close back in on DeFrancisco.
16:25Yeah, Joe's starting to creep away a little bit.
16:28But Kitchen lost a lot of time in that lap that he was able to get around up into Casey
16:32Cochran.
16:33I mean, he lost that lap.
16:35Lost a lot of time doing that.
16:36And now he's just trying to do his best to close that gap back up.
16:39But, as we've seen all day long, closing in and passing guys two different things.
16:43We'll figure it out, Katie.
16:45Now, the recent pit board for Levi Kitchen was don't settle, turn it loose.
16:49The team was saying that he's learning, maturing, and he's starting to not panic during these photos.
16:54And all of these are building blocks to make him a champion.
16:57He still has that red plate as of today in Red Sun.
17:03It might be a matter now of if he does give up that red plate, how many points behind will
17:09he be for halfway through the moto?
17:11Or if I'm under a stock up on Monster Energy?
17:14Nice try from Kitchen, but couldn't get the double, couldn't get to third.
17:18Yeah, he went in a little test.
17:20He knew he could make that pass.
17:22But, yeah, speaking of the red plate, right now Cole Davies would have the red plate.
17:26So, weird to come to a race that it changed his hands three times.
17:30You know, Levi shows up and it was Joe after the first moto.
17:32Now it possibly could be Cole Davies after this moto grabbing that thing.
17:39JT.
17:40Well, Kitchen desperately needs to get around Ryder D and make up those points.
17:44And I just felt like we were kind of due for one of these days.
17:48And I guess if it was, you know, a golf tournament it would be like moving day.
17:51Where we were going to establish some real trends.
17:54And I think so far we have.
17:55You know, Bomer really going to lose out on the points today.
17:58Going to kind of fall out of that picture.
17:59Davies may take the red plate and start to establish himself as the guy.
18:04But it seems like a very pivotal day here unfolding championship wise.
18:09Yeah, I agree with that, JT.
18:11And especially that first moto.
18:13I mean, although he rode good.
18:15He rode good at high point when you look at the finishes.
18:17But just considering how he rode those first few races.
18:21It was always, man, Levi's past Scott.
18:23He just didn't go down.
18:24He probably wins his race to where he almost got three now in the fourth moto.
18:28Where it's good, but it's just there.
18:31And that's been ever since he's taken over that red plate.
18:34So for him, I know that consistency just staying up.
18:38That eventually, hopefully it pays off.
18:40But you can't continue consistently getting beat by the guys behind you.
18:44Especially when you got Cole Davies and Joe Shimoto.
18:46Who are champions before.
18:48Who have that experience and trying to get to the level you're trying to be at right now.
18:51Or get to as well.
18:52Yeah, and as we're starting to see it often happens with those trends JT's talking about.
18:56You're not getting the massive variance in results between these contenders.
19:01Shimoto and Davies been around those podium spots pretty much every time out lately.
19:06So Kitchens got to rally and get there himself.
19:10I believe this is for the overall podium as well.
19:17Moto podium and overall podium would flip the same way.
19:20Di Francesco would have his first podium if he could hold on.
19:25And you're right.
19:27Now Levi's on the outside opposite where he was earlier.
19:30Whoa!
19:31Good move by Ryder.
19:33That was actually a good move.
19:36Got to commit to it.
19:36I think he was like, oh wow, that worked.
19:39But what he was trying to do was keep Levi from hitting that double,
19:41but ended up getting passed anyway.
19:44All right, so Kitchin now locks down third of the Moto third overall.
19:52Hey, elevate your SMX race day with a truly immersive fan experience designed to put you closer to the action

20:23That's smxexperiences.com.
20:26Going to be a tail of the stopwatch now.
20:29As Kitchin have enough time and speed to try to catch Shimoda.
20:34And late in the race, it is hard to do better than the rider out of Suzuka, Japan.
20:39Shimoda is tough late in the races.
20:42Yeah, I think the question is more about can Joe catch Cole Davies out front.
20:47That's massive.
20:48Because Joe's coming last lap.
20:49Oh, yeah.
20:51A little bit faster.
20:52And we know with the lap riders, that's going to, Cole gets caught up.
20:56Joe can be on that same straightaway.
20:58This race might not be over with 10 plus minutes left.
21:02All right, so then let's check in with Davies.
21:05I don't want to overhype, you know, a single Moto before the halfway mark of the season.
21:11But Shimoda just closed it down again.
21:13It's down to 4.8.
