US Polo Assn’s CEO J. Michael Prince has a simple leadership rule: respect people’s time. He recently told Fortune that unless there's an emergency, he wants employees offline and resting during their time off.

00:00Unless there's something major going on,
00:02I try to leave people alone in the evenings.
00:05So you rarely ever get an email or text from me.
00:07And I really try to respect people's weekends
00:10because I feel like that's your family time,
00:12that's your personal time, that's your friendship time,
00:15that's your time to reset, recharge,
00:17spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally.
00:20What I try to do on the long weekends,
00:21I give everyone a Friday to my day.
00:23So you get a chance to go travel
00:25and just be able to get away if you need to.
00:27It's very little dialogue over those four days
00:30unless there's something significant that comes up.
00:32And I think people really respect that and they appreciate it.
00:35And it's value time of your own.