21:16This would be about as massive as a mid-season Moto could be if Shimoda could run Davies down.
21:23Yeah, I agree with that.
21:26And not like you said, for points, but really mentality at this point.
21:30I mean, Cole Davies has been winning these, say, these last couple of motors at AE somewhat.
21:35I know it's not hard, but Joe's able to stabilize that and close in on Cole, and it lets him
21:41know that, hey, you know what, I'm good.
21:43But Joe Shimoda is here as well.
21:45So he's got to keep that going up.
21:47JT.
21:48Well, Weech, I'm going to ask you this because, you know, we spend a lot of time talking amongst all
21:53the analysts, you know, like Adam Cicirillo and our Montreal Supercross broadcast team.
21:57And what do they all say about Joe Shimoda?
22:00Like, what's the number one comment they all talk about with Joe Shimoda?
22:04Yep.
22:04It's his fitness.
22:05It's his endurance.
22:06It's unrelenting at the end of these races.
22:08And at the same time, Weech, what's the number one question that we've been posing about Cole Davies?
22:13On the hot days, how is he going to be able to handle it coming from New Zealand, not having
22:19the experience in it?
22:20So we're going to watch it unfold right in front of us.
22:21But it's two completely different dynamics right here.
22:24Yeah.
22:24That might be the last test left for Davies.
22:26The heat and humidity.
22:27Can he pass it?
22:28Meanwhile, that box on the bottom, I think Kitchen went down.
22:32And how many positions did he lose or did he lose any?
22:35We'll get that figured out in a moment.
22:37The next time they hit one of the timing splits.
22:41Yeah.
22:41Okay, we got the crash.
22:42Yeah, you can see.
22:43I'm not sure exactly what happened, but I know it goes off the racetrack.
22:48He gets into that soft stuff, goes down.
22:50But you look at the back end of his motorcycle.
22:53I don't know if it's just the way the...
22:57Oh, yeah, he's in the background.
22:59He got stuck in the mud.
23:00Goes off the racetrack.
23:01They had to push the mud somewhere.
23:02If you look at the fender, it's all pointed down.
23:05I don't know if there's an issue with the bike.
23:07But Levi's definitely not as back up the pace for sure.
23:10Well, two things to update you.
23:11A, DeFrancisco did get back around Kitchen.
23:14That would put DeFrancisco back on the overall podium today.
23:18Second, Shimoda has now cut the gap nearly in half to Davies.
23:22And with this pace, there's plenty of time.
23:25Seven minutes and two laps.
23:27He can get there.
23:31Yeah, Joe.
23:32Joe's got him.
23:33Now he can see him.
23:35Could be huge for him.
23:40Well, JT, I'll swing it back to you.
23:41You're the one out there.
23:43James and I get to hang out in the air conditioning.
23:45Katie gets to hang out in the ice bath.
23:47How hot is it out there right now?
23:49It's pretty warm.
23:50I don't know if we have Wasabi Joe yet, but it feels like Wasabi Joe out here.
23:55Okay.
23:55It's cooking.
23:56So I can promise you that whether or not Davies can hold on, he's feeling it at the moment.
24:00Because I'm feeling it, and I'm sitting under a tent.
24:03Yeah, I talked to Davies about this earlier in the year, and he admits New Zealand does not get that
24:07hot.
24:07It's actually fairly close, believe it or not, folks, to the South Pole.
24:12Shimoda taking a handoff there in midair.
24:14And, yes, this is absolutely the wheelhouse of Shimoda.
24:17The hot and humid days late in the second moto, the roughest track is of the day.
24:22That's where he does his best work, and he now has Davies in sight.
24:25Yeah, and a part of this is just momentum.
24:28We saw it.
24:29New York Knicks.
24:30What happened in the playoffs?
24:31How beautiful.
24:33Yeah, congrats, by the way.
24:34They get in a roll, and so, yeah, it could be fitness or whatnot.
24:37But when you've got to start believing in getting this momentum, man, it's going to be hard to hold them
24:41off.
24:42And I think Cole understands that, and he needs to start planning for a battle.
24:46Like, Joe's not going anywhere.
24:48So, even though he doesn't need to win for the overall, I think it's bigger than that.
24:53Joe is coming.
24:55Yeah, I cannot see what we're talking about.
24:57There's no way Davies is going to be like, hey, you can have the overall, or you can have the
25:01position.
25:01I'm still going to win the overall.
25:03There's no way he wants to win this one, but it's going to be tough because Shimoda is there.
25:07Yeah, it is wasabi time.
25:10Oh!
25:11Almost got two spikes in there.
25:13Sideways, it almost went down.
25:16Yeah, and that little mistake caused him not to make that pass.
25:20If he had been close, he would have got it, but...
25:25Shimoda on the inside!
25:29Yeah, yeah, Cole knows at this point.
25:33Joe's here.
25:36Davies will win the overall, even if he gets passed, but the red plate, the point lead, it comes down
25:41to this.
25:43Shimoda would have the points lead if he could take this photo win away, but we're all saying it.
25:48Momentum in the championship, confidence, all that might be bigger than any of the numbers.
25:57Yeah, this is a great battle.
25:59Joe just got to stay with him.
26:01I feel like he has.
26:03I mean, look how quick he caught Cole.
26:06Cole's a smart rider.
26:08He went through this at Supercross, just got better.
26:10Joe just leans it in that corner.
26:14Joe's been a little bit quicker on this side of the racetrack, especially going down these hills.
26:17He's making small mistakes there, but going to clear his lap rider, so he should still be close to...
26:24Cole coming out here.
26:25Look how trekkery is.
26:26He's tracking him.
26:33Joe's got right to him now.
26:36Little mistake from Davies.
26:37Put off the pegs.
26:39Recovers.
26:42Side by side down the hill.
26:50Good rod in here.
26:52Oh!
26:53Beautiful move by Shimoda!
26:56Does he have it?
27:01He does!
27:13Oh, the fans saluting Joe in that effort.
27:17Yeah, you see Cole Davies take a look back.
27:19So that, to me right now, now he's going to most likely mentally settle for second place unless Joe gives
27:26him an opportunity by not pulling away.
27:28Joe pulls away for this next lap.
27:29Then Cole has continued to just get this overall victory and fight next weekend.
27:36And that would put Shimoda into the point lead and carry the red plate into Southwick.
27:41Second overall if he wins this moto.
27:44But we said it over and over again.
27:46The four straight moto wins for Davies would have been huge.
27:49Shimoda doing all he can to stop it.
27:52Katie.
27:52And Joe trying to get his first moto win since Unadilla 2025.
27:57Ben Griffin right now on the board has eyes forward.
28:00That moto one, remember, he was looking around quite a bit.
28:02They're reminding him, keep your eyes forward, get this finish.
28:05Well, he better read it again because he's looking over on the finish line, Joe.
28:09Just like moto one and avoiding lap traffic, he's down.
28:13Yeah, I think he was looking back to see where Cole, he pulled a huge gap.
28:17But he doesn't have to look.
28:18I mean, that's pretty simple.
28:19You just look at his teammate, what happened the first moto in that 450 flat.
28:22Right.
28:23The lap lap, so.
28:26Yeah, but Joe, he's in a rhythm.
28:28Like, this is what you call it in the zone.
28:30He's in the zone.
28:31And what you see is he can make a mistake.
28:34He'll take lines, pop out a run, and he'll still continue moving forward like it doesn't bother him.
28:39Because everything slowed down for him.
28:41He sees the track, and right now he sees that red plate.
28:44Might be on that number 30 on the way to another moto win.
28:49First this year.
28:50You love to see a rider when he's in that spot.
28:52I always call it meant to do that.
28:53You see a mistake come in, and the next thing you know, it's like, oh, that actually worked out.
28:57Just like you planned it.
28:58Hey, subscribeee!
28:59And he is loose on a motorcycle right now.
29:00So you don't miss the next moto.
29:01And I guess the final watch will be, Davies dropped all the way down to a .224 lap.
29:07He still had a big gap over Di Francisco.
29:10And there's not much time left.
29:13Gotta figure he's managing that gap.
29:17Yeah.
29:17But, uh, Rider D was four seconds quicker last time around.
29:21Yeah, I think Cole probably just got shocked at what happened with Joe.
29:24Okay.
29:24So I don't think, I'll be surprised if Rider D catches him.
29:28Rider D is riding good.
29:28But Cole would really have to fall off the pace.
29:30And to me, it just seems like he realized that Joe is gone.
29:33Yep.
29:33And he's slowed down, not realizing how much he slowed down.
29:36And he's going to get the overall.
29:37Yeah, anyway.
29:38He'll get the overall and just fight for the next weekend.
29:43All right, so let's talk about this.
29:46Davies, now it looks like, won't get the four moto wins in a row.
29:48How does that change the paradigm for Shimoda to take this moto win away when it looked like
29:53it was all shifting Davies' direction?
29:56Yeah, I think what it does, I don't know how much it changed for Joe.
30:00I mean, yes, it's get a moto victory.
30:02It'd be a huge form of confidence-wise, but I expect this from Joe.
30:06You know, and especially the track that he went 1-1 last year and has some success on it.
30:10This isn't surprising, but what it does is just makes Cole Davies have to be like,
30:15all right, like I'm there, but I'm not all the way there.
30:19Joe really stopped that point.
30:20So I think it's a bigger momentum stoppage from Joe winning this moto than, you know,
30:27really when it comes down to points with Cole Davies.
30:28Yeah, because you always said Joe's kind of going to give you Joe no matter what.
30:31He doesn't get affected by those swings as much.
30:33Yeah, like for instance, let's just say Joe, you switch Joe out for Levi Kitchen,
30:38and Levi did the same thing Joe.
30:40I would have a whole different take on this championship, but I expect this from Joe.
30:44Every router out there expects this from Joe, but momentum-wise,
30:48you kind of know what you're getting with him.
30:50And I do feel like if he continues getting these starts,
30:53because of the way he's able to beat Cole, and he's only gotten better so far,
30:58it really puts him in a championship threat, meaning I can beat these guys at the end of the moto.
31:02If I get my starts, I have the pace to be able to run them.
31:05I have the fitness.
31:06That's where it changes a little bit for Joe Samoto.
31:10A pretty big deal for Joe to get that moto win, still taking the hands off of the bar on
31:15that uphill triple.
31:18But you saw he was a little emotional getting that first overall win of the year at Colorado.
31:23Didn't get a moto win that day, but that was the first win since the neck injury in the offseason.
31:29And the first moto win would be big.
31:31This track is so tough right now.
31:33Watch this corner.
31:34They don't like the Honda so far today.
31:37Yeah.
31:37Just watch this corner.
31:38But, yeah, just going back to your point with that overall, I think what Joe realized,
31:43because when we first interviewed him when he won the overall at Colorado,
31:46like he talked about it, he was almost a little upset.
31:48Like, I didn't ride that good.
31:50He was thinking about some of the negatives.
31:51And then he realized what he accomplished from the injuries, coming back, getting that overall.
31:55So that was more of an emotional victory to me.
31:58This was more of like, okay, I'm back, Joe Shimoda.
32:02Like, I can run these guys down.
32:03So even though he was happy, this moto, even though he won't get the overall, would be a loss.
32:09This goes towards the championship.
32:10I believe Joe will believe now it's a different type of win than he had in Colorado for sure.
32:18But for Shimoda, it will only be second overall because Davies with the first moto win is still looking at
32:24two overall wins in a row.
32:27But it was the difference between which rider would lead with the point lead.
32:31And now it will be Shimoda.
32:36Joe really taking in the sights here.
32:38And Redbud still looking around.
32:40Yeah, when you talk about the, what meant to do that, when the rider's in the zone.
32:46You know, I believe all these hands coming off, unless he's got a little bit of arm pump, which he
32:50doesn't look like it by the way he drives.
32:52This is when you're like, oh man, like you almost crashed and we come in, you don't even remember it.
32:57So I bet he's looking around, not really thinking.
32:59Because when we asked him a question between moto, he's like, yeah, I don't know what I was doing.
33:04So that's a little bit, he's just in zone.
33:07It's wasabi time.
33:08I'm going to assume you've had some amazing rides.
33:10You've had some motos like that, where it's just rolling.
33:12Oh, you just black out.
33:14You remember I almost crashed and you're like, what?
33:16What are you talking about?
33:19Yeah, Levi Kitchen, trying to get back past Chance.
33:23Chance was able to get around him.
33:26And then Levi's now fighting back for fifth place.
33:30You know, it's still not the 1-1 Chance homeless.
33:32But we saw him battling around top five at high point.
33:34Top five right now, even if he gets passed by Kitchen.
33:38Are you seeing something?
33:39Are you seeing progress at least?
33:41Yeah, considering what, you know, expectations coming into the season,
33:45considering how the seasons went, yeah, this is huge progress.
33:47And I think this is exactly what Chance, you know, needs.
33:51You know, you heard his family talk about the things that he needs to do.
33:54This is exactly that.
33:55So I think you got to bring back the expectations what we thought coming into the season
34:01and realize this is where he's at right now.
34:03So today would be a great day as he gets passed by Levi from fifth.
34:06Yeah, for sure.
34:07Coming into the year, thought that Hymas might be able to run with anyone,
34:10could even win races in the title.
34:12It was quickly apparent that he wasn't quite at that level.
34:14But this has been an improvement the last two races from a couple of rounds
34:18where he was just hanging on to the top 20.
34:21As for Kitchen, that was costly.
34:26Because, who knows, had he kept it on two wheels, could he have made a run at Davies?
34:31But now he's back to fifth.
34:34It looks like he's closing in on Casey.
34:37Right in front of him.
34:44Ryder out of Washougal, Washington.
34:48But, although Washougal is one of the least rutted tracks of a circuit,
34:51he actually likes the opposite.
34:53He likes these deep tracks.
34:54See how he does at Southwick next.
34:57And with the problems for Kitchen, it should be a well-deserved
35:01and hard-earned podium overall for Ryder DeFrancisco.
35:05And that will be his first Pro Motocross overall podium.
35:09He's done it in Supercross.
35:11And he's bringing it home now, the Ryder out of California.
35:15Yeah, great day for actually both him and Casey running in fourth place.
35:20But, yeah, Ryder DeFrancisco definitely deserves this.
35:22He had to keep the pressure on Levi to make that mistake and capitalize.
35:26So, coming from a year ago, getting his first ever pole position qualifying
35:30to now getting his first ever podium here at this racetrack.
35:33He loves here at Red Bud.
35:36Well, we've talked about a lot of different things.
35:38But the bottom line is, one thing speaks louder than anything else.
35:41And the overall winner today at Red Bud is going to be Cole Davies.
35:46Maybe not the full 1-1 stamp that it looked like it was going to be.
35:50But bottom line is, he'll be the first Ryder this year to get two overall victories this year.
35:54And it will be two in a row.
35:58And the championship focus begins to narrow.
36:01You had Hamaker going out with the injury from high point.
36:06Gomer, a tough day.
36:07He's going to lose a ton of points.
36:08He's now down 35 in the series.
36:11But Shimoda and Davies have reason to be excited about how it went today.
36:20All right, I just didn't want to say anything until he got through that corner.
36:25Yeah, I agree with that.
36:27Joe's looking great.
36:29See if he can come back next week at Southwick, carry this momentum in his second moto.
36:35Because he's been riding good all year, long that first moto.
36:38We've seen him do that in the past.
36:39But I will say today, Joe has had the speed, which he found from practice.
36:44He was faster than that first moto.
36:46And I believe he's almost one of the fastest as far as one lap in the second moto right there
36:52with Cole Davies.
36:52So that's a good thing for Joe's motor to be able to find that speed after not having it in
36:57practice.
36:58And he's got to still figure out the start.
37:00Will it better be up more front?
37:02Especially if you get Cole Davies to continue to do the same.
37:05And with such a critical juncture in the championship, how close it is,
37:08we're going to add a little something to that with the Kunin twins coming back next weekend at Southwick.
37:13Remember, Sasha blew everybody's doors off in the second moto at Colorado.
37:19And he's great in sound.
37:20So he should be fast at Southwick.
37:22How will that affect things?
37:24Joe's still looking around.
37:26Well, the fans are going to salute you on the last lap.
37:28You might as well look at them.
37:30Well, here it is.
37:31It's not going to be the overall win.
37:32It'll be second today for Shimoda.
37:34But Red Bud Moto 2 goes to Joe Shimoda.
37:43And the fans going to bring Davies home.
37:47Cole Davies wins Red Bud two in a row in 2026.
37:53Good job, Cole.
37:55Roder D hanged on for third place.
37:57Hey!
37:58Subscribeee!
37:59So you don't miss the next motos.
38:03For Ford.
38:04And that's big.
38:05First ever, again, podium overall for DeFrancisco.
38:07And you got to give Cochran the most improved award.
38:10How much better he has been the last two races compared to the first two.
38:20These fans, they love Joe Shimoda.
38:22I would say outside of Aaron Plessinger,
38:26rider from Japan might be one of the most popular riders here at Red Bud.
38:29This guy's starting to build a bit of a following as well.
38:32Yep, yep.
38:33Future is bright in this 250 class.
38:45So Shimoda, the Moto win.
38:47Davies, the overall winner.
38:48.
38:49.
38:50.
38:51.
38:52.
38:52.
38:52.
38:53.
